My nature is fire.

This is how Saint Catherine of Siena summed up her own life.

A woman with deep and powerful statements.

One of the rare sparks of this dark 14th century.

Europe is divided and in decline.

The plague exterminates a third of the population.

The Ottoman armies stand at the gates of Vienna.

Chaos reigns.

Leadership is in crisis.

Oh yes, recognizable.

In this context, an ardent girl decides not to marry,

but to devote her life to inner renewal.

From a personal relationship and dialogue with God.

Not in the monastery, but in her little room at home, as a lay person.

She thinks she can live there alone, like a desert monk, immersed in God.

O eternal Trinity, You are a deep sea

in which the more I seek the more I find,

and the more I find, the more I seek to know You.

But the fire wants to spread outside.

She treats the pestiferous, is infected but survives the disease.

A small group forms around her, the Caterinati.

Attracted by her powerful words and holy way of life.

She writes letters to lay people, kings, bishops, even the Pope.

From her intimate bond with the Lord she advocates peace and unity.

She travels to the French Avignon and convinces the Pope to return to Rome.

She will not experience this unity and peace in her life.

But patron saint of Europe is her deserved title.

How loud is too loud? - Duration: 3:51.

- Proud boys?

How can being proud stop you hearing?

I've never heard anything so silly.

- Loud noise!

Not proud boys.

His hearing's gone again.

How can volume cause hearing loss?

(playful music)

- [Narrator] Hallux's Hearing Helpdesk.

- So professor, have you been anywhere really noisy recently

or been listening to loud noises?

They're common causes of hearing problems.

- Proud boys?

How can being proud stop you hearing?

I've never heard anything so silly.

- Loud noise!

Not proud boys.

His hearing's gone again.

How can volume cause hearing loss?

- Well, loud noises can damage the tiny hairs

inside the inner ear that send messages to the brain.

Once damaged, they can't fix themselves

and this can lead to tinnitus,

an annoying ringing sound in your head,

or even hearing loss.

- Crikey!

How loud does the sound have to be?

Should we all be whispering?

- That might be kinder to our ears,

but I'm not sure it would help us understand each other!

We measure sound in decibels,

it helps us put sounds into categories

from the quietest to the loudest.

The quietest sound audible to a healthy human ear

is zero decibels.

Let's check it out with my audiometer.

It's very difficult to find complete total silence in fact,

but this is pretty close.

My whispering is about 15 decibels.

- [Hallux] You'll have to speak up, Mel,

I can't hear a thing!

- Alright!

Normal talking, like this, is about 60 decibels.

Things get much louder than this in everyday life.

Let's go outside to find some more noises.

- Well, this is nice!

What a lovely sunny day!

People enjoying their gardens.

Looks like barbecue weather!

(electric lawnmower buzzing) - Is that a bee?

- Nope, just a lawnmower.

That's about 90 decibels close up.

(car horn beeping)

- Oh, that made me jump!

- Car horns like that come in at around 110 decibels.

That's a level that can be harmful to our hearing.

Fortunately, things like lawnmowers and car horns

are only loud for a short time.

Someone though who uses a lawnmower all day

should use ear protectors,

a way to protect ears from damage or hearing loss.

Sometimes you might find yourself somewhere even louder!

Rock concerts and jet planes

create very high volumes of noise.

Time to put these ear protectors on!

- Why, don't you like the music?

- No, it's just that sounds above 140 decibels

can cause instant damage to your hearing.

Let's get inside the clinic.

- So how might someone realize

that they've damaged their hearing?

- Signs that you may have a problem with your hearing

include having to sit close to the television

or having to turn the volume up on the radio,

even when other people are telling you it's too loud.

Or you might find it difficult to realize

that your name is being called

unless the person is very close to you.

Or you might have to change ears

when you're using a telephone.

So, you can see why it's so important to protect your ears

from loud noises, they can cause hearing loss.

You need to be especially careful when listening to music

or playing videogames on headphones

because it's very easy to turn the volume up

to unsafe levels.

Once those tiny hairs inside your ears

have been damaged there, you cannot fix them.

- Ear protectors all round then!

Although I can't hear much without them at the moment!

- Yes, we haven't got to the bottom of your problem yet!

- My bottom's not the problem, Mel,

and it's rather rude of you to say!

- Professor.

John Mayer is the World's Best-Dressed Rockstar: Here are 10 of Our Favorite Outfits - Duration: 6:12.

He's the bluesy rockstar known best for

his mom-friendly fanbase and Grammy-winning

hits like "Your Body is a Wonderland."

But over the past five years, John Mayer has become

a bonafide messiah on the streetwear scene too.

Famed for his huge collection of visvim...

rumor has it he owns more than the brand's founder

Hiroki Nakamura does...

He's shaken up the rigid rock world with his hype-friendly,

colorful fits, and an encyclopaedic knowledge of

Asia's streetwear scene.

The 40-year-old singer-songwriter and guitarist

has even spoken about his love for jumping

on sneaker drops in the past.

He once told Nike they make him more excited

than "going to a Mercedes dealership."

Hell, if you've got the cash to spend on

a new Benz, why wouldn't you spend it on

some Supreme too?

So from his on-stage outfits to his fashion-friendly

Instagram feed, these are

10 of John Mayer's finest style moments...

We all know John is one of visvim's biggest fans,

and he certainly proved it with this

'fit pic he posted on Instagram earlier this year.

From his cargo pants to his suede wakanabi boots,

John's dressed head to toe in Nakamura's

storied streetwear brand.

But it's the patterned FW18 kimono that

EVERYBODY's vying for.

Our tip for pulling it off?

Layer it over simple pieces, just like Mayer does.

In this paparazzi shot, John proves he's

in the know by wearing one standout piece:

A pink box-fit hoodie with oversized laces

for drawstrings by Japanese cult brand

KAPITAL.

He complements it with a pair of crisp black

trousers and some OFF-WHITE x Nike Air Max

90 kicks, gifted to the rockstar by Virgil himself.

Here Mayer shows us how to look slick while

keeping comfortable on a long-haul flight.

In this look spotted after touching down in

Rio de Janeiro, John layers a two-piece floral

get-up from KAPITAL over a simple grey tee.

His bold red sliders are yet another visvim cop.

Crazily on trend for Spring/Summer 2018,

this is a perfect look for a streetwear fan heading

someplace sunny.

Anybody who's kept an eye on Demna at Balenciaga

knows that track jackets in retro colorways

are in for Spring/Summer '18.

While in Rio, John was spotted rocking this

eye-catching, vintage jacket and short 'fit...

the kind you could find at your own local vintage store.

Making it more luxurious, he paired it with a

Louis Vuitton backpack and some

ACRONYM x Nike Air Prestos.

This is a lot of color to pull of if you're

not a man like Mayer, so streetwear fans...

wear it wisely.

He might be a streetwear obsessive, but John Mayer

rarely shows off luxury sport looks.

This one here is the exception.

Appropriately for a Valentine's Day Instagram post,

John flexed this millennial pink outfit

from the Italian brand Stone Island,

complete with technical sweatpants and

zip-through hoodie.

We know real men wear pink, but John stops short

of looking like a candy wrapper by wearing

adidas's Superstar silhouette, made in collaboration

with another of his favorite brands...

BAPE.

We've never felt more broke than when

John Mayer turned his $500 tee from the Supreme

x Louis Vuitton collab into an art project.

He wore the tee on stage in Phoenix last summer,

flexing the '70s pastel dye job with some

cargo pants from Nike's outdoor-friendly

ACG brand, and some mountaineering-style sneakers

from Louis Vuitton.

Either way, it seems like he's been spending

a little too much time with Online Ceramics,

the DIY T-shirt brand that Mayer collaborated

with on some crazy tie-dye merch for his band

Dead & Co last year.

If it weren't for the hyped brands John Mayer

so often wears, he could easily get

away with dressing like every other dude his age.

But on stage he makes the T-shirt and

blue jeans cool again.

At a Denver stop on his recent tour,

he paired a basic look with some mountain boots

from YEEZY Season 4 in the classic camel colorway.

If that wasn't cool enough, after the show

he handed them over to illustrator Matt McCormick,

who transformed them into a sick, one-off

work of art that we all want to get our hands on.

If you needed more evidence that John can

do low key, check out this look.

His nuanced, mom-friendly take on the Ralph Lauren

Polo Bear trend is simple: Just a vintage

sweater with some distressed denim, courtesy of

WTAPS.

But look closer.

John is casually flexing the ice on his wrist...

an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch in platinum,

costing a cool $280,000.

Even when this Grammy star is off duty,

you can still spot him wearing some of the best

outfits on Instagram.

On Christmas, Mayer headed back home to Montana

for vacation but came prepped with

some snow-friendly looks.

Here, he layers a multi-colored shearling-trim

jacket from KAPITAL over a long-sleeve tee,

bearing a quote from none other than Bob Marley.

Clearly it's one of his favorites,

as he's been spotted in it before.

Low-key and loose grey slacks finish

off this hype-friendly look.

Like most of us, John's love of streetwear

started with his sneaker collection.

While he's branched out, he still loves

a classic pair of Nike Air Max.

He recently launched his own unofficial collection,

inspired by his favorite show, 'Rick & Morty.'

The latest colorway, called "Pickle Rick,"

pairs a forest green base, with a deep red

tick and fluorescent accents,

and can be bought through NIKEiD.

If you want to cop the whole 'fit, his cuffed

camo sweatpants are from WTAPS.

But you might have some trouble getting your

hands on that jacket...

It's a vintage noragi, and knowing John's

love for starting trends rather than following

them, don't be surprised if it's a rare one of a kind.

Instead, if you want to jump on John's favorite brand,

visvim always have a few in their roster.

Is this the Most Functional Stealth Camper Van Conversion? - Updates to Tylers Ford E350. - Duration: 6:06.

(light jazzy music)

- Hey again, everybody.

Tyler here with my Ford E350.

You may remember me from Forrest's last video

where we did a big tour of my van.

And we wanted to do just a quick update

addressing a lot of the questions that were

brought up in that video and introduce you to

my new little buddy Casper.

We're gonna go with addressing the shower question first,

because that was huge.

Everyone was asking about how I do it

without getting everything wet.

We didn't set it up right the first time

so we're gonna do it.

So the shower tank is right here.

Normally it doesn't sit right there.

It hooks up right here.

Shower curtain comes out from where

the toilet is now residing.

This guy.

(light music)

And there you have your shower curtain,

and you just put a plastic tote there

to catch all the water,

and pour it in my gray water collection.

Goes open here.

Hello.

(light music)

This has been modified from the shelf

that rolled down, or that folded down, sorry.

And then I've just made it into a net up here

to hold everything.

Sleeping bags, extra clothes, keyboard still in here,

and lots of just backpacking equipment and stuff.

But it's really upped the storage quite a bit.

Made it less of a hassle with this swinging

thing all the time.

Guitar has moved down here to a stand.

It used to be hanging beside the bed

but I found that I would bang into it

with my elbow all the time.

It just got to be kinda cumbersome and annoying

and would de-tune by whacking against the wall,

which I found to be really irritating.

And my laptop kept sliding around.

So I made this little bookshelf

to kinda store things, and books,

and my little drawing tablet.

One of the biggest things, the biggest change,

is this little guy.

Casper?

Oh, he's not in there.

Uh, in his kennel, I took the door off of a

standard kennel and made some custom hardware.

So he has a little place to live.

It's insulated with reflectics.

And lined with fleece so the walls are really soft,

and it keeps cool in there in the summer.

And it kept him really warm during the

winter months for sure.

And the trash can has now been converted

to Casper's food.

This is a great place to put it where he can't get at it.

I've added another water jug underneath,

another 25 liters.

And I've since gone with a single burner stove

instead of the dual burner,

which is a lot easier to deal with.

Unscrewing and screwing-in the propane

was just getting to be a hassle.

Great new location for the toilet.

That stops it from coming out.

And I've also, for the cleanliness and stuff I installed

a 12-volt shop vac.

It can reach like every corner of the van.

(vacuum humming)

Back here if you need to, the counter, the dog.

(laughing)

Yeah, that's been really helpful.

In regards to the rainwater,

I've had a lot of questions of if I'm drinking it,

or storing it, or giving it to friends, etc., etc.

And that's not the case.

It was just a gimmicky thing that I installed

because I saw that the rainwater collected there.

And if it does get collected, it just gets used

on my mountain bike or to clean mud off my tires.

And we've moved the water tank that was way up here

down here facing out the back to wash my bike.

So this is the fill port where you fill it up.

And we'll go out back and check that out.

(equipment rumbling)

Yeah, initially I had it, I had the larger tank

as the shower tank.

But I found that showering with cold water

got really irritating.

So I switched to the smaller tank 'cause it was

a lot easier to put hot water in the smaller tank

and I only ended up needing that much water.

I end up using this and the shower more

now they've been switched.

And I have much more storage space

because this entire tank came down here

instead of being where my clothes and stuff used to be.

What is earnest money? - Duration: 5:41.

Today I am answering the question what is earnest money, and we are starting

right now. Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel. I'm Karin Carr, a real estate

agent with Keller Williams in Savannah Georgia. If you're interested in all

things real estate be sure to hit that subscribe button right there because you

know, I talk about some good stuff every week and if you're not a

subscriber how are you gonna know? So what is earnest money? When you are

buying a house you're going to put down a good faith deposit. This is what earnest

money is. So let's say you're under contract buy a house for $150,000.

You'll put down your earnest money as a deposit to take

the house off of the market and move forward with selling it to you. Let's

say that you're buying a house for $200,000 you're going to put up some

money as a good-faith deposit in order for the seller to take it off the market

and work with you. This is money that is refundable to you if you cancel during

your due diligence period. If you don't know what due diligence is I did a video

about that. You can link right up here and watch that later. But first you're

going to do all of your inspections. You're going to do a home inspection,

maybe a termite inspectionm you can practice driving to work every morning

from the house, you can check out the neighborhood, you can see what the HOA

fees are, and basically inspect that house to your heart's content during

your due diligence period. If you find anything that's a deal-breaker for you

and you end up cancelling you can get your earnest money back. But if you

remove your contingencies, you've done the appraisal, you've done your

inspections, you've gotten the green light from your lender, you're moving

full steam ahead, and then you cancel the seller is entitled to keep your earnest

money. This is what the seller would keep as damages if you are ever in

breach of contract, so the more money you put

down as earnest money it shows that you're a more serious buyer. But you also

stand to lose more should you ever be in breach of contract. Now if you are

working with a real estate agent who is representing you (I would never let my

buyers be in breach of contract) I would make sure that they knew... we're moving

forward with the purchase. We've gotten the green light from the lender, the

property appraised for the sales price, you've done all of your inspections,

you're happy, you know that if we go forward at this point and then you

cancel you would be losing that earnest money. Are you 100% certain that you're

ready to move forward? So hopefully you're working with an

agent that is going to be guiding you and letting you know of those timeframes

so that we never put that earnest money in jeopardy. The last thing we ever want

to do is have you lose your earnest money. There are typically three

contingencies when you're buying a house and they are listed right here - the

inspection contingency meaning we are happy with the condition of the house

and what we're getting, the financing contingency - your lender said that yes,

they will give you the loan. And the appraisal contingency where the property

has appraised for what you've offered to pay for it, if not higher. If you cancel

during your due diligence period - you did your home inspection and you were not happy

with what you found, you are entitled to get your earnest money back. If you

cancel prior to having your loan approval let's say the interest rates

went up sky-high you suddenly can't afford the monthly payment any more or

the lender denies you the loan maybe something happened you lost your job

you're not able to buy the house anymore you're able to cancel prior to the

expiration of the financing contingency and be entitled to your earnest money

back* (see description box below). If the property does not appraise for the purchase price in certain

circumstances you are entitled to get your earnest money back. But if you do

all of those things and three days before closing when everybody's all set

to close you say, "Oops, another house came on the market down the street and

we like that one better," you're probably gonna lose your earnest money. So

those are some things to be aware of. Now when you go to the closing table your

earnest money is applied toward your closing costs so

it's not in addition to the closing costs, it is part of it. If your lender said

your closing costs are going to cost $6000, you've already put down

$1000 then the cash to bring to the table would only be $5000

instead. When does earnest money get deposited? Your earnest money, whether

you write a check or you do a wire transfer, will probably get deposited the

first week that you are under contract. So make sure you have money in your

account and the check doesn't bounce. So now you know what earnest money is. If

this is your first time buying a house click this link right up here. I did a

video series on how to buy your first house ever and we walk through the

entire process step by step. If you like this video be sure to hit

the thumbs up button, leave me a comment and consider subscribing to my channel. I

post new videos every Monday and I'd love to have you join the community.

Thanks so much and we'll see you next week!

Hello, this is Karin. My stomach is seriously growling. Hello? That's a wrap.
