Me, Mezzo and Kapelonis

were sitting on the back of the truck

and decided we didn't want to go into the cabin

because you are mentally unstable

and things in the cabin are really tensed

we' d rather stay in the back

We laughed our face off with Mezzo

when the bakery guy who does capoeira

gave us directions to the beach

and said to go right

We agreed.

we got in the car and turned left!

So, we made it to Karava

We are ready to taste Alexandro's rusks

So, will do some shopping, get information

and we' ll show you why where are here

The beaches !

There is a guy named Pavlos that everybody knows, he does capoeira

- Do you do capoeira?

-No, but I'd like to. -Perfect.

-I' m Pavlos. -Really? Haris, we found Pavlos.

So we' ll do some capoeira before you eat

Which one is your favorite beach?

My favorite beach..

Well...I' ll tell you.

First of all, Kithira is my favorite island

So I love every beach in this island

Still, the one I love most

as I have tons of memories

is Fournoi beach

We got rusks, capoeira instructor

We found the baker's favorite beach

and we are going there soon

And everything works fine

After visiting the bakery and following our friend's Pavlos suggestion

who will also be our capoeira instructor

we have arrived at Fourni beach

The beach as seen behind us

It's kinda hard to access

Most preferably use an USV

Otherwise, drive really slowly

- Mezzo, what do you think about Fournoi beach?

-I want to do capoeira

I think this is the first organised beach we meet

And the busiest one

So, let's put on our swim fins, masks and bathing suits and go

Why is this beach called Fournoi (oven)?

There are lots of caves here

People used to come here and camp, lit fires and felt like an oven

-Looked like an oven

Those two caves use to be off shore

-Is it nice? -It's super!

The highlight on this beach

is the hammock

The Fournos beach hammock rules!

- We are at Agia Pelagia, at Limni beach

They say that Barbarosa came through here to take over Kithira

That's why it is called Kakia Lagada

-Is there another Lagada?

-There is Lagada right next to us

with a blue flag

and I suggest we go there to take a plunge.

Could you give us some information about the island?

Where did the name of Kithira come from?

There are a lot of versions

The first one is

that the name Kithira comes from the word "keftho" which means "hide" in ancient greek

Afrodite hiding the love

Connected to mythology

Surely

According to Hesiod's Theogony

she emerged from the sea of Kithira

At some places you can find fossils than indicate the existence of ocean layrer

What should someone see when visiting the island?

Kithira is not only a tourist's attraction

but also of great historical interest

geological as well as archaeological interest

Suits to everybody

French philosophers

thought of Kithira

as a place where you can find the ultimate happiness

There is a french saying "Let's go to Kithira"

An island they only dreamt of

The history of Kithira goes way back

around 7.000 BC was firstly habited

The oldest findings as presented in the archaelogical museum

at the entrance of the town

are dated around 9.000BC

Up untill the 10th century

there are no information nor data

It's waht they call the dark ages

There used to be the hide outs of pirates and Sarakines

The island went through a lot

As it did with Barbarossa attack

in 1537

Don't ask me which is the most beautifull beach

I love them all the same

From north

to south

there is endless beauty in the coast line.The

The beauty of Kithira is hidden

One of the best beaches of Kithira

is Kalami

Where you either go by sea

or by descending

But whoever managed to go, was well rewarded

I was totally blown away

if I may say so

in Prassinolakos

-A heart shapped beach

In Limniona

-It was amazing

The long hike and the difficult access

lead to a very rewarding feeling once you get there

In the north part of the island

there is a number of beaches

very beautifull ones

small gulfs

the last one is called Kakia Lagada

where the most impressive gorge of Kithira leads to

passing through Palaiochora

and ending to Kakia Lagada beach

You can see huge cliffs

and red rocks. Very impressive!

-This is where Barbarossa started attacking

and taking over Kithira

-And you see across Kavomalia cape

This is the entrance to old town

You can see a lot of venetian features

the porches, balconies, terraces...
