good morning! happy Tuesday! I have had three glorious nights with the baby
sleeping in her crib so this mama has had tons of sleep. But today's video is
not on my baby girl it is on Christian devotionals for busy moms specifically
Amazon's top three. I wanted to look through
these devotional books with you on Amazon and then I need your help in
deciding which one I'm going to purchase because I am in search of a new
devotional and what better place to look than Amazon and their top sellers. While
you are here, I would love for you to consider subscribing to this channel
that is all about faith and motherhood. I post new videos every Tuesday morning at
7 a.m. Eastern Standard Time but let's get the logistics out of the way and
let's just get into today's video. All right here we go. I'm on Amazon. I've
typed in "devotions for busy moms" and then the top three that come up are the
ones that Amazon recommends to me. The first one it recommends me is the busy
moms devotional ten minutes a week to a life of devotion. I'd actually like
something that's daily. This was published back in 2007 so it seems
pretty old. Only $12.99 in paperback. "from this best-selling author comes a
52-week devotional guide designed to help busy but spiritually hungry women
carve out time each week for God. In the time it takes to empty an email inbox
to drive a child to soccer practice, Lisa Burgin draws harried women Godward
with 10-minute devotions including scripture, real-life illustration." Alright
so I like the fact that this book has ten minutes but I kind of want
something more instead of weekly I want something more daily. I like that it has
reflective questions, real-life illustrations. That seems nice. "Great
devotional for moms. Truly only takes ten minutes to complete. I set aside time
once a week with a hot cup of coffee. Lisa starts out each
devotional with an interpretation of the verse followed by a personal story which
makes it very easy to relate to real life. The questions are thought-provoking
but very open-ended for your interpretation so that anxiety of
getting the wrong answer is not there." well that's good to know. She does
have a two star review it says: "this was writing all over
the inside. it said it was new." Oh so that's not really like a reflection
on the author. All right let's look at the three star review. Three star review
says: "I'm fairly disappointed with this book. I didn't get what I was expecting
out of the book. I'm not even halfway through it. I may not finish it." Amazon is
recommending a book called "Breathe mama breathe: five minute mindfulness for busy
moms." I actually already have but I have not read it so that's good to know.
It is $12 and seven cents. It was printed in 2017 by Shonda Morales but I don't
know that this one is scripture related. I think when I originally purchased this
one I thought it had scripture but it's like a five minute mindfulness book for
busy moms. Let's see here. Let's read the description. Which I am into mindfulness
practices so I've done a series, a whole series on mindfulness for kids. I will
link in a card up here that you might be interested in checking out. But this says
"moms can feel as if they are sprinting through life crashing onto the pillow at
day's end only to start again the next morning. In Breathe Mama Breathe
psychotherapist Shonda Morales outlines the benefits of daily meditation and
shows mom's how to do it in just five minutes." So I like the fact that
it's five minutes a day plus she shares over 60 mindful breaks of the help mom's
tune in to their own well-being along with everyone else's. so this is really
great. It's mindfulness but there's no scripture related to it so I don't
understand why Amazon recommended that to me for a devotional but I do have
this book so if I could somehow attached Scripture along with
this mindfulness practice then that might be up my alley. All right let's see
what the third one is that Amazon recommends to me. So the third one that
Amazon recommends me is is by Lisa TurkHurst.
It's called "embraced :100 devotions to know God is holding you close." okay so
one hundred devotions sounds good to me. Lisa
TurkHurst is from Charlotte North Carolina -correct me if I'm wrong -which
is close to where I live. This was printed in March 27 to 2018 so it just came out.
I like that it has five star review. 104 customer reviews. $9.99 on Kindle or
$13.59 hardcover. "through these 100 devotions daily
scriptures and prayer prompts, readers will be equipped to begin to find
freedom from the struggles that have held them hostage by learning new ways
to experience God's love and more authentic ways to trust him." It's
100 devotions but it doesn't say how long the devotions are so let's go down
and read some customer reviews. One of the five star reviews says "reading daily
I absolutely love this new devotional. you can tell that Lisa's words are truly
from the word of the Lord. Although the devotions are not dated like
most devotionals out there, I could open the table of contents to look for one
that may target something I'm going through or seeking word from God to help."
This person says- this person gave her four star reviews- so this says
"I love the contents of the book and Lisa Tyrkhurst is a great devotional only
problem is the book cover was attached upside down and backwards. I was not
happy with that." What happened? They are experiencing a printing failure. There is one three star
review. Let's look at that one and see what that one says: "the book has a
beautiful cover and the format is not a daily devotional. I ended up donating it
to my church library." Here's another three star review: "both books arrived but
they were both very dirty. I was disappointed. I had to use it anyway. the
books are amazing and wonderful." So there's some kind of publishing error.
attached. my cover is backwards. wish it wasn't but will still enjoy it."
what's up with that? Which of these three books would you
recommend to me that I purchased? Should I take Amazon suggestions or do
you have a daily devotional that I should look into? If you do, leave that to
me down below. I'm looking for something short . Five minutes would
be ideal for me. I would like some kind of scripture and some kind of like small
reflection. It can have prayer. I cannot have enough necessarily need prayer
prompts but something that's you know one-page and short would be awesome.
Leave your recommendations down below. thanks so much for watching today's
video. there are 900 of you all and I'm so thankful for each and every one of
you. I'm hoping to reach a thousand subscribers this summer so I would love
your help in making that happen. If there is a video of mine that you love or
you love this one, please share it with your friends. I hope the rest of your
Tuesday is fabulous and I will see you next week. same time same place. thanks
for watching! Bye! What you doing baby girl? hey you okay?
