sport of soccer ---

Jamey Ward: " in a referee

situation, if you go

unnoticed, you've done the best

job you can, because your their

to help manage the game, but you

Randy: Jamey has overcome a

physical obstacle, he has

Cerebral Palsy. Jamey: " typical

Cerebral Palsy it's a muscular

affliction, I consider myself,

because most people in that

situation there in

wheelchairs, the can't talk, the

can't walk, the have

challenges with that."

Randy: as a child the disease

may have kept him

on the sideline - but as time

passed Jamey didn't let the

cp define him.

Jamey: "In my early teens I was

wearing braces all the time, so

you really couldn't hide it very

much under

your jeans, they hear clicking

down the hall and

those kind of things, so after a

while those came

off, I had three different

surgeries to try and correct

those problems, since my teens I

haven't had those

surgeries, but I will say as I'm

getting older my

achillies are starting to talk

to me a little bit more."

Randy: now Jamey coaches, plays

and refs

soccer and also does it a long

distance running,

maybe you saw him in a his kilt

running in the O'Daly's,

St . Patrick's Day 5k.

Jamey's also in the mix with the

local soccer community

trying to secure a complex that

is capable of hosting

big time tournaments.

Jamey: actually made pretty good

steps with Sage

Park being redone, that's a good

first step for the

challenges we face, but even

right now it's hard out

there to find time and space

even to get out to those

fields they're the best, in a

certain sense it's the only

ones we have."

Randy; Jamey ward's going the

extra mile to make our

community better and he's an

inspiration to others to

stay active.
