hellos, how you doing and how are things?

if you're listening to this podcast for the first time

I am Sara

usually i share with you topics or incidents that happen

and i like knowing people's thoughts about them

this time i am back with a topic that got me thinking

recently i noticed that the content we watch and read

became a repetition of the same thing

every time something succeeds,

we find people copying it and repeating it in the same way

and i rarely see new ideas that get me excited

does this mean we ran out of ideas?

or does this mean that people don't watch new ideas?

a while ago,

i asked you to share with me new content creators

who are doing something different so I can support them

Thanks to all who shared videos, channels and accounts

i saw many videos

and some of them

really knew how to be different

but didn't find get the audience to watch them

one of them is a girl that got my attention from her accounts

and i felt that she would be the girl who

will start discussing topics that people avoid

Salam to you all

and finally i uploaded my first youtube video

for those who don't know me,

my name is Ula, i'm 20 and I study engineering

and in my channel I want to discuss different topics

some social issues that we face

and advice and ideas that you can apply in your studies

and in the end

share your thoughts in the comment section

I care about your comments

don't forget to like and subscribe

and see you in the next video, byeeeee

when I watched the video

I kept a few things in mind

one can generally make use of

like the way of presenting

the talk

the lighting

the sound

any animation and music

this girl only uploaded one video

so i couldn't properly judge what she will do

specially as youtube videos

but i wanted to motivate her and shed light on something

that can make her different and unique among content creators

after watching the video

i wanted to write something that embodied the comments i had in mind

at the same time i didn't want to judge before watching more videos

so i wrote something general

I didn't mean something negative from what i wrote

but i was surprised with what i got later on

honestly, i didn't expect to read such comments

specially that this was my first video

people are only good at demotivating me and being unappreciative of the efforts

I hope you share this snap so they can get the message

TEDxMontrealQuartierLatin J Faubert New frontier for perceptual cognitive enhancement - Duration: 17:54.

well I'd like to thank Pascal and her

team for first of all organizing this

this conference and for asking me to

come and give you a talk so I'd be very

happy to talk about the kinds of things

we've been doing but I want to make a

link with what's going to be discussed

later on today for instance I know that

some people will be talking about how

people can move around in urban

environments and this is a critical and

very important thing for us as you know

population is still growing and it's

growing and it's getting older and older

so we want to do something to assure

that these people are not hindered in

their in their when they move about but

if you think about that problem that

problem is really one that has for the

perceptual system is quite complicated

because when you're confronted with

dense populations dense crowds you have

a lot of information there are a lot of

people moving about there are a lot of

individual moments little individual

movements people across pass in front of

the other you lose track this is a very

complex thing also you have to integrate

the information over a very large area

and you have to also temporally

integrate that so that kind of

perceptual cognitive processing that you

do when you move about in crowds is the

kind of thing we study in the lab now

another thing that we're very interested

in in the lab is the impact of subtle

changes subtle neurobiological changes

to the system healthy aging is a good

example of that very subtle changes but

it has some influence it has an impact

on how you process information so we're

interested in how you process that kind

of information let's say in the crowd

and then how these subtle changes will

impact that processing but once

done that there's a third step we'd like

to make you improve on these particular

functions so we're going to look at that

today and see whether that is possible

well let's start with the aging process

okay we know now from the work with some

of the work we've done in the lab that

the older people have a hard time

processing complex visual information

okay

the crowd example is a good example of

that now you take somebody at home

they'll walk very easily from the

kitchen to the living room

no no hesitation very smooth gait you

take that same person you put it on the

corner of a busy street and often they

will freeze they will hesitate and

that's because there's a lot of

information to process so we know

complexity is a problem another thing is

we know that speed is a problem so time

reaction time and and making decisions

in the context of these complex

environments is not a simple thing so if

you add those two together you can

imagine that in crowd dynamics is a

complicated thing so like I said before

if you have people moving about the

movement is not necessarily fluid okay

you have a general sense of where the

people are going you have a general

sense of where the crowd is moving it's

a bit like watching the trees and the

leaves you see you can watch individual

leaves the individual leaves is moving a

certain way but the tree in the wind is

blowing as you know in a particular

direction and the fact that you see the

wind blowing in a particular direction

is because you're integrating those

individual little movements and you're

making a calculation of how things is

where the wind is blowing in it in a

general sense so we have to do a lot of

what we call spacial temporal

integration things are happening very

fast even if crowd is moving slowly

there are sudden changes sudden

bifurcations somebody is avoiding a

particular rock or an object for

instance and there are multiple elements

the track now the example I like to give

is the example will chill

everybody who has children knows it's

not easy to track your kids when you go

to the shopping center or when you're

downtown you have two children and they

go in opposite directions you have to

keep track of these two that's very

difficult you're distributing your

attention on multiple elements so these

are all things that are very difficult

for the older population so let's let's

try to see how we can sort of isolate

this and create something that we can

actually test and evaluate the ability

on so if we look at multiple object

tracking and we make the analogy with

the with the crowd movement then we can

ask people to sort of track these

multiple elements and then the we

activate these multiple elements and

after all of this moves in different

speeds and different with different

occlusion conditions we ask them to say

okay which were the ones you were

tracking okay that sounds very simple to

do but it's very hard to do and if you

push this at extremes if you push the

person to do it faster and faster that's

very hard so let's look at the

environment that we use to assess these

kinds of tasks first we use virtual

environments immersive environments and

the reason is because we can maintain

the perspective of the individuals so in

these environments you have first of all

large visual field which is critical as

we said before because if I'm looking at

a crowd I'm looking at movements in the

crowd there was a lot going on but I'm

integrating over the large field it's

not like watching a television movie

second of all when I move my head around

and I display you know I'll have

different points of regard points of

visualisation the the images on my eyes

change and they must be calculated and

changed as a function of that that's

what we do in the virtual environment

and plus there stereoscopy and all sorts

of other features that are analogous to

the real situation so let's take the

basic methodology we first place the

person in a comfortable position but

there are many now we have people

standing on their feet jumping up and

down we have all sorts of past that we

asked the people but

really speaking you want them to be

relaxed looking at this and

concentrating so we have them sitting

down we present them with a certain

number of elements or spheres in the 3d

volume space and then we identify some a

subset of these spheres the example

that's given here is five is four four

elements four spheres that are turning

red and then they've become yellow again

and then the movement starts that

dancing starts the crossing over starts

a bit like the crowd movement a bit like

the kind of movement you see during

sports activities when you're dealing

with information and then everything

halts and I ask you or the subject to

tell me which were the spheres that the

subject was track so you want to try it

are you ready to try this exercise yeah

oh I heard a big yes I love that so

what's gonna come next is you're gonna

see the spheres and I will ask you just

keep your fixation in the center and

there's a good reason for that because

if you start tracking one of the balls

or one of the spheres you're gonna lose

the others okay it's not a good strategy

in this particular case so I'm giving

you a hint stay in the center to excite

that spot and then the dancing is gonna

start and in the end you're gonna have

to tell me which were the four spheres

four spheres that I identified and

normally in the task that we do in the

training process that we do if you don't

get it right in other words if you get

three out of four it's not good enough

sorry then we go slower now if you can

do four to four that's pretty good we go

faster okay and if you get the next one

you get four again we go even faster and

we're pushing people to do things faster

and faster and faster speeds okay and as

you'll see from the results that we have

this really works and people can get

better at this task so are you ready

fixate in the center now here we go keep

those four balls in mind keep the four

balls in mind okay which balls were

which spheres would come on come on get

at least one or two of them here we are

we're giving you a little perspective

there we go three four five and eight

now that was easy

so let's try a slightly faster speed

fixate in the center

okay here we go which spheres okay so

it's five six one seven and just to push

the limits let's do at a third speed and

I'm doing this for a reason I'm doing

this for a reason the reason is that

this is actually slow for some of the

people we train so normally people start

at levels that are you know obviously at

equipment repairable to you for the most

part but once we train them and we ask

them to you know do this exercise for a

certain amount of time they actually get

better and better at it now what's

really exciting is the different

populations do differently but they all

improve now let's go back for half a

second and talk about this stereoscopy

that binocular three-dimensional

information we get and the reason is

that there's still some debate out there

as to what is the real usefulness of 3d

is it just a fad are we just presenting

things in 3d because it's nice and we

get a nice nice process but from a

performance point of view is really the

critical point here if we don't need to

present in 3d why should we present in

3d and use a virtual environment we can

probably do this on a flat screen

although we need a very large flat

screen for the reasons I mentioned

before but the reason is very obvious

here when we do what we do which is

measure speed thresholds okay we find

that every single condition that we've

tried there is a clear advantage of

having stereoscopy so somehow the 3d

binocular 3d information that you have

in this kind of environment helps you

disentangle the elements in this very

complex and and and dense maze that

we're looking at well that's critical

and that's why we do it in three

dimensions

so what about training brain plasticity

is a wonderful thing there's been a lot

of work in neuroscience now showing that

the brain is very plastic but there's

also all sorts of movements people train

on certain things and then wonder really

if it transfer over over to other things

so the key point I will try to make here

is that you want to train something

that's as close as possible to the

fundamental property that is critical

for what you are doing remember the

example I gave which is crowd dynamics

well this is as close as you can get the

crowd dynamics without making the

environment too complicated of course we

can put individuals we can put people

but then things get a little out of hand

and it's hard to isolate what you're

trying to process and what you're trying

to Train essentially so the question

therefore is do the older people that

have more difficulty than the younger

people in these kinds of environments

can they do better can we do something

about it

once we've measured it same with the

young adults why not if the older people

can get better why not the young ones or

are they hit at a ceiling so these are

questions we've dealt with I apologize

with the slides complicated but let me

just summarize it very briefly we did a

training program in in the lab and we

did different groups and we had some

people coming once a week for five weeks

and we had a group of young people a

group of older people and what we find

is that everybody gets better so if you

look at the red circles I want you to

focus on the red circles the red ellipse

what you find is that the older observer

with no training obviously if five weeks

later these are results five weeks after

five weeks of training of four groups

what you find is the older do get better

significantly better okay what you find

is the young ones get better too so

that's encouraging there is some room

there's a lot of flexibility to work

with but what's really key I think is

that the older observers once they were

trained after five weeks were identical

statistically identical

value to the young untrained observers

so what's the results here well we have

clearly everybody gets better it's

interesting because now we have some

kind of profiling we can see who has

more difficulty less difficulty and and

we can actually do something about it

and as we said some of the older people

get just as function just as as good at

this task as the young untrained people

so what about high level athletes now we

did a pilot study in the lab testing

some very high high level athletes

world-class athletes and the results

were very very encouraging based on

these results we've had communications

with different teams and now we've

actually set the system at Manchester

United and they were willing to develop

a program with us we've been there for

10 months and now we have nine different

training programs for instance

resistance to fatigue under cognitive

stress if you will and all sorts of

other functions so that somewhat which I

cannot really talk about but clearly the

gains have been very very good even

though these players that the first

league the Premier League players

actually start a much higher level they

still get a lot better ok so now they're

used they use these kinds of techniques

to force for instance to to prime

themselves before the games or to set up

what they call game shape now we have

installations in the National Hockey

League penguins and and senators and

mechanics and we also have with the the

rugby teams and other Premier League

teams and n-c-double-a team or or Center

training centres so now the fire is

caught so let me just finish with this

we think that this kind of training but

really isolates some very fundamental

properties that you have to deal with

when you're traveling in traffic when

you're moving around in dense cities for

instance when you're driving bicycles

some people talk about that this

afternoon or when you're playing

high-level sports is trainable

it's isolated we can isolate it and we

can train it and that's very encouraging

and we really believe that this once

your your you can capture information

you can process this kind of information

more efficiently then it has all sorts

of other consequences on your

psychological well-being on your

autonomy and on different behaviors and

what's interesting is that there is

really no limit to it because we've

adapted and we've actually used this

kind of technique with many other kinds

of neurobiological alterations one sends

concussions you think about athletes

will have a concussion

now the metrics are you know very

subjective and often they have to ask

the player in the end to make the

decision but if you have a specific

value the player has its own reference

value I can do a three when I'm healthy

and now I can only do it too it's hard

to argue against that well this is

becomes a very good tool a very good

supplement to know where the person is

how the person how the athlete is doing

in this particular context and can be

used in very different contexts

I just want to say that this technology

along with three other technologies that

were developed in the laboratory were

licensed to a spin-off company via

University Royale and Nevada they work

together and they generated a spin-off

and now the technologies will be

available for all sorts of of

domain and also to domain sports but

also and neurosciences medical health

and so on and so forth so there's hope

thank you very much

you

Surveys for SuperOffice CRM - Duration: 2:20.

This is Josie the marketer and Oskar the sales guy.

They work in different teams and tools and today they're doing surveys, but they're struggling a bit.

That's because Josie sends out customer surveys,

and soon answers start flooding in,

but who's gonna follow up on all these answers?

Josie sharea the average responses in a report with Oskar the sales guy

and sure, he might glance at it

but too much manual work and too little details on which customer said what

this report doesn't really help Oskar.

With two separate systems like this,

Oskar is not given real insight,

they're wasting time and that's not very smart.

What's smarter is the full integration between eMarketeer and SuperOffice,

with form responses collected and shared with the sales rep, in real time, presenting precisely which client said what.

In eMarketeer, Josie prepares and distributes the survey.

In eMarketeer, Josie prepares and distributes the survey.

To keep Oskar in the loop, she sets up automations to SuperOffice.

This one is triggered to send a task to Oskar when a respondent answers in a specific way.

Once the form is sent out, Josie sees answers dropping in the eMarketeer reports,

where she can get a quick overview of responses and survey performance.

If we head over to Oskar and his team, they're also in the game now

cause they can also see this survey report in their own SuperOffice Dashboard.

But today, Oskar is not really interested in average responses,

he wants details.

He heads over to the activity report in SuperOffice,

where he's been sent a task cause one of his clients gave negative feedback.

Oskar clicks the web-tab and sees the client's answers,

helping him to right away determine the best way for follow up and damage control.

Forms are just a small part of this integration.

Event management, lead nurturing, marketing automation

– all of it is supported with this integration.

That's smarter marketing with eMarketeer for SuperOffice.

The Search for Strawberry Daifuku! - Duration: 8:04.

E: Hey guys! M: What's up everybody!

E: Welcome to the next part of our Eight Views of Omi adventure in the modern day

Number 6, I think

E: We're gonna go to Ukimido Temple, in a minute

Do you know what the original painting was called?

M: Yes, it is called "Katata Rakugan"

which is "Wild Geese Returning Home to Katata"

Uh so it actually doesn't have Ukimido in the title, but the view is always the Ukimido Temple

which is this "floating pavilion", as they say. Like, this temple built out over the water

E: So the temple name is Mangetsuji Temple, and it's most famous for its floating pavilion, which is called Ukimido

M: Yeah so, the prints usually have the lake and maybe some people on boats

and the temple and then geese coming back

E: Cool

M: So I guess, whatever time of year that would be

E: Well right now, we're going to get some – hopefully! – some ichigo daifuku, strawberry daifuku

But, we might be a little late in the season for that, so if not..

M: Yes, Emily's convinced that there are not going to be anymore ichigo daifuku

E: I am not hopeful

M: …and I was so sure! I was just here, not that long ago

E: I am not hopeful, but we will see

I mean they should have some kind of daifuku

But this place – so daifuku is like, rice cake

like pounded rice mochi with some kind of fruit inside of it

So it should be delicious because this place is like known for its daifuku *Maddie chanting "sooo good" in the background*

E: So we're gonna get some of that, and then we're gonna head out to the temple!

E: Okay, Maddie. So what did we just buy?

M: We… did not get ichigo daifuku… as it turns out.. uh… that…

E: Disappointed!!

M: Yeah, so, my apologies, I was here during Golden Week, and apparently that was the last time that they served ichigo daifuku

However, they have something that might be even better

which is 'kinkan daifuku' which we haven't eaten yet

but he described it as like, it's some kind of citrus fruit kind of like an orange…

E: A citrus-y fruit, semi-sour, like.. yeah

M: A little smaller, maybe, I don't know

E: I do not believe that it can beat a strawberry

but I'm willing to give it a chance M: Yeah.. I hope it's good though!

M: It's really cold, we haven't eaten it yet

E: If it's really good I will maybe forgive you

E: Let's test them out

E: mm! M:mmmm!

E: Oh my gosh. It's like an orange?

M: It's an entire fruit!

E: It's very good.

M: Yeah, it's delicious

E: So, even if you can't have like strawberry daifuku,

I get the feeling that if you go to that shop anytime you're gonna get something special, something unique

'cause he was talking about pineapple!

Like starting a new thing

of doing a pineapple daifuku, which is a first

and he was asking people who lived in that neighborhood how it was

getting their opinions and everything

So yes, recommend! Do recommend!

E: So here we are on the actual pavilion…

Maddie says it's a bit scary

M: It's scary! It's a long drop into the water!

E: Yeah, it's kind of cool, 'cause you're kind of out in the middle of the lake

E: So this is the floating pavilion that we were just on earlier

M: Famous for – famous in lots of photos of the Omi Hakkei

E: Yes. This one was called Katata…

M: Rakugan

E: Rakugan, I knew that

M: Wild Geese Alighting at Katata-- Wild Geese Returning to Katata

E: So Maddie do you have any history facts about either the painting or the temple or anything?

M: Apparently there was a monk who lived at Enryakuji Temple

and he was looking out from, like some part of the Enryakuji complex over Lake Biwa

and he saw like, a glittering light in the lake

and… I think either he saw it once or he would see it frequently

so he went down to investigate

and he threw a net in and pulled out

a small Buddha statue that was gold, I think

Oh no, it was really small maybe!

It was only like 13mm or something, so he pulled out a tiny statue

E: Wow, he saw that from Mt. Hiei?

M: I guess so, glittering!!

I think he built Ukimido to, like, he enshrined it there

So he carved a Buddha sculpture, and then put the one that he found inside it and enshrined it in Ukimido

E: But now there's like –

M: Yeah, so then, he carved a hundred, or a thousand…

actually it's probably in the pamphlet. Uh, a thousand.

E: One thousand

M: So he carved one thousand sculptures of Amitabha

E: If you go in the Kannon Hall - Kannon Temple - which is right to the side of us

there's tons of those little Buddha statues, and then there's more in the Floating Pavilion, right behind us

So they're everywhere, they're everywhere

On the weekends, there's a bus that goes directly here, to Ukimido Temple

but on the weekdays you get off at Katata Demachi

which is not far, maybe a ten-minute walk, not even that, I think, from this temple

Yeah, so it's very easily accessible

Not a lot of crowds, beautiful view of the lake, a lot of history

it's one of the Eight Views of Omi

Why would you waste your time in Kyoto?

And then, Daifuku!

M: That shop was great

E: Yeah, totally recommend daifuku

So thanks a lot guys, for tuning in again to our series on the Eight Views of Omi

M: We've got… after this one, two more, right?

E: Two more! Ishiyamadera and Karasaki

So look forward to that

I'm sure they will be beautiful. I'm sure they will be very interesting

Maddie's such a good artist, she will make beautiful things out of that!

E: Yeah, be sure to click the link in the description to go to the blog post that Maddie's gonna write,

where you can see the beautiful drawing that she did of this particular View of Omi

and also, just the blog articles that she writes

She writes really good blog articles too

M: I've got some nice pictures from Emily in there too

A to Z of being a primepreneur: A is for AGE - Duration: 1:11.

A is for age and I think it's really appropriate to start this A to Z

series with 'AGE' because when I refer to primepreneurs, I'm talking about women in

their 50s and beyond and so age is certainly a factor and yet

it is about SO much more than just the number! Primepreneurs are of an age

where we have a much clearer idea of who we are, what we want, what's important to us

and how we want to spend our time. It's also an age where many women feel

an urge to realign who they ARE with what they DO by creating a much more

authentic way of living and working. We're also of an age where we have a lot

of valuable life experience to share and put to good use... which is why

the over 50s are now starting up in business faster than any other age group!

So A is for AGE

Woodfin For The Win | Vote October 3rd - Duration: 2:04.

I have never been more excited to support a candidate than the one that we're supporting

today.

I love the fact that that he can manage but he loves the people.

I love the fact that he is capable, but he's also compassionate.

It's the difference between an event and a movement.

Election day in an event, but what we represent is a movement.

And that movement is a change that we can believe in.

We are setting the stage for what the future of young elected leadership looks like.

A leadership that believes in service.

A leadership that believes in uplift.

A leadership that understands that the power that they wield does not belong to them, but

it is the power of the people.

That is what you have in Randall Woodfin.

It's time to care for people outside of an election year.

It's time to invest in this city outside of an election year.

It's time to get along with the City Council outside of an election year.

Campaigns are not won on TV commercials.

They are won with sweat equity.

Knocking on doors and talking to as many people as possible.

Now come on y'all, this city is starving for servant leadership.

What the citizens of Birmingham, Alabama want is simple.

They want a Birmingham as good as it's promise.

That promise is embodied, it is personified in Randall Woodfin.

He is the leader that is going to take this city to the next level.

Are you with me BHAM?

Are you with me BHAM?

Art For Me is Everything – Eran, Senior Art Director @ Outfit7 Group - Duration: 3:39.

Hi, I'm Eran and I'm a senior art director.

I've worked with the Outfit7 Group since 2016.

The reasons I joined the company are that I really like the games

I like the surroundings, the people, and I think that I can really contribute to

the art creations of the company.

I'm from Israel.

I worked in the game industry and in the movie industry, and then I became freelancer for a while.

And then I started to get offers from across Europe – in Berlin, Barcelona and Stockholm

And I decided, out of all of those, to move to Slovenia.

The first thing that came to me basically me was the people.

They gave me a warm welcome.

It felt like I was at home already.

Art for me is everything.

I've been doing character development for about 9 years

and in general I'm doing it all my life.

The thing I like the most about it is that I can create something from scratch

that just becomes alive.

In the previous industries that I worked in, it was usually about quantity

they always wanted to get more stuff and more stuff.

Here, I've always felt like it was more about quality.

It was always like we were pushing for one thing

I don't want to see a lot, I want to see one amazing thing.

It feels overwhelming when I see that billions of people are playing with something I created.

It gives me a feeling of responsibility also.

What I give them...

I need always to give something better.

My work is very interesting because I work on several projects with different departments.

On video, game art, and UI, and developing characters.

People here are always willing to evolve and nobody comes here just to do their job and go home.

It seems that when I got here my career evolved a lot because I got the opportunity to work

with people what are willing to get what I have to offer

and they offered me things that I didn't have in the past.

The reason I came here is that after living 12 years in a big city, I decided to come

somewhere that would be more peaceful and quiet.

I would have more peaceful mind - and not just chasing the things that I used to chase in the past.

The thing I like to do the most here is taking my dog to the park because the park

here is amazing and it's something I didn't have where I came from.

I think that every change of your environment also gives you something for your creation.

If you are in a peaceful state of mind, your creations is just better.

I'm doing what I want to do.

This is it.
