Waching daily Jan 28 2018

On April 18, 1955 the father of relativity, Albert Einstein, died of a burst Aorta and

was taken to a mortuary in Princeton, New Jersey.

Einstein's wish was to be cremated but the pathologist on duty thought it a shame to

destroy such a celebrated brain.

So, without permission, he picked up a saw and cut Einstein's cranium and extracted

his brain… oh and he also grabbed his eyeballs.

Dr Harvey then plopped everything into a couple of jars.

And promptly alerted the New York Times.

The family was furious, but Harvey eventually convinced them his actions were all in the

the name of science!

The jar of eyes was given to Einstein's eye doctor Henry Abrams who placed them in

a safe deposit box which is rumoured to be somewhere in New York City.

The brain however, went on a far wider journey.

after cutting the brain into 240 blocks he was able to make a thousand slides out of

different portions of Albert Einstein's brain.

He boxed up those slides and sent them to researchers around the world.

Although Harvey stole the brain in the name of science, promising to publish important

research,  in the four decades that followed he never did...But the slides that Harvey

sent to qualified brain researchers around the world did reveal some interesting things

about Einstein's brain.

Even though Einstein's IQ was way higher than most, the size of his brain was actually

smaller than the average male.

More significantly though, Einstein's inferior parietal region was about 15 percent larger

than average. It's thought to be the part of the brain that helps with language and

mathematics.

Another anatomical difference is that he was lacking a crevice in the skull area in the

brain called the Sylvian fissure.

Also his brain did not show any significant signs of aging.

which it appears in the brain with age.

It was lacking a substance called lipofuscin, which is an autofluorescent brown-yellow pigment

that's not very well understood.

What we do know is that it accumulates in the human body with age, and yet at 76 years

old, Einstein's brain was almost completely void of it.

But none of these facts could be considered a huge breakthrough in understanding Einstein's

genius.

So eventually the hub bub died down and for the most part, the famous brain was forgotten.

The remainder of Einstein's brain that was not dissected into slides was put into a cider

box under a beer cooler in Dr. Harvey's home.

After spending decades in a beer cooler, Dr Harvey donated the brain to Princeton Hospital.

As for the 1000 slides?

What happened to them.

There were five boxes of slides created of Einstein's brain.

We know that one set of slides is at the National Museum of Health and Medicine.

At the Mutter Museum we have 46 ….the rest of the slides are MIA.

There's no doubt that what Harvey did wasn't exactly ethical and probably not in the name

of science BUT hopefully with modern technology and our developing knowledge of the human

brain, secrets about Einstein's brain may finally be revealed and it's long journey

from an Ivy League hospital to a beer cooler won't be for nothing.

Thanks for watching Focal Point, if you were still wondering about Einstein's eyeballs,

in the 90s, there was a rumor that Michael Jackson wanted to buy them for $5 million,

but Dr Henry Abrams quickly denied they were for sale.

As far as we can tell they are still in a safety deposit box somewhere.

Like Ed Roberts, Judy Heumann had Polio. The public school, she attended, would not

allow her to attend classes, because she was deemed a fire hazard. But Judy's

mother was a strong advocate, so Judy was allowed to attend the Fourth Grade.

She attended college and organized protest rallies, with other disabled students.

The New York City Board of Education refused to grant her a teaching

certificate, because they argued that she was incapable of getting herself and

students out of the school building in the event of fire.

Judy took the school board to court, and the judge demanded that the school board

rethink its decision. [PAUSE for READING]

Texas District Replaces School Board and Plans for State Accountability - Duration: 3:52.

About a year ago, we experienced a lot of stress, as a district.

Really trying to bring together a lot of conflicting interests.

And going into the school year I didn't really

know what to expect except that I was optimistic.

The district was somewhat fragile and complicated.

Frankly, for an entire school year,

we did not hire a superintendent or high school principals.

So the commissioner of education felt that the governance issue

needed to be addressed so we could

move the district forward.

We had five goals--

stewardship, absenteeism, graduation rate,

college readiness, and early literacy.

Those were five areas that needed improvement.

The decision was basically to remove the existing

board of trustees and to place a board of managers

here in Edgewood ISD.

Since the board of managers and myself were sworn in,

we have a new vision.

We have a new mission for Edgewood.

And now with a new strategic plan,

we feel like we have a roadmap for success.

I came here thinking, OK, well I'm

going to be a part of one action on one topic.

But this is different.

This is going in front of the board and that, to me,

is the level where you are saying this is business.

I think it's great that we have a variety of stakeholders here.

We all want the same thing.

We all want student success at Edgewood.

The question is, how do we get there?

Our graduation rate is still not at 100%.

Our strand is improving literacy.

It's not just beginning of the year training, it's ongoing.

I think what we've really focused

on is creating a plan over the next three to five years

where we're going to bring together

everyone in the district to make sure everyone's

on the same page.

And you can go from one campus to the next

and really see a system of best practices employed

throughout the district consistently.

The thing that I think is really, really strong here

in Edgewood are it's people.

I love that they just included everybody.

It'll make this a better buy-in for the community.

We have a new mission.

We have a new vision.

We have new goals.

We have new strategies.

We heard some really touching stories,

both from the students, and we heard

the parents who care nothing more than about their child's

education.

I may go drop off my daughter or pick her up from school,

and you really don't know what's going on behind the scenes

at school.

But sitting in these meetings they really

expect and want to help each and every student,

and give everyone a bright future.

She actually helped us revise one of the action steps we had.

They take to heart what I have to say.

Because I'm not only representing myself,

but all the students and the Edgewood community.

To see everyone come together and really develop these plans,

it was as if I was seeing our dreams grow

right in front of me.

And I was happy and so excited to be a part of that.

To actually hear firsthand the struggles

that a principal, and or teacher, and or student

has to go through is just amazing.

We're not where we want to be, but we're not where we were.

For Edgewood to have met standard

is not a small accomplishment.

It's a very, very big accomplishment.

Five years down the road, I can't wait to see what we do.

Home Workout for MUSCLE GAIN EP2 | Chest and Triceps Mad Gains - Duration: 6:13.

okay guys, welcome back to our course - home workout for muscle gain and in

this video I will show you the second routine. let's go. guys, the second routine

that I will show you is really amazing, it consists of different types of

exercises - explosive and Static and it will make your muscles work in different

ways and also those exercises are quite challenging in their nature, so the first

exercise is inclined diamond push-up and this exercise will also help your

upper body a lot, but especially your shoulders. many people ask me how to work

out the shoulders and how to get big shoulders, so this is one of the routines

that will help you achieve that. so check it out - put your arms as if you were

doing diamond push-up, but in this exercise you have to incline forward

more, so this way you will work your shoulders even more. so, incline forward

and do, let's say, five to eight

repetitions, okay. so, make sure to have your elbows out and to do it with a form that

I showed you, okay. the second exercise that you would need

to do immediately after is tucked planche hold. so, it's similar to the other video,

instead, without doing push-ups you simply hold yourself in a tucked planche

position, okay. okay, so just pick up your legs, let's say ten to fifteen seconds is

enough and also for some people the exercise could be quite challenging, but

it's good because what challenges you - that's exactly what what will

make you stronger. so, the next exercise will be explosive push-ups, so probably

many of you have tried explosive push-ups, so there is not much science to

it - just the way you do regular push-ups just push yourself out and clap and if

you have questions how much time you should rest between the exercises - well

generally I answer that you have to wait until your heart rate calms down and

that you feel ready to continue. each person is different and each person has

a different level of athletic preparation, so of course it's impossible

to say that it should be thirty seconds or one minute, you have

to learn how to feel your body for yourself. so just wait for your heart

rate to calm down, for your body to be ready for the next round, just don't wait

too much, so that your muscles don't get cold, but as soon as you're ready go for

it. okay, so the next one is clap push-ups, so just. okay, so again five - eight

push-ups this way and then, after that you hold a regular L sit, which is a

static exercise, but it's really amazing

and you hold it for 10-15-20 seconds, but of course if you don't rest it will be hard

to hold it longer, but also it's good, because it will be more intense that way

okay, so this was our second routine for the

home workout for muscle gain and once again, we're showing you those

exercises that are quite difficult in their nature, so that using only

weight of your body you can achieve growth of your muscles and development

of strength. I will see you in the next episode, all the best
