molesting one of the stars of

sevenawesomekids

i'm gonna tell you everything you need

to know right now on io what is

happening people this is inform overload

where we keep you up-to-date with

everything happening on the Internet

we also cover stories about YouTube as

often as we come across them so if you

need a place to get your news make sure

you hit that subscribe button by the way

I'm Charlotte dobre and if you want to

follow the io team on instagram our

links are posted down below for all the

awesomeness of youtube there are a few

bad eggs that sour its reputation like

Ian Ryland the owner of sevenawesomekids

a popular tween channel with 2.6 million

subscribers sevenawesomekids follows the

life of seven tweens they post

everything from DIYs to vlogs none of

the content that this channel post is

inappropriate but all of the cast

members are girls between the ages of 8

to 18 there are 20 of them in total Ian

Riley runs this channel as well as

several others accumulated all of the

affiliated channels have a combined

subscriber count of 17 million its most

popular channel sevensupergirls has more

than 9 million subscribers and 5 billion

views Ian Ryland was arrested in August

for the alleged molestation of a girl

who made videos for his brand according

to the police report rila allegedly made

one of the 16 year old stars undress in

front of him to practice wrapping her

breasts so that they don't look as big

on camera this underage girl said the

Ian Riley verbally abused her fondled

her breasts and tried to take off her

underwear and to make matters worse Ian

Riley told her that if she didn't do

what he said he would use her contract

with sevenawesomekids to find her this

is a classic case of a person in a

position of power using his influence to

manipulate and use those who are

vulnerable when BuzzFeed interviewed the

girls from sevenawesomekids none of them

said that Ian Ryland physically

assaulted them

or sexually assaulted them but they did

say that his behavior was often awkward

and it made them uncomfortable

the girls were kept anonymous for their

protection but they said that he would

accompany them on group trips and they

would often make jokes about him being

creepy Ian would tell the girls to wear

smaller swimsuits on camera and would

also make jokes about possible wardrobe

malfunctions one of the girls said that

Ian Ryland would constantly pressure her

to make herself look younger I mean I

don't mean to draw conclusions this

isn't the first time that this network

has been called into question three of

the stars previously quit

after a Tosh segment where Daniel Tosh

said that the channel was a popular

channel for pedophiles is it at all

possible that Ian Ryland knew that and

he purposefully tried to make the girls

look younger I don't know but I don't

understand why the stars of

sevenawesomekids were pressured to look

younger kids grow up its life and fans

of the channel also grow up I don't see

why it's necessary for them to tape down

their breasts don't you think it's more

relatable for the stars to grow up with

their audience

apparently Ian rila didn't think so an

actor told BuzzFeed news that some of

the girls started to get the feeling

that they were being groomed for some

darker audience after r eyelet was

arrested his channels were demonetized

by YouTube that being said the videos

haven't been taken down according to a

YouTube spokesperson who commented on

the case we take safety on YouTube very

seriously we work closely with leading

child safety organizations and others in

our industry to protect young people

when we were made aware of serious

allegations of this nature we take

action which may include suspending

monetization or terminating the channel

it's a possibility that sevenawesomekids

will be shut down if Ian's rila is

convicted or enters a guilty plea that

might not be enough to protect these

children on YouTube though a huge chunk

of the people who watch youtube videos

are children they generate a ton of

revenue a lot of the most popular

youtubers that these children watch are

also children yeah YouTube might do

something and step in once the damage

has been done but it should also be up

to YouTube to prevent these kinds of

things from happening in the first place

according to one of the former

sevenawesomekids actors in all her years

of filming for the channels there was

never any conversation with YouTube

there was no kid rep support that they

know of no number to call to report

things to they were on their own

it doesn't seem like much to ask to have

some sort of hotline or department at

YouTube where kids can seek help

considering how much money child hosts

and actors make for this platform it's

not a huge deal

by the way when YouTube's demonetised as

a channel that means that the channel

itself isn't making money but YouTube is

still making money off the videos just

gonna let that sink in for a second Ian

Reilly pleaded not guilty his trial is

later this year at this time YouTube

hasn't even contacted any of the

performers of sevenawesomekids about

this incident anyway it's friends that's

a pretty intense story I'm gonna lighten

the mood with some comments Aussie you

play set your team should make a gaming

channel we have a couple action

Plasti Dip My Jeep For Halloween And A New CB Whip Antenna - Duration: 3:49.

Welcome to mikegolden Games and welcome to another quick Jeep update vlog I was

doing a little Plasti Dip on the Jeep it's almost October so in the spirit of

Halloween I'm doing some orange wheels on the Jeep as you can see I was messing

around with it I have a little over spring I sprayed this area I decided to

just peel it right off and then I was just messing up here

power washer at the local car wash would probably take this right off or I just

need to get a brush and kind of scrub it because it what it when I'm pretty light

so basically if you want to peel it off you want to go really heavy on it but

this was just a little over spray here as you can see all this that was a lot

heavier that was all over this break but I think it came out really good look at

that let me know in the comments what you guys think of these wheels I think

it came out really good let's go around to the other side as well look that's

beautiful that is beautiful there's a few other things that I was thinking I'd

do will see if I do it or not I was actually thinking of doing just

this top bar so I cut it here you know where it cuts and just the top are

orange maybe an orange racing stripe in real paint instead of Plasti Dip it maybe

maybe not let me know what you guys think and I didn't have enough time to

do the back to wheel I bought two cans the first can was

more messing around getting used to using it and the second can was the

second wheel so boom painted the diff alright so as I was finishing up this

video I'm not sure if you could see it but FedEx arrived and delivered my

antenna for my new CB so I actually just installed it didn't really feel like

doing an install video for that because its basic it's basic stuff it's pretty

simple I'll show you what I did here so here is my new antenna it is a 102 inch

CB antenna and right now it's straight up and down but we'll take it and look

at something else as you can see I got a big spring here basically I use the old

adapter and old cable which was here the old CB

antenna the copper wire broke on it so I had basically just get it replaced so I

got this new spring and there's a long 102 much hands out and let's take a look

here let's grab it there and you just kinda go like this

and I also installed this part right here hit a drill small hole in my life

our mount by the track kind of goes like this there's a little hole there and I'm

looking through the camera just stick it through the hole and there we go so that

locks it in place so it's not gonna be going anywhere and there we have it

that's about it we'll see how long it lasts

it's supposed to be on a ball mount but I didn't feel like drilling you know a

big hole right here to attach

oh and I hear so hopefully that'll be good

it looks like it's pretty sturdy and the only time I need to worry is if I'm

opening the door here this gets pulled and it kind of rubs across the top as

you can see here maybe there's some scuffing not too bad

I just got to be you know pay attention when I open the door all right so that

looks like it hopefully guys enjoyed the video let me wait thought in the

comments below have a great day guys and see you next time maybe consider

subscribing if you haven't already and be sure to the bell icon that way stay

notified when the videos do go up hit that like button as well that helps me

out take it easy guys

How to Cure Social Anxiety for Good - Duration: 10:46.

hi it's Tom with realitycheckforyou.com if you have felt the really painful

feelings you get from having social anxiety you're not alone many many

people feel the same way as you do and want to be free from these really

uncomfortable feelings, Curing social anxiety is easier than you think and the

best part is you don't need to change who you are, by following the lessons in

this video series you can learn how to navigate any social situation and move

through life more easily free from fear and self-doubt, later I'm gonna give you

some really practical tools that will help to immediately relieve the main

symptoms of anxiety toward the end of this video we'll cover how you can

actually start to cure social anxiety and eliminate it as a problem in

your life if you've ever had the commonly held self belief that other

people see our personalities as odd or weird then you're familiar with the

quick surge of adrenaline that results in our social anxiety escalating and

gripping us with fear, everyone and I mean everyone has felt the same rapid

surge of fear but for those of us who have wanted to stop this overwhelming

cycle of negative self belief that really gets in the way of our ability to

put our best foot forward then you know what a really unpleasant position this

puts us in to say the least and you want to stop it from happening from

interfering with our lives the good news is it's easier than you think first of

all the fear of rejection triggers a normal but primal response physically

and mentally evolution has taught us that rejection at least in humankind's

primitive and not so distant past can mean literally being cast out from the

tribe with the potential outcome of a lack of physical safety shelter and food

our mind is telling us that there is severe danger to be fearful of and

physiologically it reacts exactly like it's supposed to but the reality of the

situation is that mind are triggering an age-old response

that simply doesn't reflect the reality of our current circumstances knowing

that this is a normal process and that your instinctive reaction of fear

doesn't mean that there's something wrong with you

it just feels really bad and overwhelming and it interferes with our

ability to put our best foot forward that's reason enough to address how we

respond in social situations that bring on these feelings telling yourself that

you're overreacting is not going to help the situation but when you start to

understand why you feel this anxiety then you can also consciously start to

treat yourself with more compassion when you can stop looking at these moments of

fear as a personal failure then you can change your negative self-talk around

this issue specifically the self-talk that says there's something wrong with

you for feeling this way there's not you're okay you're enough and you don't

need to change who you are in order to heal yourself so what can we

do to make these feelings feel not so paralyzing the first strategy you can

use is to remember consciously the reason your mind is triggering your fear

and focus on the physical sensations of the anxiety how does it feel in your

body I feel tight in my chest for example my

shoulders get tight I get a lump in my throat

and my blood pressure goes up so in this circumstance scan your whole body and

recognize everything that's happening physically don't try and stop what

you're feeling just recognize what's happening to you examine what you're

feeling without the stories or negative self-talk that we beat ourselves up with

if you find that your mind is racing so fast that you have trouble focusing you

don't have to worry this is a sign that you're a normal human being the goal is

to improve your ability to focus to improve your concentration to focus on

what you want to concentrate on what you choose to concentrate on and not be

carried away by emotion when you try something new it feels like it's hard to

do but if you practice and focus then you'll get better and better and this

will eventually minimize your anxiety to next to nothing once you get the hang of

recognizing your physical sensations then the very act of focusing or

grounding yourself in the present moment then now will lighten your spirit

tremendously I promise this concentration is what's known as

mindfulness and the reward is the ability to transform your social anxiety

and is something that doesn't cause you suffering the next strategy is to commit

to a daily meditation practice either a silent sitting meditation or guided

meditation like the ones Jason Stephenson on YouTube does or Michael Sealey also on

YouTube this strategy helps to retrain your mind to focus more easily and to

recognize negative self-talk before it has a chance to really take hold and

carry you away with emotion the next thing to do that will really help ease

your social anxiety is to practice reciting positive affirmations it's

really helpful and very easy so writing a list of 5 to 10 positive affirmations

that you can use on a regular basis is a great way to get started I typically

suggest for the people I work with things like and I'll give an example

here even though I'm not ready to let go of my fear I love myself just as I am or

another example is I'm powerful when I show people my true nature just as I am

you get the idea I've also put together two other videos specific to positive

affirmations it's a guided meditation and it's

available on my youtube channel it really is easy these are three great

strategies you can implement right away curing social anxiety altogether

requires a commitment to look inward and not deny the parts of yourself that

cause discomfort resistance to taking an honest inventory of yourself stops the

process of heal and makes it really hard to let go now

the really ironic part of being honest about who you are deep down your true

nature is that the truth is not that people refuse to see what's wrong with

themselves they'll do that all day long the truth is that people refuse to see

what's positive about themselves they dismiss their positive qualities because

they assume if something is easy or comes naturally to them then it comes

easy and natural to everyone but that isn't true at all so identify things

that you like about yourself and understand that they are unique to you

know people give the advice you might have heard it just let go of your fear

most people don't really know how to do that or even what letting go really

means what letting go doesn't mean is pushing away your fear pushing it down

or trying to reject the part of yourself that is experiencing the fear in fact

just hearing the words just let go is enough to send a shiver of fear and

anxiety at most people spine it's like hearing calm down you can't push the

fear away we've all tried it and it just doesn't work it inevitably makes us feel

worse not better so here is what letting go really means

it means to loosen your grip enough that you aren't clinging to fear and

self-doubt they're still going to be right there once you let go but as life

happens and things change then the fear and self-doubt will gently drift away

from you like passing clouds because you aren't attached to them anymore and

you're not clinging to them anymore in fact one person I've worked with to

cure social anxiety actually told me that she has gotten to the point that

she gets a sense of gratitude when her anxiety starts to increase because then

she gets to practice working on this fear as it comes up rather than being

overwhelmed with the dredge she used to feel there's a story about a young

Buddhist monk who used to faint every time he had to get a shot at the

doctor's office his teacher told him the next time he went to the doctor's office

to focus is it attention on the sensations he was

feeling and asked him to examine what it really felt like just before he passed

out and report back to him so the next time the young monk had to go and get a

shot he focused his attention on the sensations of walking into the office

sitting down rolling up his sleeve he concentrated on the sensations in his

body as his heart beat faster his breath became more rapid but this time of

course he did not pass out he didn't pass out because he was focused on the

present rather than being carried away by the past trauma and anticipation of

the fear he usually fell looking at the truth of the present moment rather than

being carried away by negative stories about ourselves about the past and

future allows us to transform our own suffering and focus on what is going on

right in front of us please subscribe to my channel and like the video so I can

continue to make these for you thanks so much I'll talk to you soon bye

hi nice to meet you Tom hey what's up hi good to meet you Tom oh my god what am I

looking at oh my god I'm such a dork these people

must think I'm a total idiot oh geez what's this person doing over

there oh god don't look oh my god what was that weird look yeah yeah

I don't want to die right now he oh my god

Ep 15: Tech for Sleep, Insomnia and Nightmares (Next Generation Behavioral Health Podcast) - Duration: 9:44.

[Dr. Christina Armstrong] Hello, and welcome to "Next Generation Behavioral Health".

[Dr. Julie Kinn] Ten-minute tips for modernizing patient care.

[Armstrong] [music] I'm Dr. Christina Armstrong.

[Kinn] And I'm Dr. Julie Kinn.

[Armstrong] In this show, we review the latest technology to support mental health.

[Kinn] What are we talking about this time, Christy?

[Armstrong] Today, we're going to talk about one of my favorite topics ever, which is sleep.

[Kinn] That's one of my favorite hobbies.

[Armstrong] [laughter] That's right.

How'd you sleep last night?

[Kinn] Great.

Great.

Because I've been working on the "A Better Night's Sleep" podcast, and so I've been

learning lots of really good sleep tips.

You all should check out that show too.

But today, we're talking more about technology to support sleep, right?

[Armstrong] Right.

Sleep impacts so much of our lives.

For the majority of my life, I've been a really terrible sleeper, honestly.

I've had insomnia, and honestly, up until I had kids and then I realized, "Oh."

I was doing all the sleep hygiene things with my own kids.

And I realized, "Oh, I can do these things with myself too."

So now, my sleep is wonderful.

Julie, what are some of the bad things that can happen when we don't sleep well?

[Kinn] The big thing for military populations that we're aware of is that it's a big safety

issue.

First of all, just like when people are drinking alcohol, when people are sleep-deprived, we

don't tend to have really good awareness of it.

We tend to overrate our wellness, for example, when we're drinking alcohol and we tend to

think, "Oh, I could still drive."

And when we're really tired, we tend to think, "No.

My brain's working great."

But the studies show us that's not true.

And as a result, we see lots of car accidents and on-the-job accidents due to sleep deprivation.

And so for military service members, we're especially aware of this and want to help

people understand how to get better sleep to help with the mission.

But of course, there's lots of issues that affect civilians as well.

[Armstrong] When we don't sleep well, like you said, there's a lot of effects all over

in our lives.

So on the job, driving, everything.

But a lot of what people might notice is increased feelings of depression, increased anxiety.

Not sleeping well is associated with higher rates of obesity.

So when we're stressed out, our cortisol levels raise, and we are generally just feeling under

more stress and, as a result, usually, go for the more high-fatty, high-carb things,

and we gain weight which puts us at-risk for all sorts of other health complications as

well.

[Kinn] Yeah.

Absolutely.

If you look at just general health conditions, sleep tends to correlate with a lot of different

areas.

Like you said, mood, cardiac issues, immune system.

We just tend to get sick more when we're sleepy.

If you are someone who lies in bed trying to get to sleep and just being very frustrated,

then you might want to consider some of these technologies.

And if you're someone who the moment your head hits the pillow, you fall asleep, there's

possibility there that you're overly tired, and then that's why you're falling asleep

so quickly.

Did you know, on average, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to fall asleep?

That's a good sign.

If you're lying in bed, relaxing, it takes about 10 minutes, then you're doing OK.

[Armstrong] And we know that sleep problems affect a lot of people.

So we know about a third of adults report some sort of insomnia symptoms, and five to

10 percent meet criteria for insomnia disorder.

But the great news is, there's really effective treatments for sleep problems.

One of them is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia.

There's just a ton of research to back it up.

So we want to talk a little bit about a really great mobile health application that is developed

by the Department of Defense and the Veterans Health Administration called the CBT-i Coach.

[Kinn] The CBT-i Coach is fantastic because it takes the user through all sorts of tools

related to traditional cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia.

Plus, you've got the benefit of it being on a smartphone or mobile device, so you can

set your own sleep prescription based on when you need to be on-duty, based on when your

kids are going to sleep, those kinds of things.

And it helps you slowly move towards better sleeping habits.

It helps you with sleep hygiene, helps you with relaxation, and helps you identify the

cognitions of thoughts that are keeping you awake.

It is meant to be used with a provider, but as we learned in our recent episode with Dr.

Jason Owen at the VA, they're developing Insomnia Coach, which is a self-help app, that by the

time this episode comes out might be on the market.

That will help users with some of these tools that don't require a clinician too.

So I would check out CBT-i Coach just to even learn about CBT-i and to use some of the tools.

And once it's out, Insomnia Coach, I think, is going to be tremendously helpful.

[Armstrong] Yeah.

The CBT-i Coach is one of my favorites.

The things I like best about it is there's a whole learn section, so if you're experiencing

sleep problems, you can go in there, and even if it's not insomnia specific, if you're just

having sleeping problems, you can go in and look through, "Hey, how is caffeine maybe

impacting my sleep?

How does alcohol affect my sleep?"

How if you're experiencing symptoms, of maybe anxiety or post-traumatic stress, how does

that play into this whole thing?

And so it's really interesting.

And I do love the sleep prescription.

And so you enter a sleep diary every day, and then when you get a few entries in your

sleep diary, it comes up with a sleep prescription for you.

It's a recommendation of what you should be doing based on how you're sleeping.

One of the really cool things that I like to do, because I've dealt with insomnia in

the past and I use this as a tool to help myself as well as patients, I like to wear

-- I have a wearable that tracks my sleep because it's hard for me.

So entering that information in the sleep diary is great, but I find I cannot remember

how many times I necessarily woke up in a night, but then, with my wearable device,

it lets me know, "Oh, you woke up four times."

And then I say, "Oh, that's right."

And so I enter the data from my wearable device into the sleep diary.

Ideally, that would all kind of flow smoothly together, and eventually, it will, but for

now, that's how I like to kind of step up the tech game for tracking sleep.

[Kinn] And you make a good point that one size doesn't fit all.

For some people, the CBT-i Coach is going to be the tool that just unlocks better sleep.

For other people, it could be in-person treatment; it could be podcasts; it could be other apps,

and it could be paying attention to other disorders that are interfering with sleep

like PTSD and post-traumatic stress.

[Armstrong] Oh, speaking of PTSD, Julie, a common problem that comes along with PTSD

is nightmares.

And so let's talk about a tool that was developed to help with those individuals that are diagnosed

with PTSD and are experiencing nightmares.

[Kinn] Best treatment these days for nightmares specifically, is imagery rehearsal therapy

for nightmares.

Prolonged exposure is one of the best treatments for PTSD.

But for patients who really just want to focus on the nightmares specifically, either they're

due to a specific trauma or they're just general nightmares, imagery rehearsal therapy is phenomenal

and it's evidence-based.

So we created the Dream EZ app to help with it, and it's ream and the letters E and Z.

And you'll recognize it in the store because it's got a cute little owl on it.

But basically, what the app does is it teaches you how to do imagery rehearsal therapy.

We created it in conjunction with experts in the field to be used with a provider.

But just like the CBT-i Coach, it's useful just for learning about the treatment on your

own, and there's lots of self-help tools in it.

So I highly recommend this app, especially since it can give you a sense of what it would

be like to go see a provider about the nightmares.

And again, although it's useful for those with PTSD, it's also a good app for folks

who just have nightmares not related to a specific trauma.

And the treatment's good, and the app itself is very easy to use.

[Armstrong] Some things I really love about this is that all those tools, the recording,

all the information on how to do it, step-by-step, is all in the app.

Also, I really love that you can record those nightmare experiences in the app, and then

all your data is safe and secure within the app and is not just going to be uploaded into

the cloud when you connect your device to your computer.

So I love all that, that DoD and VA apps take that extra special precaution to secure the

information that's inside of it.

[Kinn] A thing I like about it is it doesn't have you jump right into nightmares.

You start practicing the tools with really innocuous, easy little exercises, and then

learn the skill, and then you apply that to your nightmares.

I learned a lot just from testing out this app.

[silence] [Kinn] Those are the main points we wanted

to hit in our "Sleep Technology" episode.

But also, our email address is in the show notes.

We want to hear from you and we want to hear your feedback and your questions.

Let us know what's stopping you or your colleagues from using technology to help your clients

and patients.

What questions can we answer for you?

[Armstrong] Thank you for joining us today on "Next Generation Behavioral Health"

and learning about sleep technology tools to support you and your patients.

[Kinn] You can connect with us on Facebook and Twitter @MilitaryHealth.

[Armstrong] "Next Generation Behavioral Health" is produced by the Defense Health

Agency.
