PG&E's Children's Center, Bringing Peace of Mind to Parent-Employees for 25 years - Duration: 2:40.

It happened 25 years ago. That's when PG&E became the

first company in San Francisco's Financial District with an

in-house children's day care center. A current PG&E employee

involved in the center's launch wondered if it would open.

At the time that the center was opening,

there was so much debate

about whether or not we should have children at our

corporate headquarters. But it helped that the daughter of

then-CEO Richard Clark just became a mother and she had his

ear. She really persuaded him that this was a tremendous

benefit for working parents. Since 1992, PG&E's Children's

Center has served the children of its employees. The center is

managed by Bright Horizons. They're a national leader in

employer-sponsored child care. The original capacity was 66

students. Today, it's 73. It serves children as young as six

weeks to as old as five years. Employees pay a monthly tuition.

The estimated 14 spots that open annually fill quickly. And

there's a waiting list for good reason.

It's really convenient in the morning

to drop her off and just go straight to work.

Knowing that she's here, that I can go visit her any time during

the day. If she's sick or something happens to her, I can

always run upstairs and come and see her. It also eliminates the

headaches that come with day care.

I hear all of these horror stories

about parents who have multiple drop offs in the

morning and multiple drop offs in the afternoon and they're

paying extra money because they can't get there on time. I don't

have to worry about any of that. There's benefits for the

employer.

Bringing your whole self to work is a part of what

we want from our employees. And we want employees to be able to

think about their work when they're at work. We want them to

be safe on the job. There's additional benefits for

employees, too. Katie Funseth's mother brought her to the center

when she was two. She was never very far from her mother.

They would walk the kids around the block

and they would have a stroller that fit five kids.

And I do remember that. They would

walk us all and take us on field trips and I used to wave at

mommy's window. Not to mention additional quality time.

The ability to be able to commute with your child,

whether it be on public transit or in the car,

they get some extra time with

their child and to have really meaningful conversations. It

also creates a win-win for parent and child. My kids are at

an age now where I can actually take them to lunch. And, if I'm

having a bad day, it's something that kind of snaps me right out

of it to realize what's the broader perspective here on

life.

For Currents, I'm Tony Khing.

A sower went out to sow his Seed

And as he Scattered The grain some of it fell by the path and was trodden on and The Birds of the air devoured it

Some Fell on Rocky Ground and when the plants Sprouted they Withered away because they had no Moisture

and Some Seeds Fell Among Thorns and the Thorns Grew up with the plants and

Choked Them

And Some Seeds Fell in Good soil and the

Plants Grew and Bore Grain

100 Grains Each

This Is what the Parable Means

The Seed is the Word of God

The Seeds That Fell Along the Path Stand for Those who hear but

The Devil Comes and Takes the Message away from Their Hearts in Order to Keep them from Believing and Being Saved

The Seeds That Fell on Rocky ground stand for Those who hear the Message and receive it Gladly

But They have no roots

They Believe Only For a While

When the Time of Testing comes they Fall away?

The Seeds That Fell Among Thorns Stand for Those who hear

But The Worries and Riches and Pleasures of This Life Crowd in and choke Them and

Their Fruit Never Ripens

And the Seeds That Fell in Good soil

Stand for Those who Hear the Message and Retain it in A good and Obedient Heart and They persist until they bear Fruit

Monaco star Thomas Lemar 'only has eyes for Liverpool after snubbing £92m Arsenal deal' - Duration: 3:30.

Monaco star Thomas Lemar 'only has eyes for Liverpool after snubbing £92m Arsenal deal'

THOMAS LEMAR will snub Arsenal again and target a Liverpool transfer in the next window, according to reports in France.

Despite claiming Paul Pogba's £89million move to Manchester United in 2016 was "completely crazy", Arsene Wenger bid £92m for the Monaco man this week. Thomas Lemar scored twice against Holland for France last night – and shunned a move to Arsenal.

Thomas Lemar scored twice against Holland on international duty. L'Equipe claim the France ace – who scored twice in his nation's 4-0 World Cup qualifier win over Holland on Thursday – blanked the Gunners as he only has eyes for Anfield.

The fact Arsenal have dropped out of the Champions League and instead face tedious European trips to Crvena Zvezda in Bosnia, Koln in Germany and BATE in Belarus, probably guided his choice.

Liverpool were interested in Lemar but their ability to snap up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for just £40m – from a direct Premier League rival no less – made that a better option.

Speaking after his international brace, Lemar said: "I am a Monaco player and I am very happy there. "Now I am going to go and have a good season with my club, try to keep progressing and advancing in my career.

Wenger was in the stands to watch his No1 target destroy the Dutch and it must have been painful for the Gunners boss to see.

Thomas Lemar scored 14 goals in 55 appearances for Monaco last season.

Thomas Lemar looked in line for a late move to Arsenal. Lemar wasted no time crying over his failure to secure a switch to England as he showed his admirers exactly what he is capable of.

It was Lemar's first goal and France's second that lit up the ground as he produced a rocket to double his side's advantage.

He unleashed a left foot piledriver on the volley from 20 yards straight into the top corner to leave the French supports delighted. Keep up to date with all the latest news, gossip, rumours and done deals in SunSports live transfer blog.

California Cities Surpass Energy-Saving Goals for Step Up and Power Down Initiative - Duration: 1:50.

PG&E's Step Up and Power Down initiative is built on taking

small actions that add up to a big impact for saving energy in

California. These actions can be as simple as turning off and

unplugging electronic devices. For the 18-month initiative,

PG&E partnered with San Francisco and San Jose to help

businesses save energy at work.

PG&E has been committed to energy efficiency

for almost four decades. Energy efficiency

is very important to us because it is a way for us to help our

customers reduce their costs.

It's this belief in a community

response. That, while each impact might seem very small

individually, when taken as a whole, when all of our

businesses are working together towards this common purpose, we

can make big changes happen.

We've been working collaboratively

over the last year with PG&E, our business

sector and our residents on Step Up and Power Down. We're asking

our residents to step up and do a little bit more, and that

little bit more we want them to do is to use a lot less energy.

The beauty of this program is that size didn't matter. There

was something for everyone. The results have been fantastic. 400

businesses participating reducing 25 gigawatt hours. But,

in addition to the results, we have much stronger

relationships. In San Francisco, over 800 businesses participated

in this program. Those businesses saved more than 23

million kilowatt hours of energy and that was enough to power

1,700 homes for over a year. In order to create big results we

have to work together. My determination around Step Up and

Power Down is to leave an impact so that people are making wiser

decisions to reduce energy consumption and reduce the waste

that's happening in the world today.

PG&E Technology Experts Finding Solutions for Global Climate Change - Duration: 2:13.

There's no doubt a job in tech in Silicon Valley is cool, but

more and more PG&E is attracting talent from the valley called to

help solve global climate change. [Neelofar Anjum:] "We

are part of this clean power revolution that's going on right

now and I wanted to be a part of that." [Sean Ely:] "I'm excited

for PG&E's vision for a Grid of Things. We have unprecedented

visibility into how are distribution system is operating

and it's a win-win for the company and for our customers."

Smart Grid experts like Neelofar Anjum and Sean Ely test Volt

Var, Smart Inverters, Big Data and DERS and the way these play

with PG&E's grid. Sound techy? It is. But these digital

technologies may anticipate and mitigate voltage issues and help

take carbon out of the equation so PG&E's electric grid can

deliver even cleaner and more affordable energy to

Californians. [Vincent Chu:] "My first job was with one of the

technology companies in Silicon Valley. I think it's more

important and exciting to actually apply technologies to

enable great things." Vincent Chu studies customer energy

usage data from Smart Meters. His work informs the

modernization of the grid as more customers adopt solar,

electric vehicles and battery storage. [Fabio Mantovani:] "I

chose PG&E because we have tremendous challenges in the

energy world. We have an opportunity to work with great

technologies, with great companies and collaborators—as

an example, Solar City, Tesla Motors, Tesla Energy." PG&E is

partnering with Solar City on a pilot in San Jose to test solar

inverters. [Russ Griffith:] "What excites me the most is

that energy companies like PG&E can be true innovators and can

really lead the way in helping to prove how we're going to run

the grid of the future." Individual vision is different,

but these employees share a collective vision for

sustainability. [Rustom Dessai :] "It's really about the impact

that PG&E can have. A mobile phone picture company goes down

for a day—the impacts aren't that great. But if PG&E goes

down for a day the whole economy of California can suffer."
