This Is Better Than Singing - Duration: 4:58.

hey friends we like to say that we are all about encouraging people towards

holiness because we're worship leaders but let me say up front that the pursuit

of holiness and obedience will never save us only the blood of Jesus and

sacrifice can do that but the running after holiness and obedience is a

crucial ingredient to the cake that is our worship if we're going to be true

worship leaders then our job isn't just to help people indulge in the icing of

singing and music but rather to lead people into the fullness of worship and

true worship involves and requires our whole lives there's a guy in the Old

Testament by the name of Saul and he was the first king of Israel Saul made a

tragic mistake in regards to worship mainly he thought that he could worship

God without fully obeying God and like a cake with no flour his worship fell flat

before God it was no good and it was worthless and even more than that it

made God angry in 1st Samuel 15 we see that God gives Saul clear instructions on

how to deal with an enemy of the people of Israel but Saul only partially obeys

those commands in short he basically obeys the parts that he likes and leaves

out the parts that he doesn't like aren't we tempted to do the same thing

all the time as we read God's Word we read his clear instructions for our

lives it's so easy to embrace the parts that we like and just reject the parts

that we don't for example it's so much easier to obey the parts of God's Word

where it command us to love others because it's culturally acceptable but

it's much harder to obey the command to give our bodies to the Lord as a living

sacrifice now when Saul is caught in his disobedience do you know what he does he

decides to appease God or try to appease God with a worship service really he's

just trying to distract God and he's trying to justify himself and make

himself feel better about his own disobedience and that's when God says

this to Saul in 1st Samuel 15:22 through 23

does the Lord take pleasure in burnt offering and sacrifices as much as an

obeying the Lord look to obey is better than sacrifice to pay attention is

better than the fat of rams for rebellion is like the sin of divination and

defiance is like wickedness and idolatry because you have rejected the word of

the Lord he has also rejected you as king animal

sacrifice rituals were the equivalent to our worship services they were the

things set aside to honor God just like our worship services animal sacrifices

were a good thing God told his people to do them just like we're told to gather

together and sing together each week but we learn in Hebrews 10:3-4

word that the blood of animals never took away sin rather it was given as a

reminder of sin Saul tried to appease God to sacrifice he wanted to disobey

and then cover it up but the blood of animals can never hide our sin

sometimes we might be tempted to use our singing and our praises to God as a way

to appease him or to cover our sin but like animal sacrifices singing praises

to God can never cover our sin only the blood of Jesus can do that obeying God

is better than animal sacrifices and in the same way obeying God is better than

our singing praises to God we simply can't worship God if we're lacking the

ingredient of obedience that doesn't mean there isn't grace every day I fail

to obey God and so do you but every day we should be pressing towards obedience

and holiness that was the difference between David and Saul David still

messed up he disobeyed God many times but the difference was that his heart

was inclined to obey God he longed to obey God so much that when he was

confronted with his sin he was completely brokenhearted over

his obedience unlike Saul David didn't try to distract God or others with his fancy

worship he didn't try to cover up his sin unlike Saul David didn't try to play

games with God David wanted to obey God with all of his heart and so when he was

caught in disobedience his heart was broken over it

we can't worship God if we aren't walking in obedience and if we're

intentionally rebelling against God's Word if we are rejecting his word no

amount of singing is going to make that right and no amount of singing is going to

make us right it might provide a temporary feeling of peace but it's a

false peace obeying is better than singing and as we'll continue to

discover together a heart bent towards obeying God enables and fuel some of our

Gabriel Is 9 Months Old! - Sarah's Official State Of The Baby Address - Duration: 10:02.

Hello everybody Gabriel and Sarah here to give you his nine months update

Gabriel turned to nine months old over the weekend, so we're gonna tell you all about this past month and what happens

So to start you off with some stats

And these are going to be 100% accurate because we went to the pediatricians office today

For his nine month appointment, and so we got official

Weights and links, so he is clocking in at twenty-one pounds and five ounces

He didn't gain too much from our last video, but that's okay. He did grow some inches finally yay

He's now twenty eight inches

So for weight he's in the 75th percentile and for height

He's in the 34th percentile, so he's sylveon a little be a little short

But as Jacob assures us the Upshaw's are tiny people

His head circumference was good. I forgot what percentile that was do you remember no his head circumference was good

And his overall

Percentile was the 90th when you combine height and weight, so he is doing good growth wise

He has five and a half teeth his two top and two bottom are fully out. He's cut one on the top

Right as well and the one on the top left is so close to cutting through so when that happens

He'll have six teeth so that's why I say five and a half

Really bad since the last update

We are lucky if we get three hours at night

he has been fighting his bed times and

Then getting up soon for early in the mornings

Ready he lost a shoe

He's been fighting some naps too or skipping them all together, so we talked to the pediatrician about it this morning

And she gave us some good tips, so we're gonna try to implement those and see if we are successful

So we can at least get a four or five hour stretch

So we're hopeful you messed up your header

Solid food wise he's doing really good. We've started introducing more

chunkier consistencies

And he's taking those really well you came all the videos which I'm sure Jacob will pop up right here, but we've tried

caleb most recently

not a big fan beets loved beets

We did broccoli also not a big fan

Butternut squash he really likes that we I think we tried it previously, but we tried it again

And he really really liked it some new stuff

We're gonna start trying meat some protein, so we're gonna give him some chicken and see what happens

I think for the chicken we will go ahead and do the pre-made baby food because we don't want any

Salmonella risks of us making the chicken because I love Jacob, but he does not cook meat well about it

So we're gonna go ahead and trust the experts. I'm gonna try to find some organic

Not a bunch of extra chemical baby food, so if you have any suggestions. Please tell us in the comments

We are happy to get those since this is our first baby food buying experience

For his developmental

milestones

He is sitting up

so well and

can go from crawling in lane to sitting in two seconds that is a

Really, good skill he has mastered

He has started pulling up on everything

Lately he's been immediately standing in his crib, which is a little terrifying for me?

He is army crawling army crawling so fast and then every so often

He'll get up on his knees and take a few

Crawls on his knees not consistently, but he's doing really good

He loves his Walker and he can also scoot around and his Walker really really fast

he pulls up on us and on his toys and everything and

Can hold his balance, but if he pulls up on you he immediately once till I go of your hands and be independent

So I feel like

That is coming through

So I'm glad I put these shoes on him because this is a great distraction forget the toy that I brought he likes his shoes

He doesn't have too many more many more words from our last video

Still the dad Dyer the dad

in the haze

He has started this new

Yeah, I started this new sound that is really cute where he'll

Put his tongue at the roof of his mouth and kind of talk from the middle of his mouth all right

He mixed those we haven't had a chance to get it on camera yet, but I'm sure when Jacob was able to

He will share with you guys. It's really funny. He started that this weekend

We're still trying to teach him bye-bye

He'll do the bye-bye wave but not when it's time for someone to leave like randomly throughout the day you'll see him

Opening and closing his little fist

He really likes music we turn on music for I'm almost every day

And he does his really cute dancing thing where he'll go

Side to side pooping and he'll do it in this video. You know what you we don't have any music playing so maybe not

For his loves and hates he loves as evidenced by his current

state

shoelaces

strings and tags and anything little that he can chew on and play with

He loves his Walker

He likes to chase the dogs. He likes to chase us

Likes to run over the dog water ball repeatedly, and then you refill it and then he runs over it again

He likes to follow you ever you are in the house to new rooms and his Walker. He still likes his bouncer

He started in the mornings when it's early if he gets up really early. We'll put him in it. He'll like lay back

And watch TV. It's really funny. He's just chilling out in his Walker

Really loves the outdoors. He loves to be it's outside. Especially in his front-facing stroller, so he can see everything

He still loves children and loves to watch them and starting to interact with him more

He got to meet his cousin from Florida this weekend, and he loved watching her

He likes music

He likes beats

He likes the grocery store

He lights up at the grocery store

And is so friendly to everyone around if someone walks past the cart

He like stares them down until they make eye contact with him and interact with him

He says hi to all the workers there, and they say hi to him. It's really really cute

for his hates

He really hates going down for a nap when he's overtired he gets so mad

He hates when you try to look at his teeth to see if he's cut anymore. He doesn't like you messing with his teeth

Or his nose when he his nose is stuffy, and we've got to

get rid of

the

boogers

That's about all for his nine-month update. He has

Done a lot of new things and gotten a lot bigger and developed wise it

Is all over the place and getting more and more mobile so I can only imagine it gets worse from here

We're gonna be running around like crazy people trying to keep up with them

but he is super cute and

We are just having the best time with him, so we look forward to seeing what his ten month update will bring
