For Instructors: Organizing Your Lessons Subpages and Course Menu - Duration: 6:30.

After adding some content to your course site using the

Lessons tool, there are some additional steps you can take

to make sure things are organized and easy for students to navigate.

In this video, we'll streamline and organize a course by hiding and

scheduling subpages, reordering items on a subpage, and restructuring the

course menu.

Let's say it's the second week of the semester, and I've prepared

for week three by creating a subpage for next week.

However, since we're still in week two, I'm not ready for students

to see week three's material.

Sakai allows you to hide a subpage and make it available

on a certain date.

Let's set next week's subpage so that it becomes visible to students

at the beginning of the week.

To begin, I'll click on the Week 3 subpage to display it.

From here, I'll click the Settings icon; it looks like a gear.

We want the subpage to be available on a future date, so we'll check the

box next to Hide page until the following date.

I'll click the calendar icon and select the day I want it

to become visible to students, as well as the time, ...

and then we'll click Done and Save.

A banner confirming these settings appears at the top

of the page.

Alternatively, I'll confirm the subpage is hidden

by clicking Lessons in the navigation bar

to return to the main Lessons page, which lists all subpages.

A message appears next to the subpage I've hidden

letting me know the page will not be released until the date I selected.

Releasing subpages on certain dates is very useful,

but there may also be instances in which you'll want to hide a

subpage indefinitely.

For example, I've placed on this subpage links to articles that

I may decide to use later in the semester,

but my students won't need to see this subpage,

so I'll hide it from them.

Again, we'll open the subpage...

and click the Settings icon.

This time, I'll check the box next to Hide this page

from users and click Save.

The banner confirming the subpage is hidden appears,

and I'll click Lessons to return to the list of subpages.

Next to the subpage I selected, a message confirming it's hidden appears.

Let's see how my Lessons page appears for students.

Click View Site As and select Student.

Since we've hidden the subpages for week three and my collection of articles,

students are only able to see Weeks One and Two.

This looks good!

Okay, we'll exit Student View.

Since Week Three is going to be released soon, let's return to it and

check to make sure the content appears in a logical order.

Moving down the page, we have the due date

followed by the learning objective and readings, and then...

hmm…under Activities and Assessment, things look a

little out of order.

The quiz is appearing above the assignment, discussion,

and video, but it should be the last to appear in this section,

otherwise students might become confused over the

sequence in which they should complete the activities.

Let's reorganize this section so that the video comes first, followed by the

discussion and assignment, and then the quiz.

I'll scroll back up to the top of the page and click Reorder.

All of the items that have been added to the subpage appear.

From here, we'll drag the quiz down to the bottom of the list –

notice the green bar and arrow appearing to let me know

where we are in the list – and we'll drop it, here, at the bottom.

Next, we'll drag the assignment down and drop it

above the quiz, ...

and finally we'll drag the discussion down and drop it

above the assignment.

Now, students will see the video, followed by the discussion and

assignment, and then the quiz.

In your course, you'll need to decide on the best arrangement

of activities that will allow your students to see a clear path

through the week's material.

If you need to delete an item, click the X or drag and drop the item

to the Drop items here to delete box.

The changes we've made look good, so I'll click Save, ...

and then scroll down to take a look at the section.

The video appears first, followed by the discussion and

assignment, and then the quiz.

This subpage is ready for students!

One more thing we'll address in this course site is the

organization of the course menu.

Right now, there's quite a few buttons available to students.

Rather than asking students to click through many buttons

to locate content, the menu should be student-friendly and

easy for students to navigate, so we'll move the buttons

for important tools, such as Overview; Announcements;

Syllabus, Lessons; Gradebook; and Tests & Quizzes

to the top of the menu.

Then we'll hide the buttons students won't need.

To make changes to the course menu, we'll Click Site Info...

and then Tool Order.

[silence]

Let's start by making sure the important tools are at the top

of the menu.

Overview is already first, then Announcements.

We'll drag Syllabus up and drop it under Announcements.

Then we'll drag Lessons up and drop it under Syllabus.

We'll move the Gradebook up so it's next, ...

and then Tests & Quizzes.

Students will need to visit Tests & Quizzes to see feedback on their assessments.

Under Tests & Quizzes, I'll also move the Roster tool up,

as well as the Email and Email Archive tools.

In your site, you may choose to show or hide these three tools.

Lastly, since this course site uses Lessons to link to

activities and documents, we'll hide the remaining buttons.

Next to Assignments, click the gear icon and

select Make Tool Invisible to Students.

A "hidden" icon appears.

I'll repeat the process with Forums, ...

Resources, ...

Calendar, ...

and the remaining tools at the bottom of the list.

[silence]

Then we'll click Save...

and return to the Overview page.

All of the menu items students need are at the top

of the list, and all of the items that are hidden appear italicized and

greyed out.

Let's see how the menu will appear for students.

As we did earlier, we'll click View Site As

and select Student.

They'll see a short list of only the menu items that

they'll need, making it easy for them to navigate the

course and locate content.

Okay, I think you're ready to make your course site easier

for your students to navigate.

If you need assistance, please contact sakaihelp@durhamtech.edu.

Chef Ahki and Miya Discuss Their Love for Atlanta - Duration: 1:39.

Probably about 60 percent of my income goes back into the community of Atlanta.

My name is Miya Bailey and I'm an artist, a visual artist.

I'm a community builder and a humanitarian.

I moved to Atlanta in '94.

I was 19 and my first client I ever tattooed was Usher and then Usher introduced me to

a couple other people and I never slowed down ever since.

If you're a tourist and you never been to Atlanta and you want a true representation

of Atlanta culture and diversity, I would say City Ink is probably the hub of the Atlanta

creative scene.

I don't let no one influence me in any kind of way.

I stay focused on one direction.

You can inspire me, but to influence my decision or make me change my life's paths, that's

never going to happen.

Atlanta is so lit right now because Atlanta is new and old at the same time, right?

We've been through a lot of changes, but we continue to just recreate ourselves.

We effect the entire world through our culture.

My name is Chef Ahki, and I am an author, chef, and health food activist.

Oh, I love my neighborhood.

I'm in an area where I can get right to my international farmer's market, as well as my

local open-air market.

Atlanta has certainly shaped my ambition.

Also, to be clear about my business, to not just look at my trade as a hobby, but to consider

the far reaching abilities of my brand.

Trump Makes Massive Move For Our Military, Humiliates Obama At The Same Time - Duration: 2:12.

The U.S. military got a raw deal under President Obama.

When he wasn't pushing for transgenders in the Armed Forces, he made it hard for them

to do their jobs.

Obama's rules of engagement, for instance, put American soldiers at risk.

This is also true of Obama's military plans.

He sucked the will out of our troops and gave jihadists an advantage

But now Trump is turning the tables.

And our troops are winning again.

From Conservative Tribune:

U.S. Army Gen. John Nicholson slammed former President Barack Obama on Monday and said

that Obama led jihadists to believe the U.S. military had lost their will…

Nicholson explained that from 2011-2016, the U.S. sent telegraphs to the Taliban promising

that U.S. troops were leaving Afghanistan.

As a result, the Taliban saw U.S. forces as weak and believed they had "lost (their)

will…"

However, under President Donald Trump's pro-military, pro-United States administration,

"we now have the will to succeed," Nicholson said…

In his Thanksgiving message to the troops, President Trump praised United States' service

men and women for their progress in the war on terror.

"We have to let you win.

They weren't letting you win before.

They were letting you play even … We're letting you win," he encouraged them.

We may never know why Obama treated our military the way he did.

It's almost as if he wanted us to fail.

That's especially true in the way he handled Afghanistan.

His plans to hastily withdraw troops only empowered jihadists.

Thankfully, President Trump is nothing like Obama.

His support of our troops is meaning all the difference around the world.

Our servicemen and our allies are able to take direct action.

That means major changes in war-torn countries.

Hopefully swift ends to conflict and more lives saved.

In the coming years we will see an end to radical, Islamic terror.

We will see unstable regions stabilized.

We will lead from the front, from a position of strength.

Amazing what a change in leadership can bring!

Ask A Girl: Who Pays For The Date? - Duration: 0:57.

Whoever asked the person out should be the one paying for the date.

If you ask somebody out on a date, you are kind of saying, "like, I am inviting you out

for an evening" and then once you like have dated a few times, then it can be like, "hey,

let's take care of each other or split things so that we can go out more."

The person who reaches for the check.

Sometimes people do that, they fake it, ya know?

They try to see if the other person will reach for it first.

Ya know?

Unless you're modern and ya decide upfront, "oh, let's split it" but who does that?

Splitsies is so unromantic.

Venmo.

Like... it's not romantic.

Also, you don't have to take her to the most expensive dinner in the world.

Like, get a Groupon.

It's fine.

RODE VIDEOMIC versus RODE VIDEOMIC PRO PLUS - Best Video Microphone for Youtube - Duration: 6:03.

Hi guys, I posted an unboxing and review of the video mic Pro Plus check that out in the link here

Now I'm going to be comparing it with its older brother the video mic

It is easy to conclude that the video mic Pro Plus is the better of the two

video microphones, but some may find the features of the video mic enough for their needs

Let's see what this microphones can do

Now let's start with the similarities both video microphones have the integrated Rycote lyre suspension system

They both include a windshield

They have an integrated shoe mount and they come with a 10 year extended warranty when registered online

Let's talk about their differences this time

first power

The video mic can only be powered with a 9 volts battery

Whereas the Pro Plus can be powered with three options?

Namely the rechargeable lithium-ion battery

two double-a batteries and

continuously via microUSB

Plus the Pro Plus has an automatic power function which turns off the microphone

When unplugged from the camera or when the camera turns off?

Also the battery cover in the Pro Plus is built-in unlike in the video mic

So it is easier to replace a battery and the cover won't get lost

Next connection cable both mic are connected to a camera with a 3.5 millimeter mini jack

However the Pro Plus cable is detachable from the mic itself

the benefits to this feature

are that you only have to replace the cable and not the entire unit if it is broken and

You may now directly attach or connect a longer cable to the microphone

high-pass filter

the videomic comes with a two-step high-pass filter

Flat and 80 Hertz on the other hand the Pro Plus has three flat

75 Hertz and

150 Hertz

Thus the Pro Plus can reduce lower frequencies in the background gain control?

There is only level attenuation in the videomic

Which is three step?

zero minus ten decibels and minus twenty decibels

the Pro Plus has a three-stage gain control

zero minus ten decibels and plus 20 decibels

This means that the videomic is better for recording loud sound sources such as live music

Although it doesn't have the plus twenty decibel gain

Which enables you to lower the cameras volume which in turn reduces itself noise?

This feature makes the Pro Plus better at picking up clear audio

weight and size

the video mic weighs

176 grams while the Pro Plus is just 122 grams

Also the head of the Pro Plus may be bigger

But the one in the video mic is longer, so it protrudes more to the front of the camera

Audio capture tests this is a close up sound test of the video mic

This is a close up sound test of the video mic Pro Plus

This is an indoor sound test of the video mic. This is an indoor sound test of the video mic Pro Plus

This is an outdoor sound test of the video mic. This is an outdoor sound test of the video mic Pro Plus

price the videomic sells at around 150 US dollars

the Pro Plus will cost you about

300 US dollars

then there are features in the Pro Plus that are not in the video mic like the high frequency boost and

safety Channel the video mic Pro Plus is the runaway winner here in terms of features and functionalities

It clearly shows the improvements that road has put into it shotgun microphone line throughout the years

From the size to the placement to the tweaks in the settings

This video microphones have really gotten better the video mic Pro Plus gives

You flexibility in adjusting your recording to a wide range of situations. Thanks to its digital switching features

But that comes at an expensive price tag

Then again the video mic is capable enough to capture good quality audio in most common recording situations

So if you're working on a budget and can do without the additional digital switching features

Then the video mic should work well enough for you

so I hope this video has helped you reach a decision whether to

Upgrade to the Pro Plus or not if you're a current video mic user

Or I hope it has helped you reach a decision as to which one to buy

So click on that like button if you like this video subscribe to my channel if you haven't done

So thank you for watching, and I'll see you all next time

Kate Middleton reveals delight for Harry and Meghan Markle - Duration: 8:42.

'It's such exciting news!': Pregnant Kate reveals her joy at royal engagement as she gets stuck into an art class with youngsters just hours after Meghan hailed her future sister-in-law as 'amazing'

The Duchess of Cambridge said shes absolutely thrilled for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as she stepped out in London a day after her brother-in-laws engagement announcement.

The pregnant mother-of-two displayed her neat baby bump in a figure-skimming Kate Spade dress, which she offset with burgundy accessories, as she arrived at the Foundling Museum in London.

Discussing Mondays happy news, the Duchess said: William and I are absolutely thrilled.

Its such exciting news.

Its a really happy time for any couple and we wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this happy moment.

Her appearance comes just hours after Meghan Markle hailed her wonderful.

Miss Markle said the Duchess of Cambridge had been wonderful to her, while Harry said both William and Kate had been amazing.

Harry talked about how he kept the relationship secret before introducing Miss Markle to his brother and sister-in-law.

It was exciting, I mean Ive - you know, Id been seeing her for a period of time when I literally didnt tell anybody at all. .

And then William was longing to meet her and so was Catherine, so you know, being our neighbours, we managed to get that in a couple of, well, quite a few times now, and Catherine has been absolutely amazing, as has William as well, you know, fantastic support.

The family together have been absolutely, you know, a solid support, and my grandparents as well have been, have been wonderful throughout this whole process, and theyve known for quite some time, he said.

The Duchess of Cambridge was today at the Foundling Hospital, the UKs first childrens charity and first public art gallery where she learned more about the museums history and the way it continues to focus on its founding principles to use art and creativity as a means to support and engage children and vulnerable families.

During her visit, Kate received a briefing on the history of the hospital and how the museum continues to engage vulnerable and marginalised young people.

The 35-year-old met families and children who have benefited from the museums education and outreach programmes, including pre-school children from a local nursery who regularly visit the museum and young care leavers who are being trained to run their own creative workshops.

The Foundling Museum explores the history of the Foundling Hospital, the UKs first childrens charity and first public art gallery.

The Foundling Hospital, which continues today as the childrens charity Coram, was established in 1739 by the philanthropist Thomas Coram to care for babies at risk of abandonment. .

After 17 years of tireless campaigning, Thomas Coram finally received a Royal Charter from King George II in 1739, enabling him to establish his Foundling Hospital.

From 1741 when the first babies were admitted, to 1954 when the last pupil was placed in foster care, the Foundling Hospital cared for and educated around 25,000 children.

Instrumental in helping Coram realise his vision was the artist William Hogarth, who encouraged leading artists of the day to donate work, and George Frideric Handel, who conducted annual benefit concerts in the Hospitals chapel.

Their creative generosity set the template for the ways in which the arts can support philanthropy. .

Today artists continue to be central to the Foundling Museums work; through a dynamic programme of exhibitions and events the Museum celebrates the ways in which the arts have helped improve childrens lives for over 275 years and aims to inspire everyone to make a positive contribution to society.

Her visit comes after Harry, 33, and Miss Markle, 36, appeared at a photocall at Kensington Palace in London yesterday.

Fifth in line to the throne Harry has been dating the American actress - who found fame in the US legal drama Suits - since the summer of last year.

Their 16-month whirlwind romance blossomed when they met through mutual friends in London, and the pair have been almost inseparable in recent months.

The couple will live together in Harrys current home, Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, and Miss Markle will become an HRH and a senior royal.

She is expected to become a duchess - just like Kate Middleton did when she became the Duchess of Cambridge after saying her vows in 2011.

Miss Markle will most probably become HRH the Duchess of Sussex, if Harry is made the Duke of Sussex by the Queen on the morning of his wedding.

The pair were secretly engaged earlier this month, and Harry took Miss Markle to meet his grandmother the Queen for tea at Buckingham Palace in October.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were the surprise stars of Friday nights Royal Variety Performance show, when Will was cajoled into taking part in a comedy sketch by the shows host, Miranda Hart.

Kate burst into fits of giggles when the Duke gamely took part in a comedy skit, obligingly shouting the catch-phrase such fun whenever Hart requested him to from the stage at the London Palladium.

Sitting in the royal box under a spotlight, the Duke performed his part enthusiastically while the Duchess dissolved into fits of laughter.

Hart said that compelling Prince William to participate in the show was on her to-do list for the Royal Variety duties.

Kate, who is four months pregnant with the couples third child, looked stunning in a bespoke Jenny Packham crystal-embellished, full-length blue gown.

After their unexpected participation in the show, the couple enjoyed performances by Paloma Faith, The Killers, Louis Tomlinson, Seal and The Script at the London Palladium.
