Earth-Like Jet-Stream Waves Exist on the Sun --"Acts Like a Vast Magnetized Ocean"
The same kind of large-scale planetary waves that meander through the atmosphere high above
Earth's surface may also exist on the Sun, according to a new study led by a scientist
at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR).
Just as the large-scale waves that form on Earth, known as Rossby waves, influence local
weather patterns, the waves discovered on the Sun may be intimately tied to solar activity,
including the formation of sunspots, active regions, and the eruption of solar flares.
"The discovery of magnetized Rossby waves on the Sun offers the tantalizing possibility
that we can predict space weather much further in advance," said NCAR scientist Scott McIntosh,
lead author of the paper.
The study will be published March 27 in the journal Nature Astronomy.
Co-authors are William Cramer of Yale University, Manuel Pichardo Marcano of Texas Tech University,
and Robert Leamon of the University of Maryland, College Park.
The research was funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), which is NCAR's sponsor,
and by NASA.
On Earth, Rossby waves are associated with the path of the jet stream and the formation
of low- and high-pressure systems, which in turn influence local weather events.
The waves form in rotating fluids -- in the atmosphere and in the oceans.
Because the Sun is also rotating, and because it's made largely of plasma that acts, in
some ways, like a vast magnetized ocean, the existence of Rossby-like waves should not
come as a surprise, said McIntosh, who directs NCAR's High Altitude Observatory.
And yet scientists have lacked the tools to distinguish this wave pattern until recently.
Unlike Earth, which is scrutinized at numerous angles by satellites in space, scientists
historically have been able to study the Sun from only one viewpoint: as seen from the
direction of Earth.
But for a brief period, from 2011 to 2014, scientists had the unprecedented opportunity
to see the Sun's entire atmosphere at once.
During that time, observations from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), which sits
between the Sun and the Earth, were supplemented by measurements from NASA's Solar TErrestrial
RElations Observatory (STEREO) mission, which included two spacecraft orbiting the Sun.
Collectively, the three observatories provided a 360-degree view of the Sun until contact
was lost with one of the STEREO spacecraft in 2014.
McIntosh and his co-authors mined the data collected during the window of full solar
coverage to see if the large-scale wave patterns might emerge.
"By combining the data from all three satellites we can see the entire sun and that's important
for studies like this because you want the measurements to all be at the same time,"
said Dean Pesnell, SDO project scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt,
Maryland.
"They're pushing the boundary of how we use solar data to understand the interior of the
sun and where the magnetic field of the sun comes from."
The team used images taken by instruments on SDO and STEREO to identify and track coronal
bright points.
These small bright features dot the entire face of the Sun and have been used to track
motions deeper in the solar atmosphere.
The scientists plotted the combined data on Hovmller diagrams, a diagnostic tool developed
by meteorologists to highlight the role of waves in Earth's atmosphere.
What emerged from the analysis were bands of magnetized activity that propagate slowly
across the Sun -- just like the Rossby waves found on Earth.
The discovery could link a range of solar phenomena that are also related to the Sun's
magnetic field, including the formation of sunspots, their lifetimes, and the origin
of the Sun's 11-year solar cycle.
"It's possible that it's all tied together, but we needed to have a global perspective
to see that," McIntosh said.
"We believe that people have been observing the impacts of these Rossby-like waves for
decades, but haven't been able to put the whole picture together."
With a new understanding of what the big picture might really look like, scientists could take
a step closer to predicting the Sun's behavior.
"The discovery of Rossby-like waves on the Sun could be important for the prediction
of solar storms, the main drivers of space weather effects on Earth," said Ilia Roussev,
program director in NSF's Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences.
"Bad weather in space can hinder or damage satellite operations, and communication and
navigation systems, as well as cause power-grid outages leading to tremendous socioeconomic
losses.
Estimates put the cost of space weather hazards at $10 billion per year."
But to advance our predictive capabilities, scientists must first gain a better understanding
of the waves and the patterns that persist on them, which would require once again having
a 360-degree view of the Sun.
"To connect the local scale with the global scale, we need to expand our view," McIntosh
said.
"We need a constellation of spacecraft that circle the Sun and monitor the evolution of
its global magnetic field."

8 Amazing Benefits of Clary Sage Essential Oil - Duration: 5:46.
It is of no surprise that our bodies change as
we age. This is particularly true for women, who tend to experience unpleasant symptoms,
including hot flashes, memory loss and mood swings. Luckily, essential oils can help.
One oil in particular, clary sage oil, offers many benefits to older women. Today's video
will discuss these benefits and how to properly use this oil.
1. Tackles Menstrual Pain Clary sage can reduce, or eliminate entirely,
the symptoms and discomforts of PMS. This includes, but is not limited to, cramping,
bloating, food cravings and mood swings. Research by the Oxford Brooks University has also shown
that this essential oil can be of benefit during childbirth, as it can cause relaxation
and alleviate pain. It is recommended to use this essential oil as a massaging lotion.
Mix five drops into some coconut oil to create a nice, aromatic massaging lotion.
2. Treats and Prevents Infections Clary sage also has antiseptic properties,
which means it can clean out wounds and prevent infections. However, essential oils tend to
be very strong. That is why a little can go a long way. So, only use a few drops in the
wound and no more than five at any given time.
3. Balances Hormones Clary sage helps the body with the production
of estrogen. It can also help with the body's uterine health and prevent uterine and ovarian
cancers. It is important to produce the correct amount of estrogen, no more, no less. An excessive
amount of estrogen can cause estrogen-based cancer, polycystic ovaries and infertility.
The essential oil can also help with depression, by increasing the cortisol levels.
4. Improves Skin Clary sage has the ability to reduce inflammation,
reduce the appearance of rashes and prevent acne breakouts. It keeps the skin moist, supple
and elastic. This oil can also reduce the signs of aging by filling in wrinkles and
clearing up blotches.
5. Reduces Stress Clary sage can help the body relax by reducing
any stress or anxiety that is plaguing you. As such, it can increase confidence and help
you become more mentally strong and ready to face the day. For best results, add 6 drops
of clary sage essential oil with 2 drops of either frankincense or orange essential oil
into a diffuser. Results should occur quickly.
6. Improves Circulation Since clary sage oil relaxes the body, it
can also relax muscles and arteries. Therefore, it reduces blood pressure and helps aid in
circulation. Because oxygen is flowing more efficiently and bountifully, the body's
metabolic rate increases, also. Simply mix 6 drops clary sage oil, 12 drops mandarin
oil, 6 drops of rose geranium and 3 drops of cinnamon. Place all into a spray bottle
and then fill the rest of the way with water. Then, spray over body and face as needed.
7. Helps Digestion and Cholesterol Clary sage oil helps to produce stomach bile
and gastric juice. Therefore, it speeds up metabolism while reducing bloating, cramps
and indigestion. It can also help to regulate bowel movements and prevent constipation.
It can also help to protect the heart and naturally lower cholesterol levels. For best
results, it is recommended to massage a mixture of the oil and coconut oil directly onto your
abdomen. You can also use a hot compress with 5 drops of clary sage essential oils soaked
into it.
8. Helps Sleep Since clary sage oil promotes relaxation,
it is an excellent all-natural sedative. You can make a balm at home to assist in this.
To do that, mix 10 drops of clary sage oil with 10 drops lavender essential oil and place
in a double boiler. Add ½ cup coconut oil, ½ cup olive oil and ½ cup beeswax. Stir
for approximately ten minutes and the pour into containers to cool. Then, apply directly
to skin to promote a deep, relaxing sleep.
It is important to note that clary sage should not be used, especially directly on the abdomen,
by pregnant women. The oil is absorbed into the body and can affect the growing fetus
and cause uterine contractions. It is also not recommended to combine clary sage oil
with alcohol, or consume alcohol before or after using the oil. This mixture can cause
insomnia and nightmares. And, as always, consult your doctor prior to adding new supplements
to your daily regime.
Were you aware of this essential oil and all of its benefits? Have you tried clary sage
oil and experienced some of these benefits? Let us know in our comment section.

Microblading Permanent Eyebrow Tattoo In Slo Mo | Macro Beauty | Refinery29 - Duration: 5:39.
Come closer.
Really, really close.
Honestly, I'm not really sure what microblading is.
I think it's like a tattoo.
This is Natasha.
Like every other girl growing up, I over-waxed my eyebrows.
And they never grew back.
Now I want full eyebrows all the time and it's very difficult to make them look perfect
so, that's why I'm doing it.
So the biggest trend in eyebrows is microblading.
This is Tonelle.
She's an expert microblade technician.
We deposit pigment under the skin using a blade.
The blade's made up of 12 needles.
We just go into the brow, do a little hair incision, place pigment on top of that.
And once we wipe that away, it looks like natural hair.
So microblading gives many advantages.
It gives everybody an opportunity to wake up with natural, full brows instead of having
to maintain them everyday.
That's really beautiful.
Yeah, I think you're right.
Capturing some of the black.
First, the brows are brushed
upwards and out.
Stray hairs are plucked.
Then, they are trimmed.
The ideal shape is drawn onto the skin.
And now it's time for the cut.
When people come in typically for a consultation, the number one question is, "Does it hurt?"
It might hurt.
I'm a little nervous about the pain but not too much.
I've had several tattoos and if I can handle that, I can handle this.
Very true.
Oh wow, that sounds awful.
Um...
It's tolerable.
The blades make the tiniest incisions
that are filled with dye.
It looks so natural.
Okay whenever you're ready to take a look, I'm ready.
Oh they look so good!
I felt some dripping down.
I was like, "Oh! Okay."
"Definitely feels like blood!"
They look so good.
It's been two months now.
I just got them touched up and I'm totally happy with how they came out.
It was as painful as it looked but it was very brief so I felt like I could push through.
It was definitely worth a little bit of pain for a good payoff.
I have perfect brows everyday.
Thanks so much for watching.

What is VMware NSX ? How to deploy a firewall and a load balancer with NSX. - Duration: 7:31.
Hello! I'm Mehdi Bekkai and this is François Loiseau.
We're going to show you a Private Cloud feature to
help you deploy your security policy and a library of network services: NSX.
I'm connected to the vSphere web client, on my Private Cloud.
The Networking & Security tab, here, is for NSX.
In this section, you see all the network capabilities of NSX:
Firewall, NAT, DHCP, load balancing, SpoofGuard, etc.
For this demo, we'll focus on 2 features, firstly, the firewall,
followed by load balancing.
So I go to the VM & Templates section of my Private Cloud
and you see my VM with a public IP address.
I authorised the Firewall to connect to this IP.
Here, you can see my machine responding on the Internet.
And here, my web server has this public IP
which is responding well, you see the IP displayed, so the web server is working.
Now I'm going to block all incoming traffic to this VM, simply by renaming it.
I'll modify the Firewall of this machine without going into the VM
just renaming it in the inventory.
I'm calling it "web-001" for example
And as you can see, the VM no longer responds.
It's processing. The firewall has blocked incoming flows.
So, in a few clicks, by renaming the machine,
we've activated the firewall and blocked incoming flows.
Easy enough, but not automatic:
You configured a few things first.
I configured one rule by default:
Block everything on the public network.
And a second rule to allow incoming flows from Security Group.
Here, I've configured my Security Group
so that all the VMs whose name
via regular expression, contains the words "web" and "public"
are part of this Security Group, therefore all VMs that are part of this configuration
will let this network flow in.
OK, the firewall is easy. We'll look at a more complex situation.
This time I have 2 machines, connected to the Internet but
receive their traffic via a load balancer.
How do you implement that with NSX?
To show you my infrastructure: I have a private web cluster, 2 machines
One with an IP of .12, the other with an IP of .13
2 machines with a private IP.
I've configured a load balancer on the NSX, to tell it to go directly
to one of the two machines when it receives incoming traffic.
Here, the .12 responds, but there the .13 responds.
On this public IP, you see the machines with private IPs behind receiving the traffic.
I'll show you the configuration I've made in NSX Manager.
Is that still done via the vSphere interface?
Yes, I'm going into the NSX Manager interface, where I can
configure my load balancer.
I've configured it on another Security Group I've named
"web private", which I've done exactly the same with a regular expression.
All the machines with "web" and "private" inside belong to this Security Group.
I've told the load balancer to send the flows on all of these machines.
OK. Now there's a complication: I need to cope with a peak load:
I want to add a machine to my pool, keeping it behind this load balancer.
How do you do it?
Here, I'm deploying a VM very easily.
I name it "web-private-000", so it still belongs to my Security Group
that way, when I deploy it, it will automatically be in the Security Group
of my private webs, and so will be part of my load balancing pool.
I'm deploying it on my Private Cloud, in my cluster
and I'll customise the VM, firstly to ensure that it starts in the right VLAN
and that it captures the right address.
To do this, I've requested startup on DHCP
in this private network where I've activated DHCP.
OK – in brief, DHCP allows you to capture
an address automatically when you create a machine within a pool.
It's in this private network. I'll show you how I've configured DHCP
in Edge Gateway, which is a VM.
Here's the Edges list. There, I have one. A machine deployed by NSX in the infrastructure
which goes on the edge of two VLANs and enables internal transit of network flows.
It may be Internet to a private network, as in the load balancer demo
or it can be between two private VLANs. It's just a case of configuring it.
You see that I have a DHCP server in the Edge Gateway, and
when my VMs enter the private network, the Edge Gateway gives IPs of between 10 and 100.
Here, I go to the VM & Templates tab to view the status of my VMs.
Deployment is complete and it will capture a private IP address in my network.
We'll see that this VM can be reached from the load balancer via this private IP.
Remember: we have .13 and .12, the 2 VMs
- which I had in my infrastructure. - Which work from the outset.
Exactly: I have plug-ins from another VM via the web client.
I could also have used API, coding a script that would enable
deployment of a new VM on the fly
from a given load monitoring threshold.
I'll name it and perform DHCP; the machine enters the pool directly.
Here, we see the machine has taken the IP at 0.18
so logically it should enter my private web pool
It should appear.
Now, when I refresh, we have .12, the first IP. Now we have .13
and when I refresh again
There you go! It works.
So, we have seen in a few clicks, thanks to Security Group…
The Security Group, in short, is a set of security rules
applied to objects created via NSX.
It's not just with the names of VMs, as we've done here with regular expressions
it can be a complete cluster: I block SSH access to any cluster, just by specifying the cluster name
We're at the core of the VMWare infrastructure, everything is done from the Web Client.
We're using a unique shared interface, for total control of the infrastructure.
To sum it up: NSX is an interface controlled directly via vSphere
to manage your security policy
and to deploy a plethora of network solutions
from a preconfigured library, in a few clicks!
Thanks François for your explanations and the demo. Thanks for watching!
You will find all this info at ovh.com/private-cloud
Goodbye!

030 - Adding content to a page - Duration: 4:29.
A frequently used piece of content in a Brightspace site is a generic page, where you can add
your own text, images and more.
You can create your pages here, when you click on Upload/Create, and then you click on "Create
a File".
At this point it is worth mentioning that Create a File might not be the best name choice
for this action.
Rather think of it as "Create a Page".
So let's go ahead and create that File, or Page.
You need to give the page a title and then you have a larger box over here, where you
can enter the content for that page.
This is much like a Microsoft Word document.
You can freely type in whatever you want over here, and the formatting for Bold, Italics,
Underline, Bullet points, Numbered lists, Tables and all of those features are available
for you over here.
You can adjust fonts and font sizes as well.
And the option for cutting and pasting also exists.
Some interesting features we would like to point out.
Firstly, when you paste from a Word Document, or a web browser, or some other piece of text
that has formatting, it might ask you whether you want to keep that formatting, or remove
it.
In general, we recommend that you remove the formatting.
What this does is it removes the variety of fonts that might be copied across, and just
keeps a uniform looking website.
This is especially important for mobile devices.
It will however still retain things such as bulleted lists and font sizing for you.
So this is a great way to import content into your Brightspace site without spending a lot
of time creating it from scratch.
We also want to point out that you can save your work as a Draft at any time, with this
button down here.
If you would like an uncluttered environment click on these 4 outward pointing arrows and
then you get a larger workspace.
Click on these 4 arrows again, to bring the workspace back to its usual size.
There is a built-in spell checker, and for those of you that are more on the power-user
side, you can always edit the raw HTML of this page.
One other useful feature is that you can always preview what the document will look like,
without having to publish it and going to view it as a student all the time.
These buttons down here should save you some time.
There is also the ability to add is some mathematics.
Click on the Sigma icon, and the first and last option here are usually the most useful.
Graphical Equation is much like the equation editor in Microsoft Word.
While the LaTeX equation is for those of you that understand and use LaTeX regularly.
There is the ability to preview your LaTeX equation so that you are sure that it is what
you expect it is.
Once you exit the LaTeX environment you will see your equation represented here in a yellow
area.
But remember you can always preview your document to ensure the math is exactly as you would
like it to be.
You can also insert images by using the second icon: Insert Image.
You can either drag and drop your image file into that region, or click on the Upload button
and choose a file from your computer.
The ability to insert a symbol can also be useful, as well as inserting horizontal lines
to partition your content.
Another useful feature is this Insert Quicklink.
Inserting a quicklink allows you to create a link to other parts of your course within
Brightspace.
For example, you can link to an assignment, you can link to other discussions, or a quiz.
But the most common link would be to another piece of content
in your site.
You will use this generic content area over and over in Brightspace.
For example, when you create an announcement you will have exactly the same editing area
appearing.
Also when enter descriptions you will see a similar editing area.
It is worth spending a few minutes in this environment and experimenting with the various
features that are available to you.
How will you be able to optimally use these at various times in your course?
Finally, when you are done, click on Publish and then you can see your content appear.

The Emma Agenda #3 || F is for Friends - Duration: 1:45.
(street noise)
(sighs)
PHIL: Hi!
Hi
You - you're Emma, right?
Yeah
We have a Creative Writing class together
And you are?
Phil...Phil Alton.
So what's up, Phil?
Uh...not much, you know...
Mr Perry, he's the worst. Am I right? Like, the worst teacher.
Um...
I actually like him a lot, so...
Oh, oh...well I mean, he's like alright.
So, did you just want to complain about teachers?
Oh, no, I...
You know, I...
I'm having a hard time making friends.
Friends?
Well I mean, I thought we could be friends, you seem really cool.
Oh...you do realise I don't have much to go off, here?
Like, you could be a serial killer.
(laugh) Well, I'm not.
Prove it.
What?!
Prove you're not a serial killer.
I...I don't...
I'm just messing with you, Phil.
I think we could be friends.
PHIL: Really?
Yeah. So, what's your major?
Uh, Computer Science.
EMMA: Oh!
My roommate Harriet's a Comp Sci major, too
Oh! Uh...
I think I know her. Uh, Harriet Smith?
Yeah!
PHIL: Yeah, she's pretty cool actually
Yeah...
I'm actually going to meet with her for lunch right now.
Do you wanna come?
Uh...
Yeah, sure!
Cool. I hope you like pizza.
I love pizza.

Beauty And The Beast: a movie review by 8-year-old MissObservation - Duration: 4:05.
So, the film starts with a pretty castle
and they're having a pretty dance that goes like this...
and then there is a line of women and here is how they dance...
And then there's a magic person.
In the middle of the dance there's a magic person
who comes into the castle with a rose
and she gives the rose to the prince and he says
"This rose is not pretty. I do not like it."
And then she's like, "But this rose is filled with beauty."
And he says, "This rose is not filled with beauty."
And then he takes it and throws it on the floor.
And then she sprinkles magic powder on the castle
and then all the people in the castle transform into materials that you use in a castle.
Like, the prince transformed into a beast
and like, some of the materials they transform into are
a light, a clock, a duster, a piano,
a dresser who likes to siiiiiiiiiiing,
and then all the things like that.

The #1 App for Achieving Success | Durand on Demand 042 - Duration: 1:58.
Virtue is the thing conquers all these things.
People don't talk about it in business a lot
because they're worried that they're talking
about something religious. It's not religious.
Any wise religion has adopted the concept
of virtues, but virtues go back to
Socrates, Aristotle and Plato. This is
where they come. The cardinal virtues are
the virtues that make all...cardinal is the
latin word for the word hinge so they're
the virtues that all the other virtues hang on.
The chief of these virtues is prudence.
Prudence is the gateway to justice,
temperance, and fortitude, which if you
master you will ultimately have a high
form of humility and magnanimity and you
will conquer greatness. Do you know how many
people look for techniques to get things done?
They want a new app for that. What's the
app for being on time? It's called virtue.
What's the app for making my calls?
It's called virtue. What's the app for
being creative? It's called virtue.
(Clap) It's the V app. First three steps of
prudence...desire what is good.
If you don't desire what is good you cannot
have what is good. Second, know what is true
and real. Third, pursue what is good.
What is good about sales? I should be making phone calls.
What is true? I am not. What am I
going to pursue? Phone calls. That simple.
About all these things. But if you don't
take those first little things you will
be in a swirling torrent of pain and
misery every single year and you know
you will be? If you're twenty now you'll be a
forty-year-old that had the same
experience twenty times over.
Or if you attack virtue by the time
you're twenty-five you can have more wisdom than
most people before the time they die.

Tesla's Amazing UFO That You Never Knew About - Duration: 3:49.
Teslas Amazing UFO That You Never Knew About
Nikola Tesla is considered one of the most innovative and mysterious men who ever lived.
If Tesla hadnt invented and researched everything he did in his time, our technology
today would be considerably worse.
But is there something more to Tesla?
Did he in fact have contact with Aliens as he publicly proclaimed?
He is one of the most amazing inventors our civilization has ever known his knowledge
and ideas went far and beyond what was known and accepted in his lifetime.
Tesla was a Genius, and his inventions and ideas had no boundaries.
Over a hundred years ago, during the first decade of the twentieth century, Tesla filed
a request to patent a peculiar aircraft, which he called the worlds first flying saucer.
The methods used in the design of the flying saucer matched the descriptions of those who
claimed to have seen a from the UFO inside: with a discoidal capacitor with sufficient
size to provide enough thrust to fly, while other small capacitors allowed to control
the direction of the flying saucer, to which he added a gyroscopic stabilization system
and a electric drive control.
Basically it is a incredibly well designed aircraft, one that we could actually manage
to build today.
Or have we already built it?
What happened to this invention?
Why are we not flying into space with Teslas incredible invention?
While the patent was granted, the UFO or rather called IFO as it had been identified by the
insatiable imagination of Tesla, had a drawback: since the aircraft did not include an energy
source of its own, it needed to be energized by the towers of wireless transmission, Teslas
sources of free energy.
The lack of funding led to the abandonment of the development of the towers, so, eventually
the ship also fell into darkness, and Teslas UFO or rather IFO was never made.
But hold on Never?
Actually dont be so sure because the US Secret Service seized all patents belonging
to Tesla after his death for reasons of national security.
Now if Teslas ideas were insane as some had categorized them, why would the United States
secret Service seize the patents for reasons of National Security?
Hmmm lets think about it for a minute.
The ideas of ??the great Nikola Tesla are incredible and better yet, way ahead of its
time, many of his inventions, aimed at contributing towards world peace through free energy access,
but governments and financiers of the time, did not follow the progress of Teslas mind.
Years later, his groundbreaking models and technological projects were used by the Nazis
(not the way he had imagined it), and now numerous of his projects are held by the secret
service, far away from the eyes
of
the public.
