Quick Tip 07: Basic Color Correction for Cinematics [TUTORIAL] - Duration: 5:38.

Hello there guys and girls,

welcome to another quick tip.

This time we will talk about a topic that has been requested a lot by my viewers: Color

grading.

Well, and I do have to make a distinction here.

We're actually gonna talk about basic color correction.

You will learn how to optimize the footage from GTA in your video editing software for

more impact.

Color grading is an entire science in itself and there are tons of in-depth tutorials about

this on YouTube.

It really doesn't matter if you're using real life footage or ingame footage for this.

Also, if you don't have a calibrated grading monitor, it's really hard to achieve a universally

satisfying result anyway.

If you wanna get started with color grading, you should definitely use the free plugin

DaVinci Resolve for your editing software as it's beginner friendly and very potent

– check out Danny Fungus' channel as he invests a lot of thought into his color grading

for machinima.

Now, let's dive into the actual topic.

I'm gonna show you these techniques using Adobe Premiere Pro.

First of all I recommend you to render your footage with the mod "Extended Video Export"

for better video quality.

I've created a tutorial about how to use it a while back.

Check it out if you haven't yet.

Once you have rendered your footage and imported it into your video editor, it's time to

do the color correction – NOT.

In my opinion it's best to do all the editing first – that includes audio design like

I've shown in the previous quick tip.

That's because in Premiere you can then use adjustment layers.

So instead of applying color correction and video effects to every little bit of footage,

you only have to do that step once and then you can change the length of the effects by

clipping or extending this adjustment layer.

It's practical if you have a scene change for instance because you can make a cut and

easily create a different set of adjustments for another scene.

The next part is highly opinionated since this is the way I like to do it.

You gotta find your own way based on the advice I'm giving you, since color in movies is

very subjective.

What I usually do is to go to the effects panel and put the lumetri-color effect onto

the adjustment layer.

Also I like to use unsharp mask and grain for this so I'll drag and drop those onto

the same layer, too.

Then you can switch up into the effects settings and you should see all the effects you just

dragged in.

Let's start with the quick ones.

The footage from GTA usually comes out a bit muddy, even if it has a resolution of Full

HD and is rendered with EVE.

The unsharp mask makes your images look a little more crisp but you must not overdo

it with these values.

I usually go for 50 to 75 in strength and increase the radius to 1,5 or 2 maximum.

This is enough to give the GTA footage a much more realistic and sharp look.

Next up is the grain.

Real life film usually has some amount of grain, especially older movies shot on film

rolls.

But that's a topic in itself again.

I just like to apply a very tiny amount of grain to my footage because this extra layer

kinda glues all the elements in a shot together if that makes any sense.

It's enough to use an intensity of 3 to five percent.

Uncheck the box to use "color grain" though.

What you want here is monochromatic grain.

The effect is super subtle, but it gives the cinematics a more realistic and even grim

look if you turn up the value higher.

And now let's get to the lumetri-color.

Obviously my menu is in german here but I'll try to name everything correctly.

A very interesting slider is white balance | temperature.

This will allow you to quickly change the look of a shot.

So if you wanna do a night time shot or something in cold weather, literally turn down the temperature

here to make the image more blueish.

The same applies for hot weather and the desert.

Just turn it up.

Even if it's a regular shot I'd advise you to make the image a little warmer because

the GTA footage tends to be rendered a little blueish by default.

The next section is called "color" and it allows you to adjust the lighting.

I like to turn this value up by point five or 1 to brighten things up and make them look

a little more polished.

You can also increase the contrast by around 50 because the GTA footage tends to look really

flat.

Also I like to play around with the highlights and shadows, usually I turn the shadows down

a little bit to make the shot look richer.

Last but not least there's the saturation slider.

If you wanna show a happy bubbly situation feel free to bump the saturation up a little

to make the colors more vivid.

A grim cinematic could very well do with a saturation of 85 to 90 to make everything

look greyish and sad.

As you can see the lumetri-color panel offers a lot more dials and values to manipulate.

But let's just compare what we've achieved so far.

I think even by doing so very little we achieved a massive improvement on the original footage,

kinda like someone who restores old paintings.

No, not like that.

You know what I mean.

Now slap a letterbox on that shit like I've shown you in part two of this series and voilá!

There's a million views waiting for you right there.

The most important lesson about color correction and grading is that the type of color adjustments

always need to make sense with the scene, the emotions, the message you're showing.

The rest is just trial, error and practice.

And that's about it for this quick tip.

If you have any questions, just hit me up in the comment section.

Thank you for watching, whanowa over

Preparing Your Dog for the 4th of July! How to Prepare Your Dog for July 4th Celebrations & Parties! - Duration: 5:23.

Hi everybody and welcome back to relax my dog now with fourth of July

literally just around the corner me and Milo thought we would compile a few

top tips on what you can do around this holiday season because it is quite a

dangerous one for dogs so we thought we'd compile a few top tips so that you

guys must take into account if you do have dogs and you are celebrating the

fourth of July or generally just any other celebration you are having around

this time of year so before we get started do let us know down below in the

comments what you guys are doing to celebrate 4th of July or what you do to

celebrate any other celebration that you have coming up wether you have birthday a

wedding anything like that or if you do celebrate 4th of July do let us know

what sort of thing obviously me and Mylo obviously are

from the UK so we don't celebrate the 4th of July but we are very interested

to hear what sort of things that you guys do or if you're from in the UK let

me know down below what different celebrations you're going to be

celebrating over summer so let's get started with our 5 top tips the first

one is an obvious one and this is whenever there's fireworks going on keep

your dog indoors you don't want them to be going around where there's fireworks

you obviously don't your dog to be anywhere where the fireworks are going

up because that is a very much a danger hazard and you also want to keep them

indoors because obviously a firework goes up it's got to come down somewhere

as well and you don't want your dog to be affected by that either so

definitely do keep them indoors if you can it is very very important that you

do so as well as fireworks that are maybe other loud noises like

celebrations and people laughing etc just basically loud crowds that your

dog can get very anxious by and may decide to hide somewhere etc. so

you want to be very very careful and keep your dog indoors especially if they

are quite timid Mylo personally he is not timid at all or kind of and he does

get quite scared of sorts of thunder and lightning so when it is thunder and

lightning or if there is fireworks going on we always keep them indoors just to be

on the safe side and number two is one that I didn't actually think about and

then all of a sudden was like actually that is so so important and that is to make sure that

your dog is easily identified for example you need to make sure that your

dog has a collar on using you as an example

obviously Milo even though he has such thick fur you can see his collar here I'm not

strangling him by the way I'm just lifting it up and you should also have a tag on your

dog as well so they can be easily identified on our tag we have we have

one of our phone numbers and we do have our address as well so that if

Mylo is ever found he can be brought back home now our third top tip is

something you guys probably have already thought about and that is talking about

alcohol obviously around celebrations that are going to be adults outside that

are going to be having alcohol are going to be celebrating with their friends but

you need to make sure that any alcohol is kept far away from pets and any sort

of empty glasses that have a little bit of alcohol left needs to be carefully

disposed of because even that can have a bad effect on your dog obviously dog

stomachs aren't made for that at all so yeah just be careful with this make sure you

keep it out of reach and make sure that you don't let your dog have any access

to it basically and number four sort of sticks alongside that one and that is all

about food you need to make sure that you are aware of what food is poisonous

and is damaging towards your dog we have many videos on relax my dog to do with

different foods that your dog should not be eating so definitely do check those

out if you want a little bit more information on that basically there's a

lot of foods there especially party foods that you're putting out that dogs

cannot have and so to make sure that you are doing your research prior to make

sure that if there's any spillages or if you have on a picnic outside obviously

some dogs will just go and eat that but you need to be careful that they are not

thankfully Mylo is quite a good dog and even if you have food out on the table on the

ground he isn't really one that reaches up to try and get it he will sort of stay

back unless you tell him to go and get it even when we put his dinner down he

doesn't eat see straight away if he has to give you his paw his other paw and

then he can have it and then our fifth one is again one that you guys

probably have thought about already and this is all about that the fourth of

July there's a lot of celebrations a lot of loud noises but your dog might be

scared of this a lot of dogs can be anxious about new people in their area

large crowds of people etc so make sure that you're giving your dog that a safe

space for them to go into whether there's a separate room that sort of

nobody else is allowed in there apart from the dog where their bed is where

their drinks are and where some food is for them I'm very sorry if you can hear

someone mowing their lawn I have shut the window and obviously it's British

summer time at the moment so everyone seems to think it's the right time to

either go on holiday because theres an aeroplane going over now or to mow their

lawn which is fab well that is it for me and Mylo thank you so so so

much for watching this video don't forget to give it a thumbs up if you

enjoyed it definitely do let us know down below what different celebrations

you're going to be having over this summer period I

hope you're all enjoying the lovely weather we are having at the moment also

t-shirt is pop over to Instagram post a picture of you and your dog the funnier

the better and then you could win your very own relax my dog t-shirt do

not forget to tag us in the pictures to make sure that we see them and that is

it for me Mylo thank you so so much for watching and we'll see you next time for
