I don't need anybody.

You don't need many people but you need me.

I think what attracted me to the role of Maud was — everything, about her.

Erm...

I first was sent a picture of Maud by Aisling —

— from Aisling, she just sent me a picture when she was — an iconic picture when she's by a window, about 65 years old.

And this woman, these hands, incredible hands and surrounded by her artwork, and...

I didn't really need to even read the script!

I'm assum- — assuming I'm working for room and board, but...

I was thinking an extra twenty-five cents spending money as well.

A week?

The more — Yeah, the more I learnt, and the more I, sort of — discovered about her...

Just — Yeah you, yeah you would be an idiot not to, not to want to play this part!

Aisling is er, a real great friend.

Erm, she's a great...

She's a, such a master filmmaker.

Erm, ar-, she's an artist.

And, I've been, we've been wanting to work together, again for, since we did Fingersmith years ago.

Erm, and anything she's attached to, I'd — Yeah, sign up, like that.

She cares to the core of her being, about what she's making.

And you know that you...you can trust her.

She'll trust you.

She gives, she hands it over to you and she know, you know that she will, is going to step out of your way, in order for you to breathe.

And so many directors, don't do that, and don't let you play.

I mean Ethan and I had this incredible — Yeah, ability to just play, and freedom to — do what we do, and —

That's a real gift.

You just want to do as much as you can.

When you've got a playing partner like Ethan - Ah! - who's heaven-sent indeed.

I mean nobody else could play Everett.

Let me tell you how it is around here.

Maud can do what she did...
