Waching daily Aug 29 2017

Hey cruisers welcome to our weekly vlog as you can see they're definitely not in

the CruiseTipsTV studios this week for a vlog in fact I am traveling solo on

business so I am in a hotel room it is 8:30 at night and the lighting in this

room is terrible but hey I am NOT missing a weekly vlog we definitely

wanted to make sure that we got something out to you guys and answer

some awesome questions from our subscribers this week and gave you a

little idea of what's going on so I have a handy little printout of all our

questions and we will get right to it I hope that all of you have been enjoying

our Alaska packing series we've been having a lot of fun filming it also

wanted to let everybody know that our next live stream is coming Saturday

September 9th at noon pacific time right here on CruiseTipsTV so again Saturday

September 9th noon that will be our next live stream

we're not sure about the scene yet but we'd love for you to join us and of

course I will remind all of you on social media I promise all right you

guys so as a follow-up to our all about Norwegians list live stream you've got a

ton of comments a ton of commentary ton of opinions and really excited that all

of you watched that live stream with us and shared in your opinions about bliss

and all the different places that we'll be sailing and all the beautiful spaces

on the ship so our first comment today is actually a tip or a bit of

information from one of our subscribers Brad Johnson said I was looking at some

other stuff online around the Bliss and to answer one of your audience's

questions sharing yes the Bliss will have a smoking and non-smoking casino so

I think it was Sharon who had asked that question in the live stream and there

you go Sharon Brad said that it will indeed have a non smoking and smoking

casino so hopefully that will help out now we have a few questions coming in

from our subscribers this week the first one is from Levon Morton Levon says hi

we're planning our first cruise next year in May are some months better than

others to cruise also is it best to book online at myself or through a travel

agent so Livan if you're going to Alaska a little bit difficult to say if May is

going to have good weather but we had really good experience there in May

there's not a lot of kids on the cruises so that can be a good thing or a bad

thing depending type of proves that you're looking for

we personally had really sunny weather in May which is really interesting and

of course we absolutely recommend that you book with a travel agent it's you

just have nothing to lose we think it's a great idea so scroll through some of

our old videos where we talk about the benefits of using a travel agent and

check those out we have lots to say about the topic our next question comes

from Amanda hasty and Amanda says how is Carnival for the vegetarian Cruiser

we're going on Carnival Liberty in September and I can tell you Amanda that

most cruise lines including Carnival do very very well for the vegetarian

Cruiser now if you're a vegan it can get a little bit more complicated because

we're trying to get dairy and all animal products out of things but for the most

part cruising vegetarian is very easy you're going to find that there's

generally a few special entrees per evening in the main dining room that are

suitable for vegetarians and there will be tons of options for you in the buffet

restaurants but my recommendation is that as soon as you board or even before

you board to let the headwaiter know that you're a vegetarians that can help

you they're probably going to add some dishes to the menu for you on a nightly

basis and give you more choice so you'll have no problems at all and let me know

how that goes our next question today is from Nana M

Nana said this is a great video it's helping me to prepare for upcoming

cruise I did have a question regarding carry-ons does your family bring one

carry-on per person or you just do one for the whole family

so Nana M what we do is we generally take one rolling carry-on for the whole

family and then every other member of our family carries a relatively small

and not super-heavy backpack I generally ditch my purse I don't like to travel

with the purse and I make a mini shoulder bag or just put my wallet and

car keys into my backpack and that usually works just fine for us so

hopefully that gives you some clarity on how we handle our carry-on situation

next one today guys is from the Recon one a CT TV sup guys got a question my

wife and I are cruising in December Jamaica Greg came in Cozumel you always

mention not chica comb it's listed as a beach club and watersports center in

Cosmo I'm assuming it's not part of carnivals group excursions Carnival has

chalkin of beach day I see it looks like both places are this

area not sure if they're the same so to my actual question what is the cost if

not she could come for two adults is it all-inclusive if not what is included

how does one look it thanks for your response so basically what you want to

do the Recon 1a is you want to book it by going to Cozumel not chica comb calm

it is 55 dollars per person for adults kids are cheaper it is all-inclusive all

the food all the drinks and all of the activities except like you know you want

to go on a banana boat ride or rent snorkeling equipment or something like

that but that fifty five dollars is well worth it it's a very tranquil beautiful

beach it's a calm kind of quiet experience they also have a pool in the

hot tub now I did a little research on chop knob and I don't know if I'm saying

that right please forgive me guys I've never been there but it looks like

that's a really interesting place to and chunk a knob is $21 per adult but it

looks like the only things that are included in your admission there are

hammocks the beach snorkeling beach volleyball snorkeling tours the lagoon

and things like that but for extra cost you can rent snorkel equipment do scuba

scuba C tracks animal interactions like dolphins and sea lions or go to the bars

and restaurants now the bars and restaurants are probably where you'd

spend the most money I guess you have to weigh out the pros and cons I've heard

good things about chalk enough but I've never been so let me know what you

decide to do and how it goes and send me some pictures on Facebook when you get

back now we have to help some of our subscribers out this week you guys we

need to help Brad Audrey and Pam's first up we're going to help Brad Brad says I

have a question for your viewers I'll be sailing in January for the first time

out of New York City any tips or suggestions Norwegian Breakaway 14 days

Southern Caribbean oh that sounds a good Brad should I

allow myself extra time then I would say in Miami

Tampa Tampa or Port Canaveral thank you so let him know guys again he's doing 14

days Southern Caribbean so once some tips or suggestions and that is a cruise

out of New York City and should he spend extra time in Tampa Miami or Port

Canaveral okay now let's help pam pam want some

advice on excursions in Antigua st. Lucia Barbados and st. kick they like to

snorkel and lay on the beach and they want to know if any of these

ports are like grand turf where you literally just walk off the top and

there's a fantastic beach right there if not any suggestions they do also like to

paddleboard and kayak so again those ports that Pam needs help with guys

Antigua st. Lucia Barbados and st. Kitts I have been to none of them so let's

help her out next we have another favor you have a lot of favors this week from

people that I don't have answers to s were throwing it out there to the

community Audrey Schoolcraft the paid cruisers I

have a question as anyone taken a discovery at sea on Princess Cruise Line

that did the stargazing at night hubby and I are interested but can't find any

reviews on it if it's good they actually turn off lights so you can see the stars

and galaxies galaxies or is it just a smokescreen to get people on board and

the discovery is just cheap theatrics I don't know miss Audrey but we will find

out and figure it out for you so everybody thank you so much for your

patience in my low-tech environment without my husband here I don't really

have all the proper lighting and tools and hey we're making it work so we

appreciate you all so much thank you for being the kindest most wonderful YouTube

community thank you all so much for helping us get to 20,000 subscribers you

enjoyed this video give it a big fat thumbs up and until next time we'll see

you on the high seas or on our next live stream September 9th noon pacific time

Oh

Calling scientists of all colors | Science News for Students - Duration: 6:21.

[music]

Monifa Vaughn-Cooke and Alberto Bolatto

have really cool jobs —

Monifa uses virtual reality to train people doing work

that involves life-or-death decisions,

and Alberto is studying how galaxies are born.

You know, no big deal.

I talked to them about their research

and the importance of diversity in science.

So VR is by most people known primarily

in the gaming space.

But what a lot of people don't know is that it's used

a lot now in research. It's being used now for training.

We use virtual reality in situations

where it might not be feasible or it might not be advisable.

to go into the actual scenario and interact with individuals

Think about a pilot interacting with a cockpit interface.

You don't really want to go in there and run a study

to assess their performance while they're trying to operate a plane.

Planes are just one of the high-stress settings that Monifa simulates in VR.

She's also created simulations for nuclear control rooms,

intense group therapy sessions and even hospitals.

What they have in some of these larger hospitals

is something called a telemetry room.

Which is basically a control room where you have a bunch of operators,

called telemetry operators, who monitor several patients.

For example, you can have up to 64 patients

in some of these larger telemetry bed hospitals

monitored by just one operator.

And in the case of a patient who's maybe being monitored

in a post-operative setting, seconds matter.

Instead of going into the actual environment,

we can simulate the distractions, the alarm timing,

the auditory and visual signals, in a repeatable,

controlled laboratory simulation

and then we can look at how an operator

might respond to those:

timing, accuracy and their workload.

Alberto uses really big radio telescopes

to answer some really big questions.

What I try to do is I try to understand how the universe

came to look as it does today.

So my personal interest

is in understanding how galaxies evolved through time.

You know galaxies are some of the coolest objects that I can look at.

Like all kids interested in astronomy,

I was interesting the in the majesty of the universe.

And you know, all those wonderful pictures of galaxies

taken with large telescopes.

Alberto's first experience using one of these telescopes was... unique.

After he left his native Uruguay to come to the United States

to pursue his Ph.D, he got an opportunity

to work on a telescope in a really far-flung place.

You had the chance to actually go to Antarctica.

The telescope was going to be there at the South Pole.

What could be more exciting than getting into a Hercules C-130

and flying to McMurdo [Station] on the coast

and then taking another one to fly to the center of the continent

and spending weeks at a time

working in, you know, the center of Antarctica.

It was a wonderful hook into becoming

more of an expert on galaxies

and the interstellar medium and how stars form

and what is the chemistry, in you know,

clouds in between the stars.

I also spoke with Dr. Shirley Malcom —

a longtime advocate for diversity in science —

about the importance of making science open to everybody.

We have a lot of big challenges.

We're looking at climate change.

We're looking at feeding an ever-growing population.

Food security.

We are never really going to be able to

address those goals without diverse populations

really putting their minds to this.

We need different perspectives.

We need different experiences.

We need different points of view, different lenses,

all coming to bear on these really, really serious,

big challenges.

The more perspectives that you have,

the more diverse perspectives you have,

the more innovative solutions you can come up with.

And those different viewpoints come from the fact that

they have different technical backgrounds,

you know, they come from different cultures,

and they see the problems in different ways.

So I think that, that is the value of diversity in these contexts.

I have said on many occasions

that there's talent going to waste.

And that we need that talent.

We need to bring that talent into science,

engineering and mathematics.

Into invention and innovation.

Well, I think one of the hurdles

facing people of color in STEM fields is visibility.

So if you don't see anyone that looks like you

pursuing something,

it's not seen as...

it's not seen as a field that might be attainable.

It's very difficult to become something you've never seen.

Um...

I had to become something I'd never seen,

and it makes it real hard if you know

that you are plowing new ground.

With more individuals now going into STEM

who are of color, I think that's helping visibility a bit.

That's also helping some of the younger children to see

that, that this might be a pathway

that is feasible for them to pursue.

I could argue that we need to be able to have more

women or minorities or persons with disabilities

or low income or other people

being able to enter the sciences and engineering

because its the right thing to do.

It is the right thing to do.

The circumstances that that have held people back

from being able to go into these fields need to be removed.

The barriers need to be removed.

But it isn't just the right thing to do.

It's the smart thing to do.

And smart in the sense of having that talent available

to you to address the big issues.

Health. Food. Energy. Climate.

Those things are going to be with us for a while,

and we're going to have to deal with them.

Allen Jackson, Words Matter: Part 5, Opportunity for All - Duration: 1:55.

Hey, we're talking about words that matter and how much words matter.

The amazing part of this is the opportunity that's

been given to you and me. God's given us the ability to use words.

What a gift! You know, I think sometimes we miss that,

because we all come to words in a different way.

Some of us more sophisticated, some of us more plainly,

some of us with an accent. I live in Tennessee. Wherever

I go in the world people go, "You talk funny." And I go, "Yeah, I

know, y'all, but I still have words and

the authority that comes with them, and

so to you." I would just invite you to the miracle

of that, and to the sacredness of that, and to the

incredible trust and gift that is reflected in that.

The wealthiest person among us has words

and so does the poorest, and in both occasions,

there's authority invested. It's an equalizer.

We have words to use. You say, "Well, nobody cares

about my words." Your words carry spiritual authority whether you

recognize that they matter to people or not.

It isn't about a podium, or a platform, or how many friends you have

in social media—it's something given to you and to me by Almighty God.

Listen to a couple of things the scripture says about our words.

In Proverbs 12 it says, "Reckless words pierce like a sword."

It doesn't say reckless words pierce if you're wealthy,

or powerful, or articulate—it says your words have potential to do

good or to do damage. In Proverbs 15 is says,

"The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life". You can choose your words

to bring healing. What a great gift. It's an empowering thing.

Your words—they matter.

Become more conscious of that and every day say,

God let me use my words to be a blessing, and a gift, and a point of

healing in the lives of other people.

I want to pray. God give us an awareness that our words matter to you and to us.

That we're writing a future with the words we use today.

In Jesus' name, Amen. God Bless you!

The 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Will Take Place in Shanghai For The First Time Ever - Duration: 2:17.

The 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Will Take Place in Shanghai For The First Time Ever

The Victoria's Secret Angels have seen London and they've seen France — and now, they're heading to China to walk (in their underpants) in the first ever Victoria's Secret fashion show in Shanghai.

After years of filming the iconic fashion show in New York City, the lingerie spectacle moved to London before briefly returning to New York and then heading to Paris last year.

Prior to that, models have traveled to Cannes, Los Angeles, and Miami to walk the runway.

But this year, the team of around 50 models is set to head across the world to Shanghai for the annual show which airs on November 28.

The brand has confirmed that winged runway vets Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Lily Aldridge will star in the show,.

as well as new moms Behati Prinsloo and Candice Swanepoel who are making their return to the catwalk after sitting out last year's show just months after giving birth to their daughter and son, respectively.

Also in the lineup is Gigi Hadid, who confirmed via Instagram that she'll be walking in the show for the third time, and her sister Bella, who made her debut on the brand's catwalk in Paris last year.

oining them will be Stella Maxwell, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio and Taylor Hill, among other newcomers.

Identify and Understand threats with Watson for Cyber Security - Duration: 1:39.

Introducing Watson the cybersecurity

Watson builds its corpus of knowledge by constantly ingesting information

from data such as feeds, blogs, reports and advisories that it parses on the internet.

It then constructs a security knowledge graph by identifying relationships between various entities

along with supporting evidence and confidence ratings to find paths and links easily missed by humans

Let's look at how Watson investigates an offense in QRadar

that consists of a proxy log and a suspicious downloaded file.

QRadar Advisor first performs data mining in QRadar's enormous data lake

and extracts observables from suspicious behavior related to the victim machine

to perform threat discovery for Watson, which in turn taps into its vast corpus of knowledge.

Watson then constructs the threat insights graph

and also uses reasoning to find additional insights

and threat entities related to the original offense,

such as malicious files, suspicious IP addresses, rogue entities and their relationships.

QRadar Advisor then prunes this information to zero in on key insights

and qualify the incident, identifying the root cause.

Respond to threats with greater speed, scale and confidence.

Victoria's Secret models slay the streets of NYC as they arrive for their very first fittings - Duration: 1:36.

Victoria's Secret models slay the streets of NYC as they arrive for their very first fittings

After the lingerie brand announced its lineup for the 2017 show (location is still TBD), the confirmed models have already begun showing up at the Victorias Secret headquarters near Times Square for fittings.

Paparazzi camped outside of the building and captured the VS models dramatic entrances, and we wish we looked that flawless walking into work every morning. Bella Hadid went braless in a nude bodysuit -- and it definitely turned quite a few heads.

Meanwhile, sister Gigi, who confirmed on Monday that she will be in the show for the third year in a row, rocked a head-to-toe nude look.

Victorias Secret Angel Adriana Lima looked fierce in an all-black outfit -- an off-the-shoulder body con top, a leather skirt and some sky-high stiletto boots. Sara Sampaio looked very on-trend, rocking a see-through shirt with some sexy lingerie underneath.

Martha Hunt, Candice Swanepoel and Stella Maxwell also turned heads with their street style. Check out the slideshow above for more models on the streets.

Merkel plots EU's TOTAL CONTROL: German leader launches bid for MORE Eurozone integration - Duration: 3:31.

Merkel plots EU's TOTAL CONTROL: German leader launches bid for MORE Eurozone integration

The German Chancellor today backed proposals to create a combined Eurozone economics and finance minister and a European Monetary Fund.

The proposed fund would replace the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), a rescue facility set up in 2012 to help defuse the  crisis. French president and s Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble had previously urged Mrs Merkel to support the idea.

Mrs Merkel, 63, hopes the plans will protect the currency union against future crises. She said: I think the suggestion from Wolfgang Schaeuble to turn the ESM into a European Monetary Fund is a very good idea.

We would be able to show the world that we have all the mechanisms in our eurozone portfolio to be able to react to unexpected situations..

The Chancellor said the proposed economics and finance minister would provide greater coherence in economic policy across the eurozone.

She told a press conference in Berlin: They dont have to be the same, but they must be similar. And she backed the idea of a euro-budget which would provide funds to countries undergoing painful economic reforms.

Mrs Merkel went on to dismiss fears about the state of the eurozone, saying it has positive data after years of economic crisis.

She said: All Eurozone member states are showing economic growth, including Greece. I think that were in a much better position today than we were a year ago, when I was a lot more worried and I wish Greece every success.  I know that it is very, very difficult for many people but I think that Greece will also benefit from more jobs and then gradually from more prosperity..

The Chancellor, who is standing for a record fourth term in next months election, went on to defended Germanys sky-high trade surplus.

She told reporters: If the exchange rate is very low then it is easier for German exporters to place their products on the global market.

Every change in the euro exchange rate has an impact on our ability to export and of course puts new pressure on our competitiveness. I personally dont see the trade surplus per se as so dramatic.

If the trade surplus goes down now, it is part of things that we dont have any influence on at all..
