Teen Is Starving and Homeless – Gets Confused When Custodian Brings Him To Her 'Other'

Closet For the past three years, Carolyn Collins,

a custodian at Tucker High School, has been making a difference in students' lives through

something she calls 'The Care Closet."The Care Closet is a custodian closet that has

been transformed into a stockpile of free supplies for homeless students.

She always makes sure to keep it full, using her own money to buy most of the items.Carolyn

came up with the idea three years ago when she was approached by two homeless students

who told her they were hungry and had nowhere to go.

"These are our babies.

They just want to learn and, you know, some are sleeping in a car, some are sleeping in

hotels, and I just want to take care of them," Carolyn told 11Alive.

"I tell the teachers a lot, if you see a child always with their head down, with the

same clothes on repeatedly, day after day, you know, let me know."

Carolyn lost her son 3 years ago; he was a victim of a home invasion and he is a big

reason why Carolyn started the Care Closet.

"I'm just trying to stop our young boys from stealing and killing," she told 11Alive.

"Because they're homeless and they're crying out for help and love, and I'm trying

to give them all they need in this closet so [they] don't have to go out and try and

steal and take from no one."

Every school year, Carolyn helps roughly 20 to 30 students; however, she suspects the

number of kids in need is actually much bigger— and, if statistics are any indication, she

is 100% right.

According to the National Centre for Education, during the 2014-2015 school year, more than

1.2 MILLION public elementary and secondary school students in the United States were

homeless.

Out of this group, 82,000 were living in hotels or motels; 180,000 were staying in shelters,

transitional housing or awaiting foster care placement; and 39,000 had no roof over their

heads at all.

The Atlantic states that these figures have actually doubled in the past decade.

"Students who don't have a stable place to go after school and at night are more likely

to do poorly in class and more likely to drop out of school altogether, which means they

are less likely to go to college, to find good employment, and to lead productive adult

lives," reports The Atlantic. The numbers show that homeless students are a real issue

in this country, something that makes Carolyn's Care Closet all the more meaningful.

In fact, Carolyn's special became one of the most watched stories on 11Alive, even

prompting a woman named La Detra White to surprise her with more than $1,300 worth of

cash and gifts to go towards her supply.Carolyn's selflessness is a true representation of the

holiday spirit, and the difference she makes in these children's lives is truly admirable.

Baby Boy Is Born Without Arms Or Legs – Watch The Tearful Moment He 'Walks' For The First Time - Duration: 3:20.

Baby Boy Is Born Without Arms Or Legs – Watch The Tearful Moment He 'Walks' For The

First Time Katie Whiddon and her boyfriend broke down

in tears after they watched their 4-year-old son walk for the first time.

You might think that 4-years-old seems a little late for a child to start walking for the

first time, but what made this moment so emotional and so special is the fact that the little

boy doesn't have any arms or legs.

Whiddon was only 18 weeks pregnant when she went to the doctor for an ultrasound and received

devastating news.

Their son, Camden, wasn't developing any limbs — he was diagnosed with a condition

called amelia-phocomelia.After the diagnosis, the mother of three was afraid that her son

would struggle to do even the simplest of tasks throughout life.

"When I first found out he wouldn't have arms or legs, I thought that he would just

be a vegetable … I didn't know what to expect," she told People.

"I had just turned 19 and I didn't know, 'Am I gonna be able to be good enough for

him?'

" Despite her fears, Camden was going to prove

to be an extremely brave, strong, and inspiring little boy.

Nothing was going to stop him or slow him down in this world.

"When he was around 2 months old, I had him laying on my bed…I saw him out the corner

of my eye and he was hitting the toys with his arms.

I started to cry, I was just so happy and that confirmed that he was gonna be able to

do things."Camden is seen standing in front of Whiddon's boyfriend, Cole Greene; Greene

encourages the adorable little boy as his sister cheers him on in the background.

"I'm coming to you!"

Camden says excitedly.

"I'm walking!"

After sliding across the floor, Camden makes it to his dad and his 3-year-old sister, Ryleigh,

jumps in excitement for his big brother.

It was such a magical moment that proved to everyone in the room that Camden could conquer

and accomplish anything his little heart desired.During the emotional video, both Greene and Camden

are ecstatic because he's "walking like Nick," referring to motivational speaker

and author Nick Vujicic who was born with a similar syndrome as Camden.

"We started crying, we were so proud," Whiddon said about the inspiring moment.

"I didn't know when that day would come.

I didn't think he was ready for it yet and I was just so shocked and happy.

It was so exciting and Ryleigh was over there jumping, excited."

Camden's incredible feat was filmed and posted on Facebook.

It has since been viewed and shared thousands of times.

Whiddon is confident that her strong and determined little boy is going to do great things in

the world.Call it mother's intuition, but I feel like he's gonna be one of those motivational

speakers and now, giving him the exposure will give him a platform so when he's ready

to speak for himself he will have people who actually want to listen to him and care about

what he has to say."

There's no doubt the Camden is destined for greatness.

When you watch the video below, you'll find yourself tearing up as well.

What is Your YouTube Goal? [2018] - Duration: 5:16.

Why do we make YouTube videos?

Is it for fame or fortune or is it for some higher purpose?

Deep down I think every video creator makes videos because they want to make a personal,

emotional connection with the viewer, whoever they are, wherever they may be.

Whether it's to educate people to help them better themselves, inspire people to go beyond

their expectations or express a different way of thinking that makes the viewer question

what they understand about themselves and the universe that surrounds them each and

everyone of us has a message we want to share with people we may never even see.

With over a billion active users watching more than 300 hours of content that's uploaded

every single minute, YouTube truly is the world's open video platform.

If you have a camera, a voice and an idea, someone, somewhere in the world will see it

and hear it.

The question is who do you want to speak to and why?

Fellow video creator Tim Schmoyer summed this up better than I ever could.

Who should be watching and why should they care.

You can't appeal to everyone on YouTube,

Only a fraction of the audience will share your interests and understand your message.

Even YouTube's biggest channels are but a tiny drop in this social media ocean.

But each successful YouTuber knows exactly who they want to speak to and what message

they want to share.

They share it loudly, proudly, passionately and truly live their message each and everyday

with the content they produce and whether you agree with them of not, there are millions

of viewers out there who get their message and want to be a part of it

So if there is one goal above all others that you should have in 2018 it's to find your

audience and spread a message that you truly believe in.

I recently asked YouTubers in our community to share their channel message and this one

spoke out to me more than any other.

It raises a question, it tells you who they are, what they about and why you should care.

A family seeking a life of freedom, venturing into the unknown with challenges to face.

This is a story I want to know more about.

Now this is a small channel, it may never reach out to millions of viewers, but it will

touch the hearts of those who do watch because it's a story about people

These people are now part of a community who want to share that message of freedom and

adventure

And that message has power to change people's lives that is the best feeling in any video

creator's life

The great thing about YouTube is that it's anything and everything you want it to be.

Every video creator starts at zero and we all aim for something, whether it be 10 subscribers,

1000 subscribers, even a million subscribers.

Just make sure it's what you want and not what someone else has.

This story is your story and you are the only one who can tell it, so tell it the best way

you can.

Challenge your own boundaries and make 2018 the year you break through your own fears.

If that means stepping in front the lens for the first to connect personally with your

audience go for it.

If that means live streaming to your viewers without the safety net of a video editor where

people get to see you and all your vulnerabilities go for it.

If that means stepping out into the world and not caring what anyone thinks, you go

for it

If that means learning a new way to film, or mastering a new piece of software or reaching

out to other YouTubers and collaborating, well I think you know what I'm going to say

by now, go for it.

As you well now, the message we spread on this channel is to help you, the video creator,

get more views in less time.

We can tell you how enhance SEO for your videos, we can teach you the value of playlists, we

can help research trending topics and how to capitalize on them, but what we can't tell

you is your story.

Everytime you click on one of our videos you see another small part of our story.

Our story has grown and evolved into something we never could have imagined over 2017 and

we can't wait to start writing new chapters for 2018.

We know who is watching our videos and who is using our tools.

You help shape this story like all viewers, subscribers and commenters on any Youtube

channel.

That ultimately is the end goal.

We know why you care.

Enjoy your video making year...

make it the best one yet.
