Samsung Galaxy A8 is now on sale and it has one major advantage over the Galaxy S9

It's been a busy few months for Samsung with the Korean company already launching its Galaxy S9 flagships. Now there's another device that's just arrived in the UK with Samsung finally unveiling its all-new Galaxy A8.

This latest smartphone is now on sale in the UK and offers users some very decent features such as a 5.6-inch Full HD Super AMOLED Infinity display, 16-megapixel camera and curved glass and metal finish which Samsung says offers a more comfortable grip.

There's also a dual-lens front-facing snapper which will bring users the ultimate photo of their face. This clever double camera allows selfie lovers to choose from close-ups, wide-angle or stunning portrait shots which add a DSLR depth of field to images.

Whilst the Galaxy A8 might not be quite as fast or powerful as the Galaxy S9, there is one massive advantage it has over Samsung's flagship. That's because this new phone costs almost half the price of the S9. Stores are selling the A8 for £449 SIM-free - the S9 costs £739.

However, there are deals that bring the price of latest call maker down even further with Carphone Warehouse offering the A8 for £349 if purchased with a SIM-only deal.

You can also pick the A8 up on contract with some very good offers available right now. One deal sees this new device on sale for just £23 per month which includes 4GB of data plus unlimited calls/texts. Theres a £25 upfront fee to pay with the the contract over two years costing £577.

"With the release of the Galaxy A8, we're bringing our customers' favourite features from our flagship smartphones, such as the Infinity Display and our first Dual Front Camera with Live Focus, to our Galaxy A series, which is already known for its premium design," said Conor Pierce, VP of IT & Mobile, Samsung UK & Ireland.

"The Galaxy A8 exemplifies our continued dedication to meeting the needs of our consumers by providing them with greater choice and convenience." Express.co.uk hopes to bring you a full Galaxy A8 review in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp is about to start making Facebook even MORE money - Duration: 3:39.

WhatsApp is about to start making Facebook even MORE money WhatsApp was bought by Facebook in 2014 for $19 billion and that investment is now finally going to start making the social media company some serious money.

In Facebook's first quarter earning results, despite the Cambridge Analytica scandal, the company reported some seriously profitable months. While recent scandal may put Facebook's future in question, its other owned platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram are set to help the company.

Instagram is starting to grow revenue and WhatsApp, despite being all losses since being bought, is about to start making money.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, in the earnings call: WhatsApp Status is by far the biggest of these products and continues to grow quickly. He went on: In just a few months, more than three million people are actively using WhatsApp Business. Its a hit and its growing quickly. This breaks down into two sections, WhatsApp Status and WhatsApp Business.   WhatsApp - Hidden tricks and features you probably dont know, but definitely should be using    .

WhatsApp Status is the app's answer to rival social media offering Snapchat. This allows users to upload edited pictures and videos from the day to give an at-a-glance view of their daily story, or Status.

The WhatsApp monthly active user base is a whopping 1.5 billion people and since Zuckerberg said that WhatsApp Status is by far the biggest, it should be beating the competition well for popularity, if not profits.

Before this, the last update from Facebook, in November, had WhatsApp Status at 300 million daily active users. Snapchat, by comparison had 187 million daily active users. Judging by the recent statements of success and growth it could be fair to assume WhatsApp has more than double the daily user base of Snapchat. It's this Status platform when Facebook plans to place ads.

Snapchat currently makes around $1.3 billion annually for its similarly placed ads. So, while users might not like the appearance of ads, Facebook's bank account balance should benefit plenty since it has far more users and can charge even more.

. WhatsApp Business, described by Zuckerberg as a hit is a newer feature that was launched at the end of January. This service attracted over three million users in three months. An impressive start when you consider this is an Android only offering in just a few countries. Expect this to expand massively when it lands on iOS and moves to more countries.
