The banana island concept is a
simple one we minimize variety just a
bit in order to reduce the stimulation
that people rely upon mostly at their
dinner meal. This frees them up to grow
socially, emotionally, and personally we
guide them through that process giving
great food and everybody's happy on
Banana Island.

I didn't know that it would be such a full package which is
what I'm really enjoying not only are we
working on the food that we're eating or
not eating but we're really working on
sort of the mental and physical and
spiritual, in a way, issues that are
related to food.
To me this is not like a retreat this is like coming
to family right. Only not the kind of family you
normally have, like a family you wish you
had. It's so caring, such a nurturing
environment is the place to be
able to share issues I can hardly share
these issues with myself let alone be able
to sit with so many people and be able
to share and have them share. Such a healing experience.
When you come here
you will meet people that are very authentic,
people that are very courteous, people
that are very loving, everybody's open
and everybody's willing to share and I
think that's what makes it such a
special place.
First of all, I didn't think I could be happy eating only
bananas. But what a treat! We had a
fantastic chef here who made every dish
incredibly delicious and satisfying. I
thought I would be hungry and I was
hardly ever hungry and if I was hungry
it was because I hadn't eaten enough not
because of the kind of food I was eating
and yeah it's just been an
incredible experience.

This week I've learned how easy it is to
do 80 10 10 it's incredible how many
ways you can prepare bananas. We've had
porridge and we've had pancakes and
we've had banana ice cream cereal and
smoothies we've had them be hydrated you
have them fresh we've had some in
bananas toffee logs and cinnamon
rolls. It's amazing how you can take one
fruit and and really transform it and
and that fruit give you so much in
return you know so much energy and I
feel amazing I feel clearer.
I feel refreshed I feel rested at the same time
I feel rejuvenated I feel at peace

I just had full knee replacement surgery
about three months ago and also I'm
arthritic basically from head to toes I
have done things here physically but I
absolutely would never have dreamed I
would have been able to do four days ago
but obviously I must be getting better
climbing a mountain I can hardly walk a
block you know straight and to climb a
mountain for two straight miles going
uphill and then the day before that it
was a four mile walk and the day before
that it was a five-mile walk I
benchpressed, I shot put.
It's going by too fast. It's been a week and it's almost over
and it's so much fun I just we play all
the time it's not exercise we do exercise
classes its play. When we're
talking about food we're having fun. We're
playing games it's it's the easiest
experience you could have and then you
come out with all this knowledge and it
couldn't be any easier to come and do this.

It actually exceeded my expectations I
was definitely expecting to learn more
about 80 10 10 and delve into emotions
and I didn't realize that there were
going to be so many different
instructors and seeing all the different
points of view has been absolutely
wonderful and the way that they've tied
in their lectures has been just really enlightening.
The teachers are just so
filled with wisdom and so excited about
sharing their knowledge and it's a joy
just to be able to experience them in
the flesh so to speak rather than, you
know, I mean their books are wonderful, their
tapes are wonderful, but spending time
with them is a real gift.

I'm gonna be The Man when I leave here.
I'm going 80 10 10 and I am not looking
back. As if there's no stopping
me once I leave here now. I feel like this
time, this time, I have the tools to
actually handle going out in the world
and making this actually work.
