Chelsea Transfer News: Torino 'laughing' at £23m bid for Davide Zappacosta

CHELSEA will be paying way over the odds to sign Davide Zappacosta from Torino, says James Horncastle.

Chelsea are determined to land defenders before deadline day and Zappacosta is available. The wing-back played 29 games for Torino last season but a change in formation means he isn't needed this term.

Antonio Conte has already missed out on signing Alex Sandro and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as he seeks to bolster his wing-back positions.

A £23million bid for Zappacosta has been launched in the hope Conte can sign the Italy international before today's 11pm deadline.

And journalist Horncastle told talkSPORT Torino will not refuse that deal. Conte was the first manager to call Zappacosta up to the Italy squad," he said.

"He's a wing-back but has lost his place at Torino int he last season because the manager has gone to a back four. "He's a little bit too attacking to play as a normal full-back.

"But he's still someone who is trusted not only by Antonio Conte but also Italy's current manager Gian Piero Ventura. He likes to play with a 3-5-2 formation.

"This time last year on deadline day when Chelsea signed Marcos Alonso I was more positive on that than a lot of other people.

"It was clear Alonso had had a very good season for Fiorentina and really fitted the brief of what Antonio Conte wanted.

"Zappacosta is an OK player but for €25m (£23m), Torino to some extent are laughing all the way to the bank. "To get that kind of price for a player who isn't a starter for them is pretty damn good.

Chelsea agree deal for Torino star

Chelsea have agreed a deal sign Torino right wing-back Davide Zappacosta for more than £23million, according to reports in Italy.

Sky Italia claim the 25-year-old is on his way to London for a medical after terms were agreed with Torino and the player, who will sign a four-year deal.

Zappacosta, who can also operate at right-back, has four caps for Italy and was initially called into the Azzurri squad by Blues boss Antonio Conte.

He did not make the managers final cut for Euro 2016 but Conte and his staff have been following his progress in Italy, where he made 25 starts and scored one Serie A goal last season.

The Chelsea boss wants competition at right-wing back, having failed to secure a deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Torino are set to more than quadruple their investment on the player, who cost them just under £5million two years ago.

Trump To Cut Scheduled Pay Raises For Federal Workers | Top Stories Today - Duration: 1:47.

President Trump sent a letter to Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Thursday announcing his intention

to cut pay raises for civilian government workers.

In the letter, Trump cited his authority in times of "national emergency or serious

economic conditions affecting the general welfare" to make adjustments to the 2018

pay schedule for federal employees.

Under the previous plan, workers were scheduled for a 1.9 percent bump. Trump will use his

authority to lower that to 1.4 percent.

"We must maintain efforts to put our Nation on a sustainable fiscal course," Trump wrote.

"A pay increase of this magnitude is not warranted, and Federal agency budgets could

not accommodate such an increase while still maintaining support for key Federal priorities

such as those that advance the safety and security of the American people."

Pay raises for government workers outside of Washington, D.C. will average only 0.5

percent and will be specified in a coming executive order, Trump said.

The White House did not respond to a question about how much the government would save from

the action or whether it had discussed the matter with offices on Capitol Hill.

Trump will maintain the 2.1 percent pay increase for members of the military.

"I strongly support our men and women in uniform, who are the greatest fighting force

in the world and the guardians of American freedom," Trump wrote.

"As our country continues to recover from serious economic conditions affecting the

general welfare, we must work to rebuild our military's readiness and capabilities."

7 Simple Road Trip Life Hacks For Long Weekend | Bea Organized | Refinery29 - Duration: 3:33.

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Bea Organized.

You know how much I love the studio

but on today's episode,

we're going on a road trip.

Before we hit the road,

I'm going to go over a couple of tips

to help us make this

the best road trip ever.

But first,

we gotta figure out where we're going.

Just kidding.

It's the 21st century.

So if you have a smartphone,

it's a great tool to use when you're planning your trip.

The first app that I want to walk you through

is Google Maps.

I know that you've probably already used it before,

but I'm just gonna show you some

little features that will make a road trip

a lot easier.

Once you figured out your end destination

and you know the route you're going to take,

it's great to find pitstops or attractions

along the way to make your ride fun.

What's great about Google Maps

is you can save those locations into your phone

so when it's time to stop,

they're right there waiting for you.

The next app I want to show you is GasBuddy.

This is a great app if you're traveling on a budget.

This app shows you the nearest gas stations

on your route and more specifically,

which ones have the cheapest gas.

Using this app to me is a no-brainer.

You can't have a road trip without music.

The next app I'm going to show you is Spotify.

Now I know you may already have it,

but I want to show you a feature that you might

not be aware of.

And this feature is great

when you're traveling with friends.

It's called Collaborative Playlist.

What you can do is make a playlist,

send the link to all of your friends,

and they can each individually add their own music

to the playlist.

What you get is a soundtrack to

your trip that everybody loves.

So that's what you can do with your phone.

What I want to show you now

are some hacks that we can use for inside the car.

Instead of packing up room-temperature water bottles,

stick one or two in the freezer the night before.

You'll have instant ice packs

and once they thaw out, you'll have ice cold water.

Where do baking cups belong in a car?

I'll show you.

Drop these into your cup holders to catch loose change.

No one likes a messy car,

so bring along a portable trash bin.

All you need is a plastic container

and small trash bags and the trash is taken care of.

Now all we need is a car.

Where's the car?

Here we go.

Wait, is that the car?

Oh my gosh!

What is this?

Oh!

Guys, this road trip just got an upgrade.

For safety, use a 3M velcro strip

to secure the garbage can to the car.

Using rubber bands, secure your phone to the visor.

Now you can capture all those fun moments

right to your phone.

Alright, now all I need is my friends.

Alright, you guys ready to go?

—So ready to go! —Yeah, man.

Let's do this.

It's time to pull up your playlist and hit the road.

We finally made it to the beach.

Now all that's left to do is enjoy our destination.

That's what I call a successful summer road trip.

Man Utd submitted £50milion offer for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio

Asensio has emerged as one of Europe's hottest prospects and scored a wonder goal against Valencia on Sunday. But news outlet Diario Gol suggest Jose Mourinho submitted a cheeky bid for the Spaniard while making enquiries for Gareth Bale.

Real, however, laughed off the bid. Asensio currently has a tantalising £74milion release clause in his current deal.

But Real want to raise his buyout to a gargantuan £552 milion to ward off suitors. Zinedine Zidane views the Spaniard as indispensable and integral to his long-term project at the Bernabeu.

Diario Gol say Asensio will be given more first-team opportunities this term. Last season he was predominately deployed from the bench and struggled to displace Gareth Bale from the 1st XI.

Reports over the weekend suggested Arsenal were in the hunt for his signature. The Gunners are facing a mini exodus over the next 24 hours and desperately need reinforcements.

Kieran Gibbs has already left the club for West Brom. Meanwhile Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez could also be packing their bags. Oxlade-Chamberlain is Liverpool bound and Sanchez remains a top target for Manchester City.
