I didn't even know this when I made the video about the living in the van
yesterday I didn't have any like so for a while our mattress store has been
slowly failing I made a video about it a while back that was concerned but it
just got worse and worse and we are we're always we're like well maybe this
weekend will do really good then we'll turn around
maybe it's the economy maybe that maybe people will get their tax returns later
it's always something we're always like maybe maybe this week will be the week
when it turns around so we slowly slip behind on our lease you know over a
period of six months we got a month behind and now we're at a point where we
just can't recover and we're having to close our mattress store by the time you
see this video I will have told the people the people that work for me that
Friday we won't be in business anymore and we would have given them a longer
notice but the people that owned the building that we lease are like hey guys
if you don't pay us you we're gonna lock you out on Friday and literally I
literally we don't have a mine even even our literally even our personal selves
can't pay them so basically we're screwed
but you know there's always the next thing and the mattress store has been
really stressful since I don't know November December things start to slow
down in the winter and it never really picked back up
tax season was like really a bust most the time tax season we would make a
surplus of thousands and thousands of dollars this year we never even really
caught up on rent so you know that's that's what's going on and I'm pretty
freaked out about it but honestly the place I live is so inexpensive that I
can play in the band and cover my rent look then that includes my electricity
because and water and water we live in a housing co-op so if any of you guys live
in like a building co-op or anything or housing co-op and you know I'm talking
about so you know I'm not going to not going to go homeless although we
might go like oh I'll live on partners yeah although we might go yet you
weren't gonna show me Amanda yeah okay everybody so we might yeah
Michael homeless on purpose one of the main reasons we didn't travel you know
are one of the main reasons we probably haven't already tried to take off and
travel is because of the mattress store you know we're dedicated to the family
and the family homes are family-owned obligations so maybe that's something we
might sell everything now and travel I was thinking we're going to wait till
next spring and go through another tax season like I would say and how we're
always counting on that count on that next thing or thinking that next thing
is going to be the one you know that's how it is in business you know you a lot
of when your business begins to to fail you start you start grasping at straws I
don't like that phrase but you start grasping at straws and thinking well
this next thing is going to be the thing that turns it around this next type of
advertising is anything it turns it around or you know and it sometimes
things help a little bit yeah you try it you try your best you
try your best to do what you know to do in your situation and and you get you've
that and now you had a little you were going a lot better did you hear me
rewind though you did rewind you try you try your best to you know you try each
thing and some things work but then it's not enough you know that's we've had a
lot of things we've tried within the last six or eight months
that have helped but not not fix not fix the problem so the plan is we're closing
well the plan the plan was these marks are tough the plan was that we were
going to keep doing what we were doing and work our deals with the with the
landlady and and work out a way to smoothly transition to another store but
the choice got taken from us so now we're going to make do do the best we
can to sell off everything we can save our best display mouths and open up
another store as soon as possible if that doesn't play out then you know we
might actually hit the road which is really exciting and I really I'm trying
to say on the optimistic side of things because I've been on a path of doing
that and I don't know if y'all follow me on Instagram you've probably seen some
stuff so you might know but I'm choosing to take the positive side the sunny side
of life and and make the best because I always know no matter what I'm capable
of doing anything he's capable of doing anything and we together can do anything
together that's fact I feel the same so short story long story short so long
story short our last deliveries are going to go out on Wednesday and
Thursday or Friday we won't go to work anymore it sounds really crazy to say
out loud smack I feel like I'm going on summer vacation every time I'm trying to
give it that feeling like I got to quit my job but I didn't get the choice no
but it's like you got to quit your job except you don't have any money but the
hardest part of it is it's not just like I lost my job the whole family lost
their job so everybody wants to figure out what's next well not really
everybody my parents are on Social Security yeah okay they live on a fixed
income and they they're they're going to be fine they're going to lose their
extra money basically but the plan is to open another store right away like two
weeks from now we should be opening the doors to a smaller location with really
low rent which is something we needed to do for so long but every week we're like
well we can make this rent one more time we can pay at least one more time here
so we'll do that and we'll go another month and two weeks later it's payroll
we make payroll or like alright we make payroll can we get there can we get the
link can we get the Rhett together one more time
yeah maybe no not this time we're a week late she let us pay no problem all right
can we go one more week let's try that advertising let's do this let's do that
you just keep on trying you know but finally it's over so yeah as of I'd say
Friday we won't be going to work maybe even Thursday and Wednesday our final
deliveries go out now you might be asking why don't you
take a loan or something like that that's a possibility but then you're
still deeper in the hole so we have to we had to wear our option good and I
like that let's say this even if we took a loan to pay off what we are late even
if we took a loan to pay off what we owe on the lease our lease is so high that
we can't seem to stay in business where we're at and each each like every year
our lease has gone up substantially like a thousand dollars and it's really high
now and we're you know and we're just we've been trying to make it work but
it's so yeah I've been stressed out for a long time that it hasn't shown in the
vlogs too much a little bit when I watch them sometimes I can see it you know so
I think once this is all over once we figure out you know once we go to the
next few days I'll have a little bit of weight off my shoulders but the new way
it will be getting money because up until now I've had an easy way to get
money and now I'm going to figure out how to get money again
so that's willing to be figuring out how to get the next door open or do the next
thing I do you know so just got back to the mattress store again had to go do
some stuff because there's some other things we have to take care of in the
morning and I forgot to do it earlier so it was like 11:30 and I realized like
I'm gonna have to go back so we took the dogs with us we've never taken the dog
to the mattress store and all the years we've worked there it sounds pretty fun
we didn't let them get on the mattresses though because we're still probably
going to have another mattress store and if not we're still going to sell the
mattresses so I don't know who'd be weird up with the dogs on them they
didn't even try to go they really didn't even try to get on them but it was
interesting you could see that they smelled the different places where we
sit and it's like they could tell that it's somewhere where we were at but they
had never been those need but jazzy gets nervous and car rides so we're gonna try
to get her more used to that anyway anyway it was pretty fun it was a
nice little midnight adventure so we unloaded more of the stuff we
brought home I'll show you that real quick so bass amp bongos fan thanks bass
box of personal items keepsakes things we had on our shelves also um there's
there is relief and and I'm remaining optimistic I feel like this is just part
of the next stage and here we go on our new adventure
we're in ideal weather whenever we get it whether we stay in town and get into
the Metro store open or sell everything off as fast as we can hit the road that
wasn't my plan I was thinking we're gonna take some time and yeah whatever
it is though whatever the future holds it's going to be awesome whatever it is
I'm going to make videos of it that's for sure
so I'm Restless but it's like 2:00 a.m. and I've gotta get some oh sorry you
want a shot and then some Rhett I'm Restless but it's like we got this we
got this with got this al Charlie tell him um
wrestles again so I'm like Restless but super twice he's young and restless okay
mom is a fox just let me just get this one time some like Restless but tired
all the same time it's been a long hard day mentally and actually we move some
stuff so I'm going to try and get some sleep now try to close my eyes and fall
sleep anyway I'm very snag as Amanda thanks for watching
