Welcome back to my channel where we are onto part 3 of my mothers day lesson series.
now in part one, i showed you the object lesson using the chart which you can download from
my website. and in part 2 i did a mothers day letter which is more suitable for older
kids and when you have more lesson time. and today in part 3 i have a very quick simple
card activity that goes with the object lesson that you can do with little children all the
way up to older children especially if you only have about 30 minutes for a lesson.
ok, lets jump into part 3.
So with part 3, what i do is i go through the object lesson using the chart and then
we get into the idea of doing something thats going to make their mother feel encouraged
and feel loved on mothers day and what I like to do first is i like to share with the kids
my own personal thoughts about being a mum and the things that are really special for
me on mothers day.
And it's not necessarily the gifts the fluffy slippers the perfume the new bath robe or
coffee mug or flowers but you know what is the most special thing to me is all the beautiful
cards that my kids make for me over the years.
and i tell them i actually have a couple of drawers full of cards and then i go through
and i read through some of them of the special things that the kids have written to me and
how it means so much to me, the beautiful words that they write and they put in these cards
And so I share that with them and then another activity I like to do with them is I like
to ask them, what is it about your mum that makes her special? and that you love about
your mum.
And so then I'll just write up on the board their thoughts of what makes their mum special,
just to give them some sentences and some wording especially if they are young kids
they need some help with spelling.
So I'll do that as well and then it will be time to go into the actual making of the simple
mothers day card and this is how it goes.
here's what you need, some thick paper that you can have ready as cards.
The first thing I get the kids to do is to write their message inside the card first,
which is the priority for this lesson and then when they finish that they can take their
crayons, their markers, their pencils and begin decorating they need some glue sticks
and all you need to do is get some little patty pans for the flowers.
The other things I also get is some of these lunch bags, because when they finish their
card, they can put it in the lunch bag and then they can hide it away for their mum and
keep it nice and safe until mothers day morning.
So those lunch bags are important.
The other thing that I always do is I always have a little sample to be able to show the
kids a little bit of what the card can look like.
Now if had extra little items like some confetti, this is glitter confetti and they can just
use glue sticks and decorate their flowers that way or you might have some buttons here's
some with some button eyes and heres some little foam things, any little extra things
that they can put on their card, kids love that sort of thing.
Ok, so there is how you can do a very quick simple mothers day card to go with the object
lesson and easily do this in a 30 minute time slot.
