and I'm about to embark on a meaningful adventure
with one personal mission.
I'm living the life right now.
8 stories.
8 Journeys.
#ThePLAN is to get
Scenezoned.
I was born and raised in the US,
and my mental picture of what the Philippines is like
is confined to my experience
in my hometown in Mindoro
during brief vacations growing up
I never really visited other places.
But through my brother Wil who went back
and stayed here to learn the language and culture,
I realized that there's so much more
to see in this country.
It was only last year when I decided to quit my job in California
and be a travel vlogger.
The past year has been phenomenal.
I got to travel far and wide,
in different continents—
in places I could only dream of.
But there is one place that I should get to know more of:
my homeland, the Philippines.
I know that if I really want to get to know more about home,
I should be willing to get away from the city.
We have 7,641 islands
and I've only been to a few.
So #ThePLAN is to explore more of the Philippines!
I can't wait to set foot in an archipelago
as rich and diverse as the Philippines itself,
and visit its finest:
Coron.
To get to Coron
I need to fly to Busuanga from Manila.
It's a short one hour flight,
and another one hour trip to the place
that had many people all around the world
captivated and spellbound.
We started off the trip
hiking up to Mt. Tapyas.
Climbing the 700 plus steps
was a bit of a workout.
I'm halfway through the hike.
As you can see—glistening all over the place,
and we had to stop because…
get a look at this beautiful view!
It's wonderful!

Onward to the top!
It was nearly the stairway to heaven.
The hike is well worth it.
It's a little bit tiring but it's great.
It's so calming and serene up here,
and it's quiet.
The views of the archipelago of Coron
were stunning.
My first time in Coron
and we're ending the day here watching this beautiful sunset
atop Mt. Tapyas.
Banol Beach is a paradise that's just a short boat ride away.
We were so lucky to have such great weather,
and we really got to enjoy the white sand beaches
and the beautiful, stunning shoreline.
I couldn't help but think,
looking up at these limestone walls,
how tiny and inferior
these majestic rock structures made me feel.
I'm blown away by
how beautiful it is.
I got to speak with Kuya Mark about Coron.

I was completely taken aback
by how the local tribes there
dedicate their lives
to preserving this wonderfully sacred land.
Let's now dive in,
and see the underwater worlds
beneath all this beauty.

So we just arrived here in Balinsasayaw.
Here, under all this beautiful turquoise water
are the coral reefs.
And right now I'm on a floating house,
as you can see all around me
So I'm going to explore underwater Coron,
let's go!
The coral reefs were a pleasant surprise
at the Floating House.
There was so much aquatic life
buzzing around us.
The blue coral reefs were something
I'd never seen before.
If the Tagbanua tribes
can preserve this stunning piece of nature,
why can't we?
Imagine how more beautiful the Philippines can be.
We're here at Skeleton Wreck
and I'm about to go freediving
for my first time around a shipwreck.
What's uuuup?
I'm so excited, I've never done that before.
I'm just gonna…whoop right in there.
It was challenging to hold my breath,
dive into the ship,
and equalize the pressure in my ears
But once I got the hang of it,
it's kind of an addicting feeling—
wanting to explore underneath the familiar land that we live on.
So I'm here at the renowned viewpoint of Lake Kayangan.
That's real—those colors are real!
I learned a lot from talking to Kuya Almer
from the Tagbanua tribe.
Mayroon kaming mga sagradong lugar
na ayaw namin maistorbo 'yun.
So 'yung pinapangarap namin ma'am,
'yung katahimikan lang.
Ganoon lang po.
Araw araw dito kami.
Hanggang sa kahuli-hulihan ng panahon,
dito pa rin 'yung katutubo.
The fact that this island is always handpicked
as the best in the world,
is protected and safeguarded by an indigenous tribe
is not a coincidence.
We arrived at the lagoons
which was just astounding
because the enormous rock structures
are majestically towering
above the turquoise and deep blue waters.
It is so peaceful and quiet—
I can hear my own echo
and I'm not even speaking that loud.
I just couldn't believe how pristine the lake was.
This tribe continues to do this day by day—
preserving this beautiful place,
and allowing everyone in the world to come
enjoy this spot like I did.
I was so overtaken
with awe and wonder
that it actually brought me to tears.
Uh, I had no idea
the Philippines was this beautiful.
It's like, moving me right now,
and I'm like, shaking. I just, I—
I'm not sure if you can see what I'm seeing,
or feel what I'm feeling right now.
I'm so grateful and honored
to have been able to access the Tagbanua tribe
through Almer,
because they have always shied away from the public eye
to preserve their way of life.
I had no idea the Philippines had a place like this.
Nothing can capture the beauty here,
unless you actually come here.
Should I even vlog this?
Thank you to the tribe
who has well-preserved this
because I am at a loss for words—
that's how I feel.
The Tagbanuas are showing us
how establishing a sense of oneness
with various forms of life,
seen and unseen,
could help civilization survive centuries.
This weekend in Coron
made me realize that there's so much more
to explore and learn about the Philippines.
I think all Filipinos
should visit it at least once in their lifetime.
I know this won't be my last.
As a travel vlogger,
getting to know my mother country
and understanding my roots
is actually an adventure in itself.
I will be eternally grateful
and will remember those moments
for the rest of my life.
