EastEnders spoilers: Is THIS who's behind the New Year's Day heist?

After what was one of Albert Squares most eventful Christmas specials in a long time, things got even darker for the EastEnders cast after Aidan Maguires (Patrick Bergin) criminal scheme took a turn for the worse.

EastEnders spoilers had teased that the heist would go wrong, and viewers watched in disbelief last night as lovable pub landlord Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) was shot.

While fans are set to find out more about the botched robbery in tonights episode, some viewers have constructed their own theories as to who was really behind the master plan, with many believing that it was Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) who organised the stunt.

Their suspicions were alerted when the gang referred to a woman having their guts for garters should their plan go wrong.

"Whats the betting these armed robbers are working for Mel?" Twitter user Fans took to Twitter to share their theory, with one viewer writing: Its obviously going to be Mel whose the boss, Another wrote: Shes have our guts for garters, its obvs about Mels comeback, A third observed: Whats the betting these armed robbers are working for Mel? The robbery comes shortly after Tamzin Outhwaite, who plays Mel, teased the character will be a lot darker when she returns to Walford after sixteen years away.

Bombshell Mel left the soap in 2002 after being bailed by former lover Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), choosing to run away to Portugal instead of facing a spell in prison for drug smuggling.

Hinting at her comeback storyline, 47-year-old Tamzin explained to the Sun: Mel is much more damaged and darker.

You don't really know what's happened to her in the 16 years away.

She's been through a whole other world which has messed her up as well, you see some of it, but not all of it..

"Whats the betting these armed robbers are working for Mel?" Twitter user More details of Mels long-awaited comeback emerged last week, with the character making a return for the sake of her son Hunter.

Tamzin added: She doesn't want to be there at all – she is back for a reason and this is a place with so many ghosts.

She can't bear that idea.

What you see is her trying to play the right game to get what she needs.

You never know what she's up to. EastEnders continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.

Foreign affairs minister says annulment of 2015 agreement is also an option - Duration: 0:47.

Seoul's Foreign Affairs Minister, Kang Kyung-wha, said the ministry is 'quote' open to "all

options," including the total annulment of the 2015 bilateral agreement between South

Korea and Japan on issues regarding the sexual enslavement of Korean women during Japanese

colonial rule.

She did reiterate, however, that the government must decide after sufficiently considering

the effects of such a decision.

Her remarks came during an interview on a local Korean radio program on Thursday.

She said the biggest mistake by the previous government when making the deal with Tokyo

was the lack of communication with the victims and the supporters' organization, and that

she would do her best to personally meet with the victims.
