Vowed to defeat the dragons and become first night to do this he had to find the magical

So he set out to trap so Oliver

Sir Oliver said he was going to use the shield to help people I

Wonder what sir Jackson's going to do with that field I need to get minimus

Sofia I still don't understand why we're flying towards mean fire-breathing dragons instead of away from them

The good news is if we're seeing dragons we must be embracing. Del. That's your idea of good news I

see from the book

Sir Oliver said he's getting the shield to protect people from dragons will he protect flying horses, too

Because if you will he's my new hero he will be able to protect anyone if he gets trapped. I give that landing two stars

Don't just stand there get me out of this contraption

Looks like someone's miffed that I trapped him

You will do well to curb that wagging tongue of yours burn it

And you would do well to pay more attention to what you are doing

I

Learned that move inmates. You know those dragons are dangerous you

Both put your swords down so we can just talk this out yes the lady has a point

Let us have a truce no more fighting. I promise

Legend has it the shield is hidden somewhere in this room, but where I couldn't find it and neither

You're welcome for pointing it out for you now such high and low for the ice fire shield leave no stone unturned

Look at that. There's something carved on the side of that rock

There's a cave shaped like a shield. It's across the valley

The ice fire shield must be there we must go at once

Are you going to open that damn?

What if there's a village nearby?

See enough dear princess the nearest village is miles from here the water could never reach it

Don't you dare do it Poli a noble knight must do what it takes to accomplish his deed

With the ice fire shield at my side I can protect

My lady I am in your debt, thank you now, I need your flying horse so I can stop that weasel

Hurt you why would we do that love come come willing leave the princess alone

You know these dragons most certainly we have dear old friends

He's the only person we have no choice, but to defend ourselves with fire

Why would Sir Oliver want to make you start buyers Sir Oliver wants to make the dragons appear dangerous?

So he can stop them and look like a it's you sir, Jackson. You should get the ice fire shield. He certainly should uh?

All I know is if Sir Oliver gets it. He'll drive the Dragons away a few minutes ago

I was scared of giant dragons now look at me. I'm flying with them

You are too late sir Jackson behold the ice fire shield

Away from

10 Sophia

We saw the dragon fire all the way from the castle sir Jackson. What trouble are you causing now your majesty?

I'm princess Sofia and I have something to tell you sir, Oliver. Why would you do such a thing because those dragons are menace?

They are not sir Oliver goaded them into breathing fire the shield if you please

The ice fire shield should belong to the most noble knight in the land and as for you sir Oliver

Not only have you lied, but you have risked the lives of both creature and countrymen

I hereby banish you from this land

Princess Sofia I could not have done it without you

The Standing Rock resistance and our fight for indigenous rights | Tara Houska - Duration: 11:04.

[Ojibwe: Hello.

My English name is Tara; my Native name is Zhaabowekwe.

I am of Couchiching First Nation; my clan is bear.

I was born under the Maple Sapping Moon.]

My name is Tara Houska,

I'm bear clan from Couchiching First Nation,

I was born under the Maple Sapping Moon in International Falls, Minnesota,

and I'm happy to be here with all of you.

(Applause)

Trauma of indigenous peoples has trickled through the generations.

Centuries of oppression, of isolation, of invisibility,

have led to a muddled understanding of who we are today.

In 2017, we face this mixture of Indians in headdresses

going across the plains

but also the drunk sitting on a porch somewhere you never heard of,

living off government handouts and casino money.

(Sighs)

It's really, really hard.

It's very, very difficult to be in these shoes,

to stand here as a product of genocide survival, of genocide.

We face this constant barrage of unteaching the accepted narrative.

87 percent of references in textbooks, children's textbooks, to Native Americans

are pre-1900s.

Only half of the US states mention more than a single tribe,

and just four states mention the boarding-school era,

the era that was responsible for my grandmother

and her brothers and sisters

having their language and culture beaten out of them.

When you aren't viewed as real people,

it's a lot easier to run over your rights.

Four years ago, I moved to Washington, DC.

I had finished school and I was there to be a tribal attorney

and represent tribes across the nation, representing on the Hill,

and I saw immediately why racist imagery matters.

I moved there during football season, of all times.

And so it was the daily slew of Indian heads

and this "redskin" slur everywhere,

while my job was going up on the Hill

and trying to lobby for hospitals, for funding for schools,

for basic government services,

and being told again and again

that Indian people were incapable of managing our own affairs.

When you aren't viewed as real people,

it's a lot easier to run over your rights.

And last August, I went out to Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.

I saw resistance happening.

We were standing up.

There were youth that had run 2,000 miles from Cannonball, North Dakota

all the way out to Washington, DC, with a message for President Obama:

"Please intervene.

Please do something.

Help us."

And I went out, and I heard the call,

and so did thousands of people around the world.

Why did this resonate with so many people?

Indigenous peoples are impacted first and worst by climate change.

We are impacted first and worst by the fossil-fuel industry.

Here in Louisiana, the first US climate change refugees exist.

They are Native people

being pushed off their homelands from rising sea levels.

That's our reality, that's what we live.

And with these projects comes a slew of human costs

that people don't think about:

thousands of workers influxing to build these pipelines,

to build and extract from the earth,

bringing crime and sex trafficking and violence with them.

Missing and murdered indigenous women in Canada

has become so significant it's spawned a movement

and a national inquiry.

Thousands of Native women who have disappeared,

who have been murdered.

And here in the US, we don't even track that.

We are instead left with an understanding

that our Supreme Court, the United States Supreme Court,

stripped us, in 1978, of the right to prosecute at the same rate

as anywhere else in the United States.

So as a non-Native person you can walk onto a reservation and rape someone

and that tribe is without the same level

of prosecutorial ability as everywhere else,

and the Federal Government declines these cases 40 percent of the time.

It used to be 76 percent of the time.

One in three Native women are raped in her lifetime.

One in three.

But in Standing Rock, you could feel the energy in the air.

You could feel the resistance happening.

People were standing and saying, "No more.

Enough is enough.

We will put our bodies in front of the machines

to stop this project from happening.

Our lives matter.

Our children's lives matter."

And thousands of allies came to stand with us from around the world.

It was incredible, it was incredible to stand together, united as one.

(Applause)

In my time there,

I saw Natives being chased on horseback by police officers shooting at them,

history playing out in front of my eyes.

I myself was put into a dog kennel when I was arrested.

But funny story, actually, of being put into a dog kennel.

So we're in this big wire kennel with all these people,

and the police officers are there and we're there,

and we start howling like dogs.

You're going to treat us like dogs? We're going to act like dogs.

But that's the resilience we have.

All these horrific images playing out in front of us,

being an indigenous person pushed off of Native lands again in 2017.

But there was such beauty.

On one of the days that we faced a line of hundreds of police officers

pushing us back, pushing us off indigenous lands,

there were those teenagers out on horseback across the plains.

They were herding hundreds of buffalo towards us,

and we were crying out, calling, "Please turn, please turn."

And we watched the buffalo come towards us,

and for a moment, everything stopped.

The police stopped, we stopped,

and we just saw this beautiful, amazing moment of remembrance.

And we were empowered. We were so empowered.

I interviewed a woman who had, on one day --

September 2nd,

the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation had told the courts --

there's an ongoing lawsuit right now --

they told the courts,

"Here is a sacred site that's in the direct path of the pipeline."

On September 3rd, the following day,

Dakota Access, LLC skipped 25 miles ahead in its construction,

to destroy that site.

And when that happened, the people in camp rushed up to stop this,

and they were met with attack dogs,

people, private security officers, wielding attack dogs in [2016].

But I interviewed one of the women,

who had been bitten on the breast by one of these dogs,

and the ferocity and strength of her

was incredible,

and she's out right now in another resistance camp,

the same resistance camp I'm part of,

fighting Line 3, another pipeline project in my people's homelands,

wanting 900,000 barrels of tar sands per day

through the headwaters of the Mississippi to the shore of Lake Superior

and through all the Treaty territories along the way.

But this woman's out there and we're all out there standing together,

because we are resilient, we are fierce,

and we are teaching people how to reconnect to the earth,

remembering where we come from.

So much of society has forgotten this.

(Applause)

That food you eat comes from somewhere.

The tap water you drink comes from somewhere.

We're trying to remember, teach,

because we know, we still remember.

It's in our plants, in our medicines, in our lives,

every single day.

I brought this out to show.

(Rattling)

This is cultural survival.

This is from a time that it was illegal

to practice indigenous cultures in the United States.

This was cultural survival hidden in plain sight.

This was a baby's rattle.

That's what they told the Indian agents when they came in.

It was a baby's rattle.

But it's incredible what you can do when you stand together.

It's incredible, the power that we have when we stand together,

human resistance, people having this power,

some of the most oppressed people you can possibly imagine

costing this company hundreds of millions of dollars,

and now our divestment efforts, focusing on the banks behind these projects,

costing them billions of dollars.

Five billion dollars we've cost them so far,

hanging out with banks.

(Applause)

So what can you do?

How can you help?

How can you change the conversation

for extremely oppressed and forgotten people?

Education is foundational.

Education shapes our children. It shapes the way we teach.

It shapes the way we learn.

In Washington State,

they've made the teaching of treaties and modern Native people

mandatory in school curriculum.

That is systems change.

(Applause)

When your elected officials are appropriating their budgets,

ask them: Are you fulfilling treaty obligations?

Treaties have been broken since the day they were signed.

Are you meeting those requirements?

That would change our lives, if treaties were actually upheld.

Those documents were signed.

Somehow, we live in this world where, in 2017,

the US Constitution is held up as the supreme law of the land, right?

But when I talk about treaty rights, I'm crazy.

That's crazy.

Treaties are the supreme law of the land,

and that would change so much,

if you actually asked your representative officials

to appropriate those budgets.

And take your money out of the banks.

That's huge. It makes a huge difference.

Stand with us, empathize,

learn, grow, change the conversation.

Forty percent of Native people are under the age of 24.

We are the fastest-growing demographic in the United States.

We are doctors, we are lawyers,

we are teachers, we are scientists,

we are engineers.

We are medicine men, we are medicine women,

we are sun dancers, we are pipe carriers,

we are traditional language speakers.

And we are still here.

Miigwech.

(Applause)

You Won't Believe What OUTRAGEOUS 'BAN' Pope Francis is Calling For Now - Duration: 4:52.

You Won't Believe What OUTRAGEOUS 'BAN' Pope Francis is Calling For Now.

The progressive Pope is at it again.

This time he's calling for the most outrageous ban yet.Pope Francis wants to ban ALL weapons.

The Catholic Church believes that the presence of any weapon makes us constantly live in

fear of "war."

From Town Hall Today on Twitter, the head of the Roman Catholic

Church called for a ban on all weapons.

Pope Francis asserted that the mere presence of weapons makes us constantly live in fear

of war.

Do we really want peace?

Then let's ban all weapons so we don't have to live in fear of war.

Other Popes have acknowledged that weapons do indeed create a certain environment of

fear.

Church leaders have called for bans on certain types on weapons, such as nuclear weapons,

but none have called for an outright ban on all weapons.

The naiveté of this comment is pretty remarkable for several reasons.

Surely, in an ideal world weapons would not be needed as humans would live in peace.

But, the Pope's comment, taken alone, neglects to recognize the spiritual warfare that rages

in mankind's hearts in the battle against the devil.

It is ultimately mankind's failure in this struggle that creates the bloodshed and destruction

found in the world today.

n 1982, Pope John Paul II addressed this two front battle in a speech to the United Nations

calling for a peaceful ban on all nuclear weapons.

From Pope John Paul II:

"To reverse the current trend in the arms race involves, therefore, a parallel struggle

on two fronts: on the one side, an immediate and urgent struggle by governments to reduce

progressively and equally their armaments; on the other hand, a more patient but nonetheless

necessary struggle at the level of the consciences of peoples to take their responsibility in

regard to the ethical cause of the insecurity that breeds violence by coming to grips with

the material and spiritual inequalities of our world.

With no prejudice of any kind, let us unite all our intellectual and spiritual forces,

those of statesmen, of citizens, of religious leaders, to put an end to violence and hatred

and to seek out the paths of peace."

Sadly, half-baked comments like the tweet today have become par for the course for Pope

Francis.

Not only is it pretty bad advice, but it actually undermines the Catholic Church's Catechism.

The Catechism, the official teaching of the Church, acknowledges there are certain times

when war is justified.

The Catechism obviously gives principles for avoiding war, but 2309 recognizes self-defense

is sometimes needed.Sadly, half-baked comments like the tweet today have become par for the

course for Pope Francis.

Not only is it pretty bad advice, but it actually undermines the Catholic Church's Catechism.

The Catechism, the official teaching of the Church, acknowledges there are certain times

when war is justified.

The Catechism obviously gives principles for avoiding war, but 2309 recognizes self-defense

is sometimes needed.

From the Catechism:

Avoiding war

2307 The fifth commandment forbids the intentional destruction of human life.

Because of the evils and injustices that accompany all war, the Church insistently urges everyone

to prayer and to action so that the divine Goodness may free us from the ancient bondage

of war.105

2308 All citizens and all governments are obliged to work for the avoidance of war.

However, "as long as the danger of war persists and there is no international authority with

the necessary competence and power, governments cannot be denied the right of lawful self-defense,

once all peace efforts have failed."106

2309 The strict conditions for legitimate defense by military force require rigorous

consideration.

The gravity of such a decision makes it subject to rigorous conditions of moral legitimacy.

At one and the same time:

– the damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must

be lasting, grave, and certain;

– all other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or

ineffective;

– there must be serious prospects of success;

– the use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated.

The power of modem means of destruction weighs very heavily in evaluating this condition.

These are the traditional elements enumerated in what is called the "just war" doctrine.

The evaluation of these conditions for moral legitimacy belongs to the prudential judgment

of those who have responsibility for the common good.

Furthermore, how exactly would this ban be enforced?

Would the United Nations oversee the destruction of all weapons with weapons of their own?

Then would this world power be entrusted to willingly destroy their own weapons?

Banning all weapons is such a preposterous suggestion it is not even worth going down

the rabbit hole trying to figure out the logistics of it.

what do you think about this?

Royal wedding: BBC waives TV licence fee for Brits to watch Harry and Meghan tie the knot - Duration: 2:30.

Royal wedding: BBC waives TV licence fee for Brits to watch Harry and Meghan tie the knot

They will be able to screen the event live without having to buy a licence.

The dispensation will also apply to shops and events such as agricultural shows.

Pipa Doubtfire, the BBCs head of revenue management, said: Im delighted to announce that we have decided to offer a one-off dispensation for the royal wedding on May 19.

This will allow the public to enjoy live coverage of the occasion at special events like street parties, where TV is not usually watched, without needing to buy a licence.

By law, if live television or iPlayer is viewed on any premises, those premises must be covered by a valid TV licence.

However, in exceptional circumstances, the BBC can grant a dispensation for the temporary viewing of television, so long as the viewing is for the sole purpose of screening an event which is judged by the BBC to be of national importance.

The BBC considers that the royal wedding is such an event.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, will marry the couple at a ceremony in St Georges Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The BBC previously waived the licence fee for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridges wedding.

How to prepare webmap for ArcGIS online story map - Duration: 10:14.

let's complete our web map with custom pop-ups and media a web map that will be

used in a story map hi everyone welcome back to my channel for another tutorial

before you continue to watch please take a moment to hit subscribe below if you

haven't already so today we will have a really quick tutorial on completing a

web map in preparation for a story map an ArcGIS online story map in my last

tutorial we clipped a raster in arcmap without spatial analyst so you can check

that out at the top of this video right now anyhow let's get into today's topic

so as I mentioned we will complete a web map that will be used in a story map and

one of the things that a story map highlights is an actual web map which is

why we need to do this part so this is my web map for a potential story map

showing the history of pole distribution across Kingston just a heads up this is

all fabricated. this web map shows the distribution of poles across my area of

interest I want to add custom pop-ups that will

show a user, when clicking on a pop up, a little bit of history and this will also

have an attachment with a web link so I won't go through adding layers to a web

map and renaming layers and so forth I have a tutorial on this already so you

can check that out right here if you're completely new to creating web maps. what

I will do is to change my symbology for my utility pole quickly by going to

change style you have lots of options here as it relates to symbology and I like that

so now that my symbol is changed you see that it kind of clashes with my road but

we'll fix this at a later time anyhow let's move on to the custom pop-up so

all my poles will have the same picture so when creating my pole media I will

include a link to my picture and a web link I will show you how to include this

link right now. I have a picture uploaded to my Flickr account that shows what I

need displayed in my pop up so that's the first tip your pictures must be uploaded

to your Flickr account so now I open the picture and proceed to share it I copied

the bbcode and paste that link in notepad

in notepad I remove everything after "*. jpg" and everything before HTTP what

remains will be used to include in my Pop up

so I get back to arcgis online and click configure popups on the layer for

which I need the custom pop up

I give my pop-up a title and by the drop-down list at display I select a

custom display and click configure to include my special message

in this configuration I can include unique values for a pop up by adding the

particular attribute from the drop-down list here I can play around with the

text in terms of the type size color position etc

we move to pop-up media and select add these are your options here and we

select image in this pop-up I give it a title and a little message as my caption

so for URL this is where I paste the picture link I prepared in notepad and

for the link which is actual web link I will include a link to a video but it

could just as well be a link to a website or the same picture but just

larger so we select okay to complete our custom pop-up and this is what it looks

like this is what clicking the image in the pop-up does so as you can see all my

features have the same picture and will also have the same web link but what if

you want each feature to have separate pictures and possibly separate web links

then that's something that would have to be included in your attribute table let

me show you what I mean

I have two layers here that will not be included in my story map but I just want

to show you what my attribute table would look like if each feature were to

have separate pictures and weblinks so this is just a tree species layer and

the intention here is to show a thumbnail for each species and to

include a link that shows an enlarged picture in a new window this is a world

boundary layer and the intention for this pop-up is to again show a video

thumbnail and the link in this case opens the video from YouTube in a new

window so as you can see in my attribute table I have the links to the pictures I

want displayed as well as the web link that I want opened in another window I

won't get too much into these two but will just show you quickly how the

attachments are enabled in the popup configuration so we will go to configure

pop-ups again this time on my tree species layer I'll accept the default

and go straight to the pop-up media and add image I'll give it a simple name and

by the URL line I click on that plus sign there to expand the list of

available attributes in this and I select an attribute that includes the

link to my pictures here and if I need to add the link the web link that is I

will repeat the same process in the link section this is now what my layer looks

like. just a note to get all this information into my attribute table it

was a process of copying the links for the different sizes of the same pictures

from Flickr and cleaning and then pasting it here in the attribute table

in upcoming tutorials look out for the next step in creating your story map and

more from ArcGIS online and ArcGIS pro as usual thank you so much for

watching and please don't forget to Like subscribe and share this tutorial with a

friend or colleague who you believe would benefit from this information also

leave a comment down below to let me know how you like the tutorials or if

Treatments for Cardiac Blockages - Memorial Heart and Vascular Center - Belleville, IL - Duration: 1:05.

Upcoming Treatment for Cardiac Blockages

Yogesh Patel, MD

As an interventional cardiologist or a plumber of the heart, obviously I have a lot of interest

in vessels around the heart and fixing, identifying blockages that may be critical and then treating

them medically, or you know, percutaneously with the stent.

My other areas are valvular so, you know, heart disease where their leaky valve, the

mitral valve between left upper and left chamber.

We don't necessarily have to operate right now.

We're going to have most likely an approval of a clip that we can clip the leaflets of

the valve and decrease the leakage so we don't have to necessarily operate on those individuals.

Or individuals who just can't have a surgery because they have too many risk factors, and

they may not survive the surgery.

We can perform this procedure.

Bill Gates Warns Millions Could Die If US Doesn't Prepare For Coming Pandemic - Duration: 7:37.

Bill Gates Warns Millions Could Die If US Doesn't Prepare For Coming Pandemic

by Tyler Durden

Should a deadly pandemic comparable to the 1918 influenza outbreak reach the US in the

relatively near future, the US government would be powerless to stop it.

And in all likelihood, hundreds of thousands - if not, millions - of Americans will die.

That's the message from a Washington Post interview with Microsoft founder Bill Gates,

which touched on many of the same subjects from a talk he gave Friday before the Massachusetts

Medical Society.

Bill Gates says the U.S. government is falling short in preparing the nation and the world

for the "significant probability of a large and lethal modern-day pandemic occurring in

our lifetimes."

Gates discussed his efforts to convince the Trump administration to set aside more funding

for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and to prioritize the creation of a national

response plan that would govern how resources are deployed during a pandemic or biological

weapons attack.

During the interview, the billionaire who appears to have gotten such a touch eccentric

in his gray years, confirmed that he had raised the issue of pandemic preparedness with President

Trump, and that he tried to convince the president that he has a chance to lead on the issue

of global health security.

According to Gates, Trump told him to raise these issues with officials at the Health

and Human Services Department, the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug

Administration.

Gates said he also met with HR McMaster, who was ousted as National Security Advisor last

month, and he hopes to meet with McMaster's successor John Bolton.

He is probably the only one.

That said, Gates may have a point: Even this winter's flu season - the worst in years - overwhelmed

hospitals, some of which were forced to pitch tents outside the facilities and deploy other

emergency accommodations.

Gates, whose Gates Foundation focuses on public health initiative, has shifted his focus in

recent years to international pandemic awareness and preparation.

To be sure, he's not the only one who believes the developed world is dangerously ill-prepared

to beat back such a threat.

Gates and his wife, Melinda, have repeatedly warned that a pandemic is the greatest immediate

threat to humanity.

Experts say the risk is high, because new pathogens are constantly emerging and the

world is so interconnected.

Many experts agree that the United States remains underprepared for a pandemic or a

bioterrorism threat.

The governments sprawling bureaucracy, they say, is not nimble enough to deal with

mutations that suddenly turn an influenza virus into a particularly virulent strain,

as the 1918 influenza did in killing an estimated 50 million to 100 million people worldwide.

Even this winters harsh seasonal flu was enough to overwhelm some hospitals, forcing

them to pitch tents outside emergency rooms to cope with the crush of patients.

If a highly contagious and lethal airborne pathogen like the 1918 influenza were to take

hold today, nearly 33 million people worldwide would die in just six months, Gates noted

in his prepared remarks, citing a simulation done by the Institute for Disease Modeling,

a research organization in Bellevue, Wash.

So what should the US do according to Gates: the nation needs to prioritize the development

of better vaccines - including a "universal" flu vaccine - and other treatments as well

as new diagnostic capabilities to help doctors detect and identify a pandemic before it has

the opportunity to spread, according to the Microsoft founder.

In those remarks, Gates highlighted scientific and technical advances in the development

of better vaccines, drugs and diagnostics that he said could revolutionize how we prepare

for and treat infectious diseases moving forward.

He praised last years formation of a new global coalition, known as CEPI, to create

new vaccines for emerging infectious diseases.

He also announced a $12 million Grand Challenge in partnership with the family of Google Inc.

co-founder Larry Page to accelerate the development of a universal flu vaccine.

But vaccines, he noted, take time to research, deploy and generate protective immunity.

"So we need to invest in other approaches, like antiviral drugs and antibody therapies

that can be stockpiled or rapidly manufactured to stop the spread of pandemic diseases or

treat people who have been exposed," he said in his speech.

Among the advances in these areas are a new influenza antiviral recently approved in Japan

that Gates said "stops the virus in its tracks" by inhibiting an enzyme it needs to multiply;

research on antibodies that could protect against a pandemic strain of a virus; and

a diagnostic test that harnesses the powerful genetic-engineering technology known as CRISPR

and has the field-use potential to check a patients blood, saliva or urine for evidence

of multiple pathogens.

That test could, for example, identify whether someone is infected with Zika or dengue virus,

which have similar symptoms.

But even the most cutting-edge remedies are useless without a plan to deploy them, something

Gates says the Trump administration recognizes.

Trump and senior administration officials have affirmed the importance of controlling

infectious disease outbreaks.

But the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is facing a loss of emergency funding provided

in the wake of the 2014 Ebola epidemic and has begun to dramatically downsize its epidemic-prevention

activities in 39 out of 49 countries where disease risks are greatest.

Congress provided additional funding in last months spending bill.

But it also directed the administration to come up with a comprehensive plan to strengthen

global health security at home and abroad.

"This could be an important first step if the White House and Congress use the opportunity

to articulate and embrace a leadership role for the U.S.," Gates said in the speech.

No other country, he noted, has the depth of scientific or technical expertise that

the United States possesses, drawing on the resources of institutions such as NIH, CDC

and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, as well as the Defense Department's

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

While Gates's sense of urgency is admirable, other experts on the likelihood of a global

pandemic emerging in the relatively near future make Gates look like a Walt Disney-level optimist.

"We know that it is coming, but we have no way of stopping it," said WHO infectious disease

specialist Dr. Sylvie Brand.

If you haven't already, now would probably be as good a time as any to invest in some

surgical masks.

Unless of course Elon Musk is correct with his own doomsday prediction, and sentient,

AI-capable killer robots have already bought out the entire inventory.
