happy 2018 hey what's up guys my name is Shane Viaene for those of you

that a new for those of you that are not welcome back to my channel so what I'm going to be

doing today is doing my 2018 new year's resolution goals so basically I'm

telling you guys my new year's resolution so I can help inspire you

guys with New Year's resolutions because I don't sometimes they're really hard to

keep up with and also I'm doing it so you guys can keep me accountable because

some of them are YouTube and social media related so I want you guys to help

with that as well so my first New Year's resolution is to

take notes more so that's why I have this book and also they're all written

in this book as well so my 2018 New Year's resolutions my first New Year's

resolution is to go to the gym because I want to and I know a lot of people are

like oh yeah I want to go to the gym I want to just like I feel a lot of time

they feel the pressure to go to the gym because I have a membership and I want

to like get my money out of it so I want to obviously get my money out of it but

also I feel like I want to go Jews to improve my overall health and well-being

as a person so yeah my second goal for 2018 is to post on YouTube more I feel

like I've been slacking this whole year and I apologize to you guys so that's

why I'm trying to post more regularly on YouTube I have a bunch of new ideas

coming for you guys in 2018 and I want you guys keep me accountable tweet me

snapchat me and tell me I'm not uploading just tell me I thought I need

to upload and yeah so I hope you guys keep me accountable

so I third goal for 2018 is to read my Bible more I just recently got about for

my good friend fist and here it is it's great and it has like a really cool

finish to it so I just want to really get into the Bible more and read the

Bible more because I want to get deeper into my faith and along with reading my

Bible more so number four would be getting deeper with my small group we

have recently joined our small group in september/october ich area and I would

just wanted to go deeper like get in the deeper spiritual connection with them

and so I feel like for Christians especially it is a very good to come

together in community and just a small group of like-minded Christians as a

good support system for your face so the next one is I want to get involved with

my family more like I am super involved with my family but

we don't like go out and do stuff together we're all just like sit in

chill which is a lot of fun but I want to go out and like explore like do

things with my family and just basically just spend more quality time with my

family and the next goal for 2018 is I want to read more books I feel like I

actually actually just did this I bought a book and I didn't read it because I

don't have time but I think I need to like make time in my day for reading I

don't think I actually know this I need to make time for reading in my day I

think reading is just really good for not only like your growth mentally but

also like helps you helps your vocab you go bigger and your imagination so here's

a goal for you guys maybe you can write this down try to read it like 10 minutes

a day if you guys are like into reading if you are maybe 30 minutes like that

that's something like that could be really really attainable because 30

minutes of your day they go out is not that much so try 10 minutes a day and

then work your way up to like 30 or 40 maybe if you try so yeah that's a goal

for you guys for 2018 and then if you guys are going to which I really really

highly recommend you do comment that down below what you guys are going to be

reading in the new year because I need a new book to read obviously because I

don't read that much so the next one is to be confident in my body and I know a

lot of people might be like well you have a good body book but I just don't

feel super confident in my body and I really want to work on that 2018 I did

in 2017 I think I got pretty good but I just want to like get to the point where

I'm like super confident my body I'm like don't care what people say about it

because I think I have a good body but like sometimes I'm like do I really so I

think that's really important just to have like a good self-image of yourself

and I think reading this will help me on that another one that I find is really

really important is you're just fine joy not happiness joy because joy is a

choice happiness is a feeling I want to find joy in the small things just like

everyday simple things like coffee in the morning or like reading my book or

small times alone I want to find joy in those moments because I think a lot of

us especially in this day and age of like social media like happening quick

and happening fast we don't take time for joy and like the little moments in

our lives so I really want to just appreciate all of little moments in 2018

which I know it's gonna be super hard to because oh like life moves so fast but I

just want to sit down and just enjoy the small moments and so my last goal for

2018 is to be on social media less and that doesn't mean posting less or doing

less that just means like when you post something

host it and then like get off social media for a little bit and do something

else maybe stalk somebody less because we all know we enjoy a good in stalking

maybe maybe spend less time on Instagram because I know I spend so much time on

the explore page was scrolling through and scrolling through like mindlessly

and I just want to like get rid of that and find time for other things like

maybe reading a book maybe reading a Bible like going out and doing something

that you find is meaningful that's like not in the social world that actually

like means something like in this world so anyway that is all I have for this

video I hope you guys really did enjoy it you guys got some goals for 2018 out

of it because I know sometimes goals are hard like I said in the beginning but I

hope this gave you guys a few ideas and maybe you guys took some of my ideas and

First Picture of Black Hole Update for 2018 - Duration: 4:04.

In April of 2017, astronomers from the Event Horizon Telescope team collected the data

needed to form the first picture of a black hole and very soon they will have analysed

all the data and have the first picture of a black hole.

The estimated time of when the picture will be ready have just been released, but before

we discuss that, let's first discuss a little about the project.

The array of telescopes were focused on two black holes.

The main focus was on the supermassive black hole in the centre of the Milky Way, Sagittarius

A*.

Sgr A* is 26,000 light years away at the very heart of our galaxy and has a mass of four

million suns.

They were also aiming the telescopes at the black hole in the centre of the galaxy M87,

also known as Virgo A. M87 is a very large elliptical galaxy and is located 54 million

light years away from Earth.

The most common question that gets asked on the topic of photographing a black hole, is

how can you take a picture of a black hole if we can't see black holes?

We see celestial bodies, such as the Moon, because light reflects off it and reaches

our eyes.

The problem is, light can't reflect off a black hole because of the black hole's exceptionally

strong gravitational pull that does not let anything escape, not even light the fastest

thing in the universe.

Black holes just take in the light; they don't reflect or emit any electromagnetic waves,

apart from Hawking radiation but that's most likely too small to detect.

However, we can see the effects of black holes.

One way is observing the effects of black holes on other objects, such as on a star.

Another way is detecting gravitational waves, when two black holes collide and merge.

Observing the effects of a black hole is essentially how EHT took a photo of a black hole.

We won't be able to see the black hole, but instead its event horizon.

The Event Horizon Telescope isn't just one telescope.

EHT actually consists of many telescopes scattered all around the world.

Some of the locations where the telescopes are located are Chile, Hawaii, Arizona, Spain,

Mexico and there's even a telescope involved that's in the South Pole!

All the radio telescopes come together and work as one large global array.

And by using a technique called very-long-baseline interferometry, or VLBI, the Event Horizon

Telescope team point every telescope into one gigantic telescope.

Interferometry doesn't use visible wavelengths, but in fact it uses radio wavelengths.

The joint effort of all the telescopes creates a virtual telescope the size of Earth, the

size needed to take a 'picture' of something that far away.

By using this giant collaboration of telescopes we will hopefully see the dark, rounded shadow

of the event horizon of Sgr A*.

So, if all goes well, when will we see this picture?

Well, about a week ago, EHT posted an update.

They said that every telescope successfully collected hundreds of terabytes of data in

April.

Each telescope hasn't got the equipment to process the data so all the hard drives

need to be sent to the MIT Haystack observatory in Massachusetts, where they'll be able

to correlate and analyse all the data.

Every telescope has sent their data except from the South Pole.

This is why it has taken so long.

Over the last few months, the EHT team has been waiting for the arrival of the data from

the South Pole.

Because of the extreme weather there, there are no flights from February to October so

they've not been able to transport the data.

That was until early November when the data was sent, and it finally arrived about a week

ago.

This data, along with the rest of the data, will be processed and compared, which will

take about 3 weeks.

After that, the final analysis of the data will begin.

So if a picture is formed, it won't be that long until we see it!
