Hello lords and ladies.

Welcome back to Cartoon Hangout, your place for all things cartoon.

By now you've probably already seen this whole Johnny Johnny meme going around the

Interwebs.

It's spawned a lot of memes and other videos, it's great.

But what IS Johnny Johnny?

Well it seems to be a series of videos for kids to watch.

It's mindless and a little creepy, honestly.

I mean, does this baby actually sleep with an anthropomorphic ice-cream cone?

They couldn't have given the baby, I don't know, a talking dog?

Maybe that was too pedestrian.

Also, what the heck is up with his dad?

I get not wanting his kid to be doing anything bad, like eating candy when he should be in

bed or eating toothpaste, but breakfast?

Seriously?

Why can't the kid eat his sandwich?!

Some folks have theorized that the dad runs an authoritarian household, but the world

may never know.

Oh, and despite the lackluster CGI, you'd think the creator wouldn't reuse assets,

but nope.

The teacher is either his mother or the animator was too lazy to make a new one for her.

There's a ton of videos similar to this and by seemingly different channels, so it

wasn't too easy tracking down the original video.

In fact, when I was searching for the version I'd seen on Twitter, I found an entirely

DIFFERENT video that came before this other one.

Which if I'm being honest I definitely prefer over the more popular one.

The CGI is way better and doesn't seem as creepy.

That and the morals don't seem contradictory.

The origins of the song seems to actually date back to 2009 with this video here.

It uses the tune of 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.'

The animation is…considerably worse than anything that came after.

Even for 2009, it's bad.

This eventually got remade with the father looking real close to Peter Griffin from Family

Guy.

And of course it's morphed and changed over time as you'd expect from the Internet.

Normally I wouldn't give this the time of day but these videos have garnered millions

of views thanks to parents not really giving a crap what their kids watch.

I haven't seen all the variations myself, but I've been told some of these have questionable

content in them.

Which reminds me of the crackdown on the Youtube Kids app a few months prior.

Or maybe that was last year, time flies.

The only good thing about Johny Johny is the memes.

The actual videos are terrible and I feel bad for any kid who gets shown it.

They deserve far better entertainment.

Please, parents, make sure you know what you let your kid watch, alright?
