Inclusive T-shirt for India Inclusion Summit 2017 - Duration: 2:15.

India Inclusion Summit, every year, as a part of its merchandise

gives T-Shirts made by general vendors

which is either screen printed, rubber printed, etc. mechanized processes.

This year we wanted to do something different.

We thought instead of giving our T-Shirt contract to a random vendor

why don't we do it in a more inclusive way?

During the process of my social entrepreneurship journey

I came across an organization known as Nav Prabhuti Trust.

Nav Prabhuti Trust has been working since the past 5 years

to provide vocational training to around 20 young adolescents in the autism spectrum.

The teachers some of whom are mothers themselves,

have designed courses to allow the students to express themselves creatively,

earn their livelihood, to ultimately become self sustainable.

Block printing is a major facet of this organization.

Block printing provides a creative outlet for the students to make merchandise

such as T-Shirts, bags, wedding cards etc.

For India Inclusion Summit 2017 we are promoting

T-Shirts which are hand block printed uniquely by adolescents

affected with Autism.

With Each T-Shirt that you buy, the proceedings will go towards

India Inclusion Fellowship and Nav Prabhuti Trust.

India Inclusion Fellowship tries to promote social entrepreneurs

in the disability sector like myself, to kickstart their social venture ideas.

Please buy the IIS T-shirts to work towards a more inclusive India.

Welcome to Raj Creations, In this video

I am going to show you kantha work, this is very basic and simple

easy hand embroidery for beginners

Let's have a look,

Let's get started

First of all I will draw a motif on fabric

then will show you how to do this embroidery

this is free hand embroidery, done all over the fabric look very beautiful

on your dupattas and sarees

as it is simple and easy so you can

do kantha work on your leisure time

draw a motif or get is traced from market

now starting the outline part here I am using black color thread with 2 strands

first we will do the outline all over the motif and then fill the internal parts

kantha work is very similar to running stitch

try to make similar size 3-4 stitches at a time

even if you are a beginner, you have not done embroidery earlier you can easily do this

or you can start with kantha work

here I am doing the inner circle

remember not to skip stitches on points curves and edges

to give you motif a proper shape

as you can see in the video I am trying to cover the circle as well as leave

with kantha work

now starting the filling part

in the same manner we have to fill the area under the outlines

do the same stitches as we have done earlier in outlining

the whole motif has to be filled like this

after filling the whole motif look like this in order to enhance to motif you can attach sequence beads and stones etc

here I am using sequences to attach these using back stitch

this way we have to cover the whole motif

Improving Healthcare Delivery for Children with Asthma - Duration: 2:14.

I was brought in to do dissemination work on the Chicago plan and one of the

things that we have discovered is that there is such a fit between design and

healthcare and especially medical research that our role has grown and

expanded and seeped into all stages of the research project.

Our findings helped inform study design, we actually changed the study design that was initially

proposed based on the work that we did and the way we were looking at things, so

we spent a lot of time in emergency rooms watching care being delivered.

We realized that the discharge process is placed at the weakest moment in the

patient experience, which is that last 20 minutes, or somebody after being in an ED

for six hours says, "You can go," and the caregivers, the phones come out, they're

ordering food, or getting their ride you know lined up, and now some poor nurse has to

walk in and say, "Let me show you how to use a spacer." And we heard about this

tension between nurses who are trying to do instruction, and you know help people

care for their child once they're home, and how caregivers are so exhausted, and

they're hungry, and their kid is crying, and their ride is out front.

They don't want to hear it, which produces a friction because nurses care

deeply about children, and they're protective of children, and the idea that

a caregiver is not taking this very important information in, is troubling to

them, because they see sometimes the same children coming in again and again.

So, realizing that discharge was placed in this very weak moment in the process

for a patient in terms of their receptivity, or ability to respond to it,

we moved the discharge process into that waiting time. So we have enhanced

discharge now being occurring in a time where a patient can or a caregiver can

make better use of it, and also at a time where the discharge instructions aren't

being delivered by staff, who may be called out to another bay to serve

another patient there might be a gunshot wound coming in,

so there's one person who is dedicated to doing discharge.
