Hello, my name is Jeremiah. I was looking back at one of my projects that
I wanted to make it to a video. Now, I wrote it when I was in seventh grade.
So, the quality of the writing isn't going to be
as good as what I can do now because I am in ninth grade, but
It is
important in its message
So, I wanted to make a video out of it.
So in this video
Spiritual Gifts are for Today,
I go into explaining
why spiritual gifts still occur today. Why do they still happen? How can they still happen? And
going in to explain why I believe that spiritual gifts s till happen. So many people say,
"Oh, Spiritual gifts - they ended with the death of the last apostle,"
but that is not true. NO!
So I don't want to give away everything that's in the video before you even watch it. So
Let me
say and
give you without further ado,
Spiritual Gifts for Today. I hope you enjoy!
Spiritual Gifts are for Today by Jeremiah Yonemura
For centuries, people have been arguing about many Biblical topics.
Topics like if one can lose Salvation,
if Spiritual gifts are for today,
and if the Trinity is real are a few examples of the many biblical topics that people
disagree about because of the differences in interpretation. I will be discussing a major topic that is disagreed among many denominations:
whether Spiritual gifts are or, are not still for today.
I will tell you why Spiritual gifts are for today.
Three points will be focused on today:
Spiritual gifts have not ended with the death of the last original apostle, nor have they ceased.
There is outward evidence that has happened within the past 100 years.
Spiritual gifts will be for all generations to come until we are perfect.
First, we will go over that Spiritual gifts are for all generations to come.
Acts 2:38 (AMP) says, "And Peter answered them, Repent
(change your views and purpose to accept the will of God in your inner selves instead of rejecting it)
and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of and release from your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Peter did not say,
"Repent and
you will receive the Holy Spirit until the rest of us die."
In fact, he said in verse 39,
"For the
promise [of the Holy Spirit] is to and for you and your children,
and to and for all that are far away, [even] to and for as
many as the Lord our God invites and bids to come to Himself."
This means for all generations continuing. Those today
who come to God
can still receive this promise.
Next, spiritual gifts will continue until we are perfect.
1 Cor. 13:8-10 (AMP) says,
"Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete
or comes to an end].
As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose),
it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease;
as for knowledge, it will pass away
[it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].
For our knowledge is fragmentary
(incomplete and imperfect), and our prophecy (our teaching) is fragmentary
(incomplete and imperfect).
But when the complete and perfect (total) comes,
the incomplete
and imperfect
will vanish away
(become antiquated,
void, and
superseded)."
Many use "tongues will be destroyed and cease, as for knowledge, it will pass away…
… our prophecy is fragmentary…" as a
a reason to say that Spiritual gifts are not for today,
but saying that is avoiding context.
To put this into context, the verse is saying that we are imperfect.
That includes our tongues, our teachings, and
knowledge.
Once we are perfect, only then will the human knowledge,
unknown tongues, and prophecy come to an end.
Right now, we are still imperfect, which means
Spiritual gifts are for today.
First Corinthians 14:5 (AMP) says,
"Now I wish that you might all speak in [unknown] tongues,
but more especially [I want you] to prophesy (to be inspired to preach
and interpret the divine will and purpose).
He who prophesies
[who is is inspired to preach and teach]
is greater
(more useful and more important) than he who speaks in
[unknown] tongues, unless he should interpret [what he says],
so that the church may be edified and receive good [from it]."
This also shows that
Spiritual gifts are for today because of two reasons:
What Paul says applies to us, and Paul wishes that we all speak in tongues,
and even more prophesy.
Paul did not say
that, once he dies these gifts are null and void.
I will talk about outward evidence, but first
Jesus did everything through his Father the Holy Spirit.
"Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me?
What I am telling you I do not say on My own authority and of My own accord;
but the Father Who lives
continually in Me does the ( His ) works
(His own miracles, deeds of power)."
John 14:10
The point is that the Father in this case is the Holy Spirit and Jesus
used the Holy Spirit. If Jesus used the Holy Spirit,
why can't we?
Well, we can!
Within the past century, the gifts of the Spirit have been taking place. I have heard stories of
people seeing through glass eyeballs,
regaining hearing, and many more things as a result of the gifts of the Spirit.
I've experienced that this fact is true.
I have been "slain in the Spirit,"
which is a term used when the Spirit moves upon a person and falls to the ground,
not meaning death.
Many say that this is a result of being really emotionally involved. I am not always extremely
emotionally involved, and it has happened to me.
One day I was praying at youth group, and I got slain in the Spirit and started praying in unknown tongues,
which is the outward evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit. I am no Bible scholar or pastor,
but I was baptized in the Holy Spirit.
This shows that anybody saved can get spiritual gifts until we are perfect.
Let's review what I hope you all learned.
Spiritual gifts have not ended with the death of the last original apostle,
nor have they ceased.
There is outward evidence that has happened within the past 100 years.
Spiritual gifts will be for all generations to come until we are perfect.
People have been healed, and I have experienced Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
This will continue until
we are perfect.
I hope that I have convinced you that Spiritual gifts are for today
with facts from the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth:
the Bible.
I encourage you to talk to your pastor(s) and
your parents about getting baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Thank you!!! :)
And that wraps up Spiritual Gifts Are For Today.
So I just want to thank you for watching. Thank you for getting through
the video. It took quite a bit of time out of my day
to finish this. So thank you so much. If you
liked this video, then please share with others
so that others may be blessed.
Thank you, and remember, let everything be the glory of the Lord.
Thank you, and God bless you!
