By everybody Max Lucado here with a few thoughts on
Finding a parking place for our problems. It's really one of the great tools for dealing with anxiety
You'll remember that in the Old Testament. There's the great story of Moses leading the children of Israel
Through the wilderness and God provided manna. It's an amazing story
Not just of God's provision, but also of God's timing
do you remember that God provided enough food for the day and
Not enough for the next day with the exception of the Sabbath when the people were encouraged and allowed to collect enough for two days
if they tried to
Over collect on a certain day that manna would spoil before the next day
Is that not a great principle God wants us to depend on him daily and Jesus taught us to pray
Give us this day our daily
Bread would love for God to give us all of our needs a lifetime worth of provisions in one day
But he doesn't work that way but he does call upon us to depend upon him daily
Can I encourage you to lean into him today for?
the needs of today don't get so wound up about tomorrow that you missed the blessings of
tomorrow and today
You do not have what it takes to live tomorrow. You have just enough to live today
the passage from Matthew chapter 6 and verse 34 says
Give your attention
Entirely to what God is doing right now
Don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow
God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes
doesn't each day have its own share of blessings and
Doesn't each day have its own share of burdens
Meet today's blessings with today's gratitude meet today's challenges
With today's strength here two or three ideas that might help you find a parking place
For tomorrow problems just mentally park those things when they surface in your head say, okay
That's a legitimate concern. Maybe you want to write it down
Maybe you want to put it in a journal, but don't over focus on it. You can't solve it until tomorrow so find a
Parking place and then don't over stress your coping skills again
You're trying to download tomorrow's problems with today's strength. Just tell yourself
I'm gonna solve this tomorrow or God's gonna give me strength tomorrow. I'll wait and deal on this tomorrow
I'm not gonna let us steal my sleep. I'm not gonna let it steal my peace. Yes
It's a legitimate concern but every day is a fresh beginning so I will start afresh
tomorrow
Shut the gate on yesterday. Don't touch the gate on tomorrow
This is the day that the Lord hath made
Scripture says so just rejoice and be in it you no longer have yesterday you do not yet have tomorrow
But you do have today so live in it live in it
Let me read you a great quote from George MacDonald. He said no man ever sank under the burden of the day
It's when tomorrow's burden is added to the burden of today that the weight is more than a man can bear
Never load yourself. So my friends if you find yourself
So loaded at least remember this it is your own doing and not God's
He begs you to leave the future to him and to mind the present. Why don't you do that?
I know it's not easy
I don't succeed in that but we can all try right we can all try
Seek first the kingdom of God and all of these things will be handled as well
These are anxious times but they're anxious because we allow our anxiety to get the better of us
You don't have to it is possible to be anxious for nothing
It is possible to live a life that is marked by calm it is
possible to find a life that is not
Character my anxiety and I think that's the kind of life that God wants you to lead. So
Find a parking place for your problems
Don't over stress your coping skills and shut the gate on yesterday and don't touch the gate on tomorrow
This is the day the Lord has made
You just rejoice and be glad in it. Okay. Have a great day. So we'll talk soon
Let's keep talking about how we can be anxious for nothing
