Waching daily Mar 27 2017

[LOU] How much have they actually gone up? [JARED] Well, an easy way to look at it is,

back when they started keeping records in the late 1970s,

since then tuition costs have shot up about 1250%, that's 1-2-5-0 percent.

During that same time, food costs have went up about 250%.

So we've seen practically 5 times as fast of an increase in tuition as we've seen in the cost of food.

So tuition's been skyrocketing,

and it's really no coincidence that the more money we're throwing at the problem, from taxpayers,

the more tuition continues to go up.

[music]

[LOU] Are there any things that you've noticed on campus, like, 'oh! that's where my tuition is!'

[CHRIS] Uh, we got a new conference center.

[LOU] Oh yeah? [CHRIS] I don't really know where the money goes.

[JARED] Sun tanning pools, rock-climbing walls, lazy rivers...

[LOU] Wait, sun tanning pools?

[JARED] Oh yes! Southern Methodist University has a great one, I was just down there. Beautiful.

[LOU] Are you sure that's not like a baptismal pool?

[JARED] Yes! I'm positive, it's a nice pool, you can lay out, get some sun.

[LOU] Oh, wait, when you said a sun tanning pool, I thought it was like, you dip into the water,

and then you come out and you're physically darker.

[JARED] I'm sure that's on some college as well, because the idea is when they have unlimited....

[LOU] Gotta work on that guys, that's a really good moneymaker.

[music]

[LUIS] Should I raise my hand for a question?

[JARED] Yes, we're in a college class.

[LUIS] So let's say that this college is like, 'okay, these students want this, and it'll bring in more students,'

then would they write that off as like...

[JARED] A lot of students want these fancy amenities, and they don't view it as they're actually paying for it.

Because you just pick your college that you want to go to, and you don't worry about it right now.

Students don't realize that you're accruing interest on your loans from the day you take them out.

It's not when you graduate. You just don't have to pay them back 'til after you graduate.

A lot of people just simply don't realize what their monthly payments are going to be

once they're out of school, and when they do graduate losing, let's say,

$800 a month to their student loans is something they were not planning on doing.

[LOU] Did you guys know about any of this?

Diet plan for keratoconus - Duration: 3:35.

Hi !!! you are watching…

Keratoconushub TV

In this video, I will tell you, what is the importance of Diet in keratoconus.

According to researches, it has been shown that it is possible to slow-down the worsening

of keratoconus to some extent by making some changes in our diet.

Keratoconus is a degenerative corneal disease caused by corneal thinning by the action of

free radicals.

Since the patients suffering from keratoconus lack the self- defence system to fight with

these harmful free radicals, that are generated during the metabolism process.

These free radicals cause harm to our body cells.

Antioxidants have the power to protect the cells from the free radicals.

So by adopting a diet plan which incorporates plenty of antioxidants; the damage due to

free radicals can be controlled.

These antioxidant substances are- vitamin-A, vitamin-C, vitamin-E,

lutein, selenium, lycopene and beta-carotene.

These antioxidants are obtained from various foods like vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts,

fish, meat etc.

To enhance the level of antioxidants in your body, you can include the following in your diet-

Papaya, apple, banana, orange, carrots, spinach, almonds, sunflower seeds and eggs etc.

But the progression of keratoconus which is caused only by free radicals, can be slowed

down by diet rich in antioxidants.

The keratoconus due to other causes like genetics, excessive eye rubbing and hormones; cannot

be treated by diet.

Although food can play its role in slowing down the progression of keratoconus but one

must not depend only on diet treatment.

It is essential to visit your eye doctor time-to-time to accurately observe the progression

if any.

On finding any progression, one must take preventive treatment like corneal collagen

crosslinking which is also known as C3R or CXL; as soon as possible; to halt its progression

further.

Mt Erebus: Search and Rescue Exercise in Antarctica - Duration: 4:07.

Whale of a Time

EREBUS

When most people think of antarctica they think big white and flat however there are mountains introducing Mount Erebus

Today we would be training at over 11,000 feet on the side of Mount Erebus,

the second highest volcano in Antarctica

and the southern-most active volcano on Earth.

We are members of the Joint Antarctic Search and Rescue Team

if there is an accident in antarctica, we're the ones they call

Oh yeah, extreme!

Not far from where we landed, the wreckage of an old helicopter

was a reminder of why our training is so important

Before setting off on our exercise we checked out the fumaroles

these are gas vents from the volcano that form spectacular ice formations

We use the stretcher loaded with equipment to simulate the weight of a person

and we set off across the shoulder of Erebus

Once we got to the steeper part of the mountain it was time to use ropes

We would anchor them to the ground using snow stakes

Using a double rope system. We will be able to safely lower the stretcher down the mountain

My job will be the stretcher attendant

So I think it's all you buddy!

Cool

It's gonna be... it's kinda low angle

Yeah, I'm gonna have to drag it a bit

Down!

down down

down down

while the stretcher is being lowered down the slope

the other half of the team is below me building the next anchors

The cloud is also building

What's going on?

What took you so long?

Hey, I was going as fast as I can but they tied a rope to me!

Matt, do you have a copy?

We're down to 10 feet up here

Are you at the anchor?

Yeah, I'm at the anchor stop there

All stop!

We would repeat this process of passing the stretcher from one belay to another until we were down on lower angled Terrain

Stop!

stopping

We're at the end of the rope

From here we'll actually just un-clip it and take her down

Most of the serious disasters that have occurred in Antarctica have been aircraft accidents

including the infamous Erebus disaster in 1979

when 257 People lost their lives on this very mountain

Our training ensures that we will be ready to respond safely and effectively

the next time things go wrong down on the ice

REMARKABLE NASA FOOTAGE SHOWS A STRANGE MEETING IN EARTH'S ORBIT - Duration: 3:31.

REMARKABLE NASA FOOTAGE SHOWS A STRANGE MEETING IN EARTHS ORBIT

A couple of days ago, the ISS camera unwillingly gave out a strange meeting between two bizarre

objects that took place above our heads.

The video was uploaded to YouTube by keen-eyed watcher Streetcap1 and it immediately attracted

the attention of UFO enthusiasts.

The 7 minute video shows two golden, metallic objects slowly approaching each other but

the footage cuts off before the conclusion we were all expecting.

The incident took place in front of the International Space Station and its intriguing how this

time the feed wasnt abruptly cut.

During the first 4 minutes of the video, the two objects exhibit a strange transparency

and this has given skeptics reason to believe the apparitions are nothing but image artifacts

caused by lens flare.

But starting from the 4 minute mark, the shape of both objects starts becoming more apparent.

They also appear to make subtle adjustments to their direction and speed, all while lighting

up and slowly altering their shape.

Judging by the reactions of YouTube commenters, this incident left the strong impression of

an orbital meeting that should have remained secret.

There seems to be a changing three-dimensional appearance around both objects as light moves

around them between 4 and 5 minutes.

Both objects appear to have spheres attached.

When I review this footage over and over, I feel that the right side image could be

the Hubble satellite. The one on the left I ponder about and think is this the Black Knight?

This object definitely shows some similar symmetry.

This strange video allows us to draw some interesting conclusions.

First of all, the two objects speed matches that of the International Space Station.

Since they remained in view for at least the duration of the video, we can assume the occupants

of the ISS were well-aware of the presence of the two, presumably alien objects.

Second, when in orbit around Earth or any other planet/satellite, two spacecraft that

have matching speeds usually attempt to dock with each other.

This gives us reason to suspect that one or both objects met with the ISS, before or after

the footage was taken.

This wouldnt be the first time such a contact took place.

Last year, former NASA engineer Mark McClelland claimed to have witnessed a meeting between

astronauts and a 9 foot tall alien being in the cargo bay of a space shuttle.

A similar scenario could have just unfolded aboard

the ISS.

China's Economy is five times India's GDP, it spends 6-8 times more on Defence - Duration: 3:13.

Chinas Economy is five times Indias GDP, it spends 6-8 times more on Defence

Dealing with China on security and economic issues is crucial for India but even if we

are no pushover, we cannot get provocative, asserted G Parthasarathy, Visiting Professor

at the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi.

China is surrounding India with huge economic investments to strengthen its presence.

Sri Lanka is in a debt trap after China funded mega infrastructure investments.

Sri Lanka has handed over Hambantota port in a debt-equity swap, which now poses a huge

threat to India; in Pakistan, Nepal and Africa too China is investing in large infrastructure

projects.

Pakistan could well go the way of Sri Lanka following the $50 billion China-Pakistan Economic

Corridor which runs partly through a stretch that India claims as its own.

Even Pakistans nuclear programme is essentially that of Chinas, he said here on Saturday

at an interaction organised by the Chennai International Centre.

Chinas economy is five times Indias GDP, it spends 6-8 times more on defence.

We should understand the challenge of China but it is not wise to confront any neighbour.

For the next two decades we should focus on economic development, he felt.

Do what you have to do on security but avoid jingoism.

Display strength without showing off, he said.

India too has its strengths on the international stage such as in ASEAN, links to Japan including

the trilateral India-Japan-US relations.

On the western frontier it is perhaps the only country with good relations with all

major players in the region including Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Egypt.

It has amicably settled maritime boundary issues with its neighbours.

But Chinas claims on its boundaries are untenable under the international laws.

China recognises the need for economic interaction and understands it needs manufacturing facilities

here.

But our decision making processes need to be speeded up.

We could lose a lot on the economic front because the Chinese move fast, he said.

Sri Lanka relations ::

India has supported the northern and eastern parts of Sri Lanka with an unprecedented $15

billion aid.

It has provided Sri Lanka Tamils over 50,000 houses, 500 tractors, 10,000 bicycles, 90,000

farmer kits, 200 fishing boats and supported SSI units, established rail links and renovated

airports.

Indian media has to visit Jaffna to realise what India has done for Sri Lanka.

Unfortunately, Sri Lankan Tamil fishermen have a tale of woe caused by fishermen in

Tamil Nadu.

They lament that large trawlers from here disrupt their fishing grounds.

It is unforgivable that the Sri Lankan Navy killed a fisherman from here, he acknowledged.

Indian coastal states have a huge access to Bay of Bengal, these States should develop

their own deep sea fishing industry which the Centre is willing to support.

What can be achieved by daily confrontation? he asked.

The public has to be enlightened on this issue by the media, he felt.

John Gizzi: Trump Isn't Scripted - Duration: 2:44.

Let's get back to the president's news conference last Friday, where I was. Number

one: In voting for Donald Trump, the American public got

something very unique in politics – someone who is not scripted,

someone who is not wired, packed, rigged and stacked. What

you see is what you get. And the fact is,

he says what is on his mind – no press secretary, no

speechwriter, no communications director, is

going to change that. And frankly, being essentially a street kid from New

York, Donald Trump is going to hit back when someone hits him.

Twitter provides a very accurate weapon. I have made the case that he is

to Twitter what Franklin Roosevelt was to radio in the 1930s when it was a

new medium, and he is a master of it so far. As for

his news conference, he did not have a list of reporters to

call on, as President Obama did and made no secret about, he would pick

on people he knew, Major Garrett, Jim Costa from

CNN and others. And then he would pick out strangers, completely,

whether they were friendly or hostile. And it was great theater to watch. I would

compare him to Nicolas Sarkozy, the former French president, who would have two and a half hour

press conferences and single out reporters by name and tell them where they got

it wrong in a story like that. Justin Coffey, who is an historian and has

written a much praised book about Vice President Spiro Agnew, whom I knew,

said that Trump's news conference last week was

almost a remake of Agnew's speech in December

1969 excoriating the national news media

and the major metropolitan newspapers with editorial views

on the left. The nattering nabobs of negativism, he called them. And

I entitled my column after the press conference, "Trump's New Style: 'Beat

the Press,'" and it plays very well with his base and

other Americans who think the media is biased. With those who don't like him anyway it doesn't

play well. He divides the country in half and he has his backers there.

I suspect as he gets more into the realm of public policy and the economy is

affected, we will see whether or not he can expand that particular

base.

Before Religion This Is How People Connected With Their Spirituality - Duration: 3:14.

Before Religion This Is How People Connected With Their Spirituality

By consciousreminder

The shaman is not merely a sick man, or a madman; he is a sick man who has healed

himself. Terence McKenna

Terence Kemp McKenna (November 16, 1946 April 3, 2000) was an American ethnobotanist, mystic,

psychonaut, lecturer, and author who spoke and wrote about a variety of subjects, including

psychedelic drugs, plant-based entheogens, shamanism, metaphysics, alchemy, language,

philosophy, culture, technology, and the theoretical origins of human consciousness.

He was called the Timothy Leary of the 90s, one of the leading authorities

on the ontological foundations of shamanism, and the intellectual voice of rave culture.

Shamanism is a spiritual practice found in cultures around the world from ancient times

up to the present day.

First and foremost, shamans practices are practical and adaptable.

These practices coexist over millennia with varying cultures, systems of government, and

organized religious practices.

Many formalized religions, from Buddhism to Christianity, came from ancient shamanic roots

and still bear the shamanic threads of deep connection to the divine in all things.

But shamanism itself is not a formalized system of beliefs or an ideology.

Rather, it is a group of activities and experiences shared by shamans in cultures around the world.

These practices are adaptable and coexist with different cultures, systems of government,

and organized religious practices.

In this gem of a video Terence Mckenna spends 15 minutes talking about The Spirit Of

Shamanism.

Because it is not an organized religion as such, but rather a spiritual practice,

shamanism cuts across all faiths and creeds, reaching deep levels of ancestral memory.

As a primal belief system, which precedes established religion, it has its own symbolism

and cosmology, inhabited by beings, gods, and totems, who display similar characteristics

although they appear in various forms, depending upon their places of origin. ~John Matthews,

The Celtic Shaman

Jeff Aramini | Saving the World One User Experience at a Time | AQ's Blog & Grill - Duration: 17:43.

Hey everybody and welcome to AQ's Blog & Grill.

We're happy today to have Jeff Aramini with us.

Jeff is the founder and CEO of Focus21.

Now this is a firm that

is really focused around, if you will,

creating online experiences with purpose.

And we're going to chat to Jeff about

that because they're doing some pretty

exciting things these days.

Welcome Jeff. Pleasure thank you.

Now Jeff I gotta start off with this because

it's such an interesting background.

You have a PhD in epidemiology. Public health engineers.

See I was going to say that

but I'm glad I didn't. So say that just one

more time for us Jeff. Public health

epidemiology. Of course. You also are a

doctor of veterinary medicine.

Yes. And you're working on your MBA. Yes.

Is there something about learning that

excites you?

Yes, I very much enjoy learning, I probably

also have attention deficit disorder

which fits with my path. But yeah, no,

I started off as a veterinarian and worked

in a mixed animal practice for five,

six, seven years, enjoyed it but wanted to

make a difference more than treating

pets and families.

Okay. So it's, and actually in Canada

the shift or the progression from

veterinary medicine to public health

it's been set. So actually a

lot of veterinarians get into public health.

And it's probably because

veterinarians deal with herds and

populations and that's all that public

health does too, right? So it's all about preventing disease.

Right. And the natural path is to

go through epidemiology which is the

study of populations and diseases.

So outbreaks and surveillance and all that kind of stuff.

Yeah so some of the

science of course is transferable -

yep - from one profession, one study

to the next.

Yes. So that's very interesting. And you said

you wanted to make a difference. Right.

How? What kind of difference

are you looking at? Essentially

improving people's lives, right, whether

that's around health or social demographic

factors and you know I think looking

back I didn't realize that I probably

was making a difference treating

pets and their families but wanted to

make a difference at a sort of larger

level - okay - and epidemiology or public health

allows you to do that, right?

So discovering a risk factor, solving an

outbreak has the impact to touch on many

families not just one or two.

Absolutely. So I took, I did my Masters

and PhD and then worked with the Public

Health Agency of Canada for about eight

or nine years and that's where I was

introduced to informatics. Much of

epidemiology is around data, analyzing

data, turning data into information and

intelligence, and so I was introduced

for informatics and got really jazzed

about all that stuff right and then

I decided after eight or nine years that

I was entrepreneurial in nature. So I

enjoyed creating things, building things

and it's hard to do that within

government in some places. So I've heard.

Yeah. So it was either decide to live in

my cubicle for the next 35 years and

somehow survive or to get out. So I

decided to leave, started up a health

informatics firm and then ultimately a few

years ago it turned into Focus21 and

now I work with my partner Ilya Peskov

and, yeah, we're having a lot of fun

doing innovative things and making a difference.

Well there you go. Now you and Ilya and

Focus21 are located at Communitech - yes -

here in the Waterloo Region so why

are so many startups coming out of this

area and maybe even

particularly Communitech. Have you noticed

anything that's common? If I were to boil

it down I think it's about energy.

Yeah. Right? And I don't know exactly what

that is but it's this positive energy

about getting things done, wanting to

make a difference, supporting each other.

There's still a lot of us, i.e.

Kitchener-Waterloo

versus them whoever them is whether it's

Toronto or Silicon Valley and that in

itself I think pulls people together and

to, you know, focus on support.

So yeah it is this support network at least

that I found that it comes in very handy

when you as an entrepreneur go into that

Death Valley of uh-oh, we no longer have any money

- right - the sales are on the near horizon and

what are we going to do?

Right, right. And sometimes at least I

know what I found is that people get

together and say, Okay you know you can

do this. I did this," and maybe not help by

just pouring money into your

bank account but at least give you

that moral support - yes - and encouragement.

And you know and then this past couple of

months ago, sort of continuing along the

path of education, both Ilya and I felt

well one of us should get some business

training. And I think one of the most

important things I've learned over the past

several years was there's a difference

between innovation and entrepreneurship.

Right. You can be innovative in

government, outside of government, but if

your goal is to translate innovation

into revenue, right, and

having the ability to even do more

things because ultimately you need money to

do things, then you have to learn how to

translate that. And like we've had

lots of innovative ideas but then it

boiled down to

while there's no revenue model.

Right. Right? If you can't get

somebody to pay for it eventually then

it's, yeah, you have to do something else.

It's a no-go.

So you know so I'm taking my MBA at

Laurier and it's been really

fascinating to look at things

through the lenses of previous experiences.

Yeah and I really enjoy getting emails

from you at three o'clock in the morning

because you're working on an assignment

and you just want

"Hey what's your thought on...?"

Well it's because, like I think a lot of

these things you kind of intuitively

know and it's nice now to see it in a

framework of well actually people have

spent lifetimes thinking about these

things, right?

So business strategy and

managerial strategies and yeah, like

even, although we're still relatively small,

we're growing. So a lot of these

things come into play but at the same

time many of our clients are big companies.

Yes. So understanding, so seeing how what

they think about, right, so insourcing vs

outsourcing and core competencies,

all that kind of stuff, for us to bring

value we kind of have to

understand how they think about it. Right.

And so it's been, I think it's going to

be really helpful in that respect as well.

Excellent. Now Focus21 has grown

quite a bit in the past six to 12 months

so what kind of things are you doing

that fuels that growth? We, going back a

little bit, after we realized, like after

we had a few startup ideas that kind of

didn't go anywhere, Ilya and I began

to appreciate that we were really good

at working through complex workflows,

complex problems on the software side.

So it's not just about making a simple

website. It's around, you know,

working through user interfaces to

guide the user through some sort of

complex task. Right. To make it simple,

intuitive and then that equates also to

being more productive. Right. Right?

So that's where we sort of focus our

work and because I have a data

science background we also sort of tend

to lean towards projects that have a

data component because we can bring

value there. Right. So we

worked in several areas.

In one company in Toronto, the World Council

for City Data - yes - they're a company that

spun out of the University of Toronto and they

help cities to to benchmark themselves

across a hundred different indicators.

So we helped them build an auditing portal

and data exploration portal.

That was really fun

and I think it's now being

used, I think it's over 120 cities,

it's on display in the Siemens

Building in London, UK. Yes and that

work climaxed, didn't it

in London at a global conference?

Yeah, there was

representatives from 20 global cities.

They all got together. There's,

there's this whole sort of movement

towards the ability to benchmark on

standard parameters. Otherwise there's sort of

no way of comparing - right - whether

that's around pollution, employment,

crime rates, etc. So this group,

the World Council on City Data,

spent the last many years making an

iso-standard which then we helped build a

platform around. Right. So that was one of

our main projects and our

other big area that we work in remains

in the sort of Public Health area -

right - and we're working with a

company down in Arizona call STC,

Scientific Technologies Corporation, and

they're North America leading

company for providing public health

solutions to states and provinces

and now the consumer. Yeah and that's

an amazing thing too, isn't it, because

it's not just about the state it's not

just about the medical associations but

they're reaching out to the consumer,

to us, to say, "Are your medical records, are

your immunization records, is your

vaccine history somewhere?" Right

And I think that's going to be - yeah and

it probably is the next big step, right?

So it's about empowering individuals

to promote their own health. And so it's

not just about doctors telling us what

to do or the government telling us

what to do.

Probably the most gain to be made in

health is around behavioral change, right?

And making sure you're vaccinated is one,

eating properly is another and a lot of

it relates to be here to behavioral change.

Right. And people need the information at

their fingertips.

It's no different than well you don't

know what to wear outside unless you

know what the weather's going to be. Right.

It's the same thing. Like we need

information to better manage our own health.

Yeah. So one of the things that

fascinates me about Focus21

is this application you're developing.

It's called Watr. Yes.

Are we able to talk about that at this time?

Yeah, sure. So we were approached

by the city of Guelph a couple of years ago

around, the basic question was can we

leverage people's water consumption data

to motivate them to save water? And they

had struggled for several years

trying to figure it out and

we got involved and after some

initial assessments realized yeah we

could bring a lot of value, we can

help them. So we've been working

away on a platform that allows

individuals to access their water

consumption data and through various

tools like social norms and gamification

essentially incentivize people. The most

basic part of it is allowing

households to compare how much water

they use compared to their neighbor.

And it kind of starts there because if

if you don't know what's normal then how

do you know whether your bill is right?

Right. Right and so now, you'll

soon be able to go onto

the app and it's called Watr, without

the E - right - and to see yeah, we're using

more or less than we should be. And then

that's the sort of first step. You know

clearly that's the first step to if

we're not then why?

And then why leads to answers. There we go.

I think that's such an exciting project and

I'm looking forward to seeing it succeed

across North America, if not the world.

So Focus21:

what is it about you guys that makes you unique?

Why would someone buy from Focus21 to

help them build their online presence or

their online brand or their online experience?

What is it that Focus21

brings to the table that is unusual?

I think there's a few things. One is

culture. We've done, we've worked

very, very hard to have a high-energy,

positive culture and you know that

almost always translates into doing a

good job, overdelivering - right - and so

that's kind of one thing. Another

theme that we realized at the start

was software or really anything, it is

about the experience. The product is the

user experience. Right. Right?

The technology behind it no, actually I think

people don't understand it nor do they care.

Right. Right? So we put a lot of focus

in as to, and it is not just

about what the product looks like but

it's, you know, how it drives a

person through the app or through

the website. So we put a lot of

focus on the user experience and

our team thus is fully integrated. So we

have designers, developers,

data scientists all working together with a

focus to address the need. Right.

So that, you know, that's

another one. And we have an

internal mantra, right? A mantra? We get good shit done.

Sorry, I didn't hear - what was that again?

We get good shit done.

Wow. And it is

a lens at how we look at things. Okay.

Right? We work hard.

We celebrate. We own up to our mistakes.

We're all about transparency and it's

how we set up every project so the

client, like there are no surprises.

There's no surprises about budgets,

there's no surprise about what

they get at the end. It's because we

all hear about IT projects that go down

the toilet. Right.

We do what we say and we say what we do.

Excellent. Now I've met with one of

Focus21's clients and the CEO of that

company was very effusive in his

regard for Focus21 and was very

complimentary. And he did say that you

guys deliver what you say you're going

to deliver on time, on budget and no BS.

How's that sound. Is that kind of what

you do? That's pretty much us.

So what's next then for Focus21? Where

are you guys going to go? We're growing,

we're putting a lot of effort onto

marketing and branding now and again

it's part of the sort of evolution of

understanding business. You can have

the most amazing group on the planet but

if nobody knows about them

you're not going to make it, right?

So it's now sort of pulling in other parts

of the business so we can grow, we can

scale and yeah we have lots of

innovative ideas about other products,

other things we want to kind of

work on, but it starts with, you know,

meeting the needs of our clients and

delivering and then with that anything's possible.

Anything is possible. And you know that

as a scientist. Yes, yes I do.

Thank you. Thank you. Thanks for tuning in

How to Make Arroz con Leche | Rice Pudding | Made To Order | Chef Zee Cooks - Duration: 5:45.

Hey everyone, and welcome back to my channel Made to Order - A La Orden

I'm Chef Zee and today we're making an awesome and delicious traditional dessert

We're making Arroz con Leche which is also known as Rice Pudding

Now Easter is quickly approaching and this is a dessert that is in heavy rotation during this time of year

And I really do hope that you guys enjoy

Now with any other traditional recipe that you guys see on my channel,

You guys already know that there are a ton of different ways of making it

And today I'm simply showing it to you my way

And the way that my grandmother taught me

And I have all of the ingredients listed for you right here

We're going to start off my adding some water into a large pot

And then adding some cinnamon sticks

I love Arroz con Leche that is super cinnamony so I tend to add a little extra cinnamon sticks

But feel free to add however many cinnamon sticks you like

Then we're going to let that water come to a boil

And we're going to add the rice

Now before you add your rice, be sure to wash it a few times. I washed my rice about 2-3 times

And after you add the rice, be sure to give it a good stir

I'm going to tell you guys right now, arroz con leche is somewhat of a tricky dish to make

because you have to stir it constantly

and you have to stir it constantly because you want to be sure that the rice never sticks to the bottom of the pot

You want to be sure that the rice doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot during this stage

and in later stages when we're actually sweetening it

So once that water comes to a boil, give it another good stir

and what we're doing here is that we're essentially softening our rice

Now unlike regular white rice where we do want a little bit of con-con

which is that crunchy goodness at the bottom of the pot

That's exactly what we want to avoid whenever we're making a rice pudding

So stir it constantly and what we're looking for here is for our rice to reach a desired softness

Because the worst thing you can do aside from the rice sticking to the bottom

is having hard crunchy rice in your rice pudding

It just doesn't taste good and it feels kind of awkward and weird whenever you're eating it

So once the rice is nice and done

We're then going to add the milk

Now I only use evaporated milk but you can use a variety of different milks and you can even mix milks

Then we're going to add some cloves

and the cloves compliment the cinnamon really well.

And then we're going to add some vanilla extract

I typically use Dominican vanilla but today I'm using regular vanilla

And we're also going to add a lime wedge and a little bit of salt

Now that little bit of salt is going to bring together all of these flavors

and it's going to balance everything out, especially the sugar

So we're going to give that a good mix

and then we're going to let that come to a simmer

And be sure that you're cooking your rice pudding on a low to medium flame

And just to be safe, I typically cook this on a low flame

So once that comes to a simmer, we're then going to add the sugar

Now guys, I'll be honest. I don't have a sweet tooth

So my rice pudding is not bland but it's also not really sweet

but again you can sweeten this to however you see fit

Once you add the sugar, you want to give that a good mix

And if ever there's a time that you want to make sure that the rice doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot

It's right now

Because sugar does tend to caramelize whenever you're heating it up

And once you add the sugar and you mix that all in

Now you just want to thicken your rice pudding to your taste

So there are some people who like their rice pudding on the runny side

and there are other people who like it on the thick side

I'm one of those people who likes it on the thick side

So what I'm doing here is checking to make sure that it's the kind of thickness that I like

And once it gets as thick as I like, I then add the butter

And this step is optional

But I like to add the butter because it gives it a nice velvety texture at the very end

Now as I mentioned earlier,

I love Arroz con Leche that's super cinnamony

So at the very end, I do sprinkle a little extra cinnamon

Just to boost up that cinnamon flavor

And I give that one final mix

Now there are two different ways to eating arroz con leche

You can either have it cold or you can have it warm

and it's always a huge fun debate

I'm personally one of those people who likes it warm

Let me know in the comment section how you like your arroz con leche

I hope you guys enjoyed my recipe to making an Arroz con Leche which is also a Rice Pudding

and this is a dessert that I have every single year around Easter

Because it seriously reminds me of my grandmother

Now remember, with this dish and pretty much any dish that you see on my channel

You can always tweak it to your liking

and I really want you guys to know that

because a lot of these dishes that I make are traditional dishes

and there's a ton of different ways to making them

Jesus Christ is here - Duration: 4:44.

Jesus Christ is alive, He is here and those who know Him hear His voice, they experience

Him every day, they follow Him.

His sheep hear His voice and they follow Him.

Jesus Christ reveals Himself to those who believe in Him and who obey Him.

I read the words of Jesus in John 14:18"I will not leave you as orphans; I will come

to you.

19"After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because

I live, you will live also.

20"In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

21"He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves

Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him."

22Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, what then has happened that You are going

to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?" 23Jesus answered and said to him,

"If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come

to him and make Our abode with him."

If we believe in Jesus and we obey His words, the gospel of Jesus Christ as also recorded

in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, then Jesus will come and dwell with us.

He will reveal Himself to us and we will experience Him every day.

The world will not see Him, because they do not know Him.

Those who do not know, see, hear and experience Jesus Christ, do not know Him; they are not

of Him, they are of the world.

But Jesus discloses Himself to those who believe in Him and who obey His words.

Most professing Christians do not believe what Jesus said.

Jesus said, I read from Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three have gathered together

in My name, I am there in their midst."

Do we believe that?

Do you experience Jesus in your midst when you come together to pray?

Do you experience Jesus as real?

Is He revealed to you?

Jesus said to His disciples; I read Matthew 28:18 "And Jesus came up and spoke to them,

saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

19"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of

the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I commanded

you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

If you obey Jesus, Her comes and dwells with you and He STAYS with you ALWAYS.

You experience Him all the time, because Jesus Christ is HERE.

He is not far away.

Do you know Jesus?

Do you experience Him?

Do you know that Jesus is here?

Does Jesus live in you?

Do you follow and obey Him every day?

Are you a child of God?

Do you KNOW Jesus Christ, or are you of the world, because the world does not see Him,

neither hear Him, neither experience Him?

Do you experience that Jesus Christ is HERE?

May Jesus bless you.

Jesus Christ is alive and hell is real.

I am here to introduce you to Jesus Christ so that you can know Him, and follow Him and

have eternal life.

May Jesus bless you.
