sUAS to Assess Rainwater Harvesting Potential for Urban Multi-family Housing: Part 1 - Duration: 6:50.
This UAS Tutorial video is brought to you by America View,
a nationwide consortium for remote sensing education, research, and geospatial applications.
This project was supported by a United States Geological Survey Grant
and its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors
and do not necessarily represent the official views of the USGS.

Hello everyone, welcome to our five-part video series titled
"Using Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems to Assess Rainwater Harvesting Potential for Urban Multi-family Housing".
In this series we will discuss a variety of concepts and methods utilized in
assessing a particular urban area's rainwater harvesting potential
while placing emphasis on the incorporation of a small unmanned aircraft system in our data collection technique.
This series aims to educate users about the methods employed when
using a consumer-grade unmanned aircraft system for aerial data collection.
In our series, the model sUAS used will be a DJI Phantom 4 Professional.
With the data that we acquire via the sUAS,
we are able to conduct further processing of the images to
create high-resolution orthomosaics, digital elevation models
and other related products.
For our purposes, this video series will focus on the techniques relevant to deriving
the aerial measurements necessary to assess rooftop-based rainwater harvesting applications
in urban multi-family housing developments.
Obviously, many of the methods discussed in this series
can be applied to other related research goals such as solar paneling, or green roofing,
or really any other project that necessitates highly accurate aerial data.
This series will follow a 5-part structure with each video focusing on
a sequential concept and its associated techniques.
The first video, which you are currently watching, will both introduce the series as a
whole while also delving into what Rainwater Harvesting is and why we are assessing it.
The second video in this series will focus on the laws
and regulations that govern the usage of small unmanned aircraft systems in commercial purposes
and research.
The third video will then discuss the image collection process
with the sUAS and explain how to properly conduct a sUAS flight for data acquisition.
The fourth video will contain instructional information on how to
process the sUAS acquired imagery in photogrammetry software,
which in our case will be Pix4D Mapper.
The fifth, and last, video will then detail how to determine the land cover characteristics
and calculate the site's Rainwater Harvesting Potential.
Together these five videos should illustrate to you how you can easily collect aerial imagery
with a consumer-grade sUAS and then utilize that data to assess sustainable development techniques,
like rooftop based rainwater harvesting, solar paneling, or green roofing.
Now, let's get into Part 1 of this series:
Rainwater Harvesting.
So, when you hear the phrase Rainwater Harvesting,
oftentimes it musters up the image of food-grade barrels attached to residential downspouts
as a way to collect water for your garden.
And as many of us know, these barrels often overflow in a
single storm event and are rarely made full use of by the homeowner.
However, this is really no longer the stereotypical case of rainwater harvesting.
Today, many stormwater professionals are looking closely at Rainwater Harvesting
as a stormwater management technique that provides various benefits to
both the user and the city.
Oftentimes these stormwater professionals implement much larger storage solutions,
such as cisterns.
But before I go any further, let me first explain what rainwater harvesting actually is.
Rainwater Harvesting is essentially a physical approach to collecting, conveying, filtering,
and storing rainwater that would otherwise infiltrate into pervious ground, evapotranspire,
or runoff into a drainage system.
Instead of letting a significant amount of the rainwater runoff
and be unused, rainwater harvesting aims to capture those potential losses
and put it towards on-site water demands.
The systems utilized to facilitate rainwater harvesting can vary from simplistic to highly complex,
depending on the particular site of interest.
After understanding the basics of Rainwater Harvesting,
we then need to address its importance.
Much of its significance stems from the concept's ability to provide an on-site water source.
These uses are generally involved in landscaping water needs,
like a lawn sprinkler system,
or in other grey-water applications.
Another important benefit of rainwater harvesting is that research actually
indicates that RH systems are useful in preventing erosion caused by stormwater flows.
As a storm event occurs, there is often a large deposition of
rainwater at the beginning of the storm which can cause
heightened rates of erosional impacts on urban streams and other waterways.
These impacts are especially noticeable during events of flash flooding
that are increasingly common in urban environments.
With the implementation of RH systems at a large scale,
these storm events' impacts can be lessened in vulnerable watersheds and sites of interest.
Since these RH systems have the ability to buffer the erosional impacts associated
with flashy storm events, they also can provide benefits to
their respective stormwater drainage systems.
With erosional deposits consistently creating problems for stormwater management systems,
the impact of RH systems can help to prevent some of those deposits from occurring.
Now that we understand the benefits of RH Systems,
we now need to discuss how to actually assess an area's rainwater harvesting potential.
For our series, we are interested primarily in rooftop-based rainwater harvesting.
Rooftop-based methods generally focus on the usage of a gutter system,
which is oftentimes pre-existing,
and collecting the rainwater that would normally fall onto a building's rooftop
and then turn into runoff.
Fortunately for researchers, assessing the potential amount of rainwater
to be harvested in a particular location is fairly simple.
The key measurement needed in order to calculate
the RH potential for a site of interest is the 2-dimensional
surface area of the rooftops.
Using the surface area, in combination with other relevant factors
like precipitation trends,
allow the researcher to calculate the average amount of
rainfall that can be theoretically collected at that site.
And, depending on the amount that will be collected,
then an accurate decision can be made regarding the storage needs.
By incorporating storage vessels that accurately match the amount of rainfall
being captured at a site, then more effective use of the
water will occur and less rainwater will be wasted.
Up next in the series will be Part 2,
which discusses sUAS laws and Regulations that are relevant to our research goals and methods employed.
In that video we will discuss two main topics,
FAA and UAS Laws,
and Part 107 Rules & Test Procedures.
In these two topics we will go over all of the relevant regulations
that pertain to unmanned aircraft systems and their usage in research.
Thank you for watching!

Are You Ready For A Special Message From Spirit - Duration: 2:23.
Are You Ready For A Special Message From Spirit
Everyone has been feeling the effects of the intense energies these days and with these
energetic influences you may notice youre super-sensitive and touchy.
With all of this going on, it is helpful to turn to spirit for a little guidance.
If youre curious to find out what spirits message is for you, select one of the cards
for your message.
1.You may find you feel the need to defend yourself these days because there may be some
misunderstandings with others and your buttons are not only being pushed but trampled on.
The advice from spirit is to wait and breathe before you react!
Simmer down my friend.
Sometimes you can explain and defend yourself until you are blue in the face and it doesnt
make a bit of a difference.
To quote Bernard Baruch ~ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind
dont matter and those who matter dont mind.1
2.The moment you commit, really commit to make the necessary decisions you know you
must make, things will begin to move forward at a rapid rate.
No more back and forth with your choices.
Make up your mind and then stay committed to your choice.
All the Universe is waiting for is for you to make up your mind and commit to following
through with your decision.
You are making things way too complicated.
Get ready to be launched forward towards your dreams!
3.
Spirit requests that you dont hold back compassion and empathy towards your fellow
brother and sister.
Each and every one of us is fighting a personal battle or two and there are a few people around
you that would greatly benefit from you holding space for them.
You hold so much light in your heart and are a beacon in challenging times for many.
Namaste Dear One!

How To Choose The Right Foundation For Your Skintone - Duration: 8:17.
Hello Sunshines!
Today I want to show you how to match your own foundation so that way you won't ever
have to be the victim of a probably very well meaning but undertrained sales associate or
be in trouble if your out trying to buy foundation and you can't get anybody to help you.
Maybe theyre busy.
Maybe theyre understaffed.
It doesn't matter because you can do it by yourself.
So a really good place to start is by understanding what the undertone of your skin is.
So that you can avoid foundations that clash.
If you have a yellow undertone and put a pink toned foundation on its gona look not good.
Your options are warm, cool, and neutral.
Cool being more of a pink, reddish tone, warm being more of a yellow, golden undertone and
neutral of course being a mix of the two.
Some indicators of what your undertone are may be what kind of jewelry and clothing colors
you prefer.
Often cooler toned friends prefer crisp, whites and black neutrals they feel like silver jewelry
really compliments their skintone and a lot of times warmer complected individuals like
tans, and browns, and that kind of thing for their neutrals and they like gold jewelry
which I have a warmer complexion and I feel like thats definately true for me.
I prefer gold colored jewlery or rose gold, I feel like its just much more complimentary
to my skintone then silver.
I am wearing black today but I worked in cosmetics for ten years what do you want from me.
My wardrobe consists of black, off black, slightly faded gray black cause it got thrown
in the dryer too many times, red black cause it got washed with that one red sock.
Why does everybody have one red sock.
It just exists to ruin your laundry.
So while a lot of those indicators definately depend on personal preferance, its not excatly
a fool proof test its a good place to start.
Another thing you can do is look at the veins on the inside of your wrist.
Its kind of hard to tell on camera but if you have a cooler skintone your veins are
going to look a little bit more on the blue side where as if you have a warmer skintone
theyre gona probably show up a little bit more green and thats because the yellow in
your skin overlapping with the blue makes green!
Color wheel.
I learned that in elementary school.
However this can depend on the lighting your in and if you have a darker complexion it
can be harder to see your veins because lucky you theyre not as prominent.
So if all else fails and your not sure which camp your living in you could be more on the
neutral side like a mix of both.
One of my favorite ways to try and figure it out is a lot of foundations say right on
the bottle what kind of undertone they are and so if you go on the back of your hand
and you take one from each family and swatch it on the back of your hand, you can kinda
tell what clashes and what blends in with your skintone better.
Now please, please do not match your foundation on the back of your hand.
Its not the same color, its not gona look right.
But it is a good way to figure out your undertone and give you a place to start.
Back to where not to match your foundation.
Don't match it to the back of your hand, don't match it on your wrist, I prefer you not even
match it to the outer perimeter of your face because on a lot of us the outside of your
face is gona be darker than the inside and your neck.
This is what matters, Right here.
Because your face is going to be covered in foundation.
And unless you want to blend your makeup alllll the way down.
Everyday.
You really want it to match your neck.
So that way it blends seamlessly, and doesn't give you that weird floating head thing, that
we've all seen and definately been guilty of at some point.
My facebook memories popped up and I had actually had posted a facebook status about how my
foundation was eight shades too dark and I was just gona try and put on enough bronzer
and believe really hard to make it work.
No Ariel, No.
You know better.
I know better.
Ok so you've got you're undertone.
You know where to match your foundation.
Next your going to figure out your formula.
Do you have dry skin, do you have oily skin?
Do you want a tinted moisturizer?
A lot of coverage?
A little coverage?
Its all kind of personal preferance.
But whatever formula you pick, grab the three shades in your undertone that are the closest
by your guess to your match.
And then right along here youre going to swipe them and your going to want to make it a little
bit thicker then what you would maybe apply for a real application, so that you can see
what it is but its ok to blend it through a little bit.
You still want to be able to see which is which.
And so you can see one out of the three is gona blend in better than the others.
And im gona go with the center one.
And that actually is the foundation that im wearing right now.
But for demonstration purposes I want to show you how off it would be if I used the back
of my hand.
Alright so theyre in the same order that they were in on my neck.
But I would have definately gone with the darkest one just looking at it from the back
of my hand, which is my summer shade but it doesn't look right when I wear it right now.
So out of your three foundations the one that almost dissapears, that one is your guy.
Now I know we've all been in that situation where you think you've found the perfect match
and then you get a nasty surprise when you when you find out a little bit more about
them.
Well I have a trick to avoid that, at least where foundations concerned.
So youre gona want to do is once you put your swatches on walk around for about fifteen
minutes to see if its gona oxidize, look at it in a few different types of light, definately
get in natural light if you possibly can.
You want to see how the foundation looks once its dried down to know what youre really getting
into.
If it still looks as amazing as you thought it was going to after about fifteen minutes
then its a go.
Now if youre still not 100% sure if youre shopping at a makeup counter or sephora they
give samples, I recommend getting one and trying it for a day or two and that way you
can take it for a full test run and see how it goes.
Now if you're shopping at ulta they typically do not do samples, I like to shop at Ulta.
They carry everything under the sun.
So what I do if im not 100% sure is just hold onto my receipt for a couple of days until
I've worn it and really looked at it, in all kinds of light, and made sure im not going
to have any problems.
Just wait to throw the bag away.
Alright go forth and color match and remember that practice makes perfect you may not get
it exactly the first time but with a little practice you'll get to where you can color
match like that because you have all the basics that you need to find your perfect match all
by yourself.
Now theres nothing wrong with getting help if its available and you trust the salesperson
offering it to you, they have probably been doing it a lot longer than you could potentially
offer some great advice.
But its always good to go in with your own set of knowledge so that way you can kinda
decide for yourself.
Let me know what you guys think down in the comments, do you usually pick out your own
foundation?
Do you usually get help?
How do you feel about it?
Does it make you nervous?
Let me know, like this video if you liked it and if your new to my channel I would love
for you to subscribe so that way you don't miss any of the videos coming out for you
on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays.
And feel free to share if you know of anybody that could use this advice or could use a
little sunshine in their day.

Syddora Ray, St. Luke's RN - How do you care for expectant parents? - Duration: 0:44.
So to work in the birthing center, you definitely have to adapt to the family
feelings that you get. Are they nervous? Are they anxious? Are they calm? You just walk
in the room and you're a part of their family. So you ask them, "Is there anything
I can do for you? Do you have any questions?" I often call myself the baby's,
like I'll refer to the baby, "Auntie Syddora is just taking care of you."
Because you become a part of their family, you're just sitting
there and taking it in as if you belong to the family.

Weekly Content Update - Vowels Sing Along & Dressing for the Weather - Duration: 4:34.
Hello! My name is Johnathan. I'm a scriptwriter here at Gemiini. This week
I'm excited to share the new sing-along clip our film team has created to teach
the names and sounds of vowels. We've added new animations to help your child
choose clothing appropriate for different kinds of weather.
You'll also find new spelling test clips as well as image word generalizations
for common animals in the clip library. Let's start with the Vowel Sing-Along.
Recognizing vowels and knowing what sounds they can make is an important
milestone in learning to read. Children who can recognize vowels are able to
begin combining them with consonants to sound out words. Our Vowel Sing-Along
generalizes the name the long sound and the short sound of each vowel in a
simple and entertaining song. You can find the vowel song in the clip library.
From the home page, select "My Videos." Then click "Build New Video - Complete Library
Access". The Vowel Sing-Along is in Reading, Writing, & Academic | First
School Years, in both the Alphabet and the Songs categories. There are letters
we call vowels, this is how we name them: A, E, I, O, U, A, E, I, O, U,
A, E, I, O, U, and sometimes even Y. There are letters we call vowels,
they can make these sounds: A, E, I, O, U, A, E, I, O, U, A, E, I, O, U, and

confidence and independence and their students. This week we're excited to add
our How to Dress for the Weather animations to the library of life skills
clips that we have to offer. These clips combine animated weather scenes with a
visual of an assortment of a collection of clothing items that would be
appropriate for the weather shown. These clips are located in Skills under Life
Skills in Independent Living. Sunny.
Wear: t-shirt, tank top, shorts, sandals, flip-flops, sunglasses, hat. Having your
child check the forecast and watch the corresponding weather clip before
choosing his or her outfit for the day can be a fun way to integrate Gemiini
into your morning routine. Last week we shared the first batch of spelling bee
and spelling test clips. This week we've expanded the spelling library with a
group of written spelling test clips targeting first grade words. These new
spelling test clips can be found in Reading, Writing, & Academic under
Spelling in Written Spelling Tests. We've also brought image words for animals
like lemur, possum, kitten, and koala bear to Spoken Language | People, Places Things,
Animals | Common Animals. If your child likes animals, adding generalizations
like these to his or her assignments can be a great
way to make Gemini viewing sessions more engaging. For help using life skills
clips, the Vowels Sing-Along, or any clips from the Gemiini library in your student's
assignments, please don't hesitate to schedule a free call with one of our
product specialists. If you're having technical trouble or need help getting
started, check out the articles in our Knowledge Base by following the link in
the description of this video. If you're looking for clips that don't seem to
exist on the site, send a content request to us at videos@gemiini.org. That's all
I have for this week. Check out next week's video for more great clips!

Is skipping breakfast good for losing weight - How by skipping breakfast can benefit you - Duration: 10:24.
What's up guys for screen here
Making sure that you enjoy your fitness process each step at a time
Alright guys, so in today's video. I'm very excited to bring you this topic. I didn't really want to go over this
For a while now, and it's something that people often misunderstand
And I just want to shed some light on this and explain this in a little bit further detail and explain you guys
You know why?
Your belief system of this could be possibly wrong so guys without further ado
Let's get into the video
Okay, so the topic of today's video is gonna. Be should you skip breakfast? Can you lose weight by skipping breakfast or?
Should you just follow the mundane?
way of living and
Go ahead and eat that breakfast
So guys first what we got to understand is basically that
We are evolved creatures if you want to put it that way right so
Let's look at it this way several thousands of years ago
we
Had a hunting forage for our food right you can't really disagree with me there
I mean if we were to eat anything that were to be berries and nuts of the mornings which
Really is won't amount to too much if you would call that breakfast so
Which is for the sake of the video? We're going to go ahead and say that you know more likely the the barbarians
The the Warriors they often hunted and forage throughout the day
And then they had massive feast at night and had get-togethers with their families and the friends
In reason why I'm explaining this to you guys is
most of society believes that
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day
Which guys and my humble honest opinion? I just don't think that's the truth. I don't think that is optimal
especially if you're trying to lose weight and
Increase the overall
Healthiness of your life right - overall increase
The overall being of yourself, so if you're trying to be the healthiest version of yourself, which we all should be in my opinion
Some take a little further than others
But I really think we all just have a healthy
lifestyle Pro longevity purposes and living the best life that we possibly can so I
do believe in term a that fasting is the key to achieving those areas of your life that I just explained and
I'm gonna dive in to some
Benefits of intermittent fasting guys, and why I believe that you really should try it out for yourself and just a disclaimer here
Intermittent fasting is not for everybody I didn't want to say that but for the majority of people that I have
Explained this to and kind of explained in great detail to where they can implement this strategy
In a while it's really been very beneficial for them, so take that with a grain of salt
It's worked fantastically for me and achieving a lean physique that I'm very proud of and
as well as maintaining a low body fat, so
If you're somebody out there that want to cheat those two things guys. I really think you should try this out
And here are just a couple benefits a couple reasons on why I do believe so
so
one myth I do want to kind of go over is
it's often sad when people often say that you have to eat breakfast because it kind of kick starts or starts your
Metabolism up early in the morning, and this is is not the truth. It's a total myth
It has been debunked countless times
So get that out of your head
Doesn't kick start your metabolism that is actually very very beneficial for your body to go through anywhere between an 8 to 16 hour fast
window
helps with waste by-product material
cellular repair
Also insulin levels are decreased
insurmountably so that just basically means that
It helps with the the burning of the fat throughout your body
increase fat burning and also
glycogen inside glycogen stores inside your liver are also activated and in turn helping burn fat, so
Without getting into too much details. I just want to have a an overlay and overview of what this basically is and
so
There's just a couple of benefits
Behind it increased mental focus increased energy out the roof caught notice my energy
Skyrocketed when I started doing this about two years ago
I mean it's that powerful guys the mental clarity is probably the coolest thing because no matter what task or objective
I got in front of me. I'm gonna work on that now. I'm going to
Get that done
No matter what because I just have that mental clarity that mental focus
That tunnel vision to get that
Task completed something another really awesome benefit as well
So my protocol is very very laid back
And there's several different methods up there to intermittent fasting that I just want to kind of go over my overall
Aspects towards it and my regimen that I do on a daily basis, so
I guess I keep it really laid-back anything that I'll teach anything that I'll create
programs wise it's gonna be very very simple and to the point and
effective, and that's what I truly believe in and I believe in teaching that and
providing that to you guys, so
Basically what I do every morning is I wake up and I drink a glass of water
Because your body goes through a period of time and not more of a fasted state and more often Thompson
Not when you wake up, and you think you're hungry you feel your stomach rumbling you think immediately
I need to eat something but more times and not guys
It's just a way of your body letting you know that it's dehydrated
And you need to get some h2o up in there get some water
So that's what I do first of all and then after that I begin to get ready for work. I work at 6:00 a.m.
To 2:30 shift, so what I do is I drink that water. I go ahead and fix my coffee and put it in a
thermo genic
Coffee mug, which isn't very important, but then just going over my process each and every day, and then I take the to work
Right, it's probably it amounts to around three cups of coffee two to three cups
I take that to work and I drink black coffee
And that's this is single-handedly one of the most important strategy. You can have to fasting
because a lot of people want to complain that they're
Hungry while a fast
but most people don't allow their body of the right amount of time to adjust our body is is a
vault to adjust with no matter the
progressions we put towards our body or
The amounts of stress no matter you know whatever that may be our bodies are have evolved to adjust to whatever we're putting
resistance to so
For me I found that two weeks was perfect and that's when I begin to
experience less and less
Amounts of hunger when it comes to fasting it was just automatic
And natural so a lot of the time for your body to adjust don't just you know
Try for a day or two and you're hungry, and you quit because you're hungry
No the guys
there are several different strategies out there that you can definitely try and it's going to help to benefit you and to prolong in the
fast
much much, further so like I said, I drink that black coffee and
Then after that black coffee. I like to slam water. I like started getting at least
3/4 to a gallon of water in a day so after the black coffee which is an excellent appetite suppressant
then I can drink the water and
Like I said three and a half or excuse me three fourths to gallon of water is
optimal for myself and for mostly everybody else so
After that it's usually when I break my fast with a fruit and this basically cuts the fast off
but
You guys gotta understand it creates a calorie buffer at the end of the day
And I'm somebody that likes to eat food at the end of the day
So with me eating a couple pieces of fruit a small meal, maybe some Greek yogurt some granola
Something very small I'm that's gonna hold me over for a couple hours, and then I feast like I said with our ancestors, right?
And guys this is what I've noticed to be the most helpful for myself in several people that I've taught this to
especially when it comes to training and
Optimizing your overall time in the genome as well. I found that
I'm
It's a lot easier to pack on muscle
There's studies to show that
the application of
Producing more muscle is way way more
Increased when it comes to allowing your body to have the amount of time it needs
to have that cellular or cellular repair, so
Guys this is just an overview of what intermittent fasting is
Claudia is you want to pass anywhere between four to eight hours throughout the day and the answer your question no
Breakfast is not the most
