I've heard many reasons why would-be students of singing don't take voice lessons.
Inside this video I'll highlight the top 5 reasons for not taking voice lessons and
I'll "bust them"!
Hi I'm Chuck Gilmore with Power To Sing.
I've taken and taught voice lessons for years.
During this time I've heard many reasons for not taking voice lessons.
Here are the top 5 reasons for NOT Taking Voice Lessons
I've heard these multiple times.
#1: I'm No Good at Singing
I know many teachers that will take a non-singer who's motivated to learn and make them singers.
Those same teachers also will take a singer who want's to improve and makes them better.
If you think you're no good at singing that's a great reason to start taking lessons.
#2: I Don't Have Any Money
Will you eat tonight?
Tomorrow?
The next day?
Then you have money.
What you're saying is I don't want to learn to sing intensely enough to make the
sacrifice of time and effort to get the money to take singing lessons.
If you want it badly enough, you will find a way.
A favorite quote of my from years ago is attributed to Ella Wheeler Wilcox
"There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can circumvent or hinder or control the
firm resolve of a determined soul."
A determined soul will find a way to afford lessons.
Period.
#3: I Can Learn To Sing On My Own
Yes you can, maybe.
Some people have done it.
I know at least two.
The rest spend hours, days, months, years watching YouTube videos, watching Idol or
The Voice or anything but actual lessons and never make any breakthroughs in their own
voices.
#4: Voice Teachers are Scammers.
Yes, probably some are.
In every field of life there are scammers.
So you've go to find someone reputable, trustworthy and experienced.
When you do, hire them and get some help.
It's likely you'll be surprised how fast you improve.
#5: There Aren't Any Good Teachers Where I Live
Try SKYPE or other online options.
Try courses.
As you're learning to sing, face to face lessons can be very powerful and effective.
Even if just a few to make sure you're on track.
Here are Three Reasons You Absolutely Should Take Singing Lessons
Number 1: A trained instructor will hear things you're not able to hear in your own voice
and will be able to help you.
You'll get better, faster.
Number 2: With the right teacher, You'll save 100's of hours or more.
Your progress will be rapid.
As a result you will save $100's of dollars instead of wasting time (and money) trying
to find improvement for free.
Number 3: You could be singing and performing and happier so much sooner.
Instead you've been stranded in "Vocal Neverland" trying to learn on your own.
Personally I've spent 1000's of dollars on lessons, courses, workshops and seminars
taking voice lessons and learning to teach.
I've always improved with every investment that I've made.
I've never regretted 1 cent spent on my voice or my teaching.
Caveat: Even the best teachers sometimes don't match up well with everyone.
If you don't get the progress you're looking for, and you've done the work, change teachers.
Learning your vocal type and practicing exercises for your vocal type is a great way to improve
your voice rapidly.
Do you know your vocal type?
Go to PowerToSing.com and take the vocal test which I call the PowerTest.
Take the quiz and discover your vocal type.
Then go to the Knowledge Center and watch the videos about your vocal type.
Download the free exercises for your vocal type and start improving your voice rapidly.
These exercises will help you experience real vocal progress now and get you ready to take
singing lessons from a skilled singing teacher.

Park at detention center for up to 20 days during investigation - Duration: 1:52.
Park will have to get used to life at the detention center, as she will be there for
the duration of the investigation.
According to ou Kim Hyesung, the ex-president will receive no special treatments while in
custody.
A physical examination and then into green prison garb with her prisoner number emblazoned
on the chest.
Early Friday morning, former President Park Geun-hye was transfered to the Seoul Detention
Center.
Located 15 kilometers south of the capital, the detention center is going to be the ousted
president's new home for up to 20 days as prosecutors continue their investigation.
"Former president Park will be given a one-person cell separate from ordinary detainees.
From nine a.m. to six p.m, Park will have unlimited access to her lawyers, but she will
be allowed only one visitor a day, unless given special permission by the head of the
detention center."
The size of Park's cell hasn't been officially confirmed but it's believed to be a little
over six-and-a-half square meters in area... with a folding mattress, a TV, a toilet and
a sink -- similar to the cell assigned to former President Roh Tae-woo when he was arrested
at the Seoul Detention Center.
Upon her arrival, all her personal belongings were taken away.
According to the rules, Park will have to get up up around 6 a.m., it's lights out at
8 p.m., and all her meals will be served at the center.
Other high profile figures implicated in the massive corruption scandal are being detained
in the same facility, including Samsung's de facto boss Lee Jae-yong, Park's confidante
Choi Soon-sil, and several of Park's former top aides and officials.
Men and women are held in seperate blocks, and according to the Korea Correctional Service,
none of the suspects will be allowed any contact with each other.

What are different pathways for scaling up quality learning? - Duration: 4:12.
The central question of Millions
Learning is where and how quality
education for children and young people
has scaled in low- and middle-income
countries around the world. In the
Millions Learning study, the term
"scaling" is used to represent a range of
pathways, from a more deliberate
replication to a more organic process of
diffusion, that both expand and deepen
effective approaches that lead to
lasting improvements in people's lives.
There are four key pathways that can be
pursued when scaling up impact. The first,
horizontal scaling, is about reaching
more people and places. This pertains to
the breadth of coverage of an
intervention, the expansion from one
geographic area to another to reach more
people in communities. The second,
vertical scaling, is about policy
adoption, moving initiatives from local
to nationwide engagement. Third,
organizational scaling, strengthening
capacity. This involves increasing
organizational strength to improve
effectiveness, efficiency, and
sustainability of activities. Fourth,
functional scaling, more activities. This
relates to the expansion of the type of
activities or areas of engagement.
Oftentimes these scaling pathways are
pursued in combination with one another.
In the Millions Learning study we
examined cases that for the most part
began on the margins of the mainstream
education system before the idea spread
and was taken up more broadly. Two
strategies for scaling quality learning
from the margins include: 1) Idea
adoption and 2) Delivery innovation. Idea
adoption involves spreading new
approaches across an education ecosystem.
An example of this can be seen in lesson
study in Zambia, a Japanese-originated
practice of peer-to-peer collaborative
learning for teachers that is now being
implemented across all 10 provinces in
Zambia. Delivery innovation consists of
innovating an education delivery often
for marginalized communities. Sistema de
Aprendizaje Tutorial, or SAT, is
a good example of this strategy as it
delivers an alternative secondary
education program
tailored for rural youth living in Latin
America. Lesson study, an in-service
teacher collaborative learning approach
that originated in Japan has now been
adapted to over 50 countries around the
world, including Zambia. In Zambia, the
strategy, led by the government, has
reached more than 2 million students and
approximately fifty-two thousand
teachers. Impact assessments consistently
found that higher levels of lesson study
practice in schools were correlated
with higher student achievement on
national exams. In Zambia central province,
after three years of lesson study,
student pass rates on grade 12 science
exams were twelve percent higher than in
provinces without lesson study. SAT is
an alternative secondary education
program that combines relevant theory
with hands-on practice for marginalized
youth living in Latin America. Developed
by a Colombian NGO in the 1970s, it is
currently being implemented in Brazil,
Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, and Nicaragua,
and has reached an estimated three
hundred thousand students to date. More
specifically in Colombia and Honduras, SAT is
accredited and recognized by the
governments. An impact evaluation in
Honduras found that after two years,
children living in SAT villages
outperformed their peers from
traditional secondary schools and other
rural areas by 45%. In Millions Learning
our focus on scaling is not about
expanding a brand or rolling out a fixed
model but rather about identifying the
common underlying factors that
contribute to spreading effective
teaching and learning practices. At the
end of the day our interest is in
scaling impact, ensuring that millions of
children and young people have the
knowledge and skills needed for their
lives today and into the future. Click

Transparent Facilitation - Duration: 4:35.
Hi everybody, Hey it's Craig Freshley here.
Sometimes when you're facilitating a meeting you don't know what to do.
Maybe there is a tension, disagreement, or overtime on the agenda, and it's honestly
not clear to me what we should do.
In that situation I tend to default for something I call "facilitation transparency."
I kind of think out loud in front of the group.
I might say something like this, "Okay look everybody, I know that we are over-time on
the agenda but it's honestly not clear to me what we should do.
Here's what I'm thinking.
I'm thinking that Ron's point is really good and a lot of you agree with it and think that
we should take time to figure that out.
But I'm also seeing from the body language that a lot of you are not totally comfortable
with moving forward with that idea.
And I can't figure out whether we should continue to spend time on this or not so I don't know
what could we do.
Maybe.....well one thing we could do is we could extend the length of the meeting.
We could all agree that this is worth spending time on....let's spends more time on it.
We could send this to a committee and ask them to think about this idea and maybe come
back.
We could take a little anonymous poll here.
I could pass out some index cards and I could ask you all to give your opinions, hand them
in to me, we'll take a break, and then I'll come back with a recommendation to the group
on what we should do based on what you told me anonymously.
I don't know. Those are just three ideas to proceed."
Look, here's what I find.
If I do like I just did in a meeting -- make myself a little vulnerable, just think out
loud -- for one thing it gives me time to think about what to do.
And secondly, it invites everyone into a group perspective.
I'm bringing everyone along with me and thinking about how to best serve the group.
Thirdly, it gives each of them time to think about what could be best.
And more often than not, resolution emerges.
It usually happens of one of three ways.
Usually the most common thing is that as I'm doing my thinking out loud on the spot, I'm
able to assess the body language or the facial expressions of the people around the table
-- we can all do that -- and the right thing to do becomes self-evident.
That happens 80% of the time!
A second thing that might happen is somebody -- one of them -- might have like, a perfect
solution that none of us has thought about.
A third thing is that it might become clear to me what to do in that situation.
I know that there is a resistance to admitting that you don't know what to do.
When you're the guy or the gal at the front of the room leading the group you don't want
to say, "I don't know what to do here."
However as facilitators I believe it's our job to reflect the group.
And you know what?
If I don't know what to do here and if I'm being the true neutral facilitator, the group
probably doesn't know what to do here and it is perfectly appropriate for me to reflect
that to the group.
The other thing I've learned is that if I pretend to know more than I really do -- if
I am not genuine and transparent as a facilitator -- that is not going to serve the group well.
And I'm probably not going to get invited back.
So I am making an appeal for facilitator vulnerability, for facilitators to reflect the group, for
facilitation transparency.
Thanks for listening everybody.

Anticipation and hope surround Sewol-ho ferry's arrival in Mokpo - Duration: 3:54.
Staying with the Sewol-ho operation, but moving away from the numbers and the updates for
a change.
Our Lee Ji-won turns the spotlight to those in the thick of the efforts to uncover the
truth, and the emotional wait for the bereaved families.
A group of religious leaders gathered at Seomang-hang Harbor on Korea's southwestern coast.... early
Tuesday morning... along with the families of the nine people who are still missing after
the Sewol-ho ferry sinking.
They gathered to hold a series of religious rites... at the place where the vessel was
docked at sea... to pray for the successful recovery of their loved ones.
"Though we are all of different faiths,... we are gathered here today to pray for the
successful recovery of the nine missing bodies... and for the souls of the missing to rest in
peace."
Standing 100 kilometers from the vessel, the last place their loved ones were seen,...
the families throw yellow roses into the water... sending out a wish that their sons and daughters
will soon be found.
"Let's go home now.
Your mom will find you, and you do your best to come back to me."
The sound of the moktak, a wooden handbell used by Korean monks,... was sent out over
the water... and a few minutes later, prayers were read for the families and their loved
ones.
"We're finally seeing the sunken Sewol-ho ferry.
Please help us find the last nine victims in the vessel."
Nearly three years after that fateful day, the families are bracing themselves for the
days and weeks ahead... when a search of the recovered vessel will be undertaken alongside
an investigation into what caused the ship to go down.
To prepare for the actual investigation, the families scheduled their first meeting with
the members of a special Sewol-ho committee on Wednesday.
The committee -- which consists of maritime and shipping technology experts, five elected
by lawmakers and three by the victims' families -- was inaugurated by lawmakers on Tuesday.
It will oversee both the search of the missing victims and an investigation into the exact
cause of the sinking... and will manage any items that are recovered from the vessel.
It will have six months to do its work, with the option of a four-month extension.
There was a good deal of argument at the meeting over a number of requirements the families
had hoped the committee would agree to, including that the committee will consult with the families
before deciding how to proceed with the search.
While the committee said they do not have the authority to agree to all of the families'
requests, they promised to fulfill some of them.
"We promise to give the families our plan for the search for the missing by April 5th."
As the ill-fated Sewol-ho finally arrived at Mokpo New Port on Friday afternoon,...
port officials had already been busy preparing the area for the investigation.
Some 50 shipping container offices were ready for use by those running the search and investigation
operation... and telecommunications equipment and a press center had been installed.
"Now that the Sewol-ho is in its final resting place, there is high anticipation and hope
that the families of the missing will find their loved ones... and the cause of the disaster
will be found... so Korea can finally move on from the tragedy that's kept it in its
grips for nearly three years.

Q1 Goal Results. The past 3 months reviewed **Warning! Nearly Naked 🍆🙈** setting new goals for Q2 - Duration: 8:08.
welcome to fat over 40 my name is miles
and in this episode we're gonna see if I
hit my goals for the last three months
now if you're new to the channel please
subscribe as a new film every single
Friday and if you like what you hear
then please give us a fat thumbs up but
more importantly coming down below let
me know what your goals have been for
the last three months and whether or not
you take them so quick recap had three
main goals for the previous quarter the
first one was to get my body weight
under 100 kilos that's 220 pounds or
1577 the second one was a weight related
one and it was lift over 200 kilos in
the deadlift and the third one was to
beat my 500 meters running time of one
minute fish soup so let's start off with
my weight drumroll please I weighed in a
couple of days ago at 99.1 kilos so I
did manage to break that that 100 kilo
sort of magic barrier eluded me for
months and months months months months
so my current weight is 99.1 kilos which
is 218 pounds or 1576 so I definitely
haven't been like 15 and a half stone
for a long long long time yeah I started
off in January at 104 kilos and I'm
ground of 99 so I've lost about 5 kilos
in the last three months I've got some
of the steps to you as well my body fat
has gone from 24.3 down to 20.4 so you
know four percent reduction of body fat
again I'm really happy with that the fat
around my organs my visceral fat has
gone from 12 to 10 and my metabolic age
has gone from 46 to 34 hey would you
think like that so really really pleased
there in terms of my measurements I take
somebody kalapana Sherman's with my PT
and some you know some measure
measurements and adds up my triceps have
gone from 30
30 32 32 each of two so that's good my
back I know I've seen a big difference
in my back when not I am seeing it but
in the mirror I see my back was 55 and
it's now 35 so a lot of 20 there on my
back fat so again I'm super super happy
with that my apps have come from 42 to
40 my hips have gone from 43 to 14 1 so
again it was a couple of inches around
my mid ripped and my legs 22 and 21 at
once 22 and 20 too soft on a little bit
of muscle on my skinny-leg so again
that's good too and you can see by my um
my overall body if you like yes oh sorry
about this sorry about the sebi native
partly going on you but you know
ultimately I need to sort of share with
you how I'm looking you know I'm still
not happy with the amount of drop you
known since the size of my belly so I'm
going to continue to sort of chip away
that in terms of at the body is starting
to take sort of nice shape everything
seems to be sort of firming up I think I
just need to keep doing what I'm doing
so there we go my second gold was
selected over 200 kilos in the deadlift
and you may have seen a spotter on
Instagram with this I did fail I was
five kilos short i managed to when it
was a personal best i managed to lift a
hundred ninety five kilos that's 430
pounds or 37 so you know look I'm super
happy with where I got to but to be
honest here I just think I just got a
little bit like overwhelmed when it came
to ya to drive live for 200 so I suppose
like with a lot of sports men and women
getting your head in the game is half
about and I just I
I was mentally prepared on the day but
i'll keep that I keep that goal running
over my third one was to get under a
hundred and thirty one minute 32 in my
500 meter row and unfortunately I
haven't managed to beat that time either
I think I set a pretty good time in the
first place but I just can't I just
can't get close to that at the moment
but i will persevere so i want to set
some new goals for the next three months
I don't want to mix it up a little bit
I'm not going to set myself a sort of a
weight goal in terms of getting myself
to a particular way yes I want to
continue to lose weight and I think we
should look at some of the sort of
subsets so my body fat has gone down it
was 24.3 and it's now down at 20.4 so
i'm going to send myself an aggressive
body fat target of seventeen percent
that's what i want to try to achieve in
the next three months my abs are my hips
I want to try and get those measurements
under 38 my back I want to try and get
that down to 30 if I can my back went
from looking from 55 to 35 so another
five off my back and I'll be pretty
happy there I'll still keep my deadlift
target 200 kilos I'm going to persevere
with that with my road to 200 I'm gonna
sort crack on I'm going to change of my
car do my cardio goal i'm going to use
something called the assault bike and if
you don't know what an assault by looks
like it looks like this it is probably
one of the most disgusting bits of
machinery i've ever used but a couple of
weeks ago I did a ten-minute maximum
effort and see how many calories like a
bird within that time and I managed to
burn 132 calories on the assault bike
for 10 minutes later-- so that's going
to be my benchmark and I'm going to work
on that over the next few months and
i'll test myself again in three months
time there's one more fitness goal that
I want to try and achieve and that's
something called a double under it's
basically skipping where you pass the
road underneath feed twice it's
something I haven't managed to be able
to do yet my sort of single and there's
all my Skippy's
he's coming on nicely I just need to put
a bit extra fit in and try and get these
mm so i'll be doing a little series if
you have informed me on instagram and
then check that out that's where i post
most of my sort of working out videos
for you to see now i do want to set
myself a big challenge I've done some
muddy runs in the past that my knee just
can't handle running at the moment so
I'm thinking of like a sort of good bike
challenge or a good walking challenge or
rowing change a little think imma set
myself quacks or big aggressive of
challenge in the next three months and
i'll let you know what I website now
second goal I have done a set in Gold's
video if you haven't set yourself any
gold then I suggest that you do and it's
always good sort of push yourself and
aim for something but don't forget you
need to refer to them don't just look
like grow our yeah I've set myself some
gold and then in three months time
you're like what would what would my
gold skin you know you do have to keep
referring to them regularly and
reminding yourself of what your goals
are and try and you know in everything
you do try and make sure that you're
pushing towards achieving those goals
yeah now if you haven't seen the
original video when i set my goals you
can check that out here if you haven't
seen the lazy button video with Jessica
in here and if you haven't subscribed
what are you waiting for trivia and if
you make one change this week set some
goals for the next three months so you
don't die five

Federal Flash: 3/31/17: An Update on Education Funding; Staffing Issues at ED; and Lifeline Setbacks - Duration: 4:31.
Hello, and welcome back to Federal Flash.
I'm Phillip Lovell, and I'm joined by Nikki McKinney.
Next week, Congress leaves town for its spring break.
And like many students facing upcoming mid-term exams, the House and Senate have a midterm
of their own, they must pass a bill to fund the federal government for the remaining five
months of the fiscal year.
Current funding expires on April 28th, and the stakes are particularly high since House
Republicans couldn't deliver on their campaign promise to repeal and replace the Affordable
Care Act.
This week, President Trump made their job just a bit more difficult.
For that, we'll turn to Nikki.
Thanks, Phillip.
Last Friday, President Trump sent Congress a list of possible cuts to the education budget
that would go into effect this coming school year.
These cuts are in addition to the 13.5 percent cut he proposed for next year, which we discussed
in the last episode of Federal Flash.
For this year, he's proposing $3 billion in cuts to the Department of Education.
It's unusual for a president to propose cuts this late in the process, and since a lot
of work has been done on the legislation we don't think his proposal will have much of
an impact on the coming school year.
Representative Tom Cole, a Republican from Oklahoma who chairs the House subcommittee
that funds the Department of Education, said quote "it's a little late in the process.
We've closed out our bills...
No entering administration should be negotiating the budget for the year it's in, because they
don't have the people there to do it... in order to make intelligent decisions and even
recommendations."
End quote.
While the president's proposal for more cuts will hopefully have little impact next school
year, it definitely demonstrates where his priorities are, or more to the point, it shows
what's not a priority for him.
Thanks, Nikki.
It looks like Congress is helping on the budget, at least for now.
On other matters, not so much.
In fact, it looks like the education accountability regulation isn't the only good idea being
rescinded in Washington.
According to press reports, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos offered a key position at the
Department of Education to New Mexico's Secretary of Education, Hannah Skandera, only to have
to take back the offer after Senate Republicans balked because Skandera has supported the
common core.
This is a real missed opportunity because Skandera would have brought valuable experience
in education policy to the Department.
It's also unfortunate that it seems the politics of common core still loom large in Washington,
even though the issue has largely been settled in the states
The Department's loss is New Mexico's gain.
Thanks, Phillip.
In other news, a few weeks ago, you may recall our story on how the new Federal Communications
Commission Chairman Ajit Pai undercut the FCC's planned expansion of home internet access
to low-income families.
Last week, more than 50 school district superintendents sent the FCC a letter asking it to reverse
its decision, saying, quote "High-quality home internet access is as essential to learning
today as traditional text books were thirty years ago."
It looks like Chairman Pai is taking yet another step to slow the expansion of broadband to
low-income households.
Instead of allowing providers to be licensed at the federal level, he wants providers to
be licensed at the state level.
In other words, instead of dealing with one bureaucracy, a company that wants to provide
home internet access to low-income families nationwide would have to deal with 50 state
bureaucracies.
In response, Keith Krueger, CEO of the Consortium for School Networking told the Wall Street
Journal, "It's going to hurt rural and smaller states because of the time and effort that

6 Clever Ways To Use Coconut Oil For Gorgeous Hair - Duration: 3:22.
One of the most versatile products out there today is coconut oil.
It tastes delicious.
But, did you know it could be a helpful and effective health and beauty product?
In today's video, it will be discussed how hair can reap the benefits of coconut oil.
1.
Reverses Hair Damage Research has shown that coconut oil can prevent
the loss of any protein in the hair, as well as strengthen the hair shaft.
Coconut oil can also repair split ends that occur when the hair is due for trimming.
2.
Prevents Hair Loss The healthy fats contained in coconut oil
help to nourish the scalp, fight inflammation and prevent any infections that may occur
on the skin.
Simply take 3 tbsp of coconut oil and 2 tbsp of sage.
Mix together and cook over low heat until combined.
Let it cool fully.
Then, before bed, apply the mixture to the hair and scalp.
Cover the head and leave in overnight.
Then, wash out in the morning.
3.
Fights Dandruff Dandruff is a chronic condition that causes
a dry, flaky scalp.
Coconut oil can fight any on-going infection and can hydrate the dry, flaky skin that has
occurred.
Mix equal parts of coconut oil and castor oil.
Then, massage into scalp and leave in for 30 minutes.
Then, thoroughly wash out.
This method is safe to use with each washing.
4.
Smooths Hair Since frizziness is caused by dry skin and
dry hair shafts, coconut oil can help.
Coconut oil will hydrate the hair, from strand to shaft to scalp.
Simply apply some coconut oil to your hair ten to fifteen minutes prior to shampooing.
This will leave your hair smooth and silky.
5.
Reverses Gray Hair Coconut oil helps to restore the dying or
dead pigment cells that reside at the end of the hair strand.
It hydrates your scalp and the hair follicles.
Use coconut oil mixed with lemon in your hair.
Massage for at least fifteen minutes each day.
6.
Prevents Lice Lice are very common little critters that
get into the heads of young children.
However, lice treatment shampoos are very strong and can burn their scalps and necks.
Instead, coconut oil can be used to hydrate the scalp and repel these itchy little mites.
Coconut oil will create a coating over the lice and suffocate them.
It will also prevent the eggs from sticking to the hair follicles.
Adding a few drops of tea tree oil will strengthen the treatment even more.
To use, simply add coconut oil to the scalp and hair, then leave in for several days.
The oil will become absorbed and then you can re-apply.
So, have you added coconut oil to your hair regime?
Have you tried any of these methods?
Let us know in our comment section.
