Why Fight for Free Speech? | National Geographic Nordic - Duration: 1:54.

You are a result of your environment.

My art is like it is because I grew up in a society where

you can say what you want and have the freedom to express yourself.

In Denmark, you are encouraged to have your own opinions

and express them, even in the school systems.

I believe that as a tradition or value and so it becomes natural to express yourself.

I made a mural on Danish Identity, which grew from "Dansk-hed".

At that time, I made it as a reaction to right wing parties gaining more power

in Denmark and around Europe.

So I believe I'm very affected by what happens in politics.

In the Nordic there aren't as many limitations for what you can say and paint,

which comes to show through the different street artist.

When you've always had this kind of freedom, it's difficult to notice it.

That must be a common denominator for the Nordics.

Duduzane Zuma summonsed to court for taxi deaths - Duration: 2:49.

Duduzane Zuma summonsed to court for taxi deaths

Duduzane Zuma summonsed to court for taxi deaths.

Former president Jacob Zuma's son Duduzane has been ordered to appear in court on July 12 to face two charges culpable homicide related to a 2014 car accident.

Duduzane Zuma's lawyer Gary Mazaham confirmed that he had received the summons‚ but said he was not in a position to comment on whether Zuma would appear at the Randburg Magistrate's Court.

"At this time‚ I have no instructions on that‚" he said‚ "Personally‚ I can see no reason why he should not appear." Confirmation of the summons issued against Zuma – for culpable homicide and alternatively reckless driving – comes as his family announced late on Sunday that his younger brother Vusi had died after a short illness.

It remains unclear whether Zuma‚ who Mazaham confirmed is currently not in the country‚ will attend his younger brother's funeral.

Zuma has been charged over the deaths of two minibus taxi passengers.

Phumzile Dube was killed in February 2014 after his Porsche collided with the taxi in which she was travelling.

Her fellow passenger Nanki Jeanette Mashaba‚ who was injured in the accident‚ reportedly died in hospital a few weeks after the crash.

In August 2015‚ the NPA decided not to prosecute the former president's son‚ despite Magistrate Lalitha Chetty finding‚ during a formal judicial inquest into the death‚ that there was prima facie evidence that Dube's death had been caused by the younger Zuma's negligent actions.

But‚ after AfriForum and former prosecutor Gertie Nel announced that they intended to pursue a private prosecution against Zuma‚ the state reconsidered that decision‚ and sought representations from Zuma on why he should not face charges.

The National Prosecuting Authority has now confirmed that Zuma has been summonsed to appear in court.

Should he fail to do so‚ a warrant of arrest may be issued against him.

Don't Touch! A Scientist's Advice For Spotting Poison Ivy Before It Ruins Your Summer - Duration: 9:24.

Don't Touch! A Scientist's Advice For Spotting Poison Ivy Before It Ruins Your Summer

It was a close encounter in 2012 that made microbiologist John Jelesko take an interest in poison ivy.

The Virginia Tech professor was cutting up a downed tree with an electric chainsaw.

What he didn't realize was that his power cable had been dragging through poison ivy.

So at the end of the day, as he coiled the cord around his palm and elbow, he inadvertently launched a career-bending science experiment.

"Within 48 hours, I had your classic case of poison ivy on my arm.

And as a scientist, I said, 'This is interesting, how bad can it be? I'll just leave this untreated,' " he recalls, sheepishly.

"In about two weeks, I had learned just how uncomfortable poison ivy rash could be.".

Uncomfortable sounds like an understatement.

Jelesko says he barely slept while fighting the urge to "claw my itching flesh off." Eventually, he went to his family doctor, who prescribed oral steroids.

The experience sparked years of research into a plant he calls a "familiar stranger." He has studied the chemical, urushiol, that triggers that tell-tale rash, and the plant's biology overall.

The tricky thing about avoiding poison ivy, Jelesko says, is the plant is highly adaptable and can take many different forms in different environments.

"It's remarkable," he says, with a laugh.

"There's just an enormous amount of things with this plant that are currently unknown.".

Here he offers insights into how to recognize Toxicodendron radicans (the plant's scientific name) before you risk touching it — and what to do when it's too late.

Know the leaf shapes.

The axiom, "leaves of three, let it be," is accurate, says Jelesko, but those leaves can come in many shapes, even on the same plant.

You're safe if the plant has thorns — poison ivy doesn't, but it does sometimes have little pale green berries.

Can You Recognize This Leaf? All four of these leaves are the same pesky plant.

Poison ivy leaves can have smooth, jagged or lobed edges.

Same plant, many forms.

Another tricky feature of the species that can trip up passers-by: Poison ivy plants can grow in many shapes and sizes.

When mature vines climb up a tree, their shape can even mimic that of the host tree.

Simply pushing aside an innocent-seeming branch could make you pay a few days later when the rash begins to well up.

Jelesko's latest research, which is not yet published, finds that, in cities, poison ivy tends to grow as a climbing vine, whereas out in the forest, most of the plants are ground-creeping vines.

And poison ivy is much more prevalent in "landscapes modified by humans" than out in the middle of the woods.

Bush, vine or tree? Poison ivy can look deceptively like other plant forms.

Learn to recognize it no matter what shape it takes.

What to do when the tricky plant wins.

If you think you've touched a plant, or unfortunately know you have, follow these tips to alleviate the problem.

Of course, prevention is the best route.

John Jelesko now dons a Tyvek suit and two pairs of gloves when he's wallowing in poison ivy.

If you even suspect you brushed up against the plant, wash with soap and water within a few hours.

This tends to prevent an outbreak in most people.

To confirm you touched poison ivy, you can try what's known as the "black dot test" — but proceed with caution! With gloved hands, tear the leaf in half, put the sap on a piece of white paper.

If it's poison ivy, the urushiol oil will turn black in 30 minutes.

This is the same reason black dots appear on some of the plants.

Keep an eye out for a streaky, red rash in the first few days, especially if you've had a poison ivy reaction before.

For poison ivy newbies, the rash could take a week to develop.

Repeat customers can start breaking out in a day or two.

Rather than building immunity, multiple exposures can make someone more sensitive, priming the immune system to produce a more "robust" response, Jelesko says.

When a rash appears, dermatologists recommend soothing it with anti-itch or corticosteroid cream.

And if it gets really bad, go to the doctor, especially if the rash involves sensitive areas like the mouth or genitals.

Steroids and anti-itch medicine don't always solve the whole problem and medicine has little else to offer.

(If you're still in agony, cold compresses or a bath with oatmeal may help soothe your skin.) But more medical help may be on the way: Scientists are in early days of exploring new treatments.

A researcher at Duke University found that part of the body's response involves an inflammatory protein "exciting" the nerve fibers in the skin and sending itchy signals to the brain.

An antibody that counteracts the protein is currently in a clinical trial with humans.

If your pup came along with you on the outing that exposed you to poison ivy, never fear.

Dogs are not allergic — but their fur can definitely hold the oil and transfer it to their owner, so have care with petting your dog after hiking past poison ivy.

Scientists haven't found many animals that break out like humans do, though lab mice seem to be allergic enough for research.

And just in case you weren't disturbed enough by the proliferation of this itch-inducing vine, behold and be amazed by this king of the forest, a vine that's truly awe-inspiring in size.

Happy hiking!.

Struggling Farmers Turn Excess Milk Into Cheese And Yogurt For The Hungry - Duration: 9:51.

Struggling Farmers Turn Excess Milk Into Cheese And Yogurt For The Hungry

On a beautiful sunny day recently in south Lancaster County, Pa., farmer Abner Stolztfus and seven of his eight children were inside, bottling yogurt in a room next to the barn.

"The younger one is only 2 months old, so she's not working out here yet," he said, laughing.

Stolztfus and his family own Cedar Dream dairy farm in the town of Peach Bottom in southeast Pennsylvania.

He and his kids milk 50 cows twice a day — at 5 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon.

His family has been farming for generations.

"I learned milking cows before I started going to school," he said.

But yogurt is a whole new business for him.

Dairy farmers like Stolztfus have been struggling financially during the past few years.

While new technologies have allowed farms to produce more milk, fewer people are consuming it.

That's causing milk prices to plummet and creating a surplus that often ends up going to waste.

According to the Center for Dairy Excellence, Pennsylvania lost 120 dairy farms in 2016.

In that same year, dairy farmers across the country dumped 43 million gallons of excess milk.

So last year, Stolztfus decided to invest almost $200,000 in equipment and learned how to make yogurt from scratch.

Today, he produces about 3,000 pounds of milk and yogurt a week.

His No.

1 seller is drinkable yogurt, a light but creamy, all-natural yogurt.

Things were not easy at the beginning, though.

With an upset market, he struggled to find customers until an unlikely client emerged: Philabundance, the local nonprofit that turns food waste into donations.

Forty percent of all food produced in the United States ends up in landfills.

Yet in Philadelphia, 1 in 5 residents doesn't have enough to eat.

To combat waste and help feed hungry people, Philabundance is rescuing perfectly good milk that was going to be dumped to make cheese and yogurt for families in need.

In the process, it helps farmers like Stolztfus.

"We are testing out a new model with him where we work with another farmer to source excess skim milk from his butter production," said Kait Bowdler, director of sustainability at Philabundance.

"Every time you produce butter, there's the whey and the skim that's left over, and a lot of that ends up being thrown out.".

Skim milk can be processed into other products, such as cheese or yogurt.

But because dairy farmers are struggling, they are left with no money to pay for that processing and end up dumping it.

The same happens with other types of milk.

"Think about it: Cows still produce the same amount of milk no matter what you use it for, and if a co-op says that you can only produce a certain amount or that they can buy a certain amount, you end up having to throw that out," Bowdler said.

Last year, food banks statewide came up with an idea.

Using funding from the Pennsylvania Agricultural Surplus System and donations from the dairy industry, they got 12 tanker loads of surplus milk that a local co-op was going to dump.

(Milk-transport trucks can hold anywhere from 5,000 to 8,000 gallons.) They took the rescued milk to local cheesemakers and made thousands of pounds to give away free at food pantries and shelters.

For farmers, it meant total revenue of $165,000.

Philabundance purchased 27,680 pounds of that cheese for donations, but then took the idea one step further.

It bought more milk to make more of the same cheese, this time to sell in fancy food stores in Philadelphia, under the brand Abundantly Good.

For every pound of cheese sold, $1 goes back to the farmer to process milk into free cheese for hungry people.

Giving people in need food of the same high quality as that sold in gourmet stores is what the whole program is really about, Bowdler said.

"It's rebellious in a way, it's saying that people who are poor don't just need to take whatever you give them — we can give them a better product," she said.

According to Philabundance, in a year farmers have received $9,000 from retail sales — the equivalent of selling 18,000 half-pound units.

That has allowed them to produce 3,500 pounds of cheese for donations.

Because the program is a success, the organization is testing out a new product: excess skim-milk yogurt.

Stolztfus said leftover skim milk by itself looks and tastes like colored water.

But with the right equipment and ingredients, it can be transformed into yogurt.

"We pump the skim milk in there [the pasteurizing tank], we heat it up, to about 108 degrees, and we add the culture.

We let it incubate for 12 hours, and we stir it back up, add the flavoring, sugars, and mix it up good, and that creates the yogurt," he explained while overseeing bottling of the product.

At the end of the day, Stolztfus transforms 4,500 pounds of skim milk that might have become waste into 4,500 pints of drinkable vanilla yogurt for people in need.

"It's a very good way to get people drinking more milk, getting dairy in them.

," Stolztfus said, "It's a very good feeling, it makes me feel really good.

And it helps him pay his bills.

For now, Philabundance is paying Stolztfus to process the excess skim milk from butter production into both drinkable and spoonable yogurt.

But if the Abundantly Good program grows, the organization will try to sell the yogurt in stores, and have the retail sales pay for food donations.

In July, a new retail product will debut: spiced tomato jam.

Proceeds from sales of the jam, produced in collaboration with TBJ Gourmet, will go to provide tomato sauce and soup donations for people in need.

✅ Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner 'doing it for years', claims Outnumbered's Ben - Duration: 2:53.

Outnumbered stars Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner have been "doing it for years", their on-screen son has claimed - and they're very happy

While sources close to both stars - who played Pete and Sue Brockman in the BBC comedy series about two exhausted parents struggling to raise their three chenging children - have said they've been dating for a year, Daniel Roche claimed they've been together far longer than that

The 1-year-old star, who played middle child Ben in the show, told fans in an Instagram Story: "They've been doing it for years, they've been going out for years

"They are together, they're having a good time. It's nice," he added.  Hugh himself confirmed the rumours over the weekend, revealing: "I am very, very happy, we are so very happy

It's nice and yes, it's so lovely."  It's thought the pair, who were both previously married, have been living together in Hugh's £1

2million London penthouse flat and were only telling select friends and family about their romance.  Hugh, 56, was previously with wife Kate Abbot-Anderson and has two children, Freddie, 21, and 19-year-old Meg with her

They split in 2015 and have been separated ever since.  Claire, meanwhile, was married to TV director Charles Palmer for 15 years and has teenage sons William and Henry with him

They split in 2016.   A friend told The Sun : "They were going through marriage breakdowns at very similar times, but it was quite a while after their separations that they got together last year

"  Hugh's daughter Meg, however, didn't seem too impressed.   "I am aware of what has happened," she told the Daily Mail

"My mother does not want to talk about it. Neither do I."  Award-winning Outnumbered ran for seven years from 2007, and launched the careers of children Tyger Drew-Honey (eldest son Jake), Daniel and Ramona Marquez, who played Karen

Mirror Online has contacted reps for Hugh and Claire for comment.
