BORIS Becker is selling his Wimbledon trophies amid claims his debts have hit £44million. The BBC pundit, 49 — three-time champ in the 1980s — hopes his trio of silver gilt cups will net £1million.

The move comes months after the German tennis legend, once worth £30million, was declared bankrupt over £3million he owed a bank. His debts are said to have since soared. A Swiss ex-business partner has gone to court demanding £31million.

The former ace was said to have reluctantly agreed to flog his trophies after accepting "the time for sentimentality has passed". A source close to him said: "Boris needed to find cash fast.

"Selling his precious Wimbledon trophies was deemed the quickest way. Bad investments saw Becker's fortune dwindle — and he paid millions to a Russian model he got pregnant in a London restaurant's broom cupboard. Divorce from first wife Barbara cost him £10million.

He was declared bankrupt in June and his £65,000 Maserati Ghibli S was carted away. This week he was seen giving private coaching at the All England Club in South West London.

A fan described him as "gaunt and unrecognisable". Bjorn Borg got around £300,000 when he sold his five Wimbledon trophies in 2006.
