Nasa's Curiosity rover has snapped a photo of a mysterious object on the surface of Mars,

which conspiracy theorists believe could be evidence of aliens.

The high-definition image appears to show the object glinting against Mars' rocky landscape.

While many people believe that the object is made by aliens, others have suggested that

it is merely the rover's own entry debris.

The image was taken in March, but was posted on Reddit this week, sparking a huge online

debate about what it shows.

Prosaic Origin, the Reddit user who posted the image, wrote: 'Uh Nasa?

UFO caught on Mars Rover mission?

Is this real?'

His post has received 79 replies, many of which back up his thoughts that it could be

aliens.

EdisonVonneZula said: 'Looks like light glimmering off of a genuine spaceship on an alien planet

in outer space.'

And Crazylegs99 wrote: 'They forgot to Photoshop that one out.

Love how skeptical the mods are.

'You could have aliens waving hi through the windshield and it would be flagged as a likely

prosaic.'

But not everyone is convinced.

OnceReturned suggested the image could merely show debris from the rover's landing craft.

The user wrote: 'We know that the Rover was taking pictures of its own entry debris at

that time.

'There's nothing particularly alien about the object in question – it could easily

be entry debris, at least in my opinion.'

And Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual told MailOnline: 'It might look like

a spaceship, but as usual the picture is out-of-focus and there is no guide to tell the viewer how

big or small this object is.

'One explanation is that the object is a piece of debris from the Mars Rover itself or from

its sky crane landing system.

'Unless we get more detailed information this is another case of wishful thinking.'

This isn't the first time that conspiracy theorists have claimed that images taken by

the Curiosity rover show aliens.

Yesterday, alien hunters claimed that the rover had taken images of thigh bones protruding

from the red planet's surface.

The pictures were presented in a video from conspiracy theorist group Martian Archaeology

alongside several other Curiosity images that appear to show 'signs of life'.

These include reported signs of lichen and fungi and other biological life growing on

Mars.

Fans of the video have posted their views in the comment section.

TJ Devereaux wrote: 'After years of research and study, I'm convinced now, more then ever,

that there much more to Mars then what Nasa admits to.

'I'm certain life, including water, and intelligent life forms, once occupied the planet, and...

big leap here... that both still exist, in much smaller quantities.'

And despite leaving unlucky-in-love Montana in tears when he confessed he fancied her best friend Amber, before picking fellow newbie Tyla over her, Simon has revealed that his biggest regret during his time in the ITv2 show has been the way he treated his short-lived love interest.

Tyla and Simon came last, leaving the rest of the Islanders to choose which one of them they wanted to dump from the island.

Discussing his biggest regrets, Simon said: Its quite intense in there and you need to let people know your feelings and there is a big emphasis on being honest.

I feel like I was honest but my only regret is, I wish Id given Montana more time. I think shes a really good girl and we did get along really so thats my regret..

Despite repeatedly saying that he didnt want to rip Montanas clothes off, Simon insists a spark might have blossomed if they had more time together. He explained: It feels like the attraction could have grown into more of a physical one.

The physical attraction wasnt there as much as it was with other people in the villa but the way I got along with Montana, I dont think I could actually get on with a girl more.

She was a lot like myself so it was rubbish really, I would have liked to see where me and Montana could have gone. If I could do it again I would just give my time to Montana fully..

Citing lovebirds Marcel and Gabby as the most likely couple to last outside of the villa, he tipped them for the win - as well as Montana.

Asked who he thought could win, he said: Other than Marcel and Gabby who are a solid couple, I think Montana. She is such a nice a person, whoever gets her would be lucky.

The best thing would be for the right guy to go in there, they both connect and I think she will go all the way definitely.

Simon also offered his insight into close friend Jonnys dilemma over his slow-burning romance with Camilla and his physical attraction for Tyla.

After Jonny made the difficult decision to cool things off with Camilla, he said: He seems good. I think he feels like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders with Camilla.

He genuinely wanted to see where it went with Camilla because she is a lovely person.

Jonny is a really nice guy and on paper they really match up but I think he wanted a bit more excitement when he was in there. Tyla has really caught his eye.

He just wanted to give Tyla a shot. I told him to go for it in the first place, no disrespect to Camilla, I said he should give her a shot.

He didnt look like he was going to take the opportunity so I thought I would end up moving in on Tyla even though I knew Jonny was more Tylas type.

It sort of backfired a bit when Jonny stepped up after I chose her but I always said Id never be in competition with Jonny over anything.

It just unfolded in a way that meant that I got dumped from the Island. It was quite unlucky really..
