Waching daily Apr 24 2018

Recently the welfare of animals has been an area of focus

due to the increased cases of animal abuse

Is the current law in Hong Kong able to prevent these things from happening?

We have interviewed the SPCA, let us hear their opinion

There are some things that are missing which are very common elsewhere

So for instance banning people who have a history of being cruel to animals

either from owning pets or owning animals for a certain period of time

or in serious cases, from working with animals or having contact with animals

in some jurisdictions we have that

In Hong Kong we have no powers to ban anybody who has been convicted of animal abuse and cruelty from owning an animal

So you could go to court one day

You could be fined for an offence

and if you dont have to go to jail you could go out the next day and get another animal

Again, it is not so clear in our legislation about duty of care

about the fact that it is possible to prosecute somebody for not doing something

or not taking action that they should have done.

A lot of the prosecutions that we do depend on the animal having suffered.

So the animal already has to have suffered before we can actually have a prosecution.

Whereas actually in some of the legislations if somebody has not done something they should reasonably do

and it could be expected that something horrible may happen as a result

they could be prosecuted

but at the moment we do not do anything like that

Having listened to the opinion of an expert

what do the citizens of Hong Kong think?

Oh, a few days ago a dog in Wanchai was thrown down from a building on to a car and died

but Hong Kong does not seem to have a very concrete or apparent law to protect them.

I am also not very familiar on the area of animal law

I do not have much understanding on animal law

In my opinion, I think there is probably a section in the law preventing animal cruelty

I know that there will be enforcing agents to enforce the law if someone commits animal cruelty

I see in the news there have recently been many incidents of dog poisoning

but even after a long time there has not appeared to have been any action

So I think that maybe there is insufficient protection for the welfare of animals in Hong Kong

I personally think that there could be more protection [yeah]

I dont understand the problem, I dont know anything about it.

I think there should still be some areas which can be improved

for example the areas of monitoring or penalties could be stronger

I think the penalties for animal abuse are insufficient

I think the Hong Kong government can make the laws more stringent to scare away people from committing the acts

and on a personal level schools can educate people that they cannot recklessly treat the lives of other beings badly

It seems like our current laws are imperfect

What can we do as citizens to help promote animal welfare?

To me, I think getting involved would be great

like everybody getting involved would be great

but I think that would be... Not yet

that would be a much much later part

I think understanding what it is

and why it affects us

That in itself would make a difference

and then once you know, then you do the change and adding in and the contribution

but it is knowing, it is knowledge

in terms of LegCo or the government

They have bigger power to help

but they are very very restrained by bureaucracy and what the people want

and if the people do not want or do not care about animal situations

because they do not know

the government is not going to care about it

Who Is Tristan Thompson's Other Baby Mama? - Duration: 4:33.

Tristan Thompson made headlines when he was allegedly caught cheating on his then-pregnant

girlfriend, Khloé Kardashian, in April 2018.

After video of his apparent infidelity was shared across the world, fans of Keeping up

with the Kardashians were heartbroken for Khloe, who'd appeared head over heels in love

with the NBA player and expressed a lot excitement over having their child together.

But Thompson's alleged New York City tryst may not have been the first time he acted

shady toward the mother of his child, considering he started dating Kardashian when his now-ex,

model Jordan Craig, was pregnant with his first baby.

So, who is this mysterious woman who claimed Thompson's heart first?

Let's take a look at the mother of Thompson's oldest kiddo.

Expecting, but not ready

Khloe's relationship with Tristan Thompson may have been ill-fated from the start.

The two started dating in 2016, while Jordan Craig was still pregnant with their son, Prince

Oliver.

It's unclear if Craig and Thompson were still together when Kardashian entered the picture,

but she doesn't seem to have any ill-will for the reality star.

Rather than going on to gloat about Kardashian getting her just desserts after Thompson was

caught on film allegedly cheating on her, Craig instead responded to the news with nothing

but class.

In a message posted on her Instagram Stories shortly after news about Thompson's alleged

infidelity broke, Craig wrote:

"If you respect yourself and you respect others, you would never make light of the misfortune

of anyone, nor would you feel indemnified when it comes at the expense of others.

Wishing peace for everyone."

Certainly, Craig's maturity earned her some new Instagram followers out of the ordeal,

which probably doesn't hurt her own personal business interests.

Internet hustle

Like Khloé Kardashian, Jordan Craig is a social media star.

She doesn't have quite as many followers as Kardashian -- whose family name probably helped

her gain her 75 million Instagram followers -- but Craig is not doing so badly herself.

Jordan boasts over 600 thousand followers on the photo-sharing site and does more than

just share snaps of her stylish outfits.

She also runs her very own lifestyle blog, All Eyes on Jordy C.

There, she writes about fashion, beauty, and motherhood, and as if all that weren't enough,

Craig also sells fashionable clothes — the same ones she wears in her social media posts

— online via Big Cartel.

While Craig has carved out a nice little niche for herself on the internet, she still battles

insecurities about her online gig.

She told Cosmopolitan that she was jealous of some of her peers' level of education and

added:

"It literally used to upset me that people would refer to me as 'just an Instagram model'

when I've never wanted or claimed to be that."

Considering everything else she's accomplished so far, she's well on her way to being a bona

fide fashionista.

Cool connections

Jordan Craig's connection to the Kardashian family is hardly the first big-name celebrity

she's been closely associated with.

Craig is actually related by marriage to comedian and actor Kevin Hart.

Hart's wife, model Eniko Parrish just so happens to be Craig's first cousin.

And the two appear to be close based on their public exchanges.

Parrish helped throw Craig's baby shower, and Parrish shared a snap of the lavish event

on her own Instagram account, celebrating Craig's future as a mom.

Hey, it might not be a whole family full of A-listers, but it's certainly a start.

The Kardashian konnection

Surprisingly, Jordan Craig was just one degree away from the Kardashian family long before

making the news as the ex-girlfriend and baby mama of Khloé Kardashian's boyfriend, Tristan

Thompson.

Craig actually dated another famous man who became close to a member of the Kar-Jenner

crew — "Rack City" rapper Tyga.

Yep.

Before Craig dated the Cleveland Cavaliers player, she was getting cozy with Tyga, whose

real name is Micheal Ray Stevenson.

This is, of course, the same Tyga who dated Kardashian's younger half-sister, Kylie Jenner,

on and off for years, despite the couple's controversial age difference.

And it's the same Tyga who fathered a child with Blac Chyna, who then went on to have

another baby with troubled brother Rob Kardashian.

So, Jordan's second hand entanglement with the family is definitely more complicated

than it already seems.

Side-stepping a scandal

Tristan Thompson almost had another scandal on his hands during Khloé Kardashian's pregnancy

— and Craig was directly involved in it.

In April 2018, The Blast reported that a home video of Thompson and Craig together was being

shopped around to media outlets back in November 2017.

The tape in question was reportedly stolen off Craig's phone when she took it to a store

to be serviced.

As soon as Craig caught wind of the tape's potential sale, she reportedly hired a Los

Angeles attorney to regain possession of the footage and destroy it.

Though Thompson was reportedly one of the stars of the video, he did not get involved

in the legal drama, despite being made aware of the situation.

It's unclear if the video was recorded when Craig and Thompson were together or if it

was taped sometime after the two supposedly ended things.

But in either case, it was almost even more dramatic for this unusual love triangle.

THIS IS IT: Congress DROPS NUKE On Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton just got some bad news from a top Democratic lawmaker who made it clear

that the party has had enough of her.

The Hill reported that Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) said in an interview that Clinton

needs to be more careful in how she describes President Donald Trump's voters.

"For those of us that are in states that Trump won, we would really appreciate if she

would be more careful and show respect to every American voter and not just the ones

who voted for her," McCaskill told MSNBC's Kasie Hunt.

"I understand the point she was trying to make, but it felt like she was criticizing

Missouri voters.

I would draw a line there.

I have great respect for Missouri voters, and there were a lot reasons why they voted

for Donald Trump, some of them I understand."

Trump won McCaskill's home state of Missouri in the 2016 presidential election.

This came after Clinton described areas that voted for Trump during a recent address in

India.

"If you look at the map of the United States, there's all that red in the middle where

Trump won," Clinton said.

"I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward.

And his whole campaign, 'Make America Great Again,' was looking backwards.

You didn't like black people getting rights, you don't like women, you know, getting

jobs.

You don't want, you know, to see that Indian-American succeeding more than you are.

Whatever your problem is … working for a woman now, you don't like it.

Whatever the reason was, he stirred that up."

This isn't the first time McCaskill has slammed Clinton for attacking Trump supporters.

"Those are kind of fighting words for me, because I'm partial to Missouri voters,"

she said.

"I think they were expressing their frustration with the status quo.

I may not have agreed with their choice, but I certainly respect them.

And I don't think that's the way you should talk about any voter, especially ones in my

state."
