5 Foods for Healthier Blood and a Happy Body

How can you improve the quality of your blood and have healthier blood all around? Let's start with the definition of blood, which is a liquid connective tissue which circulates through capillaries, veins, arteries, atria, and ventricles of all vertebrates.

The red colour is caused by the presence of a haemoglobin pigment contained in erythrocytes.

Its consistency is dense, opaque, and flavoured with metal.

However, the colour can vary: from scarlet, which is a sign of a high oxygen level, to dark red, which low in oxygen.

The average pH of blood is 7.35 to 7.45.

The temperature of blood is 38 °C – slightly higher than body temperature.

What does healthy blood carry?.

Nutrients. Hormones. Antibodies. Oxygen.

Carbon Dioxide. Electrolytes.

Vitamins. Heat.

Where is it made?.

Blood cells are produced in the bone marrow which is the spongy tissue found inside some bones of the body such as the hip bone, the sternum, or the bones in the skull.

The human body contains approximately 4.5 to 6 litres of blood.

55% of blood is plasma, the liquid part composed of water, mineral salts, and proteins, whilst the remaining 45% is made up of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.

How can I begin a healthy diet?.

Eat non-starchy vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, and spinach.

It's recommended that you reduce your intake of potatoes, but don't cut them out altogether.

Look for healthy proteins such as lean meats, chicken, turkey, and fish.

Avoid eating red meat, especially, processed meats such as bacon or sausages.

Whole foods are good choices.

Rice, pasta, and wholemeal bread are healthier than white rice because of their fibre content.

AS a result, blood sugar levels rise slowly and give us a feeling of fullness.

Use vegetable oils.

Olive oil or canola oil are good options for seasoning.

On the other hand, avoid using butter because it contains too much saturated fat.

Avoid sugary drinks such as juices, soft drinks, or iced tea.

The best thing to do is to prepare some water with a touch of fruit.

Vitamin E: important for the most resistant red blood cells.

Iodine: contributes to the production of red blood cells and platelets.

Egg.

As long as you're not allergic or intolerant to egg, you should always include it in your diet.

It's a great source of proteins, minerals, and vitamins for healthier blood.

In the yolk, in particular, you'll find lecithin which is responsible for cleaning the fat in the arteries.

Additionally, it contains choline which improves the nervous system.

It provides vitamin A, D and E, as well as minerals such as iron, zinc, selenium, phosphorus, and folic acid.

And, all of these are essential for healthier blood and a healthy body.

Vegetables.

These are great for people who don't eat meat, because they help to balance the intake of nutrients because of their high protein content.

Dustin and Sierra were expecting a baby boy.

They were going to name him Bentley.

But shortly after they found out they were

expecting, during one of the exams,

the doctor told them there was something wrong

with the baby inside, insider her womb.

Bentley had something called encephalocele ,

which is a very rare condition in which

the baby's brain is growing on the outside of the skull.

The doctors told them there was

no way to address it while the baby

was in the womb or after the baby came

outside of the womb. And even worse,

they told them that there was no way

that a child could live outside

of the womb with this condition.

And so when Bentley was born,

the nurses, they didn't bathe him.

They didn't weigh him.

They didn't do anything.

In fact,

Dustin and Sierra didn't even buy any baby supplies

for their baby except

for just one thing, one little onesie

that they were going to bury their baby boy in.

But when Bentley was born,

he didn't die.

He kept living.

The doctors told them not to get too optimistic,

that this wasn't going to go on for very long.

But Bentley kept on living

for a couple of months until Dustin and Sierra

met a doctor named Dr. Meara,

who told them something that so far,

no one had told them up to that point.

That there was a way for Bentley

to keep on living.

Dr. Meara had invented a surgery

in which he would

cut open the baby's skull

and peel those pieces back like the petals of a flower.

And then take the brain

that was outside the skull,

reposition it inside and then tie everything

back together again and close everything up

real nicely once that was done.

And that's what he did.

And because he did, do you know what happened?

Bentley lived.

And he's still living.

He's doing fine.

Dustin and Sierra and Bentley

had no ability to control anything,

and yet they ended up with everything

for which they were hoping.

There are so many things in life that can

make us feel like Dustin and Sierra did as

they were waiting for that surgery to happen.

And God knows how hard those moments are.

Remember there was a day when God

had to wait, too.

A day when it didn't look like

anything good could ever really happen.

A day when God was holding

nothing in his hands and wearing nothing

on his back except

the sins of a whole world

that needed to be paid for and forgiven.

A day when God allowed

the vulnerable parts of his skin

to be sliced open so that we,

who get so worried

that our lives will not end well

or afraid that they don't mean anything

could see exactly how much our lives mean

to God and

live with the truth that nothing in all creation

is going to stop us from one day

experiencing the best ending of all,

when God will wipe every tear away in heaven.

And that's not the only truth

we get to live with as Christians.

There's also the truth

that Jesus shared with us in Matthew, chapter 6,

that we don't need to worry about anything,

that if God cares so perfectly

for the birds of the air and

the grass of the field,

how much more is he going to provide everything

that is needed for the crown of his creation?

And then there's the truth we find in

Romans, chapter 8, that all things in life,

even the things that don't quite go the way that

you were expecting are working together

with God

for your good.

And if that's true,

that our lives are going to end well,

that we'll always have everything we need,

and that everything in life

is always working together for your benefit,

you know what that means?

It means you don't need to spend one more moment

worrying about whether or not you

may one day love a version of

life that you may never gain.

You can simply eat,

drink and work today,

loving the life that you've already been given.

That's what Solomon means in the book Ecclesiastes

when he says this, that there's

Enjoyment.

Friends, there's so much good scripture

out there that gives us encouragement

as we wade through the troubles of life.

We mentioned a few of those scriptures

in today's devotion.

through the different things that you deal with,

we can encourage one another with

the word of God and keep the encouragement

In Texas, A Summer Job That Helps Provide Temporary Refuge For Migrants

When I arrived at Casa Vides, I found a nondescript two-story brick building close enough to the border that you could walk to it.

This is a place that provides refuge for two types of people: those who evaded border patrol and those who were caught, handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and then released while their cases are still pending.

Casa Vides provides food, shelter and legal support to up to 40 people at a time.

It's run by the faith-based nonprofit, Annunciation House.

"My mom is an immigrant from South America so this issue has always been close to my heart," says Daniel Rottenborn, a 19-year-old volunteering for the summer.

He and 20-year-old volunteer Francis Brockman are both students at University of Notre Dame.

"For me," Brockman says, "I've taken a lot of Spanish classes and so I wanted to put that to use and just the situation with immigration today, like, the political climate.

It was something that I wanted to explore and learn more about.

So I feel like coming to the border was a pretty obvious choice.".

At this shelter, there are families and a number of teens — and that's an interesting experience for a young volunteer like Brockman.

"Sometimes there will be people that come into the house that are 19 or 20, like around our age, and they'll already have kids with them," Brockman says.

"So that's just an entirely different situation that I cannot even imagine at this point my life.".

Casa Vides said we couldn't talk to any of the residents.

But Brockman and Rottenborn have heard from teens here — some of whom crossed illegally instead of through a port of entry – about fleeing all kinds of violence on their journeys.

What little they say, says a lot.

"You see this 16-year-old kid," Rottenborn says.

"He's with his family.

You know, he has a bed, he has food for the first time in a while.

And he's just sitting there quiet.

It strikes me is vastly different than the experience of a normal American teenager.".

Brockman and Rottenborn could have gotten more typical summer jobs.

Brockman says his other option was working at a bagel shop back home in Ohio.

The two are living at Casa Vides sharing a room adjacent to the migrants' rooms.

They spend their time doing chores from cooking to cleaning to organizing games.

"Along this wall here, we have more stuff for babies," Brockman says.

"We have a room full of sheets, dry goods, medicine.".

"Yeah, we have a closet full of cleaning supplies, baby diapers, sanitary products, all of the hygiene and health-oriented stuff as well," Rotterborn adds.

Rotterborn says he and Brockman aren't trained on how to work with babies and children.

The shelter's goal is to promote independence and allow parents to do what they do best, parent.

"The resiliency that we see from these kids when they come into our house, and they start playing with the toys, and immediately, it's like that, you flip a switch, and they go from scared kids hiding behind their parents to just kids," Rotterborn says.

This past weekend, a bus pulled up and 32 undocumented parents got off.

With a few small belongings, including papers, they quietly walked into Casa Vides, greeted by staff with hugs.

The parents had been separated from their children at the border.

Their criminal cases were dropped after Trump reversed his policy on family separation.

Casa Vides tells migrants they can stay at the shelter as long as they want.

Many will connect with family members in the U.S.

and move out to live with them while they wait for their day in court.

Over 100 South Koreans leave for North Korea for inter-Korean basketball games - Duration: 2:10.

A large group of South Korea basketball players and government officials left for Pyongyang

on Tuesday morning, to take part a series of inter-Korean basketball games set for Wednesday

and Thursday.

The group includes....

Seoul's unification minister who could meet with the North Korean leader himself during

his visit.

Oh Jung-hee has more.

A group of over 100 South Koreans left for the North Korean capital on Tuesday morning.

This... for the 'South-North unification basketball games' scheduled to take place on Wednesday

and Thursday... as agreed at inter-Korean sports talks held in June.

The group includes five senior government officials, 50 male and female basketball players,

30 members of the press, 15 support staff, and one court announcer.

Seoul's Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon, who's heading the group, expressed anticipation...

about his first visit to Pyongyang in eleven years.

"I'm leaving to watch the first inter-Korean basketball games in 15 years.

I hope the games become a chance for us to make progress towards peace on the Korean

Peninsula."

As the female basketball players from both sides of the border are to form a unified

team for the upcoming Asian Games in August,... it's not all fun and games for South Korea's

basketball coaches and authorities.

They're eager to see the standard of the North Korean players and assess how well the two

sides can gel together.

"Because we need to form a unified team, I will focus on figuring out how well the North

Korean players play.

Also, this game has the word 'unification' in it.

I hope this event becomes an annual event and contributes to our unification."

The two Koreas will play four games in total -- two games each on Wednesday and Thursday.

National flags or anthems won't be used.

It's believed Seoul's unification minister could meet various senior figures in Pyongyang

on the sidelines of the games, including leader Kim Jong-un.

The group will fly back to Seoul on Friday.
