As the wife of billionaire Donald Trump, Ivana Trump quickly became one of the most well-known
and written about women on the New York City social scene.
But since their tumultuous divorce in the '90s, she's kept a much lower profile in the
press.
Where has she been all this time?
Here's what Ivana Trump's life is really like now.
"When you were a little girl, growing up, could you have imagined this life that has
turned out this way for you?"
"No, no you can't."
Making America great again
Despite their bitter and headline-making divorce, Ivana stood behind her ex-husband's successful
bid for the White House, according to the New York Post.
"Was I shocked that he won?
Yes, everybody were, but America voted and he's our president."
Surprisingly, the Czech-born socialite even agreed with Donald's controversial stance
on immigration, telling Page Six,
"I think […] immigrants are fine because [they] are good workers and good people.
But they have to come here legally and they have to speak at least a little English and
pay the taxes.
I disagree when an 18-year-old girl climbs over the border and she's pregnant and gives
birth, and the kid becomes automatically American.
[…] Who is paying for food and hospitality?
Us, Americans."
Dodging the ex?
Page Six reported that Ivana bailed early on the inauguration celebrations in an attempt
to avoid seeing Marla Maples, the woman with whom Donald had an affair during their marriage.
"It's wrong isn't it?"
"But it feels so right."
"Then it's a deal?"
"Yes!
We eat our pizza the wrong way."
"Crust first."
A source told the paper,
"[Ivana] had planned to go out and celebrate after the swearing-in, but when she found
out that Marla was going, she canceled."
Playing the field
Ivana is one of the world's most well-known socialites, so it's no surprise she has her
fair share of suitors to pick from.
She revealed to Fashion Week Daily in 2016,
"I have about three boyfriends!"
Later that year, the Daily Mail spotted Ivana in Saint Tropez with her "ex-husband […] Rossano
Rubicondi."
It's unclear if the Italian model was included as one of her "three boyfriends," but either
way: get it, girl!
"Well, I have this thing for Italians.
I don't know why.
They're bad boys.
Not all of them, but they're sort of semi-bad."
Not hearing wedding bells
After her marriage to Donald ended in the '90s, Ivana added two more failed marriages
to her name, bringing her grand total to four.
So will we ever see her walk down the aisle for a fifth time?
Not if she has anything to do with it.
She told the Post,
"If you are a married woman, you usually follow what the man wants to do.
I can do whatever […] I want.
I'm not getting married again.
But I like companions.
The most important for me is honesty, good humor - not necessarily a millionaire.
I don't need [money]."
"Younger guy gives you a little bit of the edge because it's just more energy which I
definitely need.
They have a hard time to keep up with me."
That mother-daughter bond
Ivanka Trump may be her father's favorite, but she's also close to her mother, Ivana.
The first daughter told People how much her parents influenced her life, claiming that
their divorce actually brought her closer to both of them.
Ivanka said,
"They made a real effort to ensure that we knew that they would always be there for us
and accessible to us and it helped us through a difficult time."
Ivanka's affection for her mother is clear in an Instagram post she shared for Mother's
Day.
Putting it all on paper
Over the years, Ivana has had many careers and turned her name into an internationally-recognized
brand.
She published Raising Trump in late 2017 about her experiences raising her three children
with Donald.
And according to Slate, her kids even contributed some of their own memories.
They said in a statement,
"We are immensely proud of our mother.
[…] She is an amazing mom, teacher and inspiration to all of us.
We are incredibly grateful to have grown up in such a loving and close family."
But don't expect the memoir to be too scandalous.
Slate reported that Ivana signed a non-disclosure agreement after she and Donald split in 1992.
"He's not a chauvinist, is he?"
"Oh he's the worst."
That Italiano diet
Even though she spends much of her time in Europe, Ivana was spotted in Manhattan's Plaza
Hotel in June 2018, promoting Gianluca Mech's Italiano Diet, which sells pre-packaged low-cal,
low-carb meals.
"My family and I have been producing herbal extracts since five centuries."
While Ivana claims she doesn't need the Diet herself, she's promoting it because she says
"obesity is like a calamity in America."
"It is all about good living and healthy lifestyle."
She blames indulgent parents, telling the New York Times,
"Whatever they put on the plate in front of the children […] they eat.
So if you put food in front of them that's junk […] of course they eat it, and then
they get obese."
Ivana made sure to focus on the Diet during the event, and refused to comment on her ex,
saying,
"I am not going to talk politics and White House or about my ex or first lady.
I am first Trump lady, that I can say."
"And remember."
"What?"
"Don't get mad, get everything."
