The Easy Way To Tell If Someone Is A Narcissist

How do you spot a narcissist?

Well, a new study says that if you want to find out whether someone is a narcissist, just ask!

According to new research published Tuesday in the scientific journal PLOS ONE,

narcissists are more than happy to identify themselves as such — because, it seems,

they see nothing wrong with being a narcissist, and may even view the trait as positive or desirable.

After initially screening 2,250 research subjects for narcissism using an extensive diagnostic questionaire (a standard

psychological assessment), researchers were able to develop single question to test whether someone was a narcissist.

The results of the single question turned out to be surprisingly accurate.

So what was the one question that easily identifies a narcissist?

Well, trial participants were asked to rate how much they agree with the following statement on a seven-point scale:

To what extent do you agree with this statement: 'I am a narcissist?' (Note: The word 'narcissist' means egotistical,

self-focused, and vain.)

Those who agreed with a strength of six or seven had already been found to be narcissists by alternative metrics.

According to the single question test, 5% of people are narcissists.

So if you have your suspicions, go ahead and ask someone, since they're so likely to tell you the truth!
