10 Hacks for Road Trips - Duration: 8:13.

Last month we drove from North Carolina to Utah, and spent a few weeks mountain biking

out West.

Our road trip was glorious.

Although we made a lot of memories, we also spent back to back days just driving.

Keeping the car clean, keeping ourselves clean, and staying well rested were the main keys

to sanity during our time on the road.

So, since you guys are all mountain bikers, hikers, or outdoor enthusiasts at the very

least, I figured you could use 10 road trip hacks for your next adventure.

Let's get started.

You'll probably end up buying some things you forgot while out on the road, like a toothbrush,

a flashlight, batteries—stuff like that.

So start a dedicated bin just for road trip stuff.

As you buy all the stuff you forgot, just add it to the bin.

Next time you can load it up and not need to buy everything again.

Seems like an obvious thing to do, but it's actually not.

If you're road tripping really hard, you may even need to change your clothes, and

you may not have a low key place to do it.

In a pinch, you can use your car doors as a dressing room.

It only gives you 270 degrees of privacy, but that's enough if you're facing the

woods.

If you've road tripped before, chances are you've already used this trick to get the

job done.

Speaking of getting the job done, you can use a heavy duty bucket for that.

I even labeled mine.

To make it more comfortable to sit on, you'll also need a pool noodle, which surprisingly

you can still buy during the winter.

Cut the noodle to the circumference of your heavy duty bucket, and then cut it again long

ways.

It should fit around the rim and make for a comfy seat.

You can use a bag to contain the mess, but make sure your heavy duty bucket is clean

before it goes back in your car.

When number twoing out on the road, toilet paper just doesn't cut it.

With a few days between showers baby wipes should be your religion.

You can use these to clean off public toilet seats, to clean yourself, or even take a road

trip bath.

With wipes, you won't need to stew in your own filth for thousands of miles, so put them

in your road trip bin and make sure you don't run out.

If you're watching this channel then of course you'll be bringing bikes on your

next road trip.

While eating, or taking bathroom breaks, you need to protect your bikes from would-be opportunists.

U locks and bike chains are great ways to secure your bikes, but the best of those cost

crazy money and often times aren't long enough.

Here's how to make a custom bike lock.

First obtain a length of really heavy chain from the hardware store.

I got 5 1/2 feet.

Now cut open an inner tube so you can slide it over the chain.

This should be easy.

Okay, so this is almost impossible to do with a narrow inner tube, so make sure you get

one wide enough.

Secure the ends with electrical tape and fold the inner tube back to protect it.

I bought these heavy duty contractor locks which are about as big around as a U.

The inner tube will protect your bikes from the chain, and you can also use a cable to

secure your wheels from getting stolen.

Now nobody can steal my bikes—unless they have an angle grinder, or a T20.

At least they'll be safe from casual theft at rest stops.

Speaking of rest stops you might get tired of driving and need to sleep.

If you can't find a campsite, some Walmarts allow overnight parking.

If you see RVs and semis in the back of the lot, it's usually cool to set up and get

some rest there.

Just be low key about it, and don't treat the place like a campsite.

I found a really expensive and outdated app that, to be fair, does work well for finding

these locations.

It turns out that ingles, Cracker barrel, and a few other places also allow boondocking.

When waking up in the morning a lot of us drink coffee, I know I do.

One of the easiest ways to make coffee on the road is to just keep some in the cooler.

Iced coffee tastes delicious, you don't need to heat anything up, and you can prepare

it with ice from your cooler.

You can brew the coffee at home, or even buy this premade stuff at most supermarkets.

Once it's diluted with ice, you'll find that one bottle of this is enough for multiple

days, and you'll save money on coffee stops.

I'm personally a lot more comfortable when my immediate surroundings are clean and free

of clutter.

Alex doesn't care as much.

By shaking out your floor mats and wiping your cars interior, it'll feel and actually

be cleaner.

For this, I keep car cleaning wipes in my road trip bin.

Although these say "Armor all" on them, they're actually just cleaning wipes.

In fact you could probably use baby wipes for this as well, although I haven't.

Another way to keep your car clean is with a carbage can.

Trust me, this is a lot better than the shopping bag around your shifter because it actually

contains the garbage so don't need to look at it.

Get a small office sized trash can and secure it someplace in the back.

When you get a receipt, a bag, or the remains of of meal, it can go into the carbage until

you find a place to empty it.

This last hack is for those of you who like to cook.

For this one you'll need some aluminum foil, bread, cheese, and some butter or oil.

Just coat the foil and sandwich some cheese between two slices of bread.

Wrap it up, and throw it on your engine block.

This works better on older cars with "proper" engine blocks, but Alex's Mazda did a satisfactory

job of cooking our lunch.

I guarantee you haven't seen engine block grilled cheese in any other hack video.

So there you go, 10 road trip hacks.

Road trips are one of the best ways to create memories, so start planning!

There's loads of singletrack, parks, and wilderness out there, and it's not gonna

explore itself.

So fill up your gas tank, grab your road trip bin, and get out there.

[Iphone X] Apple fans lining up for the iPhone X upset at tactics used by queuers

He has been one of the first people to secure Apple's latest devices since the iPhone 6 in 2014.

His efforts for the iPhone X, which will go on sale Friday, have been no different. Mr Barsoum has been camping outside Sydney's George Street Apple Store since Sunday.

But, he said, this year is different, with empty milk crates and chairs littering the footpath instead of fellow human fans as people try to game the system.

At the front of the queue is a message board left by Dave Lee, the first person in line.

"We are building the worlds [sic] longest line, to secure your free spot join our Facebook group. We are making the iPhone great again," was the message posted on the board.

After joining the group, members are met with regulations they are required follow to ensure they do not lose their position.

"Everyone in the line is expected to check the line and post a picture or video daily or your position will be replaced by the person behind," the group explains. The sign at the front of the Apple Store.

Mr Barsoum said he had never seen anything like this before and wasn't impressed.

"It's a unique way of lining up this time round," he told news.com.au. "Some people who are in front of the line get their seat minded the whole week.".

Mr Barsoum said he is about eighth in line, with Dave Lee and another man named Kyle alternating between night and day shift. Others in front of him are also subbing each other out.

"I'm annoyed a little bit because I sat here on Monday — a 35-degree day — and got heatstroke which knocked me out for two days," he said.

Despite his grievances with how other people have approached the ritual, Mr Barsoum said at least they are more consistent than those behind him. "We're eighth or ninth and then behind us is like a zoo, people come and go," he said.

Mr Barsoum said there is currently around 50 people lined up for the iPhone X, but the majority of the line are crates and empty seats that the council has threatened to take away this afternoon.

It's unclear who dobbed in the crates and seats to the council.

A spokeswoman from the City of Sydney said the council had an obligation to ensure footpaths are accessible for everyone, and had give the Apple Store special permission to put up barricades outside the George St store between 5am and 6pm tomorrow.

"Our rangers are working with Apple store management to arrange the immediate removal of unattended chairs and milkcrates that have been left outside their George Street store," the council told news. com. au in a statement.

Over the past three days, City of Sydney rangers have taken away 12 chairs and six milk creates and placed them in a council depot, the spokeswoman said.

The line, which stretches around the corner, is often just empty seats. Last month Apple sent a press release saying walk-in customers "are encouraged to arrive early" to have a chance of purchasing the iPhone X at their local Apple Store.

These comments contradicted a 2015 memo circulated to staff by Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts, who told staff to encourage customers to buy and order products online.

"The days of waiting in line and crossing fingers for a product are over for our customers," the memo read, The Verge reported.

"This is a significant change in mindset, and we need your help to make it happen. Tell your customers we have more availability online, and show them how easy it is to order. You'll make their day.".

The directive to line up early for the iPhone X coincides with rumours Apple is only expected to have three million units available worldwide for its launch weekend.

It's the latest in a seemingly endless onslaught of production delay rumours that have dogged the iPhone X. Manufacturers are reportedly struggling to produce components for the iPhone X's new face recognition technology.

The Dodgers, meanwhile, will counter with Yu Darvish.

ARSENAL are planning a sensational swoop for Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has only featured in five games for The Blues this season, just two starts in the Carabao Cup.

Charly Musonda is ready to end his time with Chelsea and join Arsenal, according to reports.

Musonda turned down the chance to go out on loan this summer, instead wanting to challenge for a first-team spot.

But now that hasnt materialised, he is ready to quit Stamford Bridge for pastures new, according to Foot Mercato.

The French news-site reports that Charly has informed Chelsea that he will not extend [his contract], regardless of the proposal and that he will seek to leave the club in January.

The youngsters contract expires in June 2019, but the London club could well seek to cut their ties and get a fee for him.

Charly Musonda decided to stay and fight for a first-team place in the summer - but has failed to make the breakthrough.

Could Arsene Wenger be preparing a January move for Chelsea winger Charly Musonda.

Foot Mercato adds that Musonda believes it is time for him to play football regularly and that he sees no hope of having much more play time than he is currently getting at the club.

And one of the clubs at the front of the queue to sign the exciting winger is Chelseas London rivals Arsenal.

It is reported that the Gunners are ready to make a firm offer to Chelsea for Musonda in January.

Musonda has been at Chelsea since the age of 15, but could be set to swap West London for North London.

Halep has been slammed by critics of the WTA Tour for ending as the world no.1 despite not winning a Grand Slam.   Federer is a big fan of the womens game and praised Halep for the year shes had.

  He said: Not for a second should you ever take away anything from Halep, whos worked their life to achieve a life-goal dream.   Its not only about Grand Slams. Shes played a full season.

Shes tough, fit, playing all the time, she practices hard, shes committed and that also should be rewarded.

  I am really happy for her and excited to follow the women's game until the very end because there were so many players who could finish No.1.   The Romanian ended the season being torn apart 6-0 6-2 by Caroline Wozniacki at the WTA Finals - and still ended top of the pile.

And the words went down well with Halep, who considers the 19-time Grand Slam champion as an idol.

  I felt really proud of myself that Roger Federer could talk about me like that, I thank him for the nice words, Halep said.

  He is one of my (role) models.   Federer won the Swiss Indoors title for the eighth time on Sunday but has opted to pull out the Paris Masters this week citing a back injury.
