Waching daily Apr 5 2017

We've called her the future.

She's really the now

of competitive snowboarding.

Chloe Kim, the Golden One.

Last time around when they were picking

the U.S. Olympic team,

she would have qualified based on points

but she was in fact too young

to compete in the olympics.

Don't you hate when that happens?

When you're on a snowboard, you're gonna

strap in,

you're gonna feel a little weird

because you're standing sideways,

you might fall over a few times.

You're dropping in pretty fast.

You're gonna feel the friction,

you're gonna feel the movement,

the momentum.

When you go up the wall it's like...

pretty insane.

You're gonna feel the g-forces

working against ya.

It's kind of like a roller coaster.

There's a lot of spinning.

You look down and you're just...

going in circles.

You see a lot of blurs.

It doesn't feel like you're hanging upside down.

It's the Burton U.S. Open Women's Halfpipe

final, the most prestigious title

of the winter season.

My main goal for this competition

is just to put down a solid run

that I'm happy with.

Being super chill and laid back,

not being too stressed,

just finding that happy place

and staying there.

Having fun is my greatest strategy.

I have known Chloe since she was about

eleven years old.

I saw her riding in a snowboard contest

and was like...

"That girl's gonna be the next thing."

People use the term prodigy a lot.

She's unnaturally talented for someone that young.

When I'm just having fun I feel like

my riding's so much cleaner and I'm not as stiff.

Just relax.

My training regimen involves skateboarding,

trampolining, working out,

trying to eat healthy.

Trying, but not really.

I was stuck at the gym for a few months

for knee rehab.

I partially tore my ACL a couple of summers ago

and that was really hard.

I feel like we've all had moments where

we think about giving up.

I think every bad experience I've had has

been a learning experience.

Chloe is one of the true faces of progression.

All the young girls that are inspired by the

top level snowboarders see what she's doing

and see that it's possible.

It's gonna create insane talent in the future.

And when you look at her just from a technical

standpoint, what she is able to do on that

snowboard, how big she's able to go out

of this pipe.

Last year I was able to put down a pretty

solid run and I took home first.

She landed back-to-back 1080s

which means she did a 1080 degree rotation

and then landed backwards.

And then did a switch 1080 rotation,

which is insane.

The pressure is on Chloe Kim now, finally.

She's gotta deliver.

Fairly moderate backside air, not her biggest,

but a front side nine there from Chloe Kim.

Into a McTwist, so the game plan

for Chloe Kim out here today was,

"Let's not come out guns blazing."

When I was dropping in I was like…

You still did a better job so more of the same.

I'm hype, thank you.

Will we see some big spins?

There the front side 1080 from Chloe Kim.

So...McTwist.

That will be the highest scoring run.

An 86.8!

She's gonna go for it!

Frontside 1080

into a Cab 720.

Does she know that she has already won this?

Chloe Kim's victory laps have become legendary.

Chloe Kim, you have already grabbed your second

win at 16.

That's just nuts.

She will continue that progression.

The sky's the limit for Chloe Kim.

Pretty stoked on life.

Octopus DNA is Not of This World, Numerous Researchers Conclude - Duration: 4:55.

Octopus DNA is Not of This World, Numerous Researchers Conclude

After completely sequencing its genome, scientists reached an unexpected conclusion that

octopuses are entirely distinct from any other animals on Earth.

The results yielded astounding numbers over 33.000 protein-coding genes were identified.

Thats more than what human beings possess.

(scientists cant agree on either 14 or 25,000 genes)

Dr. Clifton Ragsdale, researcher at the University of Chicago offered extra details about the

significance of this find.

According to him, the octopus appears to be utterly different from all other animals,

even other molluscs, with its eight prehensile arms, its large brain and its clever problem-solving

abilities.

With 168 neuron-development regulating genes, almost twice the number found in any mammal,

and a neural grid consisting of 1/2 billion neurons scattered from head to the prehensile

arms, the octopus can easily outperform most marine creatures.

Their curious nervous system is ramified into their elongated arms, and if one gets dismembered,

the octopus is still able to use its cognitive abilities, as if it had an individual nervous

system in each of its arms.

Octopus DNA left scientists with a feeling that it was highly rearranged, similar to

a shuffled deck of cards.

This conclusion was based on the fact that octopus genetic code was discovered to

be comprised of a number of transposons, or jumping genes, that leaped across the

genome changing its structure.

With a few notable exceptions, the octopus basically has a typical invertebrate genome

thats just been completely rearranged, like its been put in a blender and mixed,

said Caroline Albertin, once of the marine biologists at the University of Chicago.

This leads to genes being placed in new genomic environments with different regulatory

elements, and was an entirely unexpected find.

Another interesting feature of this aquatic wonder is its ability to perfectly blend

in with ithe surroundings.

This chameleonic behavior is triggered by six protein genes named reflectins which

impacts the way light reflects off the octopus skin, thus turning it into assorted patterns

and textures that camouflage the octopus.

Part of the coleoid sub-class of the molluscs are the octopus, cuttlefish and squid.

These creatures evolved over a period of over 500 million years, and are known to inhabit

almost every body of water at nearly any depth.

Their adaptability consists in extremely flexible and fluid bodies, an insane visual system

which allows them to perceive colors although theyre technically colorblind, and of course

their camouflage native technique.

Octopuses received the alien label ever since late British zoologist Martin Wells

had studied them, but Charles Mudede warns not to interpret alienness as a matter

of DNA, but instead as a matter of diversity.

But, no matter how crazy an animals DNA might appear, it is probably from this planet

if its cells contain the energy-generating organelles called mitochondria, Mudede

wrote.

With all this out of this world evidence at hand, its hard not to see the otherworldly

traits of octopuses, especially their ability to redesign their DNA for a flawless life

experience and extreme survivability.

Could this be just a complex and misunderstood evolutionary process?

Or were these tentacled invertebrates brought to Earth from another place in the universe,

by some unknown civilization that we can only speculate of?

Whatever the case, its sure interesting to picture these unusual beings as the ancient

companions of an aquatic alien species from a remote past.

We cannot safely assume this was the case, but at the same time its hard to deny the

alien implications

in this story.

8 Impressive Benefits of Ghee (Clarified Butter) - Duration: 5:56.

While it's gaining in popularity in recent years, not everyone has heard of ghee; it's

a powerhouse of vitamins and acids which promote good health.

Ghee is its own unique class of butter.

When butter is boiled, milk solids caramelize and are removed.

Ghee is the concentrated residue of pure fats that remains.

It has a distinct nutty taste, and contains no trace of milk proteins, sugars or water.

It is one of the highest food sources of butyric acid and is bursting with vitamins and fatty

acids, both unsaturated and saturated.

It also loaded with omega 3 and 9.

Similar to butter, ghee must be consumed in moderation - no more than 3 or 4 teaspoons

daily.

Too much ghee can produce harmful effects.

In today's video, we will describe eight health benefits of including ghee in your

diet.

1.

Builds Strong Bones

Ghee is one of the few foods that is rich in vitamin K, especially vitamin K2.

Vitamin K2 is essential in helping the body utilize minerals, including calcium.

In fact, this potent vitamin builds bones more efficiently than calcium.

Maintaining a proper level can also protect against tooth decay.

Another function of ghee is to keep joints and connective tissues lubricated, increasing

flexibility.

2.

Immune System Booster

Ghee is brimming with vitamin A, which helps eliminate free radicals in the body.

Vitamin A is also tasked with keeping the immune system functioning properly.

That's not all; vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant that may help prevent certain

types of cancer, especially ulcerative colitis that could otherwise lead to colon cancer.

3.

Boosts Energy Level

Since experts recommend that athletes use ghee as a consistent energy source, perhaps

we should take the same advice.

The fatty acids in ghee are quickly processed by the liver and burned as energy.

Besides boosting metabolism and energy levels, ghee aids in the body's absorption of fat-soluble

vitamins like A, D, E and K, which enhance stamina.

4.

High Smoking Point

While being processed, ghee can endure a higher "smoking point" compared to coconut oil

or extra virgin olive oil.

This means when the temperature rises to the stratosphere – or 482 Fahrenheit – it

won't break into free radicals.

These villainous free radicals are unstable molecules that create havoc on our health,

from premature aging to cancer.

So when you consume ghee, your risk level of ingesting those villains are extremely

low.

5.

Improves the Digestive Tract

A 2000 study revealed that people with unhealthy digestive tracts don't naturally produce

butyric acid.

Since good digestion is a key to good health, it's essential to incorporate foods rich

in butyric acid into your diet to aid digestion.

This acid nourishes cells in the intestines, reduces leakage of undigested food particles

and aids in repair of the mucosal wall.

6.

Reduces Inflammation

Butyric acid is one of the major fatty acids that the body needs to fight inflammation,

especially in the gastrointestinal tract.

Patients suffering from ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease or other inflammatory bowel

diseases would be wise to include ghee in their diet.

And according to Ayurveda, gently rubbing ghee on cranky joints can help soothe inflammation,

lubricate joints and banish arthritis stiffness.

7.

Improves Eye Health

Vitamin A makes the list because of its ability to improve eye health and protect against

several eye-related health problems.

This powerful antioxidant aids in eliminating and neutralizing free radicals that attack

the macular cells.

This in turn reduces the risk of macular degeneration and the development of cataracts.

The fatty acid in ghee augments the body's absorption of this important vitamin as well

as other nutrients.

8.

Healthier Skin

Ghee's natural properties can keep skin moisturized over a long period of time.

It penetrates deep into the skin to keep it hydrated; dry skin accelerates premature aging,

including wrinkles, fine lines and saggy skin.

Here's how to apply ghee:

Warm a small amount of ghee until it's at a comfortable temperature and generously apply

to your skin.

Massage thoroughly for five minutes.

Wait ten minutes before showering.

Following this procedure daily will create lasting, glowing skin.

To treat chapped lips, apply a thin film and leave on overnight.

You can store ghee without refrigeration for years and it will still remain fresh.

Since the milk solids have been removed during the processing, ghee can be safely consumed

by people who are lactose intolerant.

Ghee is also an alternative for those who looking for a butter substitute.

Supervision is such a challenging,

interesting, important part of our work.

But it's something most of us never get

to study. Our supervision experience

influences our work with clients

profoundly. It affects our own

development, and it's really the hallmark

pedagogy of our field. But we get assigned to

supervise and we don't get trained.

That's why we created this program and

it's why I think our students have

really valued it. Social workers come

from all around the country. They step

away from demanding jobs and we gather

here on this lovely campus for a week of

intensive classes and case discussion.

You will form a cohort then which

supports you as you have a distance

learning experience - a monthly live video

case conference. Then you return the

following summer for a final weeks of

classes. We talk about organizational

demands and study in more depth the

dynamics and the challenges and

opportunities in this supervisory

relationship. Our participants have told

us that they found this program have a

really rich curriculum, applicable to

their work with excellent, engaged teaching. They

hve valued our balance of intellectual

challenge and interpersonal support,

which many of us are missing in our

workplaces. Folks tell us that their

experience was restorative. And we who

teach in this program, I have to say, we

love being a part of it. Please feel free

to contact me. I'm glad to talk with you

about the classes we offer and the material

we cover. Take a look at our website and

Alien Life and Intelligence Exists Beyond Our Solar System in Forms We Can't Conceive An Interview W - Duration: 4:05.

Alien Life and Intelligence Exists Beyond Our Solar System in Forms We Cant Conceive

An Interview With Britain's Top Astronomer WATCH Today's Galaxy Stream

"Aliens could exist in forms we can't conceive," says Martin Rees is Emeritus Professor of

Cosmology and Astrophysics, at the University of Cambridge, the Astronomer Royal, a member

of Britains House of Lords, and a former President of the Royal Society.

"They could be staring us in the face and we just dont recognize them.

The problem is that were looking for something very much like us, assuming that they at least

have something like the same mathematics and technology."

I suspect there could be life and intelligence out there in forms we cant conceive.

Just as a chimpanzee cant understand quantum theory, it could be there as aspects of reality

that are beyond the capacity of our brains.

An in-depth interview with Rees was conducted at Trinity College, Cambridge, by The Conversations

Matt Warren that covered a wide range of subjects including, the size of the universe and the

probability of machine intelligence.

The following is his reply to existence of advanced alien life in the cosmos.

We know now that planets exist around many, even most, stars.

We know that in our Milky Way galaxy there are likely millions of planets that are in

many ways like the Earth, with liquid water.

The question then is whether life has developed on them and we cant yet answer that.

Although we know how via Darwinian selection a complex biosphere evolved on Earth around

4 billion years ago, we dont yet understand the actual origin of life the transition

from complex chemistry to the first metabolizing, replicating structures.

The good news is that we will have a better idea of how that happened within the next

ten or 20 years and crucially, how likely it was to happen.

This will give us a better understanding of how likely it is to happen elsewhere.

In that time, we will also have technologies that will allow us to better search for alien

life.

But just because theres life elsewhere doesnt mean that there is intelligent life.

My guess is that if we do detect an alien intelligence, it will be nothing like us.

It will be some sort of electronic entity.

If we look at our history on Earth, it has taken about 4 billion years to get from the

first protozoa to our current, technological civilisation.

But if we look into the future, then its quite likely that within a few centuries,

machines will have taken over and they will then have billions of years ahead of

them.

In other words, the period of time occupied by organic intelligence is just a thin sliver

between early life and the long era of the machines.

Because such civilisations would develop at different rates, its extremely unlikely

that we will find intelligent life at the same stage of development as us.

More likely, that life will still be either far simpler, or an already fully electronic

intelligence.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month - Duration: 3:01.

A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THE GRILL

ON MAIN STREET.

MICHAELA: APRIL'S ALCOHOL

AWARENESS MONTH AND HERE THIS

MORNING TO SHARE MORE IS PETER,

THE CEO OF THE NICKEL SERVICES

OF RHODE ISLAND.

WELCOME BACK.

NICE OF YOU TO BE HERE, BECAUSE

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MONTH AND

AN IMPORTANT TOPIC.

IT IS IMPORTANT NOT ONLY TO HAVE

THAT DISCUSSION WITH YOUR

FRIENDS AND FAMILY BUT RAISE

AWARENESS.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE

IN OUR COUNTRY THERE IS OVER 50

MILLION PEOPLE WHO ARE AFFECTED

BY ALCOHOL.

IF BELOW 50 MILLION PEOPLE

HAVE

AN ALCOHOL USE DISORDER, ON A

REGULAR BASIS, 88,000 PEOPLE

DIED FROM AN ALCOHOL-RELATED

DEATH.

ALCOHOL HAS BECOME THE FOURTH

PREVENTABLE -- FOURTH LEADING

PREVENTIVE CAUSE OF DEATH.

MICHAELA: THERE ARE MANY THINGS

YOU CAN DO TO PREVENT THAT.

THOSE NUMBERS DON'T HAVE TO BE

SO HIGH.

I KNOW THERE ARE INSTANCES OUT

THERE WHERE IT IS CLEAR TO SEE

THAT SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE A

DRINKING PROBLEM.

MAYBE THEY ARE INTOXICATED ALL

THE TIME WITH BOTTLES LYING

AROUND BUT THAT IS NOT ALWAYS

THE CASE.

WHAT ARE SOME SIGNS THAT WE

SHOULD BE AWARE OF?

IN A WORK ENVIRONMENT YOU

MIGHT SEE SOMEONE WHO IS QUIET,

MORE DEPRESSED, MORE WITHDRAWN.

YOU MIGHT SEE THEIR PERFORMANCE

GO DOWN, YOU MIGHT SEE IN A

SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT THEY ARE NOT

SHOWING UP FOR CLASS, THEIR

SLEEP PATTERNS MIGHT CHANGE.

THE MOST OBVIOUS SIGNS WHEN YOU

SEE SOMEONE INTOXICATED MORE

OFTEN, THE AMOUNT OF DAYS THEY

ARE DRINKING MIGHT INCREASE.

IN SOME PEOPLE THEY MIGH

MORE IRRITABLE.

YOU MIGHT SEE SOME PEOPLE

GET

MORE VIOLENT.

THERE ARE SOME BIG CONCERNS.

SHOULD YOU START BY

ADDRESSING, SHOULD YOU TRY

HAVING THAT CONVERSATION BEFORE

YOU SAY WE NEED SOME SERIOUS

HELP?

THE BEST THING ANYONE CAN DO

IF YOU HAVE A LOVED ONE IS JUST

SPEAK THE TRUTH.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN TO BE USEFUL IS

IF SOME BUT HE SAYS, I AM

CONCERNED ABOUT YOU, I SEE,

THINGS ARE DIFFERENT, WOULD YOU

BE WILLING TO SPEAK TO SOMEBODY?

DID YOU SPEAK TO A PROFESSIONAL?

THERE IS A LOT OF SHAME AND

GUILT AND A LOT OF UNCOMFORTABLE

EMOTIONS THAT COME UP WHEN YOU

DEAL WITH ALCOHOLISM.

MANY PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO TALK

ABOUT IT.

BUT THEY DON'T WANT TO ADMIT

THAT.

SOMETIMES PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE

HEADSTRONG.

THEY COULD FEEL COMFORTABL

COMING TO A PLACE LIKE YOU.

WE HAVE OUTPATIENT

TREATMENT.

WE HAVE GROUPS THAT PEOPLE COULD

JUST COME INTO AND MOST PEOPLE

ARE VERY HAPPY THERE.

YOU CAN FIND WHATEVER WORKS

FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Secret to Increasing Your Closing Percentage | Durand on Demand 044 - Duration: 1:45.

So I'm going to talk to you about

something that can radically increase

your sales performance and it is very

simply this... if you're in sales or even

if you're in leadership or you have to

influence other people. There are two

different approaches that people take

one approach is a presentation approach.

It's a good approach. The best approach

is a presentation and sales approach.

What's the difference? A presentation

approach would be to say, "We have an

iPhone here, this is the iPhone, it

includes this, it includes that, and

includes this and includes that." Okay.

Now a lot of people would say that's

features selling where as sales selling,

selling-selling is actually benefit

selling. And it is true but you would go

well beyond that in fact if you're going

to truly be effective and that would be

to elevate your performance into the

opinion realm. What is the opinion realm?

You're at a restaurant they say you

could have this you're going to have

well what do you what would you get?

What do you like here? You actually have ask

the wait staff that as though you're going

to like the same things, but you still

ask. The doctor says you could or you

couldn't do this surgery and you say,

"Well, what would you do?" And you ask you

want to know. In a sales presentation

you're going to be much more effective

if you tell the customer your opinion

about it. So you would say, "Listen, not

only does it have those things but this

is ideal for you a person with your

interest. The way you do it, how you

navigate the tools you have, this is ideal.

I don't think you can go without this."

THAT is the difference between presenting and

selling. Elevate your game by sharing

your opinion. In a similar way, it's kind

of like having a relationship and loving

somebody but not telling them. Having a

compliment holding it back. Don't hold

these things back. They're heavy for

influence they're good for you, they're

good for them. Share your opinion

especially if it's a good one and you're

going to go further in sales.
