"Hello and welcome to my apartment!"

This balcony leads directly into the living room of Nina Salo's apartment.

It's located in Stockholm's historic center.

The room's central feature is a fireplace

"I just love fires.

It has been always one of my dreams to have a fireplace.

It is really one of those homey and cozy things that you get from a fireplace."

The living room is located on the apartment's second floor.

It also serves as Nina's home-office.

She's a TV producer.

The bathroom is down the hall.

This is the children's room.

There's lots of natural light here.

The children share a room -- because the whole apartment has just 90 square meters of living

space.

"For the time being they have to share.

And most of the time they are not even in the room to be honest.

It will be a problem.

But at their age right now it is not a problem.

The way I see it.

They disagree with me, but they have to live with it at the moment."

The parents' bedroom is actually part of the living room area.

Here too, there's plenty of natural light.

On the other hand, there's no door.

"The biggest issue is really not the kids but it is when my husband is watching television

or films late at night.

Then we fixed it by getting headphones."

This stairway leads to the lower floor.

Nina and her husband used to live in this part of the apartment all by themselves.

But 45 square meters wasn't enough for a growing family.

So they expanded into the loft apartment

that was one floor up.

"One of the main issues when we build this was storage.

So we were trying to be creative and find storage somewhere.

One of the things is that we used to have the bed in here behind us.

Since we did not need this any more we turned this into storage with these two big doors

to hide everything we have in there."

Here's the open kitchen.

The family gathers here often -- and in fact, they have no intention of moving to a larger

apartment.

Real estate prices in Stockholm are high -- so they'd have to move out of the center and

they don't want to do that.

"We like to be city slickers.

If we would like to go somewhere it would be completely somewhere else like to the country

side."

But for the time being, they'll stay right here -- in central Stockholm.

the 3D model ''Views'' gallery,

or by using the ''Pan and Zoom'' or ''Align Tool''.

letting your creativity run wild.

Couple Out For A Relaxing Boat Ride Accidentally Catch One Of The Rarest Creatures On Earth#emystery - Duration: 7:09.

You never really know what you're going to encounter when you set sail on the open

waters.

Even if you spend every day on a boat, surely something will surprise you.

The marine life that lives just under the surface of the ocean is as fascinating as

it is mysterious.

Bridget Boudreaux and her husband often took their pontoon out onto the Calcasieu Ship

Channel in Louisiana where they lived, and they were used to seeing all sorts of

aquatic life on their journeys over the years.

Not much could surprise them… or so they thought.

On one particular afternoon, Bridget captured something with her camera—and

it both she and her husband in complete shock.

If you love the water, hopping into a boat and setting sail on the ocean is always a

great time.

You never really know what you're going to encounter on your journey.

A couple from Louisiana got a front row seat one sunny afternoon when they ventured out

in their boat.

Bridget Boudreaux and her husband were no strangers to the sea.

They owned a pontoon and frequently took it out onto the open water, specifically the

Calcasieu Ship Channel near their home.

They loved sailing and all the adventure that came with it.

One hot August afternoon, the couple went on an excursion around the channel.

They wanted to get out of the house and enjoy the sun.

Not long into their trip, Bridget spotted an unusual splash in the front of a large

cargo ship they were passing.

When she and her husband got closer to see what it was, they were stunned.

Leaping out of the water in front of the massive cargo ship was a pink dolphin!

Bridget could not believe her eyes.

It wasn't uncommon to see dolphins swimming in the channel, but a pink one was extremely

rare.

Although this was the first time Bridget saw a pink dolphin,

it actually wasn't the first time the animal had been spotted in the water.

The dolphin, named "Pinky" by locals, had been seen sporadically since 2007.

The first person to spot Pinky in the Louisiana channel was a charter boat captain several

years ago.

He was excited when he saw her because he knew how special and rare her coloration was.

Pinky truly made the channel a unique place to sail!

While her husband stared in awe, Bridget noticed something else that left her stunned.

There was actually a second pink dolphin swimming right behind Pinky.

It looked like Pinky had offspring with the same rare coloration!

Unfortunately, the little dolphin disappeared under the surface so fast that Bridget was

unable to snap a photo in time.

There was a scientific explanation for Pinky's unusual coloration; it was actually caused

by a rare gene that causes albinism in dolphins.

Even though Pinky and her offspring were a pink hue, nearly all of the dolphins affected

with the albino gene are completely white.

Eric Hovland, the associate curator at the Florida Aquarium in Tampa, weighed in on Pinky's

unusual look.

He said, "Pinky's albinism is exceptionally rare, but not unheard of".

He was just as fascinated as Bridget was of the sighting.

Even though Pinky was a rosy hue, she was still considered an albino.

If her skin had no pigment to it, where did the pink coloration come from?

That's easy!

Blood vessels and capillaries that were close to the surface of her skin caused the look.

Since 1962, there have only been 14 documented sightings of albino bottlenose dolphins in

the United States, and five of them came from the southeastern

United States.

Pinky was, by far, the most popular of them all.

"Seeing an animal that is extremely light in color is not something we would normally

expect to see," said Kerry Sánchez, the senior rescue biologist of Florida's Clearwater

Marine Aquarium.

"In my full time here, we've never seen an animal that looks like that".

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, albinism affects one out of

every 10,000 mammals.

However, even though there are a handful of albino dolphins out there, not much is known

about them.

Although albinism is also rare in humans, it's nowhere near as rare as with these

aquatic mammals.

Because of this, much of the research involving dolphins with albinism are actually based

on scientific findings in humans.

Albino or not, Louisiana's Calcasieu Ship Channel is a common place to find bottlenose

dolphins, and that makes it a popular place to go boating.

People from all around like to spend warm days watching these beautiful creatures leap

out of the water with grace.

Gabriella Vazquez, a coordinator at Audubon Coastal Wildlife Network,

pointed out that the channel is an ideal place for mother dolphins to teach their offspring

how to forage for food, hence the high concentration of their numbers

there.

The channel also offers dolphins one of their favorite activities: surfing!

When enormous ships pass through, they create huge wakes in front of their vessels.

Dolphins love to swim just out in front of the ships and ride the huge breaking wakes,

and that's exactly what Pinky was doing when Bridget saw her!

You might find this hard to believe, but Pinky is so popular with the people who

frequent the channel that she actually has her own Facebook page!

There, the 3,000 people who follow her chronicle their sightings of Pinky whenever they happen.

Pinky and her offspring were swimming with other dolphins at the time Bridget took her

picture, but those weren't albino at all.

In fact, both of Pinky's parents were the typical

gray color that nearly all bottlenose dolphins are.

Pinky was just a lucky member of her species!

Bridget and her husband sure were lucky to spot Pinky when they did.

Even though Bridget wasn't able to get a picture of both pink dolphins together,

it was an experience neither she nor her husband will ever forget.

Now, whenever the couple takes their pontoon out, they're always on the lookout for Pinky!

If you've ever been on a boat and saw a dolphin,

then you know just how amazing these animals are.

Pinky made for an even more astounding experience!

Watching Pinky swim gracefully with her pod is truly a sight to be seen!

Simple exercise for knee pain - Duration: 0:59.

With knee pain, a common culprit is the person's gluteus medius. Let's just call it "weak hips".

Here's a quick set of drills to try

Start on your side, with legs stacked and knees bent at a 45 degree angle.

Engage your abdominals by pretending to put on a tight pair of pants. This will help stabilize your spine and pelvis.

Rest your head on your lower arm and make sure your hip bone is pointing directly up to the ceiling, don't let your hips roll backward.

Keep your knees stable and lift your top heel off the bottom heel.

To add resistance, place resistance band around top of knees

Keep your feet touching, raise upper knee as high as you can without letting your hips or pelvis roll backward.

Move the band down around your ankes.

now you will keep your knees together and lift your top heel off the bottom heel.

Next, lift top leg off the bottom leg so it is the same height as your trunk

and hold in that position. Knees should still be bent at a 45 degree angle. Keep your thigh stable and lift top heel towards the ceiling.

Lift top leg off the bottom leg and extend hip back so it is aligned with your trunk.

Keeping thigh stable and top leg aligned with trunk, lift top heel towards the ceiling.

Advice for Calling an Off Campus Provider - Duration: 3:16.

When you call a therapist off campus, it is likely that you'll get a voicemail.

and so you just wanna leave a message with your name, your phone number.

It's a good idea to repeat your phone number twice, in case they don't hear it.

And then let them know you're a UC Berkeley student

and if you have the SHIP insurance, it would be great to mention that.

And then the last thing is just that you're looking for therapy, and if you want to,

you could even mention a couple of specifics like for grief or for depression or anxiety,

but really, the main points are your name, your phone number, that you're looking for therapy

and that you're a UC Berkeley Student, with our without the SHIP insurance.

"Hi! This is Stephanie, and I am a UC Berkeley Student,

and I am looking for a therapist. I was referred to you by my Tang Center counselor."

"Could you please call me back at (510) 555-5115."

"I am available by phone after 2:00 pm today and between 10:00am and 2:00pm tomorrow."

"Thank you."

And then, you should expect some calls back.

It's a great idea to leave multiple messages because sometimes people have a full practice already

and they can't take new people, or maybe their schedule doesn't match with yours,

So, you probably want to leave messages for, you know, three to five folks or even more.

I know that it can be kinda difficult to talk on the phone and leave messages,

but you want to have the most chance of actually getting help,

so it's a good idea to leave multiple messages. And then, once they call back

that's when you want to, kinda do a little brief own-interview. They're gonna be kinda screening you

to see if their expertise matches yours, but you also want to be screening them

to find out if there's someone you feel comfortable talking to.

Some of the questions you might ask them are, "What experience do they have working with the issues

that you're seeking help for?" "What is their approach to therapy?"

"Do they tend to give more direct feedback? Or just kinda, what is their style?"

You could ask them about their training and experience, maybe what license they have,

or what kind of schooling they had.

And if you're getting a good feeling, then obviously you might want to ask them,

"What are their openings and availability like, their schedule, where are they located?"

If you have the SHIP insurance, then you know, you want to confirm what the co-payment is

and things like that. If you don't have the SHIP Insurance, then you want to ask them,

"What is their fee, and do they do any, if money is an issue at all,

ask them about reduced or sliding scale fees to see if they're willing to

work with people on a budget.

And then if you feel good, you can kinda go ahead and make an appointment.

If you don't you, then you can feel free to say, "Thank you so much for your time. I'm going to think about it

and perhaps give you a call back."

Engaging Officers for Effective Evidence-Based Policing - Duration: 1:48.

First to get officers and sergeants inspired about evidence-based policing, you gotta ask

them their thoughts on it, and allow them through training and vibrant conversations

in the workplace to understand some of the decisions that are driving what we're doing

operationally and get their feedback.

If you want to grow a movement, you have to bring people along at every single level

of any organization, but particularly the ones that are coming in or have a few years

of experience because those are your middle managers and your command officers later on

that will hopefully grow with the evidence-based policing movement and start to inculcate

that within their organizations.

One of the big challenges is to make the research findings available to officers in a format

that's easily accessible and easily digestible.

What's important to the academics, and what's important to make sure the evidence is secure,

is not necessarily that same as what's important to the police officer.

And I also think giving officers an opportunity to apply that knowledge in the field, so some

diffusion of powers so that officers at the front line can get involved in a research

project, and lead a research project with the help of supervisors if they want to go

that route if, and actually have a chance to apply evidence based policing in their

agency.

Using Max for Live to Build a Sampler | Ableton Live | Music Production | Tips & Tricks - Duration: 19:17.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Earlier in the course, we used a custom Max for Live device

that was really simple.

It just showed what was the last MIDI note that was played.

And it was really handy for tuning our samples.

Now, I think that's a great example of what Max for Live

can be used for-- solving a simple little problem.

And in this video, we're going to build that same device.

And then in following videos, we'll expand on that device

and make a really simple sampler device in Max for Live.

Let's try it out.

Now, Max for Live is a custom programming language.

We call it a graphical programming language that's built into Live.

And you'll find all of the Max devices over here in the Max for Live folder.

We will be making a MIDI Effect.

So I'll open up the Max MIDI Effect folder,

and I'll see the default Max MIDI Effect here.

And I'll drag that into a MIDI track.

Once it's there, we see this really strange interface.

Looks a little different than most devices.

You can kind of see that it's a programming language.

We see we have a comment that says MIDI from Live.

We have this object that says midiin.

Makes sense that that's an input for MIDI.

And we have an object that says midiout, and that kind of makes

sense that it's an output for MIDI.

And there's a cable connecting them.

And that's the general idea with Max is we

have these objects that manipulate data, and they

send data, which we call messages, along cables to other objects.

And so programming in Max is just about knowing

which objects to use, what you're trying to do,

how you're trying to manipulate that MIDI data,

and then sending it along in logical ways.

Now, if I click, I can't edit anything here.

This is fixed and not editable right now.

But there is a Max for Live edit button right here.

If I click that, the Max editor will open up, where we can edit the patch

and develop our MIDI note viewer.

So this does run as a separate application.

But there is a live connection between them.

And so now that we're in the Max editor, I can click on these objects

and I can move them around.

For instance, this is a comment just kind of giving you some information

to build your MIDI effect here.

And I'll take that, and I'll just hit the Delete key, and get rid of it.

We can also start moving objects around now.

I can move this object around.

I can click on this cable, and I could hit the Delete key to get rid of it.

I can click on an output port and drag a cable to an input port.

And if I hover over an output port, it will show me what kind of messages

that object is sending.

If we're careful about what kind of messages were sending and receiving,

we can generate programs this way.

The process of developing any program--

be it Max or another programming language--

is breaking down a complex task into a much smaller, little tasks,

and testing each one of those along the way.

And the first thing we need to make sure that's happening

is MIDI is getting into Max.

And the way we test and visualize the messages moving through Max

is by using the Print Object.

To create a new object, I can go up to the title bar here to this button here,

which says object N.

And I can click on it, and that will create

a new object, where I can start typing to define what kind of object

I want this to be.

I can type in the word Print, and now it's the Print object.

Now, I'm going to delete this and show you a shortcut.

Because we're making objects all the time,

I rarely want to come up here and click on this button.

Notice that the letter N is right next to the word Object.

That means the letter N on your keyboard will generate a new object.

So I can just hit N on my keyboard to make a new object and start typing.

It will even autocomplete to tell us what are

the possible objects with that name.

Now, the idea with Print is anything sent

to its input will be printed into the Max window.

And if you hover over the input port, it will give you some information

about what the object does.

So I will connect the output port of the midiin object

over to the input port of the Print object.

Once I do this, any MIDI that's being received into the Print object

will be printed to the Max console.

And we can find the Max console by going to the right toolbar

here and clicking on this button here for the Max console.

This will print out anything that's going to any Print object.

And you can have many Print objects in your patch.

Now, if I play on my keyboard.

I'm seeing nothing.

And that's a problem.

So let's go back to Live to see if I've done anything wrong.

I'll go to Live, and I notice the problem right away.

My MIDI track is not record enabled.

So I'll record enable it, go back to Max,

and now I'll hit a key on my keyboard.

Now, right when I hit a key on my keyboard, I'm seeing three messages--

144, 62, 86.

When I release a key, I'm seeing a bunch more messages--

128, 62, 0.

Now, I'm really not sure what all those messages mean yet,

but I am seeing I'm getting information into Max, which is awesome.

Again, the process of building a patch, we

must take joy in the little successes because there'll

be a lot of frustrations.

So we have to really enjoy those little things that go right.

As we move on with this patch, we'll have

to divide out or parse this complex MIDI messages.

One of the biggest challenges with Max is finding the right objects.

We have lots and lots of different objects,

and they do many, many amazing things.

But finding the exact right one for your task is one of the hardest challenges.

And so that's where I rely on a lot of Google searches

and also going through all of the Max help files.

So if we go to this midiout device and hover on the left hand side,

we'll get a triangle.

And if I click on it, we have all these options, particularly Help

and Reference.

And both of these will give you great information about the device

and some ideas on other helpful devices.

It will give me an example patch, which is

great to see how it works, and also, on the right side

here, a bunch of excellent other help files and ideas on other really

useful devices related to MIDI.

And I see here this one called midiparse,

and it says, interpret raw MIDI data.

And so this process of, like, opening up help files of similar patches and kind

of searching around and finding the right device-- it's just

part of the process.

And what I'm trying to do at this point is interpret this raw MIDI data

and pull out the note information.

And there's this option here for midiparse, which I'll double click on,

which opens up another patch.

But if I look at this one, we see, oh, this is interesting.

If it gets a note on message, then we'll see midiparse here.

And we have note on, note off.

It looks like this is really what I want.

So I'm just going to try to play with it a bit and see how it works.

I'll close up these patches.

I'll hit the N key to create a new object,

and I'll type in midiparse, which has a ton of different outputs.

I'll place this right here, go from midiin down to the midiparse object

to send MIDI to there, and I'll start hovering over these output objects.

And this first one, when I hover over it,

says midiparse note on and note off.

It's a list of pitch and velocity.

Interesting.

Let's try to see what that actually sends.

So I'll add a new Print device.

Hit N, type Print, and I'll connect the output of the note

on and note off output over to the input port of Print.

Now, as we do this, I'll now want to identify which print device.

I could just hit a key on my keyboard, and I got more information here

in the Max console.

I need to know which Print device is printing over here.

So I'll double click on any Print device, go to the right,

hit space, and add in an indicator.

In this, I'll just type in raw MIDI.

In this one, I'll double click, and I'll type in another indicator, which

is going to be midiparse note out.

And now I'll hit a key and look at the Max console.

So I see that as I hit this key and hold the note down,

I see raw MIDI, which is this Print device, and it's getting 144, 60, 120.

And then the midiparse note out, which is right here, is just 60 and 120.

So I have a single list right here.

Now notice the difference here.

So this raw MIDI output sent a variety of individual messages--

number 60, and number 120, this number 144.

And then we have the midiparse note out as a single message

that includes two separate numbers.

We call this a list.

A list is a collection of messages.

You can kind of think of it like an English sentence.

A message is a word, and a list is a sentence.

And this one message contains these two separate messages.

One of them is going to be velocity, and one of them is going to be note.

Let's figure out which one.

So if I release my key, we see that the first one is a 60-- the same number.

That must be the note number.

And the second one is velocity, saying it's a note off.

So that first key-- that midiparse note out--

gave me a note of 60, and a velocity of 120.

I hit the key pretty hard.

And then when I release the key, I have a note of 60 and a velocity of 0.

That's a note off.

So I think I'm getting closer to having just the information I want.

All I really care about is that 60 because that is the note name.

That's what we're looking for-- a single message that is the note number.

My hand just hit a knob on my controller, and it sent this data here.

And you'll notice it's only coming out of the print raw MIDI Print

device, because it's a control change.

If I move this more, we'll see that we get a whole bunch of data.

It's all 176, which is saying it's a controller number.

And we're getting 4 and 13, or 4 and up to 127.

The raw MIDI 176 must be saying that it's a controlling number.

The 4 must be which controller it is.

And the 126 or 127 is the value of it.

Now, I don't need to look at this raw MIDI data

anymore because I'm really only concerned with the note outs.

So I'll click on the raw MIDI, Print device, delete it.

And I can go to my Max console, click this x, and clear it out.

Because I know that if I hit a note, I now

have a really good indication of what it is.

Note 48, velocity 127.

Note 48, velocity 0.

So I'll put this out to the side here, which is what I often do.

I'm often adding objects and then putting the print objects over

to the side to kind of get out of the way of everything I'm doing.

Now, the next thing I want to do is divide this out

so I only have one of these two messages.

And we're often doing this.

We have a list that is two numbers, and I

need to break it up into two separate messages.

And that's what the unpack device is for.

So I'll hit N and then Unpack.

The idea is we can pack messages into a list,

or we can unpack a list into individual messages.

And this is saying break a list into individual messages.

Perfect.

And I'll hit Enter.

Notice that this has a single input port--

the list to be unpacked.

And it has two output ports-- element one of list, and element two of list.

I'll click and drag from the output port of the midiparse device

and drag it to the input port of the unpack device.

Put that in place.

And then we can make another Print object.

So I'll New, Print.

And I'm going to call this UNPACKPORT1.

And I'll make another one that is UNPACKPORT2.

And I just option drag to make a copy of it.

So we have port 2, port 1.

So now, I'll try hitting a note.

And what do we have?

We have midiparse note out, a list--

that's 60 and 120.

UNPACKPORT2 is 120, and UNPACKPORT1 is 60.

So this is a really important point to make.

Messages happen in a certain order.

Though it looks like everything's happening all at once,

things are actually happening in an order.

If I clear out the Max console and I hold a key down, first, what happens

is the midiparse note out--

this object here.

And that's happening first because the MIDI comes in, goes to midiparse,

comes out of midiparse, then goes to here, and then it goes down to unpack,

and then it gets divided into these two destinations.

Now, note that the messages are sent on the right port

and then to the left port.

So we have UNPACKPORT2 as the velocity and UNPACKPORT1 as the note.

Messages coming out of objects will always happen from the right-most port

and then move to the left.

It feels a little odd at first.

But as you start developing the programs here in Max,

you'll find it makes total sense.

And it really is a logical way for this to function.

If I release my key, we'll get a note off event.

Again, we're going to see midi note out--

this device here-- sending a message to the Max console.

And then we have UNPACKPORT2 right here, and then UNPACKPORT1 right here.

Now, I'm not really concerned with UNPACKPORT2.

I can just delete that device.

I'm not really concerned with midiparse note out anymore.

I can delete that.

Really, all I care about is this note message.

So I'll make a new device.

Now, if we come up here, we see the Max for Live objects.

I can click there.

And we have a number of different interface objects.

And the one I'm really looking at right here is live.numbox.

I can click on that and I get a live number box.

I can click and drag that right here.

I can drag from the output port 1 of the unpack

object down to the input port of the live numbox.

Now, if I play a key on the keyboard, I'll see a 60.

If I play another key, I'll see a 63.

So what's happening is what was going here--

over to the Max console, that end number--

is now going to this number box.

I can click on unpack port and get rid of it.

And we really have the bulk of our MIDI note viewer object.

Now that we're seeing the data that we need to see,

I'd like to clean this up a little bit and give myself some comments.

Comments are created just like creating objects, but we don't hit the N key.

We hit the C for comment.

And I can say something like this.

If you have a chance to clean up your patch and to give details,

that's awesome.

Over here-- and I'll put another comment.

With my patch well-commented, I can save it--

command S. And then I can give it a good name.

I'll call this note display 2 because I've been working on a bunch of these.

And I can close up the Max interface.

And we'll see that our complete patch is shown here inside of Live.

And I can hit a key on my keyboard.

And it'll show the latest note right there.

So now we see how we can develop an object in Max

and how we can get a simple note display over in Live.

But there are some problems.

First off, this is an ugly interface.

The end user in Live doesn't need to see all this information.

All they really need is this number box right here.

And it's not showing me the MIDI note name.

I'd rather say C, C sharp, et cetera.

To fix all these little issues, I'll go and edit the patch a little more.

Click on this button right here to edit it.

Open the Max editor.

Now, most of the issues I had were relating to this Live number box

right here.

And what I need to do is change a number of this object's attributes.

Attributes are aspects of an object that control how it looks and how it acts.

If I click on this and then I click this I for inspector here,

we'll see a list of all the object's attributes.

We can show tabs to show specific portions of the attributes.

And I can also hide and show portions of the interface here.

Now, I'll go to all and all scroll down all the way to the unit style.

If I hover over the I there, there will be

even information about the unit style.

It's saying that parameters have a number of built-in display

styles for their data.

Choose between them in the drop-down menu.

And the drop-down menu here has all sorts of different ways

that that number can be displayed.

The one we're going to want is MIDI.

So this way, it says D sharp 4.

And if I click different keys on my keyboard,

we are seeing that it's showing MIDI note numbers really nicely right there.

The next thing is to make a custom interface

for this device that only includes the display, the note

number, and the comment for it.

To do this, I'll click on my Live number box and go back to the inspector.

And then we'll find the attribute for presentation, Include in Presentation.

And I'll checkbox that.

Now, once I do that, I'll see there's a kind of reddish pinkish box around it.

And that's saying this object, if I switch to the Presentation Mode,

will be viewed there.

And we can switch to the Presentation Mode with this button right down here--

Presentation Mode.

If I click on it, everything else will disappear, and only

that F3 is available.

If I click on this again, it will go back

to the Patching Mode, where we can edit.

So the Presentation Mode, when I'm here--

and this says, unlocked presentation-- the Presentation Mode is the view that

will be available in Live.

And then the Patching View is how we can come in here and edit our patch.

Now, I also want this comment to be in the Presentation Mode,

so I'll click on it.

And I'll find Include in Presentation over here

in the attributes, which is right here.

Now, the honest truth is this is such a common thing to do.

You can Control click or right click, and there

will be an option for Add to Presentation, which is simply

checking that box but allowing you to do it without opening the info pane.

And I can actually move these objects in the Presentation Mode up here.

I can even change their size.

And if I switch back to the Patching View,

we'll see it moves over to this location.

So objects have their own location in Presentation and Patching.

The last thing I'll have to do is tell Live that when I'm opening this patch,

I'd like to open it in the Presentation Mode.

And there's an option.

If you click on the background here, while in the Patcher,

you'll see that this little P shows up right there.

If I click on an object, that P disappears.

But if I click in the background, I'll see it there

while I'm in the inspector.

That P is going to give me the Patcher inspector.

So it'll give me the info about the Patcher itself--

kind of the background.

And if I scroll down, I'll find an attribute for Open in Presentation.

And there it is.

Under view, you have an option for Open in Presentation.

And I can make that checkbox.

Now, once I do that, I can switch to the Presentation Mode and hit Save.

And I'll do a Save As.

And I'll save this as Note Display 3 for myself.

And as soon as I did that, because that was checked,

look at what I see over in Live.

I'll just quit Max here.

And I have a really nice interface that shows me

exactly what the last note played is.

7 Treatment Options for Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis

1.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)

Upon receiving a juvenile rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis, many patients will be prescribed

medications to help them cope with the often painful condition.

The first and most accessible type of medication prescribed to these individuals is nonsteroidal

anti-inflammatory drugs, otherwise known as NSAIDs.

As the name suggests, NSAIDs are designed to alleviate the symptoms associated with

juvenile rheumatoid arthritis by reducing inflammation, in this case of the joints.

Many NSAIDs are available over the counter, meaning they don't even require a prescription.

Examples include ibuprofen (Advil and Motrin) and naproxen (Aleve).

Side effects, which are generally minimal, include nausea and issues with the liver.

2.

Disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs)

Should a young patient dealing with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis require something more

powerful to combat the pain associated with this condition, their family doctor may prescribe

disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, or DMARDs.

Examples of DMARDs include methotrexate (Trexall) and sulfasalazine (Azulfidine).

Sometimes a physician will encourage their patient to take DMARDs in addition to non-steroidal

anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs.

And while DMARDs are generally more potent than NSAIDs, the side effects are fairly similar:

upset stomach and, should they be taken in excess, liver issues.

3.

Tumor necrosis factor blockers (TNFs)

Tumor necrosis factor blockers are often prescribed by doctors to patients suffering from the

effects of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

That's because TNFs can effectively restrict many of the symptoms associated with the condition,

from stiffness in the morning hours to the late-day pain of swollen joints.

Unfortunately, tumor necrosis factor blockers have more significant side effects than non-steroidal

anti-inflammatory drugs, which can cause nausea in some patients.

Unlike NSAIDs, TNFs increase the chance that a patient will suffer from even more substantial

health problems, including cancers like lymphoma.

For this reason, doctors may not prescribe TNFs unless the case of juvenile rheumatoid

arthritis is considered particularly serious and painful.

Immune system suppressants

You could hardly blame someone for wondering why on earth a physician would prescribe medications

designed to actually suppress the activity of a person's immune system if they're

fighting a painful condition like juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

But there's a good reason physicians turn to these types of medication: because they

can effectively limit the chance that the immune system of a juvenile rheumatoid arthritis

patient will attack healthy cells and intensify the condition.

There are a number of prevalent immune system suppressants, including abatacept (Orencia),

rituximab (Rituxin), anakinra (Kineret) and tocilizumab (Actemra).

Like TNFs, they do come with some significant potential side effects, including general

infection to cancer.

5.

Corticosteroids

A far more potent way to counteract the symptoms of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis involves

using corticosteroid medications, such as prednisone.

Corticosteroids are often prescribed by a doctor while their patient waits for disease-modifying

antirheumatic drugs to take effect.

Should corticosteroid medications be prescribed, chances are they will be in use for only a

short time.

This is because these drugs have been shown to cause growth difficulties and increase

the chances of infection.

Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis patients using corticosteroids will receive these drugs orally

or through an injection into a problematic joint.

6.

Physical therapy

Many older adults struggling with rheumatoid arthritis find that physical therapy can help

in alleviating joint and muscle pain.

The situation is no different for those dealing with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, which

affects children under age 17 — physical therapists and occupational therapists have

a variety of exercises that can improve range of motion, enhance muscle tone, and help young

patients overcome restricted flexibility and reduce pain and swelling.

Additionally, a physical therapist or occupational therapist may provide a child with juvenile

rheumatoid arthritis with protective equipment or exercise equipment that can help them build

strength when at home; for example, joint supports and splints can help protect painful

joints and improve overall functionality.

7.

Surgery

Generally speaking, surgery will be the last treatment option in juvenile rheumatoid arthritis

cases.

Prior to considering this rather extreme option, a physician will, in all likelihood, prescribe

physical therapy, a range of medications, and even dietary changes.

Should these methods fail to make a difference in the life of the patient, however, then

a physician may consider a surgical procedure capable of improving the position of the joint,

thereby improving range of motion and, in time, reducing pain and discomfort.

However, because surgery often comes with a significant risk of complication and may

involve a long and painful recovery time, it should remain a physician's last option.

Prince Edward County has the second highest population of seniors in Ontario,

and the fifth highest in Canada.

As people age, they often require additional assistance

to maintain an independent and healthy lifestyle.

Some may be a little slower,

find it harder to get around,

and require extra help to access support services,

and to remain active and involved in the community.

Since it began in 1977 as one of 27 pilot projects in Ontario,

the Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association

has been providing key services:

The Rural Route Reassurance Program.

The Meals on Wheels food delivery program.

A volunteer driving service.

Seniors social and recreational programs.

Fitness programs.

Home cleaning and maintenance.

Tax services.

And care giver support.

Providing these services means developing a small army of volunteers assisting others.

Over 500 volunteers contribute their efforts to help seniors live at home.

In return, they make a world of difference to older residents

who can continue to live in their homes maintaining their independence.

Fulfilling this community commitment creates many volunteer opportunities

including assisting at the organization's Thrift Shop.

Sales of used clothing and household items from the shop

provide funds re-invested in programs and services for seniors.

Volunteering has its own rewards.

It's a way of meeting new people while helping others.

For many older seniors, aging can mean isolation, loneliness,

and coping with many losses, of health, loved ones,

family and friends.

But aging can also be about companionship, and caring -

the main goal of the Prince Edward County Community Care For Seniors Association.

the comfort of home; and a passion for volunteers.

In the first years of settlement in Upper Canada, life was hard, and often very short.

The average life span for men in the 1840s was less than 50 years.

It was even less for women who often died in childbirth.

One third of all infants died in their first year.

It was common for men to marry again, and to raise large families

to create the farm labour to continue the work of settling the land.

In these early years, families built onto their homes

as sons and daughters married and started families of their own -

a distinctive architectural feature to many area homes.

Graceful verandahs were added as restful living spaces -

and recovery rooms as fresh air was part of the cure for tuberculosis -

the leading cause of death in Canada in the 1860s.

In an age before automobiles and widespread immigration to cities,

people lived their entire lives in their communities,

and were buried in family plots in local cemeteries.

In an age where success was measured by survival,

seniors remained valued members of close-knit families and communities.

A lifetime of experience forged wisdom, and seniors were the custodians

of critical knowledge - farming and fishing practices,

weather patterns, food preservation, traditional medical treatments,

faith and family history.

Seniors guided their families and communities through the everyday hardships of pioneer life.

They passed on timeless skills of persistence, optimism, thrift,

hard work and resourcefulness, harnessing the collective capacities

of their neighbours to clear land, harvest crops,

build homes, barns, churches and roads.

They valued education at a time when illiteracy was widespread.

Most of all, they believed in the great promise of the country we enjoy today.

These were gifts to last.

2018 Reading Goals (and Goals for this Channel) - Duration: 4:16.

Hi there! It's Diane, the nursing geek. Long time no see. One of my goals for the

new year is to improve my video skills. Seems like a good way to do that is to

get back to making videos. What they'll be about is gonna vary, at least at the

start. I have ideas for bullet journal-related videos, writing-related videos,

book-related videos, and how-to-survive-academia-related videos (though there'll

probably be some overlap between that and the bullet journal stuff). So there

are probably some of each of those and, you know, some nursing-related content

(because that would make sense, nd it'll probably turn up in all of those other

categories too). Once I realized all the categories of ideas that I had, I started

to have ideas about making multiple videos per week. That would be completely

unsustainable, though, so I'm gonna aim for one per week. Maybe it'll end up

being a rotation of those topics, maybe it'll end up drifting more towards one

or another or two of them. We'll see. For now I'm gonna start with a quick 2018

reading goals thing. I read tons. Anyone who knows me will tell you that. I kind

of have to for my job, and I also read plenty for pure enjoyment. What I've

gotten away from, though, is reading actual, you know, books. I read articles

upon articles upon articles upon articles. I read lots of blog posts and

lots of unconventionally published fiction. I suppose I should also count

reading students homework. I don't foresee backing off any of that, but I

would like to read more actual books. So unlike everyone else who seems to be

on the "50 or Bust" train I'm setting a goal of 25 books for 2018 and about half

of those will probably be audiobooks. I have a pretty long commute to work, so

I've decided to use some of that time to read. And since we don't have really

great public transportation here in Connecticut, I can't just grab a print

book and read it on the bus or on the subway.

So that leaves audiobooks while I drive.

Right now I'm listening to The Handmaid's Tale so that'll be book number one.

For print, I am currently reading I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai

(I hope I'm saying that correctly) I did start it a little bit over the holidays,

but really only a little bit. I'm ... I'm not very far in at all.

So, I'm gonna count that for 2018 even though I sort of started it in 2017.

So, with that that in mind one audiobook and one print book per month is a fairly

reasonable goal, I think, with a little extra for reading over the summer.

Twenty-five sounds *really* low to me because I am that person who used to

read a minimum of a novel week. And I still do read at least the equivalent of

a novel a week, it's just not in book form. So, yeah. Keeping expectations

reasonable. I guess that makes us my first contribution to "booktube."

My next will probably be a review of The Handmaid's Tale and I Am Malala

and anything else I've managed to read between now and then. Meantime please

2017 - What I did; My plans for 2018 - Duration: 5:14.

2017…

2017 was an awesome year.

As every other year, I strived to achieve my resolutions from last year.

And to some extent I managed to do it, that's why I am confident that this was my most productive

year.

Looking back to what I have done, I have to say I am a little proud of myself.

Not only I have made major progress at my everlasting ambition - a 3d game engine, but

I made a handful of projects, from which I've learnt a lot of invaluable lessons, such as

how to be more organized.

Now onto reviewing some stuff that I did in 2017 .One of the biggest projects I have done

up until now is Stacked, a programming language.

My main points of inspiration were stacks, assembly language, and optimization at cache

level.

Another reason for which I made this programming language is the fact that I wanted to make

trivial problems harder to solve, by allowing the use of only one tool - stacks.

Although I could now say that this is a way of showing how important is to choose the

right tools, when I started I didn't think of this, I only wanted to make something challenging.

The most massive project I have been working on is my game engine.

Nothing much to say about it, only the fact that this is my 3rd attempt at trying to make

this.

And this time I am trying to be super organized.

Although at the current attempt I haven't reached the number of commits Stacked has,

it still is the most ambitious projects that I am looking forward to doing.

To complement the creation of a game engine, I started making a discord bot, while trying

to apply knowledge I have learned from books about game developing: Game Coding Complete

and Game Programming Patterns.

During this project I have strived to make a solid core, at which it is easy to add functionality.

Besides, I had this cool idea of giving the bot "personalities", or, more precisely,

different ways of responding.

Along these quite ambitious projects, I have made some smaller ones, like the random maze

generator, that also displayed a solution.

Live playlist was another project with a cool idea, although it remained a stub.

I have played a little bit with the udoo I had, while I was trying to make some kind

of virtual camera, that would show my character in the pose that the pressed key indicates.

Of course, this would be helpful when streaming.

Despite all of this, one of my best achievements still remains this channel and especially

the first video.

Not only I knew almost nothing about how to animate and make effects.

But making the first video public required a lot of courage from me.

During this year I learned a fair amount about animations, special effects and this field

in general, of course there is a lot more to learn, but how making these video also

taught me how to improve, analyze my past work, organize myself and explain myself better.

I could talk all day about what I have learned, but who am I?

You might ask.

I am Alex, a 15 years old high school student with a huge interest in game development,

programming, computers, and physics.

As for the reasons I am interested in these, it all started a few years ago when I discovered

programming and a little bit later "turbo graphics library".

From there I got hyped for game programming, and I started to learn more.

Since physics describes how the world works, and games are simulation of real world (well

some games are, that's for sure, while others have different scopes), I naturally started

being interested in physics.

Now, it's about time to tell goodbye to 2017, and welcome 2018.

For 2018, I want to be as productive as the last year, if not more, although I don't

know what project I want to make next.

The least ambiguous resolutions I have are continuing working on my game engine and getting

it to a usable state, as well as continuing working on videos for this channel.

I have a lot of plans regarding this channel and future videos.

And as a bonus, when the summer break begins, I want to upload at least once at 2 weeks,

if not weekly.

How to Start Charging More for the Services You Provide - Duration: 3:27.

Have you ever wondered why there are some people that can charge a $100 for the same service

that some people only charge 10 for?

Well the difference is not their technique, it's actually their delivery and in today's video,

I'm gonna show you how to make sure you can upgrade your delivery to make sure you can start charging

more for the services you provide.

So yesterday, I went to the salon to get my hair cut and the place I go happens to offer an executive upgrade

when I get my hair cut so I can get my shoulders rubbed while I'm there for five minutes before my haircut.

Only one problem, I didn't get my shoulder massaged.

Now I'm a normal person that would probably say if my food came out cold

or something like that, I'd probably send it back but the problem is, is that

when I was getting my hair cut yesterday and I didn't get my neck massaged, I didn't wanna say anything.

It kind of felt a little creepy and weird and that's not me but I had this thought that if I'm feeling this way,

other people probably feel this exact same way and I realized there's something

that you need to know as a service provider.

Is if you don't offer, your customer is not gonna ask.

Okay, it's really important.

If you don't offer, your customer is not going to ask.

Meaning that since this was I had ordered it in advance but it wasn't happening.

I just didn't wanna bring it up 'cause I didn't wanna be that guy and I just thought how many times does this happen

in the salon or in the spa area where a customer really wants something

but then you deny them the opportunity to get it just because you were too afraid to ask.

So why would people not ask?

Well, 'cause they're worried about being sales-y or you're afraid that they're not gonna like it

or they're gonna tell you no and so your insecurities come up and you fail to deliver at the level

that you really want to, to provide the right type of service to your guests.

Now a good service provider that gets paid really really well for what they do is constantly just offering and asking

and here's what's important.

It's all in how you ask.

So for example, this exact same salon that I go to and maybe like some of the salons that you work at

is that when you walk through the door, there's water provided or maybe even beer, wine,

or just soft drinks that are provided, but the problem is if you just say can I get you something to drink?

The answer is always no, I'm good.

But if I said what can I get for you?

Can I get you a beer, a soda, or a water? What would you like?

Chances are that somebody will say, oh, I'll take a water. Or I'll take a beer, I'll take a glass of wine, whatever it is.

So it's all in how you offer.

So when you offer, make sure that you provide a selection of choices. Not just a yes or no.

'Cause yes or no will automatically almost get you a no every single time.

in order to make sure that you can provide an even greater quality service

for the guests that are in your salon, do me a favor.
