Good morning, Piter!
What's up?
We decided to go to Saint Petersburg and just arrived this morning.
Likely, it's a nicer day today.
Sun is shining.
Cause over night we had a thunderstorm in there and rain.
I was like, I hope it's not raining today.
But it's not!
We went right through it and now we are in the summer again.
So we just had our breakfast in this kind of soviet-styled cafe "Stolovaya #1"
and now we are just walking around and heading to Hermitage.
Because it's Sunday and it's open, and tomorrow on Monday it's closed.
So we wanna see it first.
See you there!
Fontanka river.
And here we go.
One of the wonders of the world - Winter Palace!
This is where Russian emperors lived.. and now we have one of the greatest Art Museums
here.
Follow along.
The art is really incredible here.
Sometimes the decorations of the room, they look even better than the art itself.
I loved it.
- Did you like it?
- Yes, very good.
I can't imagine living here in this place and just walking the stairs every day.. it's incredible.
It's kind of freezing here, so we got ourselves some sweatshirts - I love Piter.
They are so comfy and warm.
Back to Hermitage for some more.
There are only two paintings like this.
One is here in Hermitage, and another one is in MOMA in New York.
I think I saw both.
We are here watching a one actor show reading poetry of famous Russian poet Sergey Yesenin.
Apparently, this place was open in 1912 and quite a few famous Russian poets red their
poetry for the first time here.
People like Mayakovsky, Ahmatova and others.
So this is a very historical place.
Also, I forgot that we have white nights here.
It's not gonna get dark tonight.
and I dressed to go out but it's already 10pm and it's not gonna get dark today.
So, I guess we have to deal with that)
We've arrived to Petergof.
It's the summer residence that Piter the 1st built for himself and he called it Mon Paradise
- My Paradise.
There are 200 fountains over here and most of them are just as pretty as this one.
And what's interesting is that they don't use mechanical force to make them work.
It's all physical laws.
So, you know, that cuts the cost a lot.
There's a ton of beautiful parks here.
Some of them use French style of architecture, some use German.
But they all are extremely beautiful, and they are meant to show the beauty and strength
of Russian Empire, as Piter I thought about it.
Apparently, Piter I was over 2 meters tall but he still preferred kind of small spaces
and he built one story palace for himself.
And this was the view.
Piter I liked to make fun of his guests and of people at court.
So in this park there are quite a few places where he got them completely wet.
And at that point people were wearing these hair pieces and dresses.
So a lady would sit on a bench and would be hoping to look at flowers and enjoy her time.
And then suddenly water would start pouring out of nowhere.
Also, there are these hidden fountains on the alleys and he would just have so much
fun with it.
He had a special place where he would activate them and he would just laugh out loud.
This is where his guests would arrive and they would just take a boat I'm guessing and
go directly to the palace.
Holland is where he studied the art of ship making, and that's where he got inspired to
build Russian Navy, to make it one of the greatest empires ever.
Petergof is definitely an incredible place worth seeing multiple times.
We haven't seen all of it and there is not enough time.
So definitely make your way here if you are in Saint Petersburg.
It's time to go home for us.
Maybe I'll make a vlog in my hometown, idk.
See you guys later though..
There are so many monuments here in St.Petersburg.
They are pretty much on every corner.
This one is to the emperess Katherine II, and there are her favourites over here such
as Potemkin, Rumyancev, and others.
It started to rain, so we went to drink some glentwein..
Poetry.
And right now the rain has stopped.
So we are back to it in the Admiralty area.
The last stop of the day is Literaturnoe Cafe.
Apparently, Alexander Pushkin was here at some point of his life.
It has a lot of history to it.
Right now we have piano and a singer is coming.
This is exactly where our famous poet Alexander Pushkin was sitting and drinking his lemonade
before he went to his duel with Dantes, and, unfortunately, passed away after that.
We drank, we ate, we sang, we did everything here in St.Petersburg. and this is the city
at night which is just completely different from what it looks like during the day.
Now we are ready to head home, home to Urdoma.. which is far away.
It's 22 hours on train from Moscow and it's one day and 2 hours - 26 hours on the train
from St.Petersburg! and we are taking it!
We are taking that train in the morning, we are gonna try to survive that train ride.
Oh man.
I never took a train ride this long, but I'll do it.
It's better that going to Moscow and then to my hometown or flying, because I can't
even fly there.
So..
And this is where we say goodbye to Saint Petersburg, to you guys.
I hope you enjoyed this vlog, it's been a long vlog.
See you later!
