I didn't fully grasp it ,c hew it up,

swallow it, digest and assimilate it into my being

(MUSIC)

So hi everyone. Welcome back to my channel so today we're going to be

speaking about a few things that I did

not learn during my dietetic internship!

So I don't know if this is true for

every dietitian, but a few dietitians I

have met we also same thing. There are

few things that we did not learn during

our dietetic internship. So let's not

waste any time and get right into it. Let

me just first start by saying this is

not to throw shade at any dietetic

internship at any dietitian. No, that is

that the whole entire point of making

this video, but there are some things

that I feel that you do not actually

learn until you're in the field and what

I mean by learn like yes, it's reviewed,

but you don't fully grasp it. I know for

me the type of learner that I am I'm

someone that needs to see the same thing

over and over and over again so that I

can take it, assimilate it, and it become

a part of me. The first thing that I did not learn

was to actually learn how to listen! Let

me be honest with you when I was doing

my out patient diabetes internship the

dietitian did say to me "Kim you need to

read in between the lines." Silence is not

bad a lot of people you know when you're

speaking, especially someone that you

don't know, you try to fill up the

silence with your speech and that's what

I was trying to do in my outpatient

diabetes education. So I have learned

just to do this (SIT IN SILENCE) and have the client

that I'm dealing with talk and talk. You're

able to pick up certain things as they talk.

Active listening is something

that I did not learn during my dietetic internship.

The second thing and I did not

learn in my internship was actually how

to calculate TPN= total parenteral

nutrition, as well as tube feeds. Now during

that rotation I did have a certified

nutrition

support dietitian. She was as smart as a

whip! I will be like, let's let's give her

a name, I don't want to say her name um

Sue! "Sue so slow down, you're losing me." and

then Sue would be like : "Okay, all right

let's do this again let's take it from

the top Bam Bam Bam Bam." And to be honest

with you, it didn't make sense to me at all!

Because again, I think that rotation was

only 2 weeks and I had to learn TPNs

and tube feedings at the same time. We

had the computer there you just plug in

your numbers and it gave you everything,

but she wanted us to do it (the calculations) by with my hand and

I did not know how to do my hand until I

actually became a dietitian. I didn't

fully grasp it chew it up, swallow it,

digest and assimilate it into my being.

So I didn't understand that clinical.

When I actually started working like "OH!

this is what Sue meant; oh this is easy." I

would pull out my calculator I'm like "oh

ok Bam Bam Bam Bam". Tube feeding rates

going to be 50 and you're going to flush

with 150 ml of water every six hours and

they're going to titrate up by 10

milliliters every six to eight hours for

tolerance until the max goal rate of dadada

that is reached. So I was pretty

confident when I actually started

working and this is something that helped

me my R.D. exam because I actually started

working before I actually took my

R.D. exam I was R.D. eligible. TPNs

the same thing! The doctor would say "Oh Kim

I'm starting a patient on a TPN of

sixty four millimeters

and have fifty percent dextrose and

ten percent aminosyn with twenty

percentages lipids every Monday, Wednesday and

Friday. How many calories and protein does

this provide?" If you had asked me that as

a dietetic intern... I would have been like

"REALLY??", but now I know how to do it by

hand. Third thing that I did not know how

to do his paper chart. 'Kim what do you

mean my paper chart?' During my internship

everything was electronical. All your

charting with computerized. Now where I'm

working we do not have a computer-based

charting system. Everything is done with

your hands and with a pen. Not a blue pen

I use a black pen. When you used to typing and

then when you actually have to take the

pen top off and then search through the

chart and just start writing: CARPAL

TUNNEL. (Laughing) I don't have carpal tunnel, but

I'll be honest with you, there are a few

times I thought I had carpal tunnel

based on how my hand was cramping up. Imagine seeing 20 to 25 patients a day and

you're just documenting, your documenting,

your documenting. I did not know how to

paper chart and also with the whole

entire paper charting this has helped me

to learn how to figure out my TPNs and my

tube feedings by hand. Another thing that I

did not learn, it never dawned on me how

important the interdisciplinary team is.

Having your physical therapist, having

your pharmacist, having your social

worker, having your nurse, having your

doctor and rounding with them on a daily

basis. Patient-centered care how

important that is. We do do that during

my internship and I just thought well

"okay?!" Like it didn't click, this up here

it wasn't clicking until I actually

started working in the field and I

realized how each of us even though

we're different disciplines, how it all

becomes integrated

when you're dealing with a patient. So

guys, these are just a few things that I

did not learn during my dietetic

internship. I actually learned it in the

real world, in the workforce. So thank

you guys for watching any dietitians out

there please tell me below what you did

not learn during your internship what

you actually learned being a registered

and licensed dietitian. For any student

out there, anyone finishing their

internship, anyone planning on going into

the field of nutrition and dietetics, if

you have any questions don't hesitate to

leave them below. As usual remember to

subscribe. Thank you guys for watching

PREVENTION IS KEY WHEN IT COMES

TO GOOD HEALTH.

BUT IN TODAY'S FAST-PACED

WORLD, MANY OF US FEEL LIKE WE

CAN'T FIND TIME TO MAKE

APPOINTMENTS AT VARIOUS DOCTOR

OFFICES, GET THE LAB WORK DONE,

GO BACK TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE

AND GET RESULTS.

AFTER ALL OF THAT, YOU FEEL

OKAY, RIGHT?

>> BUT THERE IS A LOT YOU NEED

TO KEEP TRACK OF WHEN IT COMES

TO YOUR HEALTH, TIME IS NO

TO GETTING MANY OF YOUR

SO TO START OFF, THANK YOU FOR

COMING.

>> THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME.

>> WE ARE TALKING ABOUT

SCREENING BUT NOT SOMETHING

THAT REPLACES ALL OF THE DOCTOR

APPOINTMENTS?

>> THAT IS CORRECT.

IT IS AN IMPORTANT POINT TO

MAKE.

HEALTHFEST IS FINDING OUT ABOUT

HOW HEALTHY YOU ARE, HOW TO

BECOME MORE HEALTHY AND HOW TO

STAY HEALTHY.

THE SCREENINGS WE ARE DOING ARE

PRETTY EASY AND WERE NOT IN A

CLINICAL SETTING WITH A FULL

LABORATORY THEY ARE.

IT'S ALWAYS BEST AT YOUR ANNUAL

APPOINTMENT WITH HER PRIMARY

HE OR SHE KNOWS YOU BETTER THAN

WE DO.

THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED

TO DO TO BECOME A HEALTHIER

WE CAN GET YOU POINTED IN THE

>> IT DOES.

>> WHEN DID ACTUALLY START?

GREAT QUESTION, WE DON'T KNOW.

[LAUGHTER]

>> YEAH, WE ARE GREAT AT

I CAN TELL YOU THE DAY WE OPEN

THE DOORS AND WHEN WE DID OUR

FIRST OPEN HEART SURGERY.

I KNOW WHEN THE ROBOT CAME TO

THE OPERATING ROOM, NO IDEA

WHEN HEALTH FAST STARTED.

FOR SOME REASON, NEVER GOT

DOCUMENTED.

BUT THE NURSES WHO HAVE BEEN

THERE LONGER THAN I HAVE BEEN

THERE SHARE WITH ME THEY THINK

IT IS 30 OR 35 YEARS, AND I

BELIEVE THAT.

WE STARTED OUT VERY SMALL AT

THE HOSPITAL BUT LIKE MANY

THINGS, WE OUTGREW.

WE WENT LOOKING FOR A PARTNER

INVENTED OUTSTANDING PARTNER IN

THE WICOMICO COUNTY BOARD OF

SO WE WERE AT PARKSIDE HIGH

>> OH YEAH.

>> AND THEN FOR A FEW MORE

YEARS OF THE WONDERFUL NEW

JAMES M. BENNETT.

IT HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL

RELATIONSHIP.

I AM TELLING YOU, WE CAN HAVE A

BETTER PARTNER THAN WE DO WITH

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, A GREAT

VENUE AND PARTNER.

>> SO YOU MENTIONED A LOT OF

DIFFERENT SCREENINGS, WHAT, 35

OF THEM?

>> THAT'S RIGHT, 35 THROUGHOUT

THE DAY FROM 7:30 UNTIL 12:30

IN THE AFTERNOON.

TYPICAL STUFF YOU WOULD EXPECT

A HEALTHCARE, RIGHT?

HEIGHT, WEIGHT, BODY SCREENING,

VISION, BONE DENSITY AWARENESS,

LEGS FOR LIFE TOUCHSCREENS, AND

ALSO, OUR DIABETES TEAM IS

GOING TO RUN A DIABETES RISK

YOU KNOW WHERE YOU STAND, SO

THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS GOING

ON, PLENTY TO DO, PLENTY OF

>> I KNOW THAT WHEN I DO LAB

TEST AND STUFF, FASTING AND

STUFF LIKE THAT, DO I NEED

FAMILY FREE EVENT.

WE WANT EVERYBODY TO COME OUT

WE HAVE BALLOON ANIMALS, FACE

Dragon Ball Super Titles For Episode 70 71 And 72 - Duration: 2:46.

Dragon Ball Super Titles For Episode 70, 71 And 72

Episode number 69 of Dragon Ball Super is on this week, but now we have information about the titles for future episodes. The new story arc will happen later this month.

Gojiitaaf on Facebook reported on the future episodes that are coming for Dragon Ball Super. Next week is episode 70 and this will be the last "filler".

Episode 70 is called "Champa's Challenge! This Time We Face Off in Baseball" and it's airing on December 11th, 2016. This episode is significant for Yamcha fans because he will be back.

Yamcha has been a joke in the Dragon Ball franchise ever since he "died" back in the Saiyan saga. Many fans have mocked him, so the creators made him a baseball player instead of a fighter now.

Yamcha is said to be better at baseball now so he might be good enough to beat Champa in the sport. This will be another filler episode so expect a lot of comedy to ensue.

Episode 71 is when the new story arc will start. This one has a very alarming title called "Goku Dies! Assassination order that must be performed". It will air on December 18th.

The plot summary suggests that Hit is back and Goku is his next target. We still don't know who wants Goku dead, so this might be the main selling point for this arc.

Episode 72 is called "Counter-attack?An invisible assassination skill!". It's airing on Christmas Day so Dragon Ball Super fans have an early gift. It won't be taking a break like many other TV shows do during Christmas.

Anyway, the new story saga sounds very interesting. Hit is one of the more popular characters to have been created in Super.

It's also great to see that English dubs are finally being made. We will see them in 2017 by both Toonami Asia and Funimation.

My Story/Why I'm an entrepreneur - Duration: 7:21.

hey guys and welcome to my youtube

channel my name is Cassie Ostle and I'm a

brand strategist and a business mentor

for creative entrepreneurs so today I'm

here to say welcome and to

share with you guys a little bit of a

story of how I got started on my

entrepreneurial journey so right out of

college my husband and I decided to move

back to be closer to where we grew up

just close to the family and all of that

so we found that we picked was you know

town in the middle of nowhere Montana

and there were about 30 minutes from any

other big city or even the next smallest

little town that actually had things

going on so we lived in one little town

i have a dr 30 minutes this way to get

to work my husband had wrecked or even

if this way to get to his work

eventually we ended up to where we were

both starving the same direction so we

could carpool or whatnot but when we

first started out we were all 30 minutes

opposite ways so needless to say we were

both always gone and you're both always

busy now the flores assets that part is

to tell you that we lived like i said

here i worked over here and then any

extra activities i did like bowling

league was you know 30 minutes the other

direction so that's a lot of driving so

one day a week whenever I was bowling

league I would be driving at the in a

car all day long basically and all night

long be getting home late from bowling

league so of course one time in the

middle of winter you know black eyes all

of that I ended up getting in a car

accident I hit him S curve and I hit a

patch of black ice and I rolled my car

three and a half times now I landed with

the car upside down with the car rental

roof of course and I can just remember

that feeling once I what the car finally

stopped dinner you know how two moments

that there and think okay what's going

on what do I need to do I remember to

thinking it's immediately like oh my

gosh you know like what's going on what

do i do where am i you know you know all

of those those crazy dots like what's

going to happen next so um luckily I was

okay i can remember like holding on

steering wheel looking down and it okay

i can feel my legs you know everything's

okay we're good to go and of course in

pain you'll say down at this point so

i'm reaching over trying to find my

phone because I know I mean I need to

call 911 and I'm just I'm just trying to

figure out what to do I imagine not to

panic too bad until I had actually made

it out of the car and I was standing in

the middle of field and I didn't really

know which way to

it was and that's when I kind of certain

you're like all right now I'm going to

know what's going to happen but up until

that point I managed to stay pretty calm

and I dentist a call in on one and have

them come on their way around their way

to me I lost the reversible I was

calling to no one so I called my husband

and was like you need to come get me so

I I finally you know figured out where

the highway was and I made it after the

highway and everything turned out okay

the car was of course total but I was

okay I barely even had a scratch or dent

her bruise I was totally fine so the

point of telling you the story though is

it was in that moment and the week solid

afterwards when we had to deal with you

know the financial aftermath and the

logistics of trying to get around with

both my timing to drive different

directions and only having one vehicle

luckily my in-laws you know length our

vehicle to us so we found a solution but

with all about logistics came a lot of

inner thinking and a lot of like I don't

want to live like this anymore I don't

want to have to be driving you know me

that's one of a husband that way forever

we want to write the family and I want

to be able to be home with them

financially speaking that was looking at

that point to be a pretty big obstacle

it looks like that was maybe not ever

going to happen me being able stay home

with the kids but I knew at that point

in time that that's what I wanted that

was trying to my aha moment was you know

me realizing that that wasn't the life

that I want to live I wanted to be able

to stay home with my kids but still

contribute financially so I went on the

path I went on a journey I tried a lot

of direct sales but you know party

planning all that fun stuff and I'm

going to say that I did find a couple

that I wasn't after work and I was

passionate about and they were great and

amazing but in my heart I knew that I

was meant for something different I was

meant for something more so um in 2014 I

started and rotary business and that was

the beginning of my you know awesome

creative dirty I guess I should say so i

started the brewery business and it went

very well kicked off really well i had a

lot of support from you know local

people and my friends and family and I

didn't even really well you know once I

took it online and on the SE and I did

very very well with that um problem with

that was that I was a one-woman show and

I was doing it all by myself so I got to

the point where I got pregnant

my my second child my daughter who you

probably heard in the background right

now but I got pregnant with her and I

had no energy and I had no time left to

devote to do with my rotary business so

I was at the point where I mean either

needed to scale back and hire somebody

else on or I needed to upgrade the

machine and you know figure something

out in that sense so I ended up kind of

scaling back a little bit I didn't take

any new orders at once I got to a

certain point I regnancy and then I just

kind of a kind of held off for a while

on doing anything new I would still love

things trickle in for product for you

know friends and a couple of businesses

that I was doing stuff whore but I

really just kind of held off and I'm

really glad that I did because it opened

up the door for what I'm doing now now I

won't ruin to all the massive massive

details about how it got to where I am

now but let's just say that I tried out

online businesses in a few different

aspects and you know I've done course

creation I've done why have you

different things and it got me to where

you know where I realized that I love to

create things my embroidery business but

one thing that it taught me is that I

love to create whether it's online on

the computer figuring something out or

whether it's crafting sewing whatever

it's creating things so that's where I

started to create logos for you know

local businesses and people that I knew

and I got me into doing branding so I

branded my own business x rays are three

different businesses and that's taught

me a lot so my mission for you guys with

this channel is to help teach you why

it's good to you know the ins and outs

of branding the strategies I will teach

you how to do it yourself and I will

also let you know that I'm here to help

you along the way if you do need help

but this channel this view video that

I'm going to be putting out in the next

few weeks are mostly just all about

trying to teach you that you can brand

it you don't have to go pay the big

bucks to a branch or just or a designer

like myself oh all you can do it

yourself you can use simple tools that

are you know either very cheap or free

and you can do it yourself on all you

really need to know is that you need to

have a clear message going forward and

we will dive into that later on in you

know my next training video but this one

was just so welcome to you know kind of

just let you guys get to know me a

little bit i hope to get to know you a

little bit better i would love it if

watching this if you would drop in the

content where you're from or you know

just say hi let me know you're here

watching let me know if you have any

questions around branding and I will

gladly answer them in an upcoming video

so anyway I hope you have a great day

and I'll catch in the next video and one

thing to know is my kids will almost

always interrupt me when I'm watching me

so you know I apologize if you don't

like watching cason videos but they show

up a lot so this is Madison my youngest

and show you'll see like I said just be

here a lot don't plan on this being a

very formal channel you know there's

going to be outtakes there's going to be

lots of like what's going on is ladies

crazy and I ramble a lot so just be

prepared but that's what I'm here for

again if you have any questions girl

from in the comments and I'll be happy to

answer them

Optune Patient Journey: Meet Sarah | Optune for Recurrent Glioblastoma - Duration: 9:21.

>>PATIENT SARAH: I've been a hairdresser for sixteen plus years, and I have been on Optune

maybe four and a half months.

When I knew you could plug it in, I was like, fine you know, like the battery won't be waking

me up all night.

Yeah, it doesn't really get in my way.

Last year, I was at my friend Alexis, and it was her wedding, and the very next day

the headaches started.

So I just said, Well, maybe I'm a little hungover.

But, it wasn't.

It went on for two weeks.

>>CAREGIVER GARIK: She started losing words.

I would say, What are you doing, you know, what'd you do today at the gym?

And, she would say, I can see it.

I can think of it, but I can't get it out of my mouth.

>>PATIENT SARAH: And, that's when I got a CT scan.

>>CAREGIVER GARIK: Sarah and I have been together for nine years.

The day we met our neuro oncologist was probably the worst day of our lives.

Neither of us had ever heard of GBM before that appointment.

We really didn't know what we were dealing with.

After surgery, our doctor recommended that we undergo radiation and chemo for six weeks.

>>PATIENT SARAH: I didn't really get it.

I didn't do much research.

I was just like, Yeah, whatever, I'm fine.

I'm gonna beat this.

And, then I got to the second one, and we went in and had it removed again.

Um, then that kind of woke me up.

My doctor really is into Optune, and so, he told me that it's a wearable device, non-invasive,

different than chemo.

So, they talked about what you had to do; shave your head.

It has to be bald.

So, every time I was like, No.

No.

No.

And, then finally I was like, Alright, let's do it.

You know it took me a little while.

I hated shaving my head, and it hurt my scar, but once that scar started healing up, um,

it was good.

I mean, would I like not to have cancer?

Well, yes, but you know, I think I'm feeling pretty good; able to work again.

You don't realize how hard it is to not be working.

Ok, we're here; XXX Salon.

Ready to get your hair cut?

Being in public, like when I first got this done, people, they just make faces, and I

don't know what they're saying.

And, because I'm a little bit paranoid, I think they're talking, you know, not very

good.

Um, but then I've had people come up to me and ask, um, Do you have cancer?

Most people are, like anyone in here, no one says anything now.

They've seen me.

It's all good.

>>FRIEND CADEE: I've seen her go through some really difficult times, um, where we didn't

know what the outcome was going to be.

>>PATIENT SARAH: I think how I got adjusted to wearing it was just, yeah, covering it

up as best I could, but without over-heating.

So, I just always put everything to the right, because I'm right-handed.

This flops over, and then I put it on.

I always clip it to my right pant leg because we always pull it to the right, and clipped

it here.

And, then this is my to go.

>>FRIENDS ALEXIS AND KIM: I've known Sarah seven years.

When I first heard that Sarah had cancer, of course, like total devastation.

She's been her best advocate, and taking matters into her own hands, and never sat back like

a victim, ever.

When she first told me that she had to shave her head, I said, Well, if you have to shave

your head, I will shave it with you, and we'll just go on this journey together and be by

you.

This is our grow out right here.

>>PATIENT SARAH: Being a hairstylist and always looking in a mirror, and always looking at

myself, I still think in my head that I'm the blonde that, you know, goes out.

And, then I catch myself in a window, you know, and you're like, Oh yeah, there's that.

But, it's ok, you know, I'm surviving.

So, that matters more to me.

I'm done.

Good?

Yeah?

You guys cleaned up?

I enjoy cutting hair, and I do like to go to work.

And, I've moved to a different space just for the quietness; being around people who

have called me and checked on me.

So, it's like, What is this outfit you're wearing?

Oh, Cool.

And, that's it.

There's no more cancer talk.

So, I like that a lot.

I was nervous just knowing I had to wear this out in public, and I really needed to figure

out ways to hide it.

In the winter, I like wearing these kind of hats because it's so cold, and it covers everything,

including my ears.

I like this for the summer though, because it keeps my head cool.

>>FRIEND CADEE: We'll grab some lunch after this.

>>PATIENT SARAH: Yeah.

>>FRIEND CADEE: Thank you so much.

Have a great day.

>>PATIENT SARAH: Hi, how are you?

Eric is my trainer, and he's fantastic.

He's helped me through this since day one.

When talking to my doctor, we have determined that I can exercise again.

I love working out.

I like to be active, work out, work.

I don't like to sit down until like at least 4 or 5, or it depends on if a good show's

on.

>>CAREGIVER GARIK: Applying the arrays is a learning experience.

Um, you're not going to get it right right off the bat.

I think it took me an hour the first time I put it on, and now we've got it down to

about 15 minutes.

We've got a pretty sweet system.

You're good.

The diagnosis of GBM is a pretty desperate and heartbreaking thing, and so, it's pretty

helpless.

I can't actually physically do anything to help her.

I can be there for support, but I have very little to do with the outcome of this.

Um, and so, the Optune device is actually empowering for a caregiver, because it is

something that you can do.

>>PATIENT SARAH: When I first found out what it was, people were like, You know, there's

only like a year and a half, two years.

No one wants to hear that.

So, you know, studying it on my own, getting the help, doctors, all that has really helped.

>>CAREGIVER GARIK: It's definitely day-by-day.

You gotta take one day at a time.

I am definitely living more in the now.

We really appreciate the good days.

It's going to mess up my make-up.
