Hello, my name's Brandon and this is my story

I'm 23 years old, oh just about to turn 23

And I work at bitemedeli as an apprentice in retail.

So a cert 3

I do a lot of food prep and just really a lot of serving out the front and get things

ready and make the day happen

Yeah, it's really friendly

Really great to see locals around

They always have a smile on their face

I was working a long time ago, like a couple of years ago

Then I fell into just a little bit of depression

It was an 8 month depression

And I got through that with a lot of counselling, friends, family

And it was a downside of my life

I found just, not waking up in the morning,

and just laying in bed all day,

and not really socializing with many people or wanting to find a job

I just felt like there was nothing really

to life at that time

I mean, yeah, found the opportunity to come here

and they were actually interested in finding me work, not just giving me things

to do and then see you later

I did an 8 to 12 week, like, traineeship

that was to just get used to the workplace

and get prepared for my actual job.

Get into really like what I'm meant to do

Yeah, they helped me through a big pathway

of finding work and getting into part-time work at the moment

Just to start me off and then it led up to this internship, apprenticeship

Yeah, I got the hang of it after a little bit

Just was real keen to start at bitemedeli

Yeah, the experience I've had with jobactive

it was very positive

They put me into the position that I'm in right now

I wouldn't have had it not for them

Yeah, they've done excellent at every step of the way

they've been there

It's definitely changed my financial position It just doesn't feel like I'm just circling

Now, I feel like I've got a reason to get up in the morning
