What is the environmental impact of your lunch-time sandwich?

Do you take a packed lunch to work or buy a sandwich from the shop? The carbon footprint of your sandwich could be having a major impact on greenhouse gas emissions according to new research.

Researchers at The University of Manchester have carried out the first ever study looking at the carbon footprint of sandwiches, both home-made and pre-packaged.

They considered the whole life cycle of sandwiches, including the production of ingredients, sandwiches and their packaging, as well as food waste discarded at home and elsewhere in the supply chain.

Altogether the team looked at 40 different sandwich types, recipes and combinations. They found the highest carbon footprints for the sandwiches with pork meat (bacon, ham or sausages) and those containing cheese or prawns.

Of the recipes considered, the most carbon-intensive variety is a ready-made all-day breakfast sandwich which includes egg, bacon and sausage. The researchers estimate that this type of sandwich generates 1441 grams of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2 eq.).

This is equivalent to CO2 emissions from driving a car for 12 miles.

The sandwich with the lowest carbon emission equivalent is a simple home-made favourite, ham and cheese. The study also found that making your own sandwiches at home could reduce carbon emissions by a half compared to ready-made equivalents.

According to the British Sandwich Association (BSA) more than 11.5 billion sandwiches are consumed each year in the UK alone.

Around half of those are made at home and the other half are bought over the counter in shops, supermarkets and service stations around the country.

That means the UK spends nearly £8 billion a year on the breaded snack, at an average cost of £2 per snack.

Professor Adisa Azapagic, from the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Sciences, said: Given that sandwiches are a staple of the British diet as well as their significant market share in the food sector, it is important to understand the contribution from this sector to the emissions of greenhouse gases.

For example, consuming 11. 5 billion sandwiches annually in the UK generates, on average, 9. 5 million tonnes of CO2 eq. , equivalent to the annual use of 8.

The results show the largest contributor to a sandwichs carbon footprint is the agricultural production and processing of their ingredients. Depending on the type, this can account for around 37%-67% of CO2 eq.

Keeping sandwiches chilled in supermarkets and shops also contributes to their carbon footprint. This can account for up to a quarter of their greenhouse gas emission equivalent.

Then there is the packaging material which comes in at up to 8.5 % and, finally, transporting materials and refrigerating sandwiches themselves adds a further 4%.

The study concludes that the carbon footprint of the snacks could be reduced by as much as 50 per cent if a combination of changes were made to the recipes, packaging and waste disposal.

The researchers also suggest extending sell-by and use-by dates to reduce waste.

Professor Azapagic, who also heads up the Sustainable Industrial Systems research group, added: We need to change the labelling of food to increase the use-by date as these are usually quite conservative.

Commercial sandwiches undergo rigorous shelf-life testing and are normally safe for consumption beyond the use-by date stated on the label..

The BSA also estimate that extending the shelf life of sandwiches by relaxing such dates would help save at least 2000 tonnes of sandwich waste annually.

The study also recommends reducing or omitting certain ingredients that have a higher carbon footprint, like lettuce, tomato, cheese and meat. Reducing ingredients, such as cheese and meat, would also reduce the amount of calories eaten, contributing towards healthier lifestyles.

Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott "Fighting Over Baby Names" Is Fake News - Duration: 6:41.

Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott "Fighting Over Baby Names" Is Fake News

A report that claims Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott are "fighting over baby news" is fake news.

Gossip Cop can expose this made-up story, which was manufactured by a site that's not even sure Jenner is pregnant.

We're told the entire article is untrue.

According to the serial fibbers at HollywoodLife, Jenner and the rapper are "angrily feuding over baby names." The repeatedly discredited outlet then tips off that not only did it fabricate its latest article, but also that it actually knows nothing about Jenner's personal life.

HollywoodLies, as its known, writes that "with her reported first child soon arriving," Jenner has a lot on her mind, including what she and Scott are "going to name their alleged baby.".

Reported first child? Alleged baby? Jenner is 100 percent pregnant and is actually due in just a matter of weeks.

Still, HollywoodLies pretends it has "sources" telling the untrustworthy blog that Scott and Jenner are "not seeing eye to eye" when it comes to naming their "alleged" baby.

An almost assuredly made-up "insider" is quoted as saying, "Travis and Kylie have been at war over their baby name." The often shamed site's so-called "insider" adds that both the reality star and the rapper "have strong opinions about the name of their baby," but Jenner "refuses to compromise with Travis at all.".

The same fake source contends Jenner has "a few names picked out" and is being "stubborn with Travis who does not agree with her choices.

" The concocted tipster further claims, "Travis has his own thoughts on what the name should be," but Jenner "will not give in at all.

So, what are some of the "names picked out" by Jenner? The blog doesn't mention a single one.

OK, since Scott has his "own thoughts on what the name should be," what are some of his top choices?

Once again, the outlet doesn't furnish any examples.

And the reason is simple: HollywoodLife makes up fake news on occasion and often lies about having inside sources.

It appears the site completely manufactured its report about Jenner and Scott "fighting over baby names.".

As previously noted by Gossip Cop and even explained by Kim Kardashian on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," no one is talking about Jenner's pregnancy to the media.

HollywoodLies is being untruthful when it maintains "insiders" are feeding it information about her.

Logically, if the outlet actually had "insiders," it would know Jenner is pregnant and not have to temper its stories with words like "reported" or "alleged."

Also, it know a few of the baby names Jenner and Scott are supposedly "fighting over.".

Of course, the site has a reputation for publishing all sorts of falsehoods about Jenner, including that she was already in labor, retiring from celebrity life, and considering having her ex-boyfriend Tyga in the delivery room when she gives birth to her "alleged baby."

Not surprisingly, the cut-and-paste blog Celebrity Insider picked up HollywoodLies' article about Jenner and Scott "fighting over baby names" without bothering to fact-check it.

Regardless, Gossip Cop still investigated the story and an impeccable family source assures us it's all untrue.

Kesha's 'Praying' is Grammys #MeToo moment - Duration: 2:19.

Kesha's 'Praying' is Grammys #MeToo moment

Keshas prayers have been answered with a show of solidarity.

At Sundays Grammy Awards, the pop singer gave an emotional performance of her single Praying, joined on stage by Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Andra Day, Julia Michaels and Bebe Rexha and the Resistance Revival Chorus.

After her performance, Kesha quoted lyrics from her song in a message of gratitude posted on Twitter.

After everything youve done I can thank you for how strong I have become, she tweeted. Thank you to the @RecordingAcad, the women on stage with me tonight, and everyone who has supported me through this whole journey..

Keshas hit song marked her first release of new music in almost four years.

The singer has been tied up in a long back-and-forth legal battle with producer Dr. Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald), stemming from 2014 allegations that he drugged, emotionally abused and sexually assaulted her. Gottwald has long denied those claims.

Singer and actor Janelle Monae, who introduced Kesha on the stage, gave a strong rebuke of sexual misconduct and gender inequality in entertainment and across industries. We come in peace, but we mean business, she said, while donning a Times Up pin.

Earlier in the evening, Kesha lost out to Ed Sheerans Shape Of You for best pop solo performance.

Seven Reasons Why The Online MBTI Community Is Dominated By Intuitives - Duration: 7:22.

7 Reasons Why The Online MBTI Community Is Dominated By Intuitives

It's no surprise to anyone who frequents MBTI blogs, forums and online communities

to hear that sensor types are drastically underrepresented on the Internet.

While iNtuitives make up only 26.6% of the global population, they are the definite majority

in online MBTI communities.

Here are a few reasons why this imbalance occurs.

1.

Most of our societal resources are already catered toward sensors.

With sensors making up roughly 73.4% of the global population, it's only natural that

the majority of our education systems, workplaces and social norms are catered toward sensing

types.

Growing up, sensors are more likely than intuitives to be provided with the tools they need in

order to excel.

For this reason, they may be less likely to seek out systems that help them understand

themselves, and how their method of processing information relates to the world around them.

For many sensors, the MBTI is simply telling them information about themselves that they

have already been made aware of, whereas intuitives are more likely to find that the MBTI is the

first resource they've come across that directly identifies how they process information.

2.

Intuitives, by definition, enjoy exploring theory.

Intuitives enjoy understanding the bigger picture of how things connect and relate to

one another.

They want to know the 'why' and the 'how' behind what interests them, rather than just

the 'what.'

The MBTI provides intuitives with a tool for understanding what's behind human behavior

and how those around them are interpreting reality.

Since intuitives value the ability to perceive a situation from various different angles,

they enjoy using the MBTI as a means of understanding other viewpoints.

Intuitives don't just want to know how they see the world, they want to know how everyone

else around them sees it and what the implications of those various different viewpoints are.

3.

Sensors prefer learning information that they can tangibly apply to their lives.

Sensors are more than capable of deeply understanding theory, it's just that they don't want

to waste their time learning theories that are not useful to them.

An ESTJ may become incredibly interested in the MBTI if it helps him or her develop effective

leadership strategies in the workplace, or an ESFP may enjoy it if it helps him or her

better relate to others.

Whereas intuitives enjoy learning theory for the fun of it, sensors prefer learning theory

that can be practically applied in some way.

For this reason, sensors who are exposed to the MBTI may quickly lose interest in it if

they do not see a way in which it applies to their everyday lives.

4.

The MBTI provides intuitives with a community of like-minded people that many of them have

not found in real life.

With sensing types dominating the world, many intuitives types grow up feeling ostracized

from or out of place around their peers.

This may be particularly true for INxx types, who often express difficulty relating to others

in the early years of their lives.

Even the more outgoing ENxx types often report feeling as though they've only ever fit

in on a surface level, and that they grew up longing to find others who shared and understood

their true complexity.

The MBTI community connects intuitives with like-minded people who share commonalities

in the ways that they process information and view the world.

For many intuitive types, it is a massive relief to know that there are others out there

who think, feel, understand and experience the world in a similar way to them.

5.

The MBTI provides intuitives with the language that they were previously lacking to describe

their problems.

Intuitives must reason their way to everything: why they are feeling a certain way, why a

certain problem is continuously manifesting, why something about their life just seems

off even though they can't quite put their finger on what.

The MBTI helps intuitives assign language to the hunches and feelings that they have

never previously been able to put into words.

An 'off' day for an ENTP can be explained by a disruption to their extroverted feeling.

A continuous lack of follow-through for the INFP can be explained by under-developed extroverted

thinking.

For the most part, intuitives dislike acting without first understanding the root cause

of the problem they are facing.

And the MBTI finally provides these types with the language that they need to understand

and communicate their abstract, existential problems.

6.

Intuitives tend to spend more time thinking than doing – therefore they spend more time

on the Internet.

To the average intuitive, exploring and debating ideas is significantly more interesting than

putting those ideas into practice.

An INTJ may enjoy designing a system significantly more than they enjoy implementing it.

An INFP may enjoy reflecting on their feelings for someone more than they enjoy actually

spending time with that person.

As a result of their tendency to prefer speculation over implementation, many intuitives spend

a significant portion of their time reading, researching, debating and sharing ideas online.

Whereas sensors want to see the potential results of their theorizations as soon as

possible, most intuitives are happy to dissect and analyze a theory seemingly forever, and

the Internet is a great place to do just that.

7.

The intuitive community (unfortunately) fuels a sense of backlash toward the sensing community.

Let's take a minute to talk about the very real intuitive bias that exists in the MBTI

world.

Many Ns grow up feeling as though their particular form of intelligence is being misunderstood,

disregarded or overlooked by the sensors that surround them.

Therefore, it is a relief to finally find a community in which their strengths are both

understood and celebrated.

While finding the MBTI community is a wonderful experience for most intuitives, it has also

spurred a unique online counterculture, in which many intuitive types glorify iNtuition

as a trait that is superior to sensing and deem themselves a master intellectual race.

This attitude is often quick to turn sensors off of the MBTI, just as intuitives often

see their form of intelligence go unappreciated in the real world, sensors often see their

form of intelligence go unappreciated in the MBTI community.

This semi-intentionally fosters an exclusive community of intuitives on the Internet – who

occasionally sit back to wonder why the hell there are no sensors in the online MBTI community.

All in all, that's the 7 Reasons Why The Online MBTI Community Is Dominated By iNtuitives.

How Will I Pay My Medical Bills Until the Lawsuit is Resolved? | Collins, Collins, & Ray, P.A. - Duration: 0:58.

How will my medical bills get paid until I get money from the lawsuit?

This answer can be complicated, but the primary sources of payment for an insurance claim,

which is all accident cases are, would be from the insurance policies that are available,

it could be your own insurance, which is med pay, you might be entitled to receive.

You also should be entitled to receive the benefits of any healthcare insurance that

you already have.

Now, these insurance companies will be seeking reimbursement, but they can be relied on as

a good payment source for your medical bills as they accrue after the injury.

In addition, it could be that if you're on the job, you have workers compensation payments

that are due and owing, and it could be at times that you just have to pay a portion

of these out of pocket, tabulating those expenses, and making demand for payment as part of your

claim.

We assist clients all the time with these issues.

Is Amazon Go the Beginning of the End for Humanity? - Duration: 4:42.

Oh hi! I need to tell you about the time that I entered into thievery. This ties

into the new Amazon Go store which, while convenient, may be the cause of the fall

of humanity. But first – I'm a thief. And no I'm not talking about the time I broke

into people's houses. I've told you that story before. No, this was a much earlier

time. I was far, far younger. I was much more beautiful. I had dreams of breaking

into people's houses. So I'm in the 7 Eleven – and before I go on, we're all

promising to be cool, right? There's no statute of limitations in Canada and I

can't afford to go to jail. There's just so much napping I have to get done. I'm

there with a friend whose name we'll say is ... let's say Jonathan Tomato-Tomahto.

We're deep in conversation. I've gone in to grab a KitKat bar, and subconsciously,

though, as we continue the conversation we just leave and go back to school. The

KitKat did not even survived a block in my possession, but as soon as that school

bell rang I remembered I did not pay for that. Well that awful feeling that I had

when I came face to face with the fact that I'm a criminal is what Amazon wants

to give you every single day. Amazon Go is this brick-and-mortar store

which has packaged quick food items. The selling point is that it's fully

automated and has no cashiers. When you enter the store you take out your phone,

open up an app, and scan your phone. And then the cameras that are all around the

store are tracking you and knowing what you actually take off the shelf. Say a

can of pitted peaches for your lunch break. I'm still thinking about Call Me

By Your Name. I should make it clear that there are some employees on hand.

They're there to restock items, make sure that the machines are up and running, and

probably trying their best to avoid eye contact. Your credit card – which is tied

to your Amazon account – is charged as you leave the store. No need to line up, no

need to scan, no need to talk to another human being. Really no shame at all that

you've picked up 17 cans of spray cheese because Katherine made a

passive-aggressive comment about how you can't wear white at this time of year.

Well maybe I can, Katherine! Here's the constant struggle I

have in these modern times. I absolutely want things that are more convenient,

while at the same time understanding that my privacy and my humanity are

being corrupted. As for the first point, privacy, automation is coming whether we

like it or not. The McDonald's beside my house uses touchscreens

to order my cancerous almost beef patties.

That's just gonna become more prevalent as time goes on. The time of face-to-face

interaction between employee and customer is gonna fade into obscurity

over the next decade. Sure, there's gonna be outliers in that situation but the

majority of stuff that we do: retail, fast-food, even going to the doctor

doesn't really need another human being to be there. And because of that cameras

and microphones are coming more into our public and private lives. My credit card

is on so many different servers as we speak, there's going to come a time where I can

send my entire medical history just by tapping on my screen. The second point,

our humanity, is what I worry about a little bit more. The empathy that we have

for others because of face-to-face interaction could go away completely. By

making it a unique experience to talk to another human being

I think we've become less human. By cultivating an incubated existence we do

become nomads instead of this collection of people. We need to look no further

than the modern dating scene. The idea of phoning somebody up and asking them out

on a date is completely absurd. Rather we'd rather swipe left or right and then bone

down after we've been sufficiently witty in a text chat. Now this makes it sound

like I'm completely pessimistic about the future, and I don't really think I am.

But now is the time to really contend with our convenience, and our souls. And

maybe this is a tad unfair to solely lay at the feet of Amazon, because do I want

this? Heck yeah, I want it! Even with the hiccups they've been having. But with the

realization that we have to figure out what we do with the society that's gonna

eliminate most of the low paying jobs. And socially how are we a society if we

don't society together? That's bad grammar, I know. But I also

don't have the solutions to these questions. I'm just the clueless white

guy on YouTube who people keep saying to do ASMR. Overall I like the idea of being

able to go in and grab the food I want and leave. But we also have to contend

with the question of whether or not we want to have convenience or simplicity.

Because those two things are very different. However, I'm much more

interested in knowing what you have to say about this. Is this just a convenient

thing that Amazon has created? Or is this the beginning of the end of humanity? Let

me know down in the comments below. I'll be answering each and every one. Thank

you so much for watching! My name is Kyle. I upload videos every Monday and

Thursday. If you liked what you saw consider telling somebody about it. You

can also like, comment, subscribe, all that junk, And also, if you want to

deeply support me you can go over on to my Patreon page, and for as little as a

dollar a month you can help support me over there. I did go back and pay for the

KitKat bar, just in case anyone is wondering. And in case the fuzz are

watching as well.
