is an outdoor fitness park.

A place where people can

So creating a place for our whole community

A look inside a modified for hearing impaired VTECH wireless phone - Duration: 9:57.

Good day!

In this video, I'll disassemble this modified "VTECH" cord-less phone

it was modified by a company named "Audex"

this company seemingly specializes in modifying phones for hearing impaired people

as you can see, there are many modified models... VTECH and UNIDEN

are Panasonics modification unfriendly?

the cheapest starts at US$120

the most expensive one goes for US$300

Externally I can only see an audio jack that, by the looks of it, must have been added by the modifier

this phone doesn't work anymore, I suspect that the battery is dead...

let's proceed to open this thing

the battery seems stuck

the battery is out and it leaked, hopefully the phones innards are not affected

it looks like the battery has been replaced before

I wonder how old is this phone?

only two screws are visible

and then plastic hooks I guess...

finally open

this little board must be added by the modifier...

very interesting, a few pads with labels, this must be modifier friendly

I didn't have luck when trying to find the phone's schematics though...

the green and yellow wires must be for powering the little board

It reads "34119 XFEH"

which happens to be an audio amplifier...

specific for telephone applications

hmmm, over 250mW @ 32 ohm

so, the modification looks very simple at this point

this IC it has a very wide supply voltage range, 2 to 16V

continuing with the tear down...

that metal can seems to be an RF module

so far I can't see any IC that could be the main controller

more plastic hooks

the red and black wires should be the antenna

more screws...

surely this board has the keypad button's contacts on its other face

as you can see, there is some sort of winding...

Ohhh, that is a coiled wire around the speaker,

it has to be a telecoil transmitter

the wire is too thin to easily count how many loops

"telecoil" is a system that transmits sound via a magnetic field directly to a hearing aid or cochlear implant

a telecoil enabled hearing aid would have a tiny pickup coil inside

searching for "telecoil" in DigiKey...

all Iget are pickup coils

these are super tiny, just a few millimeters in every direction

some of these coils are relatively expensive, at US$16

some include filtering

those with three wires need to be powered

seems like the jack is for a headphone, monoaural only

both, the coil and the speaker are connected to the 34119 board, in parallel

before this thought that the speakers alone were sufficient to excite the pickup coils

those red and black wires from the little board are connected to the speaker

the modification looks reasonably clean

but I wonder if the guys at Audex need to re-certify the telephone after doing this

nothing else seems to be modified or added

no searchable codes in this board

that looks like a "macrochip"

the LEDs for the display

perhaps this is the main controller, at least it drives the LCD for sure

none of those codes seem useful to identify the parts online

well, that's it friends, at least my curiosity has been satisfied
