Illustrator Settings For Better Workflow! *NEXT LEVEL* - Duration: 7:30.

today's illustrator settings tutorial is actually a reload but not only is it

super essential for a better workflow in the straighter many of you guys would

not have seen this video before my channel so I'm reapplying it today

because I'm a very short on time after New Year celebrations but I've got

more fresh content on typography coming this Friday and then much much more into

the next week but also you can pop down suggestions for future videos in the

comment section below

the first edition in today's video on illustrator preferences for logo

designing is actually more of a setting there are various different tools that

can actually have more precise modes to them so for example I have the pen tool

selected right now and by pressing the caps lock key on your keyboard and now

have a crosshair icon instead of a pen and it's it's useful to me because it's

more precise and the pen icon tends to get in their way so when I'm designing a

logo I like to see as much of the logo design as possible and I also like to

see exactly where I'm clicking the caps lock key function doesn't apply to all

of the tools but it does work for quite a lot of them so experiment by pressing

the caps lock key and see what tools you can make more precise

moving on to the second edition in today's list of preferences is your

tolerance value you can see when I hover a direct selection tool over an anchor

point it automatically is picked up and watch how long it stays connected as I

drag the cursor away in the preference settings we can increase this up to a

maximum of 8 points and then see how far away the anchor point will stay linked

to the selection to us and move it away

with this value being this high you will accidentally select all kinds of things

in your workflow and it's already no ideal especially for a lego designer so

I'm going to advise you to lower this value down to 1 which is the lowest

setting possible for this preference and now you're not going to accidentally

select objects that you don't want to select the next preference that I'd like

to use for later designing is a zoomed object function by default if i zoom in

with the keyboard shortcut a zoomed in to the center of the screen this can be

useful but when I'm designing a logo I like to activate the zoom to selection

option this saves time and in my opinion it just makes life easier as a Lego

designer if I'm working on a specific part of the logo and I want to zoom into

it I can automatically do that without hesitation or hassle

now I've got two more main preference settings for logo designing before I

show you how to save all of your preferences as one preset though group

together this design here with a keyboard shortcut I can still move and

edit individual objects as I wish now how do I do that I double click the

design and enter into the isolation mode which is another essential preference

that I use you can use a direct selection tool as well but it is more

efficient in my opinion in the preference settings menu you can find

the setting here and it's often turned on by default but also in this menu is

the increments value and this is how far you can nudge an object by pressing the

left and the right key on your keyboard and this setting needs to be changed

over time depending on the design and the size of the airport

and the last preference setting today before the awesome tip at the end of the

video is the scaling options this design has a stroke around there and if i

duplicate it by holding down the alt option key and then make it smaller the

stroke actually scales down proportional to the design now this is handy when

resizing objects and I rarely switch the setting off when I'm designing a logo

but sometimes I do so it is handy to know where it is if I do go into the

preference settings and switch it off you will notice what happens when I

resize the logo the stroke stays the same size in numerical values but not in

relation to the scale of the design so yeah there were some preferences on

designing a logo how can we save them specifically for logo design so that

when we enter into a logo project our settings are ready for us to use so it's

a quick example let's drag out the appearance panel and also the path under

window to things that I use very often in logo designs and just to prove that

we can save forever in the settings I will change this value here to 0.25 to

test later in the video so just remember it's 0.25

when you have the preference as you wish and go into edit settings and then

exports simply type in the setting name say my settings are in place for local

designing and then select a file location to savor now that the settings

are saved and to conclude the test I'm gonna change the setting from 0.25 to 1

and then click OK and if I go back and check it is still set to 1 now if I want

to load the settings I just saved we need to go back to edit settings and

then imports find the file and then click OK an illustrator is gonna have to

restart then make sure to save all of your projects so once illustrator is

rebooted create a new document and then you're gonna notice that once my

document has been created I have the appearance panel and the Pathfinder

panel ready for me which I saved earlier and as I said the setting that I saved

of 0.25 has in fact been saved as are all of the other preference settings now

that is how you can save your settings in Illustrator I did make a video with

preference settings before so today I chose some different ones to go over and

 Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the site and declared Wednesday as a day of mourning in Magnitogorsk

 Initially the explosion was believed to have been triggered by a natural gas leak, but links were made to it being a terrorist attack after another incident in the city – about 1700 kilometres east of Moscow – in which a minibus exploded

 The Chelyabinsk region governor's office reportedly said the minivan incident, which killed three people, occurred near the apartments

 Regional police told the Interfax news agency that "faulty gas equipment" inside the vehicle caused the deadly explosion

 Following anonymously sourced reports suggesting both explosions may have been acts of terrorism, Russia's Investigative Committee said no traces of explosives have been found in the rubble

 The shift in focus, though, did little to take the limelight from the "miracle" find

  Rescuers found the baby, who was identified as Ivan Fokin, after hearing his cries amid the debris

Rescue teams were about to call off the search when they heard the boy's cries. The child managed to survive a freezing night where temperatures dropped to around minus 18C

 The boy's mother survived the collapse and is now at the hospital with her child

As the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing strives to improve the country's power supply, it is also making budgetary proposals for the purchase, maintenance and fuelling of generators at its headquarters and various agencies.

An analysis of the 2019 budget proposal of the FMPWH that was recently submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly showed that the ministry and its agencies had proposed to spend N167.

96m this year on the purchase, maintenance and fuelling of generators/plants. Nigeria currently generates and distributes an average of 4,000 megawatts of electricity and the sector is still suffering from a serious liquidity crisis despite being privatised since November 1, 2013.

The 2019 budget proposal revealed that at the headquarters of the power ministry, a total sum of N26. 6m was budgeted for maintenance of plants/generators, while plant/generator fuel cost was put at N16.

The FMPWH headquarters also made a budget proposal of N50m for the purchase of generators.

The National Rural Electrification Agency proposed to spend N488, 000 on the maintenance of plants and generators, while N1. 55m was budgeted as fuel cost for its plants and generators.

In its 2019 budget proposal, the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency's headquarters proposed to spend N2m on maintenance of plants and generators. It plans to spend N4m to fuel the plants and generators in 2019.

The National Power Training Institute made a proposal of N1. 5m for the maintenance of plants and generators and intends to spend another N1. 5m for the fuelling of the equipment.

The Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Limited proposed N2. 31m for the maintenance and fuel cost of plants/generators respectively, while the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, under the works arm of the FMPWH, proposed N3.

84m for the maintenance and fuelling of its plants/generators in the 2019 fiscal year.

back, high-definition speaker, on and off button and two magnets that can be

snapped to any pair of glasses using this magnetic mount and the wear is

using it like this, it's a wearable device. And it's the most advanced

artificial device for visually impaired, blind, dyslexic and people with reading fatigue.

Just an example I have a book here the only thing I need to do is

point at the text [the device reads the text] and then the device reads for me. It identifies the finger

gesture to start reading and, to stop reading, I just need to put my hand in

front and it stops automatically. There is also a way to start trigger reading

by pressing the side of the device.

In this screencast we're going to look at a very cool feature of Yoast SEO in

the block editor, which is that you can add structured data blocks to your posts.

Before we do that of course we have to know what structured data blocks do, so

let's look at a search result page for "how to bake a cake" and we'll see that

there are more than just the regular results. First of all, you have a featured snippet,

which tells you exactly how to bake a cake step by step. And also, if you

scroll down you'll see that the snippets right here have star ratings, for example.

these special snippets are generated by what we call "structured data", which is

code that you add to the page to tell Google a little bit more about the

content on your page. So if you check out the page of this featured result for example,

we'll see that it has all these steps in the article, but Google can't

interpret that, so what you have to do is, in the code, place a little piece of code

and we'll look it up right here - yep here we are - which tells Google: "Hey, this is a

how-to step and this is step one and step one is..." and then a bit of text of course.

If you do that, you increase your chances of Google showing search results

like these for your site. So Yoast SEO allows you to do away with the code and

just add a block, which will add the markup (the code) automatically.

So, let's see how it works. So if you add a block and scroll down to the bottom,

you'll see the Yoast structured data box option. If you click that, you'll see

that Yoast SEO has several structured data blocks, which you can add.

So let's add a how-to. Just "How to make a cake."

The first step is to "Gather your ingredients. Get the flour..." etc.

The second step is to "Preheat the oven" and so on and so forth.

You can add a total time, so let's say this cake will take 3 hours and 30 minutes to bake

And you can add images as well for your ingredients.

And you can insert steps if you want to.

So if you fill in the steps - and of course this doesn't have to be recipes

this is gonna be anything, like some work you have to get done, anything

that you can break down into steps, you can do with this structure data block.

You can enter a question and then the answer to the question so

Google can show these in the search results. Now, as Yoast SEO progresses

we'll add more and more of these structured data blocks to make sure that

you have the best chance as possible of adding structured data and of course

getting those coveted rich snippets.
