Rap artist Cardi B has made history by becoming the first female rapper in 19

years to top the Billboard 100 chart without the help of any other credited

artist. Welcome back to What's Trending, I'm Martini Beerman. Make sure to LIKE and

B's "Bodak Yellow" beat out Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do,"

claiming the number one spot on the Billboard 100 this week. The last time a

female rapper topped the chart was in 1998 when Lauryn Hill made history with

her song "Doo Wop (That Thing). That thing, that thing, that thing... With the success of

Bodak Yellow, Cardi B is not only a chart topper, she's one of only five female

rappers to ever claim that number one spot.

But who is Cardi B? Where did she come from, and exactly how did she make it to

the top so quickly? Belcalis Almazar, otherwise known as Cardi B, was

born on October 11, 1992 in the Bronx, in New York City. At a young age, Cardi B

became a stripper, and in an interview in 2016, she explained how the money she

made from stripping enabled her to support herself which ultimately saved

her life.

In 2013, Cardi B started posting videos to Instagram and Vine, and very quickly

gained a following, because (to put it simply) the girl has no filter, has zero shame,

and is downright hilarious.

Just a couple of years later, Cardi B took on a role as a social-media influencer

full-time, which then enabled her to quit her job as a stripper. She's pretty much

living the dream. Her Instagram fame and sassy attitude caught the attention of

producers for the docu-series Love & Hip Hop: New York, and after being placed as a

cast member on the show, her fame actually outgrew the show itself. Despite

the skepticism, she released her debut single during her first season on Love &

Hip-Hop, called "Cheap Ass Weave," a remake of "Queen's Speech Ep4 (Brush Your

Teeth) by Lady Leshurr, which was surprisingly well received, and Cardi B's

rapping career was born. Which lead her to sign with Atlantic Records and release

her debut single, "Bodak Yellow."

The song is now at the top of the Hot 100 chart and Twitter is

celebrating. @sixthviews tweeted, "Bodak Yellow is the only song on the Billboard

Hot 100 to reach number one that I actually think is worth that spot,

finally." @snedward10 wrote, "Wow honestly truly I feel blessed to be

alive on the day when Cardi B has Bodak Yellow as the number one song in America

praise be to God! Even Nicki Minaj -- who is rumored to have beef with the rapper --

tweeted, "Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement.

Bardi, this is the only thing that matters!!! Enjoy it."

Cardi B responded to Minaj's tweet saying, "Thank you!! This means so much

coming from you!!" See, nothing but love. The 24-year-old thanked her fans on

Instagram and posted this video.

So, what do you think about Cardi B? Is she a one-hit

wonder, or is she hip hop's new reigning queen?

Science is boring - Duration: 4:54.

if you've been wondering where I've been seeing as I said that I'd make a whole

series about fly videos I have been stuck in this fly lab for about the last

three or four weeks non-stop which alongside moving house has been very

stressful but building a website with Squarespace need not be stressful

I love these tenuous links that's right Squarespace is sponsoring this video

Thank You Squarespace for giving me money for promoting your wonderful

service which is a beautiful website designer simple to use doesn't require

coding you can buy domains on there it has shop functionality and it does

mobile stuff really well it's pretty it's simple and if you want to try it

out for free you can go to squarespace.com/sallylepage for a free trial and

10% off your first purchase so thanks Squarespace use that link to

thank Squarespace for paying me so that it gives me some motivation to upload

videos because my god I have just been sciencing so much recently that yeah

you'll see very very soon like now actually

science is boring I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell it to you but that's

just the way it is when science communicators start calling themselves

science cheerleaders when science presenters are referred to as rock stars

when geek is the new cool is said frequently enough to become a slogan on

a t-shirt you may easily become fooled into thinking that science is

groundbreaking and exciting sure scientific findings can be thrilling

finding out that the bacteria in your gut not only vastly outnumber the cells

in your body but also control your brain okay

that's interesting or finding out that Mars the red planet is only

superficially red and is actually gray just under the surface and we know

because we were able to catapult a one ton robot 560 million kilometres and

land still within three kilometers of the target yeah that's impressive or

even finding out that the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster somehow knows

who its relatives are and can change its mating behavior accordingly yes these

are all cool findings but the act of doing science the process by which we

discover these findings is very often boring and that's not accidental by

testing our predictions over and over again to improve reliability by

randomizing and blinding our experimental design to reduce bias by

meticulously taking records so we can further examine a blip in the data that

might turn out to be important this all creates repetitive boring tedious

science the sort of science where you spend five minutes just writing the

numbers one to 120 on the back of petri dishes yes it's only two and a half

seconds per number but when you're labeling and literally thousands of

dishes vials and tubes you end up spending hours of your

life just writing one number after the next or the science where you're counted

don't get me started on the counting I have spent months with a tally counter

in one hand a box of dead flies in the other just counting months then there's

the science that requires slightly more brain engagement that is no less soul

sucking like painstakingly picking up a particular fly egg with a needle and

putting it in a particular vial and then repeating that 5000 times because that's

what science is science is people doing precise mundane tasks over and over and

over again until they have enough data to find out something new about the

world and the allure of discovery yes it's seductive and exhilarating but

don't be fooled science is boring

What is Sampling? | Music Production | Loudon Stearns | Beginner | Berklee Online - Duration: 3:20.

The word sampling is used in many ways in music production.

So when someone uses the word sampling, or sample,

we must know the context of the word to really understand

what they're talking about.

Imagine someone measuring ocean height.

They put a tall stick in the seabed rising up above the water.

And on that stick are numbered marks at even intervals.

Once every hour, they wade into the water, to the stick,

and write down the number closest to the water level.

Each of the measurements they are taking is a sample.

One could say they are sampling the water level.

They went out once an hour, so their sampling rate is one sample per hour.

Perfect for creating a chart of the tides.

In digital audio, we have a similar situation.

The samples that make up all digital audio

are a stream of individual measurements.

But sound goes way, way faster than the tides,

so we have to sample much, much more often to capture sound.

To chart the tides, we could sample once per hour, but to sample audio

we must sample tens of thousands of times per second.

For music, we usually sample 44,100 times per second.

So we can say the sampling rate for digital audio

when making music is typically 44,100 samples per second.

Longer samples could be a single cycle of a wave form loop

to create a playable synthetic instrument,

or the sound of a single kick drum, or a full measure of a groove.

So really, a sample is a piece of audio from the smallest

possible single measurement of amplitude stored on the computer,

up to the largest file your computer could hold.

Generally, when music producers talk about samples,

we are referring to an audio file with a length

somewhere between a single cycle of a wave form, and a few measures of music.

And we intend to use that piece of audio within another piece of music.

Samples can be placed directly on a timeline and music software,

but for some samples, that doesn't work so well.

A single cycle wave played by itself sounds like a short click.

So, if we want to use that sample, we place it

within a sampling device, often known as a sampler, which

is an instrument that can take that cycle and map it across the keyboard,

allowing for real time improvisation.

There is another usage of the term sample,

and it may be one that you are more familiar with.

Producers often extract or sample a part of an already complete song

to use in their own song.

This method of music making is powerful, and controversial in its own way,

because it allows one artist to build on what

another artist has done, without necessarily asking for permission.

So there are many meanings of the word sample, and we must have that in mind

as we're talking to someone about sampling,

so we can understand what they mean when they're

using this oh so important word.

Edgar Cayce – The Earth Is Catching Up With Time - Duration: 4:13.

Edgar Cayce The Earth Is Catching Up With Time

Edgar Cayce, known as the Sleeping Prophet once stated, The Earth is catching up with

time but what does this mean?

Terence McKennas Timewave Zero theory is based on the premise that time is spiraling

towards the singularity.

Ian Xel Lungold believed that creation is speeding up because theres less time.

Are these three theories related?

Cayce was born on a farm near Hopkinsville, Kentucky on March 18, 1877 where as a youth,

he was learned the ability to absorb information by sleeping on his school books.

At the age of 21, he developed an unknown type of throat paralysis to which doctors

could not find a cure.

Using the same hypnotic technique from his youth, Cayce diagnosed his own medical issue

and restored his voice.

He also discovered that he could do the same for others through a self-induced hypnotic

state of consciousness.

Cayces predictions

Cayce performed this service, which would soon be known as the Cayce Readings.

While in a hypnotic state, Cayce could answer virtually any question about anything, but

his generosity would eventually lead to health issues.

When people used his talents for ego or materialistic reasons, then Cayces health would deteriorate.

Some of Cayces predictions include the beginning and end of both the First and Second

World Wars, the lifting of the Depression in 1933, the deaths of two presidents in office

and as recent as 2011, the sinking of Japan.

Some of Cayces other predictions included earth changes: Watch New York, Connecticut

and the like.

Many portions of the east coast will be disturbed, as well as many portions of the west coast,

as well as the central portion of the United States.

Los Angeles, San Francisco, most of all these will be among those that will be destroyed

before New York, or New York City itself, will in the main disappear.

This will be another generation though, here; while the southern portions of Carolina, Georgia,

these will disappear.

This will be much sooner.

The waters of the Great Lakes will empty into the Gulf of Mexico.

The concept of time

Terence McKenna is best known for his Timewave Zero program which is based on the I-Ching

and reflects time as spiraling towards the singularity which will create a new age of

human entity.

Ian Lungold works on an entirely different premise with a similar result.

Lungolds work is based on the Mayan cycles of creation (referred to as the Underworlds)

and culminates with the belief that everything that could possibly happen, will happen at

the same time.

What does this mean?

Time is linear and is only relevant to this planet.

A day on Earth is calculated by the amount of time it takes for our planet to fully rotate

on its axis.

A day on Mars is similar, but different because it takes Mars approximately 28 hours to revolve

on its axis as it orbits around the sun, proving that time (as we know it) is only relevant

to this planet.

When we cross over to the other side, time, as we know it, no longer exists.

Is it possible that all three men are correct in their suppositions?

As the Earth is catching up with time, are we heading towards the singularity where everything

thats possible will happen at

the same time?
