When is the Princess Diana documentary on the BBC? - Mullu TV - Duration: 2:16.

When is the Princess Diana documentary on the BBC?

William and Harry have filmed a series of documentaries to mark the 20th anniversary of their mother's death. The princes have already discussed the last words they shared with their mother for an ITV film, which aired on July 24.

Now they will appear in a BBC documentary called Diana, 7 Days. The feature-length film promises to tell the "inside story" of the tumultuous week that followed Princess Diana's death and will explore how the tragedy has changed Britain.

Diana, 7 Days includes in-depth interviews with her sons, speaking in detail about the weeks events from the moment they heard the news of their mothers death to the day of the funeral.

In a powerful trailer, Prince Harry said: "I remember people's hands were wet because of the tears they had just wiped away from their face".

Prince William recalled that walking behind his mothers coffin at the funeral was one of "hardest things hes ever done". "It felt like she was almost walking along beside us," he added.

When will the Princess Diana documentary be released?

Diana, 7 Days, will air on BBC One at 7. 30pm on August 27, just four days before the anniversiary of her death.

Viewers will hear personal insights from some of those who were caught in the eye of the storm - many of whom have never spoken publicly about Diana's death.

As well as William and Harry, interviewees include Diana's siblings, former members of the Royal Household and former Prime Minister Tony Blair - who occupied 10 Downing Street at the time of the princess's death.

In the feature-length documentary Prince William will say: "Part of the reason why Harry and I want to do this is because we feel we owe it to her.

I think an element of it is feeling like we let her down when we were younger. We couldnt protect her.

We feel we at least owe her 20 years on to stand up for her name and remind everybody of the character and person that she was.

The documentary was announced as part of 35 hours of new commissions across history, science, religion, documentaries and factual entertainment on the BBC.

Alison Kirkham, controller of factual commissioning for the BBC, said: "We are living in a period of seismic change when it feels harder than ever to get to grips with what is happening around us.

The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry say are taking part because they want to "stand up for her name".
