Education. Education, I believe,
is in decline all over the world. At least, in Russia and in USA for sure.
I believe that schools and universities treat education wrong.
There are no such teachers, who would evaluate your knowledge, but not
just count your grades, then combine them and give you a final grade
for the course. For all my life I have studied in school 11 years, this is my fourth year in
university, and I had two teachers, who really gave me real knowledge,
who taught me not for me to get a grade,
but for me to know the material. It was my teacher of Russian language and literature in
school, and last year I had a course analysis of systems ... system analysis and design,
and in both of these classes I really learned something, in both classes I
did not think about grades at all, I was thinking about knowledge, because I
knew that the teacher would not grade me by how I did on a test,
but will grade my knowledge. I knew that, if I have 50 points for each
test, but I really know the material, then the teacher will give me a good grade.
And, unfortunately, few of the teachers have an actual goal to give knowledge to people.
They have some measurements, they have quotas, probably, they have checks and
to ... for the university, for example, to get a certification, then I think that there is
some evaluation ... evaluation ... there is some kind of assessment of grades of students, that is, if
in your class everyone gets three (C) and two (B), then you are a bad teacher. And in actuality
it's ... it's not necessarily so. But, unfortunately, now very few of the teachers
really take care of their students. It's bad. The fact is that I understand why
this happens because there's one teacher and 30 students, and it is very difficult to somehow treat each one
individually, and therefore we need to have tests. It's simply
necessary. But I also think that with the development of
technologies this will all change slowly. I believe that ... I have this
proposal that I think is very correct, because, because
I think so. I'm very young, very inexperienced person, therefore most likely
I'm wrong, but I suggest
in university... in universities, that lectures are to be recorded on the
on the camera, and that the students watch these lectures in advance. For example, tomorrow we
will have a lesson in mathematics, and all the students watched a lecture, a video-lecture,
that is, it's 50 minutes, at the end they have exercise, in the end they have all the
resources that are needed, and they come to class only to ask
something, clarify, to find out, and so on. And tests
should not take place in terms of responses to questions.
That is, "what is the planet Earth?" ... I apologize "what's the shape of the planet Earth?" 1). square
2). triangle or 3). circle or 4). sphere and the answer is very very
obvious, but we need to do it in a way, so that the teacher and student...for the teacher
to ask questions that are directed at the understanding of the material,
and not only at memorizing, at memorizing of some
some ... forgot what they are called, the definitions of this or that material, and this, I think, will improve the quality of
knowledge of people, because right now, in my class I know that 80
percent of people have zero, zero knowledge, because they cheat on exams, they
are prepared only for tests, and after the test all knowledge disappears, and
so when they go to work, they have zero knowledge, but we need to somehow correct this, so that people
can have knowledge, so that they can master it , and only then, I think, the world will change to
a much better world.
